FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD I do NOT recommend this service. They are straight up scamming folks. I filled out a form for a permit on 8/27/24 to reserve a parking spot for my move on 9/13/24. I did not receive an email confirmation just a message on the screen saying my permit was being processed. The Sunday prior to my move I still had not been contacted by anyone. I was headed out of town for business and this time went directly to my states website to look up parking permits for moves. Found the information and purchased my permit for $41. On Monday, 9/9 I was contacted by an Alma Cruz. She did not introduce herself or explain what she was contacting me in regards to. I was at work and reading these emails from my phone and unfortunately assumed it was the city contacting me as I had just pulled my permit the night before. She was asking me a bunch of q's and we went back and forth and finally she said I was all set. I was never informed how much anything would cost, next steps, nothing. When I got home I noticed a charge for $41. I was confused because I had already been charged $41 the night before for my permit. Then I got a charge for $222 from a company called Porch. WTF? I was very confused I looked at the vague invoice which only says Customer Payment on it. Doesn't say what it is for company information nothing. I then connected the dots. Reached out to Alma and explained that I had already purchased my permit and don't need their service as I had reached out over a week ago and never heard from anyone. She said it was too late because they already bought the permit. I said I was fine to pay the $41 for the permit but don't need their service and she had someone else reach out and tell me it was too late. They do 10 min of work and are charging over $200 they should let folks know prior to being charged what they do and how much it is going to cost. The pricing is NOT transparent. I'm disputing it through my bank and with the BBB but do yourself a favor and pull the permit yourself its not hard. Message me and I can help you out. I'll even pull it for you it takes 10 minutes and not worth the headache or $222 you're going to be charged for their "work." None of the people that were in touch with me matched her people that I actually spoke to. The invoice comes through as Porch, but you open it and it says Movingpermits.com but the people who contact you are from Permitpullers.com, inc. Shady, shady, shady. read more

I placed an order on 11/20/24 for a Boston parking permit needed from 12/17-12/19. I was moving from another state, and needed someone in town to secure the permit for my moving pod. I spent the entire week prior to when I needed the permit trying to get an update from Permit Puller. There had ben zero communication from then since I placed the order. I FINALLY got someone to confirm for me on 12/13, that they had received the permits and would get them up the same day. The permits were not put up until a couple days later. Luckily, this was just in the nick of time. I took down the permits myself, although I had placed the order to have Permit Pullers do it, because I didn't trust they would and I didn't want a fee from the City for tardy permit removal. Then came the payment. When you place your order, it doesn't tell you how much the service will cost. I was invoiced $109 on 12/16 and paid it. Then, yesterday, on 1/8, I was sent an invoice for $249, with them saying their payment system screwed up and I now owe them $140. There really isn't an alternative competing service to use but, if you can, avoid using Permit Puller. Whatever headache/stress you'll be saving by not having to go get your own permit will only result in a series of other headaches/stresses. read more

Would not recommend this service. I ordered a permit and was charged for it....unfortunately, permit pullers never provided the permit. Seems like a scam or fraudulent business. I've been calling for resolution, however no return calls are made. I will now have to find an alternative way to obtain the permit. Very frustrating and extremely discourteous on their part......the staff who answer the phones are not trained effectively to problem solve. read more

At the end of my experience with this company it felt like a scam. They offer an additional "site review" fee which I paid for expecting someone to review and ensure my parking space was appropriately marked off. A day before my container arrived I find out that I am responsible for clearing out and barricading my own space. Upon asking for clarification about what the site review fee was for, I was ignored and never received a response (from an email I had exchanged messages with before). I reached out 4 times in effort to get this clarification and never received a response. Seems like shady customer service to ignore your customers after their money has been obtained, even when they are kindly asking for clarification. I happened to be moving cross country so the fact that no one was there to ensure the space was marked off was pivotal to experience of my move. I would never recommend! read more

