I wouldn't suggest deviating this far from Cleveland just to eat here. That being said, I don't regret making the trip one bit. I came to Cleveland for pierogies, and gosh darn it, I was going to eat as many as I could. These were the best pierogies I had on my trip, although I ultimately regretted my decision to order them fried. I prefer them boiled and have a feeling I would have enjoyed them even more that way. I wish I had rented an Airbnb instead of staying in a hotel so I could have taken some of the uncooked pierogies home with me. Service was fast and friendly. This is much more of a carryout spot than a sit-down restaurant, but I grabbed one of the few tables. No drinks of any kind. Had I done a little research, I would have known that beforehand. Maybe I was a little too impulsive on this one. And for an unexpected dose of nostalgia, they were using the exact same plates my parents had when I was a kid. I experienced (as to go order) the new Eastern European innovation - Pierogi Bucket! The bucket contains 30 pierogis for the price of $20. Great deal! The pierogis are golden to perfection. You have an option of adding onions or skipping them. I chose to skip the onions. The pierogis came with a generous amount of sour cream - 3 sides! I was very happy with the presentation. Who can say no to pierogi bucket?! In terms of the taste, I wasn't fully satisfied. Perhaps it's because I'm rating this as someone Eastern European with certain pierogi expectations. To me the dough was very well cooked. The inside (potato) tasted like it came out of a package as dry potato, which was disappointing. Pierogis tasted too bland, not enough salt or flavor. I would be much happier if they contain real potato and would be more flavorful. Still, I hope to stop by at Perla and order more to go orders. I'm especially interested in trying other options. They have Dubai pierogi which seems like such a tasty and viral idea! read more

I am on the Pierogi Week quest. This is my fourth stop this week! Very authentic. We ordered four combos of the pierogis and kielbasa with potato and cheddar plain, bacon, and jalapeño. In addition to cabbage rolls with sauerkraut. Then we couldn't resist the kolache cookie bundle. They had a mini selection of jarred goods like roasted red peppers and eggplant. The service was friendly and prompt. This is more of a take out place. There were tables but didn't looked like they were set up to utilize. A definite need to come back. read more

We got the bucket and some jalepeno pierogis with sausage. If McDonald's had pierogis they'd be better. I'm not even being some kind of pirogi elitist. I'll happily eat some frozen Mrs Ts. The onions were these tiny McDonald's style onion pebbles. The sausage was cheep hot dog size though I did like how they were cooked. Overall just a bummer. Maybe I just didn't order any of the good stuff? There's way better places in town that make the real deal. read more

I came here for Cleveland Scene Magazine's Pierogi week. An area of improvement would be to not charge extra for using a credit card, most people don't carry not carry cash. The food was top notch, true 5 STARS. I have eaten thousands of pierogi in my lifetime. The Slovenian Sausage was some of the best that I have ever had. Stopped for 1st time recently, after hearing about this place & was not disappointed. Picked up couple dozen pierogis of various flavors, the pierogis were excellent!! They were out of both schnitzels, bummer, but I'll call ahead next time. It was around 1:30pm on a Saturday afternoon. Had 1/2 doz cabbage rolls, some jalapeño/cheddar smokies, 1lb cabbage & noodles, even tried a couple desserts. The young lady who waited on us, was very nice & helpful...Te'a was her name. I first tried Perla's pierogis at the Bottlehouse Brewing Co. in Cleveland Heights. Thought they were pretty good, so when I came across their store in Parma, I had to buy me a couple of bags. Got a bag of the beef and shrooms and a bag of the potato, cheddar & bacon. I'm also a big fan of Sokolowski's pierogis... so when I brought home my Perlas, I married the two together and prepared them Sokolowski's style... drenched in butter and onions. Wow!! We love to stop by Perla's and pick up a couple dozen pierogis when we are in the neighborhood. They have always been friendly and helpful when we pop in. One visit, my husband and my toddler son went and were able to get the very last spatzels. They had just supplied almost all of their stock for an event or to a restaurant but found some of the last left overs and offered them to us even though it was not a full batch. We also pick up cannolis and kolaches which are an excellent dessert for any meal but especially the pierogis. read more

Pierogies are really good but guy running the counter was clueless and might have been the owner. Woman in front of us was picking up order for 30 dozen pierogies and he had no idea about it. We bought one dozen which were 3.00 more than menu posted online. Then, he charged 3.5% for using a credit card without telling me about that! When I made a comment about that he pointed to a sign which supposedly was his way of informing customers of his policy... not likely to return! read more

Prices were reasonable, service was quick and cashier was friendly and food was delicious. We bought a dozen cheddar and potato pierogies and chicken schnitzel. Highly disappointed. Have shopped with them since they opened. Was alway my go to place and recommended them to everyone. Went in today was only able to get 2 dozen because, as I was told, they are making them all for orders for the holiday, it's December 9th. Wasn't ordering anything that was not on their regular menu and it was before noon. Then when I got home and opened them they are extremely old, hard and have grey edges. Would have returned them but I do not live close to them, not worth my gas money or time to go back. read more

