My family and I have been using Roadrunner since the mid 90's! I honestly can say I will never use another moving company again. I started using them when I was in college at Boston University. They moved me a few times and they were so wonderful, I kept using them through the years. My parents recently used them for a large move outside of Boston and they again exceeded our expectations. Just a month ago, I had a semi complicated move from the South to Boston. It was a stressful time which Road Runner was aware of; Martin and Dave were able to get the job done without one hitch, from start to finish. Our actual mover was Gef and I was so impressed with his efficiency, punctuality and professionalism. Not one item was damaged and not a single item missing! Plus he did all the lifting with a smile! Their pricing is reasonable and worth it. I would always use Road Runner for long distance moves (and within state). These guys moved me across country about a year ago...I'm just about done absorbing the damage these guys have done to about 90% of my property. While they were timely and polite, everything else couldn't have been worse. The damage to my household belongings was incredible - as if they were catapulting the pieces onto and off the truck. In addition to this ignominy, the total cost was double what a national carrier would charge...I used them before on xcountry moves with no problems but it seems the company was sold a while back with these results. I was told by more than one source that they have my headboard at the wharehouse and it was just missed being loaded on the truck. I already paid for them to deliver it. They refuse to deliver it and no one returns my calls concerning the delivery of my headboard. Wonderful service. Moved during COVID and the two movers never took their masks off. I've moved during the pandemic before and movers from other companies would frequently touch their masks and take them off. Not from roadrunner. I had issues with other companies as well with their movers taking breaks every 10 minutes, while still charging me for the total amount of time it took them to move, despite it took longer because they prolonged it themselves. I don't think the roadrunner movers stopped once. In the past, I had to start moving boxes to try and save myself time and money. I didn't even have a chance to move my boxes because these guys were so fast. Carrying multiple boxes at the same time. They moved everything out of my apartment, went to another house where we were picking up some furniture, and then a final destination to unload. All of this took about 3 hours. So fast. Nothing damaged. I didn't need to take the clothes out of my dressers, which saved so much time both packing and unpacking. I was worried it would be too heavy, but zero problem moving the dressers. They used blankets to protect my furniture, both on the stairs moving out and in the truck itself. When we moved in, before starting the unloading, the movers asked for a tour of the home so they knew where to put our stuff. Other moving companies just dumped everything in the hallway. They also set up the bed in maybe two minutes without event being asked. They were professional, exactly on time, honest with pricing, fast, careful, and considerate of my belongings. read more

Never returned my picture frames. The movers damaged some picture frames, scratched furniture and walls while moving. The mover sent a fixer to fix some of the damages and took our picture frame to "fix it" as they said. They never returned our calls to have the picture frame returned to us. Move occurred in February and I've finally decided to leave a poor review in hopes that this will be corrected. read more

Employee was hitting on me while packing up mine and my boyfriend's stuff, did not follow instructions when arriving, packed dirty dishes from inside the sink after I asked if they wouldn't, but the worst thing is that we are now stuck in France with no way to get rid of the literal truck load of paper that was used to pack. Things like sponges were wrapped in five sheets of paper and ironically the only thing that was not protected sufficiently was the circuit board of our 3-D printer. They were hard to get in contact with, changed the date of my pick up 3 times, assured me they'd do what they referred to as a "live load" so my stuff would be expedited and promised 3-5 days. But once 3 days rolled around and I tried to reach out they screened all of my calls and texts then eventually brokered my move to some random company if it was even an actual company, because I still haven't heard from them since they picked up my stuff. There were broken items and damaged things with stains. Let's start with a well-known truth: moving sucks. When my husband and I began planning our Boston/DC move, we looked up movers on Yelp, narrowed it down to a list of three highly rated movers, and had all three come to give us an estimate on our move. Truth be told, Roadrunners wasn't the