I am on the Pierogi Week quest. This is my fourth stop this week! Very authentic. We ordered four combos of the pierogis and kielbasa with potato and cheddar plain, bacon, and jalapeño. In addition to cabbage rolls with sauerkraut. Then we couldn't resist the kolache cookie bundle. They had a mini selection of jarred goods like roasted red peppers and eggplant. The service was friendly and prompt. This is more of a take out place. There were tables but didn't looked like they were set up to utilize. A definite need to come back.

I came here for Cleveland Scene Magazine's Pierogi week. An area of improvement would be to not charge extra for using a credit card, most people don't carry not carry cash. The food was top notch, true 5 STARS. I have eaten thousands of pierogi in my lifetime. The Slovenian Sausage was some of the best that I have ever had. It's neat how they are establishing an ethnic community around the Ukrainian church's on State Road in Parma.

Perlas in a pool of butter and onions. Bring it on!!!

I first tried Perla's pierogis at the Bottlehouse Brewing Co. in Cleveland Heights. Thought they were pretty good, so when I came across their store in Parma, I had to buy me a couple of bags. Got a bag of the beef and shrooms and a bag of the potato, cheddar & bacon. I'm also a big fan of Sokolowski's pierogis... so when I brought home my Perlas, I married the two together and prepared them Sokolowski's style... drenched in butter and onions. Wow!! See photo... they tasted as good as they looked! I'm awesome! I see great reviews about their pastries here. Need to come back for some of them Lady Locks!

    Perla's Perogies! Perfect!

The absolute best, freshest, yummiest goodness all stuffed into one fantastic perogie. Do not miss out on this one! This is as authentic as it gets! A must have in my freezer at all times!

Best pierogies in Northeast OH. They have vegan pierogie options as well. Family owned, right in Parma.

As a sour dill pickle lover, I really loved the cucumber-flavor pickles. They are great for the burger -- adds even more flavor without overwhelming like some pickles can. The pickles taste how I imagine they would when only half through pickling process -- a combo of discernible cucumber with a mild dill flavor. Very nice. I was disappointed with the octopus. It was delicious and uber tender, but only one small tentacle -- not enough to share with anyone. My husband and I can share a meatball at most places but this tentacle was too small. The gnocchi that accompanied it could be a dish all its own. The gnocchi with the potato alone would make a great app. or entree. We were really impressed with the food and are looking forward to round 2.

Example: Ketchup Martini had anchovy and herb oil. Confusing on the palate...and nothing stood out. Octopus dish was smothered a spicy chorizo. Had to scrap the chorizo off just to find the octopus...which had no chance of standing out after the other oils and spices. Shared fried chicken. A bit undercooked. What we could eat was ok...not extraordinary. Wine selection was abysmal. One red wine....in a can. Ceviche was excellent. Service was good.

Service is also attentive and friendly. My favourite worker who works there is an old lady, Luba from Ukraine, who I love chatting with because she just exudes joy and kindness. Plus, who doesn't love a Grandmother? There are younger workers there too who are nice. Prices are very decent. In my recent July 2024 visit, I got a Miami donut and a German Kaiser sandwich. I had never ordered any of their sandwiches before so The famous Miami donut has only gone up in price by $1.35. It cost $1.65 in 2019 and now, in July 2024, it cost $3.00. The sandwich that I ordered was a 'build your own' sandwich on Kaiser bread which was $6.50. I added turkey, tomatoes, their oil/dressing mix, and mayo on the side. The German Kaiser sandwich was a delicious second lunch for me after 3:30pm (the lunch I ate earlier in the day which I prepared at home was very light). Since my below review in 2019, I still love Michael's Bakery and I wish I lived closer to the business. While they may not be one of those "fancier" bakeries, they are still very good. Never judge a book by its cover (including inside appearance). The outside ("cover") building is simple which is fine since it tied into the neighbourhood (Brooklyn) that the bakery is located in. I'll definitely be back. I normally visit every 3-4 months.
