Our very first time eating here was tonight, my friends had the burritos and I had the ribeye steak with a baked potato, the potato was seriously piping hot. Went to Pepitos on 4th of July for dinner. There was a short wait which was a shocker being it was the 4th. The place was packed. There is seating indoors and outdoors and tvs. We were seated in a booth and was greeted right away by our waiter. I ordered a piña colada which is one of the best authentic pina coladas that I've had in a long time. I ordered the chile rellenos plate which was great. And others ordered fish tacos, steak torta and chicken enchiladas which were also really tasty. I could tell the place isn't an authentic Mexican restaurant due to the cooking style, however, I would go back because everything that we had was good. read more

Great experience overall the food was decent and the service was quick. I usually don't like Mexican restaurants but the food was nice and the drinks were good. Wasn't busy when I went so I didn't have to wait. There are many tables so you probably wouldn't have to ever wait long to get seated. read more

Let's start off by saying that my experience here is judged based on this one time. First off is the cleanliness. It was very clean when I arrived and was sat. Tables were clean and naturally I look around to see if everything else is as well. Service was awesome and super attentive. It's almost like he had an empty glass detector in the back his head. It was literally insane. Never had to ask for more water or tea, the dude just knew. Apart from our jedi waiter, I ordered the street tacos and found some little nitpicky things. The food overall was very well prepared and presented. Street tacos were served with onion and cilantro, guac, and salsa. Imma give the street tacos about a 7 out of 10 on the flavor scale. This Mexican restaurant was more than a general place. I was very pleased that the menu was not your generic that is in so many American Mexican restaurants. Many items on the menu were specific to this restaurant. There is an entire page of Tacorita selections. They offer fish, ship and even tongue tacos. Yum love that. The chips were fresh and the first round is complementary and then there is just a slight charge for an additional basket of chips no big deal. We felt the restaurant offered plenty of space for large groups and much cleaner than other places in the area. Will for sure return. read more

It was my birthday and we were on our way back home from VPS airport. I decided to stop here for a meal with my family for my birthday. Now, please understand, I am a fine dining person so this was definitely not my normal cup of tea. Service was outstanding. Very friendly staff. Waiter was attentive without being overbearing. Food was subpar at best. Shrimp were overcooked as evidenced by their rubbery, dry consistency. The chicken was also overcooked and dried out, even being buried in guacamole and sour cream it was very dry. The cook on the steak was fantastic, but was not seasoned at all. The wife and youngest son had the chicken quesadillas. They were not played well at all and were laying in a bed of grease. Simply put they were less than acceptable. The mother had the stew. This was the worst excuse for stew I've ran across in my time on this earth. Full of fat, the vegetables were mush, the meat was fatty and there were pieces of fat floating loose in the stew. Just not properly made or held at all. Older Son had the fajitas. Same cook on the meats here as on the nachos. Concluding Remarks: Service is fantastic. If service is all you are worried about this is your place. Portions were beautifully large. The big let down for us was the cook on the meats and presentation. This is easily a restaurant that could compete for a Michelin Star, but the cooking will have to get at least to the standard of the customer service for that to happen. What a shame! read more

Not only did they have 2 for 1 drink specials but we tried the Big S Burrito, it's a good think we went in planning to share. This thing was huge! And the flavors matched the size. I have come here to eat multiple times now and I don't know if they're not paying their electric bill or what but it was way too hot to me comfortable. It's already hot enough in Florida but the heat inside the restaurant was almost unbearable, I felt like the only thing hotter than the food was the temperature I could barely breathe. And to see all the servers having to walk back and forth from a hot kitchen to the rest of the tables I wouldn't be able to stand it. It's too hot to be working in those conditions. We've never been disappointed at the Pepitos. It's good food with nice portions and very reasonable prices. They have some things on the menu not offered by all Mexican restaurants as well. I've always enjoyed the food here, but am very disappointed in the wait staff on our latest visits. Our waiter did a subpar job, and we still gave him over 10% in tip. We just found out this was changed to over a 20% tip without out approval. I usually give a 20% tip to all waitstaff, but he managed to be completely inattentive during our meal. Our server (Luis Nava - they gave us a card for a Yelp review) didn't smile nor did he really even look our way at any point during our dinner. The food did come out quickly, but we didn't get drink refills until the very end. I had a beef taco with rice and beans. The taco meat was greasy and had some flavor, but too much salt. My poor guy's burrito looked very sad. It was a grocery store flour tortilla (not heated up, maybe old) wrapped around a measly portion of meat and topped with a little bit of shredded cheese. The prices are about $2.50 per item, but I know I could make a better burrito at home. I'm a pretty happy camper when it come to Mexican food of any kind even chains. We came as a group and the group rating was 3.5. We had 3 kids / 7 adults and came on St. Patti's day. The food came in a decent time, looked amazing but my friends from Mexico gave it a 2.5 due to flavor the highest score was a 4 but the crew loved the drinks. My food was okay I paid $6 for two tamales which needed more meat/ had a lot of breaking and $2 for 1/4 of avacado, I was not excited about that. After moving here from San Antonio we were worried about finding good Mexican food. I can say, without a doubt, this is some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. We had the Big S Burrito, chorizo queso, and Steak Fajita Nachos. I can't recommend this place enough. Update: 5 Jan 19 What happened? The service was amazing before as was the food. Now, both have slipped. The service was terrible, and the food was completely bland. When we went to Florida we ate at Pepitos twice. The chorizo dip is perfect. The amount of chorizo is just right. I ordered the fish and it was spicy in just the right way. The next time I ordered chile relleno, quesadilla, and pork tamal. The chicken in the quesadilla was great, but the rest were just fine. My husband ordered the burrito and then fajitas. A good way to start the weekend...2-for-1 margaritas (the medium size is a really good portion - the large might be just a bit dramatic!), friendly & smiling service, and good Tex-Mex/Americanized style food. The salsa had a good kick, and came right to the table served with chips. We also went for the queso, which was really well seasoned and loaded with chorizo. They have a "taqueria" menu for those looking for traditional, authentic Mexican flavors. I had the Carnitas, which was pretty mild on the seasoning, but was a huge platter for making my own tacos - and everything was very fresh. The enchiladas and burritos looked great - all of the portions are huge. The place was busy, and had a really nice buzz to it. This place has great margaritas, take advantage of the happy hour though because they are a little pricey, but worth every penny! We've tried the burritos, quesadillas and the street tacos. Out of the three the street tacos are scrumptious!! Forget about the other stuff they are just ok, the carnitas are juicy and well seasoned, the carne asada ones are my fave and the chicken ones are also great, they do have more options! In town for a bit and wanted to try some Mexican food. There are a couple of these around Niceville and now I can see why. We started with chips and salsa. Usually, we get flimsy chips, but not here. They were solid and thick chips. The salsa was amazing stuff. I went with the steak fajitas and it was good. These weren't small pieces of steak either, they were thick cut and huge. No way I could even eat half of my order. In the attached pic, they are a bit red, but I just moved them down to the cast iron and they were brown in no time. Great food.