cheapest, but from the very first moment we talked to them, we had a sense that they were very organized, very honest, and very reliable. The estimator came to our house on time (unlike other movers) and provided a comprehensive (and accurate) estimate. The morning of the move, four movers showed up right on time, and within three hours, our condo was empty. They were unbelievably careful with our fragile items (mirrors, antique dresser, etc). and also just great guys- sweet, friendly, and kind. When they arrived in DC a few days later, the crew was amazing - in two hours, our apartment was unpacked. All of our stuff arrived exactly it was packed - not a single scratch, dent, or break - and the movers quickly assembled the few items that needed to be put together post-move. All of this to say, if you're planning an out of state move, Roadrunner is the way to go. They take a painful process and make it easy. read more

Worst moving company, my delivery was delayed for 2 weeks and when I received my household goods, things were damaged beyond repair, broken and missing. I also received other people property so my things might also be with other movers which I would never see again. They sent an inexperienced driver and made every excuse in the book for him, no apologies. I will not ever use this moving company again. read more

We used Roadrunner to move our office, and the whole experience was wonderful. Well, you know, as wonderful as moving an office across town can get. The owner came by, did an assessment, gave us a detailed quote that seemed very reasonable - and i got such a good, capable vibe from him. The first time i talked to him on the phone, and was mentioning the building we were moving into, he knew exactly where i was talking about and the unique challenges they might have in the alley out back. Not a problem, though - he'd take care of everything. They did it ALL. And never laughed at my myriad dumb questions and frantic calls about this or that. Day of the move, the movers came and kicked tons of butt from 8:30am till about 8:00pm that night. Admittedly, we didn't do the best job preparing but they took care of everything without a complaint and nary a question. There was nothing they couldn't do for us - and we had some weird requests for them. We actually had more stuff than they thought, so they brought in an extra truck [in addition to the 2 we had planned for], and a few extra guys towards the end of the day. I was a little scared about the end bill....but, miraculously and to Roadrunners credit, our final bill was LESS than the quote. Just an absolutely stellar experience - and just a bunch of nice guys running the company, and doing the moving. These guys are amazing. They're extremely careful but will clear out your packed belongings in the blink of an eye. We had a nightmare move into a new home and the closing times kept changing. We had to stretch the move from 1 day to 3 days, and they were awesome about it accommodating us the whole way, including storing our stuff overnight. I thought overnight storage would cost a fortune but they did it for $150, not bad for a last minute moving expense. After this, I'm never moving again, but if I did, I'll use Roadrunner again in a heartbeat. They were the best part of the experience. read more

To be honest it was a friend that did all the research on different movers within the area. It was her first move that required hiring movers as well as mine. She had nothing but great reviews about them and was charged less than what was quoted--but only because there was a 3rd person in "training" that was not being charged. For my personal experience with Roadrunner, it was great. Before the move, Roadrunner quoted half of what Gentle Giants quoted. Second, Roadrunner followed up on any calls/emails I had. They confirmed my move and called when they were running late (even though they told me between the hours of 8-9 which was still on time). There was one difficult piece of furniture that had to be moved up a small flight of stairs in the hallway. I did not measure it beforehand and didn't realize it would not fit through--my mistake. The 2 movers tried about 3-4 different strategies on moving it up the stairs then had told me that it may have to be hoised up via a deck on the 2nd floor--75 bucks extra at least. However, they figured a way to dismantle some pieces of the furniture (took off the front faces) and were successfully able to bring it up without a scratch. I'd definitely recommend these movers if it is your first move. They were honest, communicated everything to me and were charging me exactly what I was quoted (on the low side of the quote even). read more