I used MovingPermits.com to pull permits for a move from one Boston neighborhood to another, unbeknownst to me both sides required permitting to allow the moving truck to park on the street. I was so happy that I used this service after trying to figure the process out myself amidst all of the other moving parts. Using this service was the least stressful part of my move, PP arranged the permits, placed No Parking Signs and flyers and removed them promptly. The customer service rep was awesome; professional and patient...he assured me that they had the process under control and they did. It's not often that I would get so excited over this type of service but it was necessary, efficient and well-worth the cost. read more

The job was done quickly and effectively and for that I am thankful. That said, the pricing was quite misleading. While I understand there are variables that come into play, it shouldn't be hard to provide a ballpark price rather than providing numbers ($84 service fee, $9 hanging fee, $25 rush fee) and then charging more than double. It worked great, but you have to dig around the checkout page to have any idea what they're charging you. Once you find that number (which is not front and center because they know it'll deter you), plan on it doubling. read more

I've referred dozens of my friends to this company. *I have changed my prior negative review because the representative I spoke to resolved the issue however I still did not hear from the owner and the resolution was sent via email still not providing an apology but saying "hoping this resolves the matter". After removing the negative comments, I still have the following suggestions. Recommendation from a customer to the owner: 1. Although you're in many cities now, update your online platform to show the maximum amount of days you can pull permits for for each city you operate out of. For example: I live in LA and the MAX is 3 days - let me select one to three days. I live in Boston, only give me the option of selecting 2 days, not 3 if the City doesn't even allow it. Simple fix. 2. Rather than have your employee's reference their notes about very important conversations with your clients, have an email generated that shows the client confirmation. 3. The papers that should go on cars that are parked in the spots where the permits are letting them know they need to move, mail them to your customer rather than leave them outside on a stoop. It rained and all of these notifications were stuck together and wet. I worked with this company approximately 4 or 5 years & 6 years ago. Both times the experience was much more hands-on and customer focused. Kudos to the owner for expanding into more cities, however don't forget your grassroots A+ customer service that I'm sure was a major attribute to your companies growth. read more

Dave's a nice guy, and helpful, too. I've used this service twice. Yeah, I know, plenty of people just wing it and try to make it work without the permits. I'm boring, I play by the rules (most of the time). I wish it weren't so expensive. But I guess it's akin to tickets at Fenway, if people will pay it, then why would you charge less? They placed permits at the wrong address. I had to find them & do it myself. Noticed my papers weren't up the day before my POD arrived & cars parked weren't givin proper notice. What a racket! Pods quoted me $85 for city a permit to have pod in the street but then directed me to permit puller to have the permit pulled (city does not allow individuals to pull a permit). The fee for the city permit $85, the service fee from permit puller $85!!! Which was not clear when pulling the permit or I would not have used. Ridiculous!! Complaints will be made to city and pods as well. read more

Worth every penny! Like one of the reviewers I found out through my moving company about this organization that helps to secure permits. If you are like me and have a busy job and don't have any time to stand in city hall to process the permits, these guys will do it for you. Within a day I received an email confirmation and saw that the signs were up in the neighborhood. It made the move a lot easier. read more

