    Award Winning Gumbo

While visiting family in Freeport we went to Cafe Nola to get a Muffeletta. Wow what a nice place. Love the decor and atmosphere. Waitress was very nice. Not in a big hurry. Just like New Orleans, The Big Easy. We got of course the Muffeletta and their award-winning Gumbo. I can see why it's award winning. It's the real deal. It was the best I've tasted since New Orleans. It's that good. The Muffeletta was absolutely perfect and yummy. With the Muffeletta we got a side of Cheesy Grits. Good stuff. To top it off we got Beignets and I tell you they were the best I've had I do believe. You won't be disappointed with Cafe Nola

Came in for a bite before going to Christmas lights. Annie was our bartender she was sweet and helpful. We never waited for anything. Good music lots of Christmas trees. Clean bathrooms. 3 stars not for service but for the food. It was "ok" nothing amazing about it.

Had a cup of Gumbo, cup of red beans and rice, split a Muffaletta. Delicious. Sweet tea was good. Great ambiance. Decor is fantastic.

Our first time here. Service was fabulous! The food did not disappoint. The ambiance was so NOLA with Christmas music playing. Chef Ernie came by to say hello. Would definitely recommend and we will return.

    Muffuletta & Brussel sprouts

Stopped in because of previous reviews. Well worth the 20 minutes out of our way. Grew up in NOLA & this place has the right vibe-decor & music. Wait staff was very attentive. I had the muffuletta with brussels as a side & husband had the fried catfish platter with fries. Both were nice portions & left with to go boxes. Central grocery may still be the winner of muffulettas, but this place gives it competition. Worth the stop.

We love to travel and stay at Historic hotels. Cafe Nola is adjacent. After Chef Ernie gave us a detailed history he invited us to try his Shrimp Scampi special. The Shrimp scampi was truly the best I'd ever tasted. The shrimp was so fresh and the pasta was piping hot. The Brussels sprouts were perfectly prepared with a smooth, maybe balsamic glaze? All in all, this was a mo fabulous dining experience.

Enjoyed an afternoon lunch in this quaint restaurant. Food was on par, not an uneaten bite left.

One if the last fine dinning options in DeFuniak Springs. Staff is friendly and patient which is a bonus when eating out.

This stop is about two miles off of the interstate, but well worth the detour. After we plugged in our Tesla to charge we stumbled upon H&M Hot Dog. A sign outside the hotdog stand boasted about the best burger in town and this was no exaggeration. The burgers and fries were absolutely excellent. Prices are so affordable! I couldn't believe our family of four had lunch for under $30! (My husband and I each ordered a cheeseburger and my boys both ordered hotdogs. We also had two baskets of fries to share, two cans of soda, and a bottled water). The hotdog stand is tiny and charming and the two women running the stand were cooking food and taking orders nonstop during our visit. There is only one counter inside with about ten barstools and picnic tables outside to sit at. So glad that we discovered this hidden gem. We will be back!!!

My wife and I cook, love high end food, but sometimes you just need simple and affordable feel good food. Their burgers are amazing. Their hot dogs are quality not some gas station dog. We try to go once a week for dinner. We get fries too and they are cooked to perfection. The best part is the STAFF! Not only can they cook but they are polite and love to talk. The entire vibe is a local hangout. Their older staff is great but their young staff is high school age. I'm going to sound old but the young staff makes me so proud of Defuniak. They look you in the eye, are polite, hold conversations etc. I've not seen such great service in a long time!
