Stopped in as part of the Yelp Elite event and the place was ok. I ordered the lemon cheesecake mochinut which was delicious! There were so many choices and all looked delicious. Also ordered the potato and cheese "corn dog" which was a fried block of cheese with frozen diced potatoes on the outside. It was hot and greasy but ok, but my stomach will not be happy later as it was H-E-A-V-Y..... And finally something called a Tiger Sugar Dirty Latte which was an iced coffee with a TON of brown sugar and boba in it....super sweet. I couldn't finish it. I can't imagine people going here in a regular basis, but as a treat to get the mochinut I couldn't finish see folks going every once in a while! Other things to note, the service was a slow, but the corn dogs are made to order and was fresh and there was 1 employee, so that's why. It was my first time here, but I've heard a lot of hype about this place in the past. I came at about 11:30am on a Monday morning. There were two other groups there as well. Only one staff member :( The woman working answered all our questions and gave recommendations when we asked. I got the cinnamon mochinut. It was SO good! I loved it. I got the cheese and potato "dog" which didn't have a hot dog in it at all, which I was grateful for a no hot dog option. What's better than fried cheese and potatoes ?! It was HUGE! And tasty. Not something I'd ever get again though (I'm a healthy eater and as you can imagine, this was very heavy!) But was a fun, carnival type experience. I got an iced boba coffee which was good but nothing to write home about. The service was really slow, but there was only one staff member doing everything by herself. I just felt bad for her. Came in for the Be My Elite Yelp event after a couple of years of being off the squad. I visited this location after opening awhile back and was hoping for an improved experiences so was excited to try it again. First I'll start with the good: I tried the half and half Korean corn dog with ramen, mango Mochinut and Ube drink with tapioca. The food is delicious now and was delicious in the past. You can't go wrong with Mochinut offerings! So tasty. The young woman who brought my corn dog from the back was also very sweet and pleasant and gave great service. The ambiance and photo backdrop was also really cute. Now for the not so good: The guy behind the counter seemed like he was genuinely put off by me being there for a yelp event. While we were trying to order, there was another gentleman changing the video menu screens and we couldn't see the menus. We were trying to order and he just did not care. After making my selection and including ube, the guy behind the counter asked me if I knew what ube was and if I was sure. I love ube, I'm a foodie.. lol.. I tried not to be offended as I'm sure it's not everyone's cup of tea but was just sort of off-putting. He just didn't seem excited at all to have me as his guest. He also made the drinks and they were nothing like the pictured menu in the tall cylinders which is part of the fun of having them. The restaurant tables seemed clean enough but there were receipts and trash on the ground. The claw machine menu wasn't functioning but my daughter figured it out. Sadly the wait was 20 mins and we were the only people in the restaurant. By the time we left there were probably 10 people. I have to wonder how long everyone else waited. Sadly this was my experience when they opened and that's why we never came back- very, very slow for fast casual. I am such a fan of small businesses, especially ones in my own backyard. I didn't know what options were available. I did know it was a ramen place. So for me the cost is about $2 higher than it should be. I fully understand that overhead is up for businesses. But ramen cost is still very low when you think of it. Any addition to the ramen was met with a cost increase. So I added the kimchi. And I expected to have a reasonable amount for the soup. Nope. I received less than a teaspoon. Yep. Not tablespoon. I said teaspoon. I think for selection, the ramen choice was good. But the additions were lacking. I was limited on what I wanted to add. It would have been nice to add mushrooms or leaks or peppers. Or anything else. More selections will give value to my ramen entree. Taste has everything to do with items available to spruce up a bowl of ramen noodles. The fact is there isn't any good additions. So the taste can't be increased to anything. My soup tasted like something I can do in my kitchen at home with a 99 cent ramen noodle package. I would like to come back again. But I am not sure I can unless they offer more options. For me personally this location has never disappointed. I first saw them in TikTok and I knew I had to at least try it. The guy kind of oversold it a little bit, but it still made it something that you just had to experience for yourself. The food is always hot and fresh. The store is clean, friendly, and well lit. Little things prevent it from five stars for me -- you can't just get a cup of water you have to buy a bottle which is crazy to me for a brick and mortar food place, I understand for a truck, but you can get a cup of water at an ice cream place? I know that's small but these noodles can be hot!! and when we were confused by the ramen menu we had strangers explaining it to us and were very clearly googling things while some of the team just kind of... watched. I have tried Mochinut from California & Virginia before, and this branch does not disappoint. This location offer not only mochinut and bubble tea but also Korean hotdog and soft serve icecream. I tried the mochidonut (original glazed, nutella, lotus, raspberry funnel cake and chocolate heath. I love the texture of mochidonut that is chewier than regular donut. I don't know what happened to this place. We ordered half a dozen mochinuts which are always the same which isn't the problem. The issue I had was we also ordered 2 drinks that just didn't taste good. It tasted like instant Thai iced tea and the strawberry lemonade was just so not worth ordering. The last thing we ordered was the mozzarella hot Cheetos corn dog and that was just horrible. My wife said it tasted old and the breading was soggy after taking one bite. My best friend took me here for the first time for my birthday, and it was a really great experience!! The dining area was very clean, the staff was very attentive and helpful when I had questions about the