This place is as essential to my life as gas in my car. The joy of getting from point A to point B, finding something, building something, creating something is priceless. The coffee shop is a bonus. I had never been in Bonney Lake before meeting my now husband of 5 plus years, and I have developed the habit of coming here whenever anything happens in my life. Everything is expensive these days, but I come to Ben Franklin to walk the aisles and feel my feelings. I come here when I am sad, scared, happy, excited. Through celebrations and losses, milestones and ordinary days, it has been a constant place of comfort, creativity, and possibility. I do not usually let staff at any store affect my day one way or another. They have their own lives and stories that I know nothing about... every employee I have encountered here has been kind, helpful, and genuinely pleasant. My child is growing up with paintbrushes instead of iPads, with crochet hooks and yarn, fabric, puzzles, sewing machines, and handmade keepsakes that become symbols of memory. She is learning how to create, imagine, and build with her own hands. A big part of that is because this place exists. We truly love Ben Franklin Crafts. Please do not go anywhere. read more

Normally we enjoy going into Ben Franklins to browse and see what we can find. This time we went in and inquired about custom framing. The lady working with us gave us a few options without telling us any pricing. When she finally told us the price, we were a little shocked. The lady seemed annoyed with our response. Instead of asking us about what our budget was or anything, she began giving us less than favorable options that were way less inexpensive. We left feeling annoyed and frustrated with the experience. My wife and I visited this Ben Franklin store recently. We arrived at 5:40 p.m. on Sunday (and out by 5:50) understanding they closed at 6:00 p.m. We knew what we needed and planned to run in and run out. As we walked through the front door there were 4 (maybe 5) employees standing in a half circle staring at us w/ annoyed looks as if to say "why are you here?". After a brief moment, one "Karen" looked at us and said "you have 20 minutes before we close" and nothing else. Not "welcome" or "welcome in". It was very uncomfortable. This was rude and inexcusable! If you close at 5:40 p.m., then post it. If you close at 6:00 p.m., then stay open until 6:00 p.m. and certainly don't make potential customers feel unwelcome for coming in before closing. Ben Franklin is a RETAIL STORE that relies on customers and particularly, repeat customers. Until customer service is addressed, we will stay away. read more

Friendly service, and they have things no one else has. Prices can be high on some things but they also always have good deals and good sales. I go in there at least once a month and browse around and I almost always find something i have to have and lots of good deals. Their selection of quilting fabrics is kind of amazing for such a small store. And so are their paper crafting supplies. Then there's the classes. If you want to learn a new craft there's probably a class for it. And I am adding this update because I recently had an old heirloom photo framed here. The lady who helped me design the finished product is very good at what she does and I am so happy with it. I am yet again.. extremely disappointed with how the owner decided to respond to my review, so I have decided to make another one to express said disappointment at the ignorance, because the owner saying I don't know the whole situation when I was present and he was not even in store and had heard it from his supervisor who heard it from his guilty employee. That is not valid and I do not accept that at all. . "You don't want to repeat your staffs experience with him publicly" so why don't you let me as I would be more than happy to recall all that went down yesterday as someone who was actually there and witnessed this happen. We were bullied by your staff and I will not continue to be belittled by the owner. Could you explain to me how you know more about the situation when you weren't even present? Your employers exhibited bully and clique behavior. Ganging up on my father a would be paying customer was disgusting. He is almost deaf in one ear so accusing him of yelling when he simply can't hear as well. Oooh do I call ableism. And kicking him out for it? It's really starting to not look good for you. Oh so we should just let YOUR employees that YOU hired and YOU trained treat us however they please? Oh alright. Because let me tell you it wasn't pleasant from the very beginning. Is that in any way rude or aggressive? And I gave you multiple examples twice of how they treated us in my first review and to completely disregard what I said and just side with your employees is shocking. Just wow. You sir are the one who "may not know all of what happened." I saw it with my own two eyes you weren't there like what a joke of an owner. People are tired, it's 2025 and they are not going to take what is such clear disrespect. Y'all ain't right. But it's wrong when my dad gives them back the exact same energy THEY started with. We were having a happy family outing which was quickly turned sour by YOUR worker who can sure dish it but can not take a little confrontation which she sure has no problem confronting customers over bullshit reasons. But when it comes to him treating her the exact way she treated my him she retaliated and tattled to the whole store like the rat she is. Joann Fabric store on steroids! That had something for everyone. I should have brought another suitcase just to bring everything home! Though I was most excited for the die cut station, I didn't use it. It was a little overwhelming because there was SO MUCH to choose from. I loved that they had Christmas things throughout the store. They had a little plaid section. They had aisles and aisles of wood and I was just in heaven. Prices were so reasonable and were actually CHEAPER than Michael's and Joann!! read more

