This is a wonderful and special local spot in the very quiet town of defuniak springs. They had a wide selection of teas and homemade pastries, such as delicious macaroons and quiche. They have vegetarian options, beer and wine to go as well as a full menu though we were only there for breakfast. The space is large, modern, light and homey. There's local art on the walls. It's a great addition to the community and the bartenders are knowledgeable on where to direct tourists. read more

I cannot believe this place is in Defuniak. It could make in a major city. SUPERB coffees. Breakfast burrito was AWESOME. Pastries were devine. Make the dip off HWY 10 if you are passing by Defuniak SPrings. I cringe a 4$ toast and jam but...damn it was good, so I've gotten it twice. read more

This was the starting point for our beach trip. We drive the same route every year and this year we stumbled onto Perla. It is a breath of fresh air amid fast food stops. We were pleasantly surprised at its offerings, all fresh and served quickly. We each had something different and shared with the table. The Nova Scotia toast (it's been 6 months) is still on my mind! Nice little coffee house in the heart of old defuniak. Stopped on my way home from riding and got the avocado blt and a black ice tea. Everything was perfect. The tea was just right, not watered down like most places. Great service and the place is always clean. read more

I love that this is located right in front of an old train station and a lake. The inside is clean too. I recommended this place to some of my friends and they went here, they loved it. Stopped in restaurant this morning with my wife for coffee and danish. We were not acknowledged upon arrival, stood at the counter for approx. 5 minutes. I would understand if restaurant was busy but there were only 2 additional customers awaiting orders. We politely left and took our business elsewhere due to the poor customer service experience. read more

I have to say the food isn't bad but don't walk away because you will never know your food was ready. unfortunately, this area doesn't have a lot of options for bakery goods. However the Saturday morning farmers market is quite a little hidden charm. The downtown shops / antique stores are pretty great too. This place is quite beautiful. If Perla could workout a way of letting people know there food is ready before it's cold, I'd give it more stars. read more

I can't say enough great things about Perla. Especially love the small town atmosphere and the fact they remember you when you call in your order. I am partial to the pesto chicken Sandwich but literally everything I have ever ordered here has been wonderful. Highly recommend if you haven't tried yet. We just moved to Defuniak and we go to Perla ALL the time. The atmosphere is cozy with lots of natural light. The food is good, but they're a little slow getting the orders out sometimes. We like the French Cuban the best. The breakfast croissant is huge and very good too. read more

I was looking for a place to get coffee on our way home and came across this gem! It's about five minutes off the interstate in a precious little downtown area. It was so clean and all staff were wearing masks and were super friendly. Another huge bonus, they have delicious GF pastries which was such an amazing surprise!
