A few days ago I went to see Astrid to get my balding caterpillars (my eyebrows) done and liner on the top of my lids. I can't say enough good things about the results! I wake up with the perfect brows now and what looks like mascara but is just liner. Definitely shortened my daily routine. I'm loving it! The lid liner procedure was just a tickle but the brows felt a little more like an aggressive tickle so when Astrid sensed my discomfort, she was kind enough to numb them up for me and after that, we both talked and laughed through the whole thing. Astrid Schneider no longer has the office in Potomac, but has one in Chevy Chase. I've had permanent makeup before. Astrid overcharged and did a poor job. The "eyebrows" she creates are thicker than any real hair and her technique is not natural looking either. I have what amounts to permanent scarring and hope I can find someone to fix it. Beware. I recently had my eyebrows filled in and shaped by Astrid at Permanent Line. I was skeptical of having a procedure like this performed and waited almost a year to go through with it (I wanted to give my eyebrows time to grow in themselves - i.e. no plucking or waxing for one whole year). After the year of waiting, I had had enough of filling in my eyebrows everyday and decided to take the plunge. I went from having very sparse eyebrows (they looked a lot like tadpoles) to beautiful and natural looking eyebrows that have a well-defined shape. I am so incredibly happy with how they turned out! The color matches my skin tone and natural eyebrow hair perfectly. Honestly no one would know I had them done unless I told them and everyone that does know now wants to make their own appointment with Astrid. (Seriously, even my boyfriend who knew I was having the procedure forgot about it on that day and didn't even notice at first when I came home and had to remind him that I had them done. He has given me so many compliments since then on how they turned out that it makes me love my decision even more). For those of you that are worried about the pain - don't be! The initial injections of the numbing agent do hurt a little, but no more than a pinch, and it's over so quickly, you barely notice! Afterwards you won't feel a thing. I did experience a dull headache and bruising a few hours after the procedure (but I bruise easily so that may be just me). I have, however, been able to successfully cover up the slight bruising with concealer and powder. This is only my second day after having them done and I can say I wish I had had my eyebrows done sooner! If you are slightly contemplating having this done - I highly recommend Astrid. I highly recommend this business! Astrid Harper is an artist and also a very warm person. She has many years of experience and is a perfectionist in her work - which she clearly enjoys. She did my eyeliner, brows and full lips all within the past 18 months. She has a light touch and was generous with the topical anesthetic so it was practically painless. She assured me that she was happy to have me come back for touch ups until I was 100% satisfied. I did, and I am!!! (I had a bit of stubborn scarring that required a little extra color). It was well worth the 75 minute drive from my home near DC. The recovery from all these services was very easy! I had been to someone else about 10 years ago and I had trouble with prolonged scabbing and so much discomfort that I wouldn't go back. Now that I have been to Astrid - I really know the difference! I went to Astrid couple years ago and did my eyebrows it was good so I also did an eyeliner. After its start to fade away I went to her for a touch up and this time she completely mess it up. My color was too dark way off from my hair color and when she did a touch up for the eyeliner she put the dot on my eyelid with a permanent make. It's just unbelievable. So when I came back and ask her to fix it she said that nothing she can do about it besides just make it thicker which is last thing I wanted to do after this disaster. And also she suggested me to look it myself less at the mirror which is I think very insulting thing to say! Anyway I call after a few days and ask for my refund at least what I paid for touch up and I never even got any response. Left the voicemail-nothing she is like disappear from this planet. Anyway long story shot. Bad job. Bad costumer follow up service. Don't go there because if u don't like your result u r on your on! I have used Astrid three times and have had a terrific outcome on every occasion- the first visit was about 7 years ago, when I went to her for eyeliner. I soon followed that with eyebrows, and then last winter, I went back for a "refresh" (the vegetable dyes absorb/fade after about 5 years). I have HATED my eyebrows for as long as I can remember and have struggled to pencil them in so that they look natural. I had stayed away from tattooing them on as it looks very unnatural. I had my eyebrows, upper and lower eyeliner, and lips done by Astrid and couldn't be more pleased -- just wish I had done it sooner. My initial session was in January followed by 3 revisions in Feb, Mar, and Apr to get just the look I wanted. The time in between sessions allowed the color and my skin to normalize so that I could see what the effect truly was at that point. For example, I originally had only partial lip shading done, but then decided it looked like I had eaten my lipstick off, so during my 2nd revision, had full color done on my lips. I also thought the eyeliner color I selected was too harsh, so Astrid applied another color on top of it that softened it up to just the right shade. In the 2nd revision, I asked her to adjust the shape of my lipline and one upper eyeline, and to give me a few more brow strokes. In the last revision, I got a few more brow strokes on each brow. The shape, while more defined than my au natural state, is totally natural-looking and very flattering, and tweezing is now a breeze because I just tweeze outside of the permanent shape! Through it all, Astrid never made me feel that I was being a bother and couldn't have been more pleasant or professional -- I actually enjoyed each session of being essentially tattooed! I travel a lot, and having permanent make-up will save me a lot of time and greatly reduce my must-take travel toiletries. But even more, I'm now face-ready at any hour of the day, no matter how I'm feeling, what my hair looks like, or how bedraggled the rest of me may be -- and that's more of a morale booster than I ever would have thought. To Tee K who is so unhappy with her results, I would highly encourage you to give Astrid a chance to enhance her work. Just a few strokes can make a huge difference. And to anyone who is considering permanent make-up, I would suggest going in with your make-up just as you want it to be so that the technician knows the look you're going for. And in deciding who to trust with your look, I cannot recommend Astrid highly enough. I understand refreshes are needed after a few years, so I for one am hoping she's in business for a long time to come! read more

Astrid did my eyeliner (top and bottom), lip liner and lip color, and my eyebrows. I first had the eyeliner done very lightly, in a soft, navy blue color, in the 1990's. In 2009 I had her touch up eyeliner again and she applied it a bit thicker. I trust her expertise and talent and she is the only person I would to do my permanent makeup. I swim quite a bit and am still working, so I love fact that I always look my best and even better, I save so much time applying makeup. She feathered in lightly on my eyebrows and I as I am getting older, I think I may have her do a bit more in this area. I had my lips done twice but they don't hold the pigment well, just my chemistry so I won't do them again. After watching 3 of my friends get permanent makeup (eyeliners, lips and eye brows) with Astrid and seeing the results, I decided myself to get my eyebrows done. It was one of the best things I've ever done for myself! It made such a difference not having to worry about my pencil coming off or dripping down if I went swimming. No worries! I was free and looked good! The way she does the feathering to make It look like hair is so natural looking. I was so worried about the dye changing color because I'm blonde. It was the perfect color and didn't change. It faded after about 5 yrs, so I had it done again. That was to be expected. To not worry about brows rubbing off during the day for 5 yrs, definitely worth it. I recommend her highly! I'm just sad she moved so far away, but I'd drive that far again if and when I need it again! I would not trust anyone else to do it. It's my face for goodness sake! read more