The staff in this particular location follow and harass people who they do not feel belong in the area. I was touring around for arts and craft supplies, where I was approached by not two, not three, but four or more employees throughout the time that I was in the shop for less than an hour. I will clarify that I did still end up checking out and purchasing items, although I wanted to ditch my whole cart and leave. I was a paying customer and I was followed through the store the entire time, confronted by multiple employees and putting my frustrations aside I did check out. I was asked how my experience was, I let the cashier know that I was extremely uncomfortable being followed throughout the store. Upon that conversation, I did start to cry unfortunately, and I was publicly embarrassed, and humiliated. At the register, whoever was speaking let me know that they have seen a lot of " drug users" and "thieves" enter their store and go straight to the art section that I was browsing. For this reason is why they were profiling me. The admission to fault and half attempt to console me made me realize that people like me, or people who look like me, may not be welcome in this town. I'm a fan of this location. Sometimes the prices are a bit high but I like the niche they've built in regards to the type of products they stock. If you're looking for a wide variety of wood products, this is a good place. In addition to that, I have to say pricing a is a bit higher than shops like Hobby Lobby, but I definitely appreciate their unique access to products. Again, pricing is something I weigh in between available product and this place seems to have a good balance. I have been shopping at Ben Franklin for 15 years and it has progressively changed over over again. The paper section used to be amazing and the flowers used to be of a much higher quality and very lovely. :( And then today, I went in and all of the markers were locked up behind several glass cabinets. I have spent a lot of money at this store, having shopped there since they opened, only to be treated very rudely during Covid. They did not honor the governor's medical exemptions for the mask mandates. I have found about 1/4 of the staff are friendly. Most are rude or indifferent. Maybe it's an unpleasant work environment? Awful staff/customer service, I felt harassed and never been so disrespected at a store before. The sales associate made assumptions that I came into the store to steal the items there. She had asked me to close my bag because they deal with theft, and kept interrogating me about my intentions as I was shopping, when I was just trying to find materials that match my own samples I brought into the store. I had even offered to show them my samples to clear the suspicions. I clearly expressed that I was uncomfortable, and she continued to question if my own sample was a stolen item from the store. Had to involve the manager, and she excused the harassing behavior from the sales associate. So awful. read more

This place does 6pm to midnight scraps every month. You get the whole store to yourself with x number of other scrappers and generally an entire table to yourself to spread your stuff out and get some serious scrap booking done! BONUS: you get a percentage (i think 10%) off all scrapbook stuff you buy while there. The scrapbook section is a corncopia of papers, brads, patches, lables, tags and other great things complete with diecutter and large selectionof dies. The store itself? its pretty good, your usual big box craft store... so a lot of stupid stuff among the awesome finds. If you don't mind searching for a while to find what your looking for this is a good place... Like I said 6 hours of pure scrapbooking at a reasonable price with no kids, phone calls, or work to bug you? Cool! read more

Quite possibly one of the rudest bunch of retail sales staff I ever encountered in my life. I don't know if it's because they hate their jobs and would rather be elsewhere, or if they give preferential treatment to people who 'look crafty', because I saw the girl at the front counter actually be nice and helpful to the customer she was ringing out. I just had a basic question about where to find something, and was shoved off to go talk to someone in beads, who was a little bit helpful, but also a little bit on the rude side. The next time I have the need to go to a craft store, I'll bite the bullet and drive to Puyallup to the Joann Fabrics and Crafts. This is like the second time now that I've gone in there looking for something specific, was looked at funny, and was treated poorly. read more

