It was delicious and uber tender, but only one small tentacle -- not enough to share with anyone. My husband and I can share a meatball at most places but this tentacle was too small. The gnocchi that accompanied it could be a dish all its own. The gnocchi with the potato alone would make a great app. or entree. I love a good dive bar, however Never Say Dive is a bit more elevated when it comes to the food choices. I really wanted to try the deviled eggs, but they were out. There definitely some other things that caught my eye, but decided on just the wings. It was later in the evening. I believe the server said they were gochujang, though the flavor was a bit different than the gochujang I'm used to. They definitely packed a kick of heat. Overall I enjoyed them. I had never ordered any of their sandwiches before so The famous Miami donut has only gone up in price by $1.35. It cost $1.65 in 2019 and now, in July 2024, it cost $3.00. The sandwich that I ordered was a 'build your own' sandwich on Kaiser bread which was $6.50. I added turkey, tomatoes, their oil/dressing mix, and mayo on the side. The German Kaiser sandwich was a delicious second lunch for me after 3:30pm (the lunch I ate earlier in the day which I prepared at home was very light). Since my below review in 2019, I still love Michael's Bakery and I wish I lived closer to the business. While they may not be one of those "fancier" bakeries, they are still very good. Never judge a book by its cover (including inside appearance). The outside ("cover") building is simple which is fine since it tied into the neighbourhood (Brooklyn) that the bakery is located in. They have a nice selection of Gallucci branded goods like pasta sauces and even cater to restaurants prepared foods like meatballs and eggplant cutlets. The spice section is nicely priced too. During my first visit to Gallucci, I bought some dried cilantro ($1.44) and minced garlic ($4) as well as a small orange flavored almond nougat candy that I impulsively bought for about 0.50 and then immediately regretted not buying more! The minced garlic unfortunately got all in between my teeth when I used it on a dish the next day. Sadly, I was looking for more of a snack collection than they had here. Or even some frozen desserts like gelato or panetone or those delightfully sinful Mulino Bianco Galleti cookies I dream of eating again. Most of what is here is good for making homemade pizzas and sandwiches. That's pretty cool although it was interesting that they closed up the deli counters way before their 6pm closing time when I stopped by a couple of days ago. I would be much happier if they contain real potato and would be more flavorful. Still, I hope to stop by at Perla and order more to go orders. I'm especially interested in trying other options.