Roadrunner is by far the BEST moving company I've ever moved with. Dave is amazing- he'll comes to your place, give you an accurate and REASONABLE estimate in less than 20 minutes (w/ low involvement from you) AND will try to throw in perks just cuz he's so cool. The other moving companies I spoke to required me to take my own inventory, etc. Who has the time for that shit!? Dave did an instant inventory just by looking around!! I was unsure of my exact move date and address and they worked with me on scheduling just days before the actual move! Not only that, but he was easy to get a hold of, and beyond friendly. I had the movers pack me up and although they were short one guy, they were completely thorough and overly careful. They asked questions about what went in what box, and wrapped everything to a T. Not only that, but they barely took one break in 6 hours. Side note: If you have furniture built from Ikea, let them know UPFRONT! Ikea furniture is shit and falls apart during a move. My dresser broke, but I was fully reimbursed for it. In all honesty, it was my fault for not warning them ahead of time that it was made of flimsy materials. Regardless, they were fully apologetic and courteous about it. Word of advice: don't try to move with Ikea furniture. Just chuck it and buy new Ikea furniture. There's a reason it's so cheap...it's because it's disposable! Moving into my new NY apt. (from Boston) was a breeze (they even held my stuff in storage for 3 days with no extra cost)! Roadrunner helped me get all the proper documents and worked with my building Super on ensuring I had mover's insurance. The move could not have gone more smoothly. EVERYTHING was accounted for- they didn't lose anything! Not only that, but they'll help you move the furniture around if it's too heavy for you! Worth every penny! I've moved a lot and I finally decided that it was time to hire movers. Roadrunner was recommended by my sister-in-law and they did not disappoint. From the initial phone call, they were professional and direct. All expectations were clearly laid out, including a quote, hours, and what to do beforehand to make things smooth. It was $160/hr (including transportation time) with no extra hidden costs. What I appreciated most was even after investing in that conversation, they told me to call back if I decided to go with them, after shopping around. The 3 man team, led by John, arrived on time and we began right away. These men were truly amazing with their speed and dexterity. It was so hard to just stand around and watch them, but honestly, we were exhausted from just the watching. After coming in 2 hours under the quote, the crew gave me options of setting up certain rooms or assembling furniture. Roadrunner surpassed my expectations; I wish I could give them 10 stars. My fiance and I moved to Brighton from Texas via an ABF ReloCube (pod). Roadrunner met us at the terminal, emptied our ReloCube, hauled everything to Brighton and into our 6th floor apartment. We never came into contact with an unpleasant person during the planning of the move and their prices were pretty reasonable. The movers were really patient and quick; they even offered to come and pick up our boxes after we finished unpacking. They don't always answer the phone; however they are quick to return calls! Words cannot express how amazing my move went from Brookline to Boston. It was my first time moving and it exceeded my expectations. From the first call, their sales person was so helpful in providing information and suggestions in assuring me their company is the best one to work with and that it will be well worth the price. I cannot believe how easy it was to book with them. Other companies were reachable via email and they had questionnaires to fill out and it was so impersonal! As for the day of the move, it was quick and painless. Matt, BJ and Joe were professional, efficient, patient, careful, nice and hardworking. They told me that road runners is a great company to work for and you can see that in their work ethics, personality and customer relations. They even impressed all of my friends and roommates that they came into contact with! I was even able to make it to brunch on time with friends from out of town. Thought I would have to miss it because of the morning move. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! Please, look at review dates! 2021 is ALL NEGATIVE!! THEY HAVE 2 YELPS! DO N OU T BE FOOLED! DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!!! This company was contracted by a broker so we had no idea what we were in for! They showed up at the house and said they couldn't move us for the broker fee! They doubled the cost $20,000!!! Broker bowed out!! What were we to do? House was sold and we had to move! We moved across country during "slow season" and it took this company 15 WEEKS to get us 95% of our belongings. The other 5%? Gone forever!! Ladders, art work, wardrobe box and much more, gone! The lies were never ending! "Your items have been loaded." Then 2 weeks later, "I dont have a trucker for that load." 4 times we heard this!!! 3 out of 4 bookcases were literally torn apart! An antique rocker has no rockers, most boxes looked like they had been "ROLLED" across pavement! So much broken and damaged! Items wrapped in blankets