menu. I recently relocated from Los Angeles where Mochinut was a neighborhood staple for me. I finally got homesick enough to venture to the Westlake location for comfort. It did not disappoint! Everything was as delicious as I remember and I was so happy they had an ube flavor on the menu. The location feels huge compared to the LA stores with lots of seating and photo backgrounds for social media. The service has been pleasant the couple of times I have gone but it could be friendlier and possibly more fun. The HYPE here is real and the Mochi Donuts are tasty but depending on the time of day that you visit, they may not be as fresh. I first visited on 2 October 2022 with my friend Christina. That day was their soft opening day because the corn dogs were not available then yet; hence, "soft" opening day. I visited again on 21 October 2022 and I came again another time. The opening day was BUSY and my friend and I stood in line for about 30 minutes. I was going to leave but my friend and I drove from Crocker Park together in her car so she was my lift/ride back to Crocker Park. MOCHI DOUGHNUTS -- These are very chewy which is a unique texture for a donut - this is because they are made from rice flour. The rice flour give the donuts the stretchy and chewy texture. All donuts are made with the same base but topped with a different coating. There are always a variety of donut flavours to choose from. I've had the churro flavour (too sweet), Oreo flavour (also too sweet), the regular donut, etc. When I tried the matcha or green tea flavour, it was really dry and not as soft which meant that it had been sitting out for a while. DRINKS -- They offer bubble tea ranging in price from $5.75 to $6.25. I've their their Brown Sugar flavour ($6.25) and their Green Tea flavour ($5.75) and the Brown sugar one is definitely my favourite. The Brown Sugar is sweeter than the green tea drink and has a more pronounced flavour. CORN DOGS -- I haven't tried these but I've read mixed reviews about them, mostly about how the dough sometimes isn't cooked all the way through. I hardly eat corn dogs and I never eat hot dogs so I can't comment on these. Try them for yourself if you like corn dogs. I recommend visiting in thr morning for a better chance of getting donuts fresh out of the oven (warm and soft). I know I'll be back but the question is when? Not a bad place and I'm here for the mochi donut texture. I just think most of their toppings are too sugary/sweet. The base don't isn't sweet, the flavor comes from the toppings. I've had the strawberry, the chocolate the matcha, I've had quite a few and they quite sweet. Good for a craving for sweet mochi. I've tried the bubble tea (matcha specifically) and it was too sweet for me but that's on me for not checking if they could adjust the sugar level. On another occasion I finally got to try the dien dog and it was hella hella fried and they lack an option of sauces. I had korean corn dogs before and these just weren't up to par. I so wanted to love this place. Based on the line of 90 people on opening day( I was number 2 ) , so did everyone else. I have never seen a business mess up so many things on so many levels. I was able to get one of everything. Which were donuts and boba. Here is where they failed. No communication that they would not have corn dogs or more than a handful of donut flavors. I understand not having them flavors. And maybe even not having corn dogs. I do not understand with all the ways you can communicate with social media why you don't communicate that you aren't going to have these things. Then I go back when they have corn dogs and again they are limited menu and they make you wait 1 hour and 15 Minutes , once you order , for a corn dog. Just seemed like a lack of care cause half the time there was no one behind the counter anyway. For example.... (I CAN NOT make this stuff up) While we were there waiting for forever they lost two customers due to the fact that no one came to ask for their order. I thought it would be my least favorite but I ended up ordering a second one to split with my boyfriend at home. All of the mochinuts were chewy and fluffy, the absolute perfect texture for my neurodivergent a-...self. Happy to see that Mochinut has finally made its way to Ohio. These donuts are made with mochi, giving it a unique chewy texture to this delightful treat. Each week Mochinut Westlake features about 8 different flavors which can be found on their Instagram page mochinut_westlake and it's awesome how they can keep coming up with a variety of tasty and creative treasures that are so pleasing to the eye. A dozen of these babies would make an excellent treat to bring to a house when you don't want to come empty handed. Because they are shaped like beads in a circle, they pull apart easily and you can share among friends who "just want to try it". Trust, they'll go back for more. If you need a little protein before the dessert, order one of the crazy corn dog concoctions. When I was there, I saw corn dogs covered in flaming hot cheeto dust, french fry pieces, one covered in some kind of blue dusting. I got the coffee, half and half hot Cheetos and half and half potato along with three mochinuts (cookies and cream, strawberry with sprinkles, and raspberry funnel cake). Coffee - overall it's good if you enjoy something similar to Vietnamese iced coffee. I compare it to this because of the strong and bitter coffee flavor followed by a little sweetness. I normally drink my coffee black so I like bitter flavors, so don't get this if that's not your thing. Half and half hot Cheetos - this is the star of the show. I think the batter they use has a slight sweetness so this combined with the hot Cheetos flavor was incredible. Since I got the half and half I'd say it pairs better with the cheese compared to the hot dog. Half and half potato - the potato's were nice and crispy, and with the hint of sweetness from the batter and the gooey cheese I definitely enjoyed it. I thought it would be good with ketchup but I think the cheese part of the half and half didn't need it but the hot dog part was better with the ketchup. Mochinuts - the strawberry with sprinkles and the raspberry funnel cake had nice fresh fruit flavors instead of artificial flavor. I don't think the "donuts" are particularly sweet so this was nice. The cookies and cream one was harder to eat cuz the white chocolate on top was kinda crumbly but they were all good.