I LOVE this store, and the staff is so outgoing, helpful, and friendly. It's like going to Nordstrom's without the high price tags and the commissioned sales people. lol Seriously, they have in-store deals and they also have a mailing list where you can get special money-off coupons. While their fabric selection isn't huge, they offer help for $12 where you can come in and they will help you with any sewing project. You won't find that in too many places these days. The staff takes pride in making sure that you have the help you need. In fact, for their Black Friday sale, I was able to score four yards of quilt batting for 40% off. That was worth the trip in itself. They have something for everybody. I think it would be a challenge to enter that store and not leave with at least two items. This locating feels a lot smaller then the Redmond location and I still find myself frustrated since they do not offer the same sales and coupons as their competitors. I normally don't leave reviews but I have to share this particular one. I was looking for a poster frame to be sized for a gift that we are getting a friend of ours for their wedding. Blame it on us but it was a last-minute effort in getting this gift completed. Needless to say I went to Walmart Target Bed Bath & Beyond Michaels Jo-Ann Fabrics to see if 1. They had the frame for this particular size poster in stock 2. If not could they custom create this Frame and 3. if they custom create it can it be done in 2 days or less. All these places not only said they couldn't do it and that it would take 2 weeks to do but weren't the friendliest in their response although we procrastinated, I was looking for a little sympathy knowing that I I had 2 days to get this gift completed and maybe figuring out a solution together. Needless to say two days later, I went over to Ben Franklin s craft in Bonney Lake, met with Sam like green eggs and ham as she told me and together was friendly and very helpful i. saving the day. She was sympathetic and understanding and knew that what I needed done was time-sensitive and needed to be done in 3 hours or less. Without breaking the bank I was able to complete this project get the gift done and walk out that door feeling like husband of the year. highly highly recommend this place if you have not been in there before you'll be amazed and surprised of all the different things they have there. I look at it as taking all your Fabric and Craft stores combining them together on steroids is what Ben Franklin is. Especially their fidget spinner collection is awesome. I feel like I have pretty much grown up with this place. I see the same familiar faces when I go in now as an adult! I LOVE that they offer Scrapbooking Nights. 6 hours to set up and get uninterrupted time to scrapbook, with unlimited resources at your finger tips! Plus you get a discount that night!! I love all the cool craft samples they have on each aisle, giving you an idea on projects you can do. I've gotten plenty of great gift ideas simply walking in and wandering around! read more

I really enjoy this store and will bypass my local Joann's (Southcenter) to go to Bonney Lake instead for craft supplies. If you've succumbed to the coloring craze (I have) then this is a FABULOUS place to go - they are clearly going "all in" themselves and are expanding their supplies for coloring fans. They JUST added open stock for ALL colors of Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils which I can't even get at the Dick Blick store (online yes, store, no). I like being able to look at the colors and growing my collection. They also have open stock for Prismacolors and some pens. Plus...a really good selection of coloring books (some that I haven't seen elsewhere in person). I've never personally had any serious problems with customer service, although on my last trip, one of the buyers seemed a little bent out of shape when I was explaining something to another customer (a man trying to buy a gift for his fiancé who likes to color). Most of the staff has been very helpful and there is nothing to keep me from coming back. I *am* aware of prices while shopping at Ben Franklin - unfortunately there are some things where Ben Franklin is just unable to compete with Amazon on pricing (and when the difference is a 30, 40, 50% or more difference, I really can't rationalize spending that much more to support a local business). I've always enjoyed the seasonal decorating items in this store but the selection seems to be a bit less than several years ago. However, they have some nice displays and great ideas to spruce up seasonal decorating at home. I personally enjoy making a bit of a trip South to visit this craft store over others. I can make a day trip out of moseying through Sumner's historic downtown with a trip up the hill to Bonney Lake and Ben Franklin and a great coffee next door at Ben's Espress and/or lunch (or a late breakfast) at Hungry Dawg's diner in the same shopping center. read more
