Seemed like a decent vet, but then walked off with all our animals' paperwork and then didn't return our calls.

I wish I would have caught it sooner for me to bypass some unneeded emotional damage. Once I finally did pick up on the signs I immediately looked for a nearby vet. But on a Sunday, there aren't many open. My choices were two emergency vets that were equal distances away. As you can see, I chose this one. On my way here, I was all in my emotions and almost bypassed the building. Luckily for me, I caught it at the last minute and whipped around. When I went in there was no hesitation about being seen. They are a digital establishment. Scan the QR code, fill in your information, and wait to be seen. I sat in the waiting room for what felt like an eternity, but we all feel that way in a time of need. Finally a vet tech came to see me and ask what was going on. I started to talk and only broke down instead. I was escorted in a room and they took my cat for a set of vitals. I was at that point where I thought she was attempting to cross that rainbow bridge. Instead, after the vitals and some talking to the vet, it was decided as to what was going on. I also want to thank them for being upfront with information. I was informed that they already know what it is and a course of treatment or I could spend a lot more money to do tests and come to the same conclusion. After a good cry I came to my senses and went with their suggested treatment. This was an emotionally exhausting day. Made a bit better by a good team at this place. My cat, upon returning home, was very lethargic because of the antibiotic and pain medication given. She was out of sorts for a bit, but back to normal within the timeframe quoted by this team.

The staff at Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty were amazing from the moment we walked in. They were extremely thorough while showing such care and concern for Duke. They explained what was happening, were transparent about the cost, and gave an honest assessment of the prognosis for our baby. Dr. S explained our options and gave us time to process everything. She answered all our questions and reassured us that there was no right or wrong way to go. Ultimately, we made the heartbreaking decision to let Duke go and she supported it, agreeing it was the kindest choice given his age, prognosis, and his current state. When I asked her what she would do for her own fur baby given the circumstances, Dr. S was transparent and told us she would do the same. That gave us a small bit of comfort that we weren't rushing into it prematurely. Dr. S gave us referrals to a few vets who could come to our home to help us with Duke's final care. We chose Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice, who were equally wonderful during such a horrible time. We appreciate all of the staff at Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty, from the folks at the front desk to the nurses and doctors. There were small things that I appreciated... when they brought our baby to us, they put down a plush blanket so he could be comfortable and not laying directly on the floor. Also, right before we left, one of the nurses even came in to say goodbye to Duke and tell him he was a sweet boy. She loved on him and that small gesture will always stick with me. I thank everyone for showing such love and support during one of the most difficult times in my family's life. I would absolutely recommend Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty to anyone needing care for their fur baby.

During a visit they told me our cat would need a dental cleaning and I priced that out online - so…read moreinstead of stressing about that I signed up for the wellness plan for cats. It is expensive but I did the math and the cost of the wellness plan for one year for the cat was about the same as the cost would be for the dental cleaning. He had the dental cleaning in January of this year. He came through just fine. Fast forward to this week - I suspected that the cat had a UTI, so I called and got a same day appointment for him. Because of COVID they are taking your pet back and telling you to either go shop or go sit in your car. Fine. So I shop for about 30 minutes and then go sit in my car. The vet calls she tells him that they think it is a UTI and we will go ahead and treat that. Fine with me... When I get the paper work it says they think he needs another dental cleaning! WHAT?! I just did that and dental cleanings for cats are pretty stressful for the cat because they have to be put under for it. There is no way a cat's recently cleaned teeth got that bad in 3 months. While I like Banfield for the convenience and I generally like Dr. Anthony I am seriously annoyed about the dental comment. Either (a) they did a bad job the first time (b) they didn't update their system to show it was done already or (c) they are trying to make me put my cat through unnecessary procedures for profits.... None of these is acceptable to me. (Edit 2: They reached back to me and explained that the system note is overly broad - that while our cat has tartar build up, he doesn't need a cleaning at this point. I appreciate the call back and the information.) Edit: Their customer service commented on this post to have me contact them. I did as they requested weeks later, I still haven't heard back from them. It was lovely gesture to seem caring but they didn't actually reply.

I had an appointment for 10:30 am, arrived at 10:20 am and didn't see the vet for almost an hour. The "checkup" was so cursory, all they did was weigh my cat and take his temp. And this was not performed in the exam room, but the tech took the cat out of the room and I have no idea where they went. No exam of his skin, ears, eyes, nose, etc. The vet tried to upsell me on everything the store carries. Needless to say I will not go back.