I may be leaving this review in the wrong spot, but I didn't see a PermitPuller or MovingPermits.com listing specifically for where I used them -- West Hollywood, CA. I think I had a local person ("Wendy" is listed on the copy of my permit) who completed the paperwork at my City Hall. I also dealt mostly with Kevin Backman via email, and briefly, with David Backman. They were both prompt when it came to responding to my emails, which was very fortunate because I contacted them without a ton of advance notice. Because this was my first time ever needing a permit for a moving van, I bombarded them with questions and updates (probably driving them crazy in the process, but they never showed any frustration with me, just a willingness to help). My case was somewhat tricky, because the address of my building is not the same as I where I needed my moving van to park. If the truck had parked on the street where the actual address is, it would have been a nightmare -- tons of stairs and a very long walk! Fortunately, Kevin alleviated my fears by actually having the local person confirm that it was OK to have my signs posted on the nearby street, and he confirmed it himself, too. Plus, they sent me a revised copy of my permit with additional notes just so I was positive I would be OK. Also, I don't know if somebody else was moving on that street when I was, but there were 4 NO PARKING signs up 5 days before my move, and at least 2 of those were for me. Of course, some fools parked in my spot on the day of my move anyway, but fortunately my moving company was able to park just slightly in front of the ideal location, so it ended up being fine. I sure was tempted to have those people who didn't follow the rules towed, though! This is a great service. I've moved in Boston about 6 times in the past 15 years. I moved without permits the first two times. Nightmare. No parking for the van, had to park a block away, was late with the return, got charged $40 extra by the idiots at Budget. The next two times I pulled the permits myself. Nightmare. Waited for 45 minutes each time (once, waited twice, because I apparently had the form filled out wrong--even though I didn't). Had to deal with crabby Boston municipal employees. After the move I forgot to remove the signs afterwards and got yelled at by a cop. A terrible all-around experience. Last two times I used Permit Puller. Awesome. One call--done. Permit pullers saved my sanity! During my move to Boston, I found out the company delivering my shipping container couldn't deliver on weekends or provide a meaningful delivery or pickup window. Because of this I ended up calling the permit pullers multiple times, first changing dates for my permit then getting a new permit issued to extend the time I had. They were helpful every time I called, and kept me in the loop during the while process! There help getting me my permits allowed me to get every other part of my move put in place. Without their help I don't even know how I would have managed. Their fees were reasonable and I will use them if I ever need a permit in the future. read more

was so thrilled to find out about this service as there was NO way I was going to be able to get a permit by myself for my move to Boston from Baltimore given the required signage and flyers that have to be posted beginning 48 hours ahead of the move. Though people ignored the no parking signs (which permit puller can't control), I was glad that I had them and in the end it worked out without me having to tow anyone, but it was good to know that if I'd needed to, I could have since I had the permits. Permit Pullers helped me survive a really terrible moving situation. Not only did they get me the permits I needed quickly they also hung them up a few days before they went into effect. However, the city decided the day of my move was a great day to start construction so a lane of traffic was shifted to where my moving truck was supposed to be permitted to park. After working out how I was going to make my move happen (because my permit was useless) Permit Pullers did all the work to get my money back from the city. My permit had been pretty pricey because it took up metered spots and I really appreciate the fact that I had to do nothing except let them know what happened and the rest was taken care of. This is a _great_ serivce! I loathe having to do anything with city hall. With Permit puller, I didn't even have to read the city's web page on getting a permit (almost worth the price alone!). Once i figured out the day I was moving, Permit puller had the permit in the works (copy emailed to me the next day, with the real permit the day after in the mail). The good news is that they did pull the permit and post it on time. We paid the extra $20 for the removal of the permit. We are not native to Boston and had read several notices that it is critical for the permit to be immediately pulled down by 5 PM lest risk a $300 fine. The police regularly patrolled the street and we had witnessed ticketing so we were very concerned that if the permit remained up that we would be seriously fined. Our truck was preparing to leave and it was after 6 PM. We tried to call to inquire when the permit would be removed and it was after hours. Concerned with the prospect of a fine, we removed the permits ourselves and asked for a $20 refund. All would have been OK were it not for a truly offensive email from David, accusing us of being "disingenuous". Unprofessional customer service. read more

Great service. Arranging a move from Boston to CT from my office in NYC was a nightmare. Permit Puller made it much easier. Because of Gentle Giant's ridiculous pricing I decided to use a CT based mover. The problem was that they had no idea how to get a street permit. When I first looked into the process online I was freaked out, but then I found permit puller and everything was as easy as could be. This service was great!! So easy- just fill out a quick form online and you're all set. They do all the work- get the permit and put up the signs. It was great piece of mind knowing it was all set and the day of my move (sept 2nd) there definately would not have been parking for my moving truck without a permit. I moved to New Orleans and couldn't get there before my moving container. I found Permit Puller and contacted them to see if they could get my permit and post signs. They were very upfront with me and told me they were unsure if they could do it in the time frame I needed, but that they would see what they could do and let me know by the end of the day.