I tried calling to place an order, left a message, was never called back, drove out to pick up perogies they had none available and would not let me order and told me to just try back later. I was last minute & called Perla's on 12/22 to place an order. They said I was welcome to come in, they were sold out of alot of items. They also mentioned K&K Portage Meats carry their perogies & to check there. I thanked them for the heads up, we go to K&K frequently. My husband stopped by after work & they had no perogies, but he picked up pork schnitzel & spaeztle for dinner. Absolutely stunning! Butter & a frying pan is all you need to reheat. The schnitzel was crispy & flavorful, excellent with a squeeze of lemon. The spaeztle was the best I've ever had, even over my own! Annnnd I called K&K & they had periogies! I run the Parma Pierogies 5k held at Tri-C every year. As a snack after the race they offer two, yes TWO huge pierogies from here. Completely floored how amazing they were. They were so big, I could only finish one at the time. The 5k also gave you a free half pound so when I went in to get them, I also made sure to order another of the potato, cheddar and bacon. That's my families favorite. They cook up nice and light brown with onion and olive oil. The best ever and I just can't buy any of those crappy frozen ones from a store anymore. Thankful to have found this gem. There is a reason why everyone gives them 5 stars. It's the real deal and it's good! read more

Went in on a Saturday afternoon and ordered a dozen potato, cheddar, and jalapeno pierogies. Unfortunately they didn't have any but the guy at the front told me he thought they were making some and proceeded to go into the back to check for me. They were indeed makimg some and he told me it would be about 10 minutes. While I was waiting I noticed you could actually see into the kitchen and saw them hand makimg each pierogie. Once I got them they where still warm. A definite sign of just how fresh they were. Once I got home and got them into a pan with some onions to crisp them up and tried them I was floored at just how amazing they were. I can't wait to go back and try every type of pierogie they offer. If you like pierogies you have to try this place. read more

I stopped by today around 7pm. The time listed on yelp was 5-10pm so I thought maybe they're a dinner only place. Later that night I was informed that their hours are 10am to 6pm!!! The service was fantastic! The people are really nice and accommodating. They served me even though they were closed and their food is fantastic! I had the cheddar and potato pierogies and bacon, cheddar and potatos. I love the bacon on better. They added onions and sour cream! So delicious! I also had the stuffed cabbage. I had two kinds -- one with the saurkraut and the other with tomato sauce. Both were sooo good!! I like the one with saurkraut better. I finished them both. Lastly is the pastry. It is this pastry with homemade whipped cream. I mean, what isn't homemade here? I see they are hard at work in the back actually making pierogies! This is the real authentic stuff. Vegan pierogis! We'll be back, but hopefully a little less complicated next time around. We called to ask about the vegan ones, and the staff member who answered the phone didn't know if they had any, went and confirmed there were 2 dozen ready, but then had to go back and ask how much - $9.99/dozen. We said we'd be in later that day. But when we came in, pretty sure the same staff member, said she didn't know if they had any. When I explained the earlier phone call, she said she didn't know where they kept them so no vegan pierogis for us. BUT THEN, (only dumb luck) the owner and other staff walked in before we left who located the vegan pierogis. But then again same staff member had to go ask how much they were. Moral of the story - be persistent when it comes to vegan pierogis! read more

Hands down the BEST pierogies in the Cleveland area. I wish I could give it 5 more stars. Since moving back from Pierogi starved San Francisco (very few to be had there!) I have sampled as many pierogi as I can here. If you want something that tastes like its made with love by your Eastern European Gramma and her friends-THIS is the place to go to!!! I've tried probably 10+ different pierogi companies. One was really NOT as good as the hype, some were ok, most are good but nothing you'd be pining away for until Perla. I fear I will gain 100lbs but I'll be happy! And not just the pierogies, everything I got today at was FANTASTIC. The pierogi were like soft little clouds of dough and potato that just melt in your mouth. I'm not ashamed to say I ate one in the car ride home because it smelled so heavenly. We also got Borsch which was divine, full of chunky veggies and a broth I could drink daily. It came with sour cream but didn't need it. Last but not least, dessert was their home made Lady Locks. Flaky crust and the most amazing filling inside. I'm sad i only got one for myself!!! My weight is sure to go up now that I have discovered Perla Homemade, but I don't care-I'll die happy! read more

Tried their potato and cheddar pierogies today. I have to say we were quite impressed! I bought them at Chuppas to try for Ash Wednesday dinner and now I think I know where I will be ordering my pierogies for the holidays! We have been trying everywhere ever since my mom has been gone and we no longer order from those fantastic ladies from the church. These actually remind my of those! I saw them at the Cleveland Clinic Farmer's Market & liked the sample of pierogi they had. I wanted to ship a little taste of home to an Uncle in Arizona & Daniel was great in doing that. I sent pierogis, fresh & smoked kielbasa-it got there in time because he worked with me in sending it 2 days& my Uncle said it was great. The Perla smoked kielbasa is good too. My favorites are the potato cheddar jalapeno, and the "reuben" pierogies that they sell around St. Patty's Day. A couple years ago we brought some to the park and threw them on the grill. Man, was that good! Be sure to oil up the grate first and not over open flame.