at the departure were without blankets upon arrival dirty and broken!! I've never been more disgusted in a business before!! This was a great experience for me. The initial visit from Dave was excellent. He was a nice guy and very open and honest with all of the charges for the move, as well as flexible with move in and out dates and times. The movers delivered my items on time, nothing broken. The movers were fast and also very nice personable guys. My house was not even ready, yet they unloaded everything into my garage, then came back the next day to move my items from my garage into my house, making a stressful situation much more manageable. I recently relocated from Atlanta, GA to Boston. I was really nervous about using movers because I had read a lot of horror stories about long distance moves online. After reading the amazing reviews Roadrunner got on Yelp, I decided to use them. Everything went great! My stuff arrived in Boston in perfect condition two days after it was picked up in Atlanta (most other moving companies told me my stuff would arrive in 2-14 days). The crew that came to get my stuff was very professional, it took them just over an hour to load all of my stuff onto their truck and even less time to unload it! Our belongings were picked up st our house on 6/26. Today, 7/5, we are still waiting and are now being told they are enroute and could be up to 6 days. Refuse to give me any discount due to their misquote but informed me the person who gave me that quote was suspended (a violation of her rights) and like that is my problem! Won't unload the truck when it arrives unless paid in full after tripling the cost over my quote!! They are being reported all the way to the federal level! They are scammers of the worst degree. This was a phenomenal experience, the whole way through. Great guys, professional, friendly, and fast as heck. Pre-Move In soliciting bids for my move, RRMS was the only company who routinely answered my phonecall - I always got a live person, who was very courteous, whereas the other companies I was getting bids from rarely if ever picked up on the first call, and we engaged in constant email volleys. While I understand these are small companies and are constantly on the road, I got increasingly anxious as the date approached and I had barely any contact to speak of, so having someone who I knew would be there put me at ease. Moving Day They showed up not with 3 guys, as we had agreed, but with 4, and only charged me an extra 20 bucks for the job. Sweet! The guys moved my entire apartment into a large truck in less than an hour, we met at my new place and they unpacked in less than an hour. With standard travel time included the whole move was just about where I had expected price wise, and it was smooth as glass. Super friendly, very professional. Waited for hours for my stuff on thursday, after they stored it for 4 months.. movers brought three pieces that were not mine yet ticketed with my number which makes me worry if my stuff went to somene else!!! We are a large store with many boxes so we wont know til we empty everything- and several of my belongings were broken and not usable -.. shelves, cabinet, curio... all the screws and pins were missing from drawers and 1 week later Ive gotten No response to 3 emails I sent. I recommend anyone considering Roadrunner think twice. While the office staff is nice if a little slow to return calls, the packing/moving team was a disaster. We have moved 7 times in the last ten years for work, including a move to Asia) and never, ever has our stuff been packed this poorly. Lots of minor damage and complete unresponsiveness. The Worst part first: Only one person showed up with our truck, the driver. He said the people he contracted for here in our new city weren't going to show. I had to help unload. I did MOST of the work because the driver was lazy. We have a three story townhouse. (Since we had to get a permit to park the truck and that took days to secure, there was no other option but for me to work.) That meant we could not unpack and inspect for damage. The driver said we had to report all damage before he left. I know from experience that is crap. I was offered a .4% discount for unloading myself. That tells you the quality of the day labor they would have hired. They SAY they use rented trucks rather than their own trucks and day labor from moving companies in destination cities but a) it doesn't save nearly enough to go with the pain and b) it doesn't work. Packing was terrible: Some of the packers just don't seem to understand what their job is. It is not "stack stuff in boxes." It is "wrap things carefully, place them carefully in boxes, and try to make sure heavy things like fireboxes and dictionaries are placed on top of art work" (this really happened when Roadrunner moved us. Taping pieces of a stainless steel lamp together == tape glue all over the lamp and an hour cleaning it. A drag except they also did this to steel legs of chairs, to wooden chairs. Noone asked us which were the high value items. We had to stop them from packing some antique chairs and take them through the house. Post move: Two inquiries about damages. No response. We moved in August. They are awful. read more

