It's a tricky thing when you're hiring a photographer because you never know if they are going to capture that feeling/ ambiance you are looking for. More importantly you never know if you'll work well together. If you don't feel comfortable with the photographer or if they don't give you enough direction, the pictures won't turn out. Being a sometime photographer myself, I am pretty picky when it comes to photos. Carl was thorough in giving tips for before the shoot like what to wear, making a Pinterest board, etc. He was very relaxed when we met which made it easy to spend the next 1.5 hrs together. What I appreciated the most is that he took the time to make sure the pose and lighting was just right. He also paid attention to details like my hair or if something was on my dress or patting down weeds. Most importantly, he has the eye for creative shots. He nailed the vibe I was going for. Angie is definitely a saleswoman and is passionate about photography. I signed a contract for a booking for a work photo. My employer decided not to pay for the booking. I was stuck with a potential $700+ bill, not including the non-refundable $400 +tax booking fee. I lost a family member a few days before my photo session. I rescheduled before the 3 day window. I ended up with cervical cancer and never completed my session. Sometimes, you have to lose money to learn not to sign contracts. It is not uncommon for photographers to have non refundable retainers. My biggest complaint is communication. It was difficult to reach someone via phone. Emails are usually returned within 3 days.