We just used Roadrunner for our move from Boston to NYC, and they are absolutely fantastic. Best experience I have had with a moving company to date. I have a lot to say about them, but for those of you who just want the quick answer, here's my 2 part review. The short review: From the first time I spoke with Dave, who runs the show, to and through payment, they made the process as easy and hassle free as moving can ever be. Friendly, honest, communicative, transparent, and simply good people (which is hard to find in the moving company world). Overall, I recommend them for your next move 100%, without question. And we will definitely be calling them for our next move. The longer story: Getting An Estimate We had originally planned on doing the move ourselves, but about a week and a half out, we realized that we were being foolish and there was no way we could swing it alone. I called Dave I believe on a Wednesday or Thursday morning (we were moving the following Friday), and he gave me an over the phone quote, but said he'd be able to do a more accurate assessment after taking a look, which he promptly said he could do the following morning. Dave spent about 20 minutes at our place-- during which he was approachable, friendly, and genuinely interested in our move and what we would be doing in NYC. He actually agreed that we had less furniture/fewer items than he expected, and gave me a lower price than his initial quote-- which he said was binding and the company would not exceed. Huge plus. He also told me that the same crew that picked up my stuff would be the crew that delivered it. In an industry not known for transparency and communication, it was a great start. Knowing that our stuff wouldn't be switched from truck to truck, crew to crew, definitely gave us peace of mind. Pick Up In Boston Fast-forward to moving day. The crew-- Bob, Joe, and one other guy who unfortunately I am forgetting his name (Mike, I think?)-- showed up on time, right on schedule. Just like Dave, the guys were incredibly friendly and seemed like genuinely good guys, and Bob in particular shared many tales from his time as a mover and more. Funny guy, and made the whole process nicer. They were extremely efficient and quick, but simultaneously very careful with all of our furniture and delicate items. They knew exactly what they were doing and were extremely professional.We packed most of our stuff ourselves, and relied on RR to wrap up all the furniture and secure it, as well as load up all of our boxes. They completed the whole process in just about 1.5 hours. The good experience continues. Delivery In New York The next day (Saturday), Bob and Joe arrived as promised just about on-time at our new place in Manhattan. Unfortunately, there isn't a loading dock at the new place, and they had to park the truck on a side street-- which meant carrying everything down a parking ramp, through a hallway, and into the freight elevator and finally up to our place. Even though there were only 2 of them at the drop off, Bob and Joe worked furiously, but again very carefully. They were able to navigate a very hectic street area in Manhattan (Financial District), and unload all of our belongings in just about 2 hours. Nothing broken, nothing damaged. And again, just like with the pick up, they were friendly, polite, professional, and funny throughout the process. Payment I have used moving companies before that are cash only, and that make you pay up front before they even unload your stuff at the new place. Shady. Not the case with Roadrunner. Only after every item was unloaded, and I was given the chance to check and ensure nothing was damaged (particularly electronics), then did we get around to payment. Bob took me through, line by line, exactly what I was being charged for, why, and how much. Very clear and simple process. We moved a 1BR for under $2000, which I consider to be a great deal. In Conclusion As I said in my 'short review', I cannot recommend these guys highly enough. I'm genuinely shocked at the one or two poor reviews here, because I honestly can't imagine a bad experience with this crew of people, and Dave, after working with them on this move. If nothing else, when considering a move, you owe it to yourself to talk to Dave and have him give you an estimate, and then trust your gut after meeting him. My guess is, like me, once you meet him, you'll know this is the right company for the job. read more

These guys are great! I've used them to move twice, and boy do these guys HUSTLE! You are paying by the hour, so you'd think they'd dawdle (which most moving companies do), but these guys are super fast! Granted I didn't have a ton of stuff (1 BR apartment), but the whole move only took a few hours.
