Was looking forward to visiting this place and ended up very disappointed. First - very friendly and polite staff but that is about the only positive. Food on the other hand is pretty disgusting. Whoever made it - doesn't know real ukrainian cuisine. What I got: Golubtzi with rice and meat: more rice and barely a "dusting" of meat or maybe it was meat flavored bread. I bought 4, barely was able to finish 2 and the other 2 were thtown out. Pirozhky: two with cabbage and teo with potatoes and meat. Dough for pirozhky was more of a desert dough, not the right kind but ok, it wasn't bad. The ones with cabbage were acceptable a little too watery, nothing spectacular though. Th ones with meat and potatoes, again you could hardly guess there was meat, only by the fact that the lottle brown pecs were in the potatoes one can assume that was meat, yikes! Potatoes though i had to question myself whether these were real potatoes, powdered potatoes or even potatoes at all :/ absolutely gross! Ended up throwing it out. Poppyseed roll: very dry with thin layer of poppy seeds. Not impressed Herring under the vegetables (Seledka pod shuboy): was the worst i have ever had and yet yhe best out of all the food i bought. Watery, herring was waaay too salty. Seems that peas and herring weren't properly drained. I wanted to love this place, dispite the negative reviews i gave it a chance, we drove about 30 min out of our way to check it out. The only positive experience were the staff. Very sweet, helpful and polite. They got the two stars. Food gets no star at all.

First off, let me just say that I really really wanted this place to be good. I went in at about 1 p.m. and was absolutely starving. Normally any time I spend $20 in a food joint I leave feeling full and satisfied. Today was not the case. From the microwaved food, to the tiny portion/huge price to charging me 2 dollars for an iced tea that clearly says 1.29$ right on the can. I can see how this place stays open with how much they charge, but I just didn't find the quality matched the price. I unfortunately won't return, because I already know what to expect if I do.

Yes, this was in the cabbage roll! Disgusting!

Good store! Perogies are really tasty, they make it themselves! Really tastes like home made. Not chip, I should mention though.

I have tried their Thai Curry Salad as well as their Maple Farm Bowl. Both were satisfying, but the new Maple Farm Bowl is my fav. It comes with a choice of Luisa's chicken or cilantro-lime tofu. I picked the tofu this time since I have tried their chicken before and the tofu was tasty, not too soft or too firm. The Maple Farm Bowl also has curry cauliflower, roasted sweet potato, feta, brown rice, mixed greens, crunchy chickpeas and maple chipotle dressing. I like to order my dressing on the side typically, so that I can control how much I want. The Maple Farm Bowl was pretty delicious and I wouldn't change anything about it except that I feel like the crunchy chickpeas don't really go with the rest of the Bowl. I think if they weren't crunchy then they would, but the crunchy texture just seemed out of place to me when I was eating it. Maybe others would like that though. I've never sat down to eat at Mad Radish, but the ambiance seemed nice enough and clean. The service has been good the times that I have picked up with my order ready to go. I hope that the Maple Farm Bowl stays on the menu and isn't a limited time only dish!

The Short Version: Small casual vegetarian restaurant…read moreinside an International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple. Very affordable and food tasted good. The Long Version: I feel like many large urban cities have a restaurant called Govinda's that is inside an International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple (these were called Hare Krishna temples when I was growing up). This one is in Ottawa. I've been to the one in Toronto. And I know there's one in Montreal, although I've never been there. All these restaurants are of the same concept. They serve vegetarian food, it's usually a buffet, and the prices are very affordable. At this Govinda's the all you can eat buffet is $14 or $12 if you're a student (need to show student card) or a senior (65 or over, I'm assuming if you look young for your age they might ask for ID, lol). The takeout price is $10 and you get a tray with a little bit of everything. I got the take out tray. The takeout tray contained white basmati rice, pasta salad, green salad, daal, a kidney bean curry, some stewed cabbage, and a piece of banana bread. It was quite a lot of food for just $10. And what I really liked about it is that the curries were not oily at all. I find a lot of curries way too oily but these ones were great. The lentil curry (daal) and the bean curry were very flavourful. The stewed cabbage was good too. The green salad had romaine lettuce, cucumbers, and tiny pieces of bell pepper. It came with a creamy salad dressing. A bit too much salad dressing for my liking, but it wasn't too soggy and the dressing wasn't too oily. The pasta salad had some tofu crumble in it. It was okay but had a strange medicinal taste to it. The best part was the banana bread. It was a little crunchy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. Very delicious and not greasy at all. The dining room is small and feels like you're at a friend's house in the basement. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Some people are hesitant to go to these restaurants as they think those belonging to the temple may try to "convert" them. This has never happened to me neither in Ottawa or in Toronto. Be advised that you must remove your shoes and leave them in the boot trays in the foyer before entering the restaurant or the rest of the temple. So don't wear your Louboutins or Jimmy Choos, LOL. And make sure you wear matching socks with no holes in them. Haha. This location is on a residential street and in the University of Ottawa area. All other customers during my visit were students. I feel this place is a hidden gem. It serves healthy, delicious and inexpensive vegetarian food, so I'm a huge fan. Street parking only. Review #52 (2026)

This is hearty food with plenty of lentils, pasta, rice, chickpea salad and delicious curries like their paneer curry. There was also some delicious banana bread on the side for dessert. I believe it used to be buffet (get your own) style but now she portions things out for you. You will be full for the entire day for $15.

I guess itsya popular time to eat! 3 weeks was worth the wait, as the anticipation of what we were about to enjoy grew stronger. Bread to start, with whipped butter. Hot from the oven. Soft, pillows of carb goodness, with a touch of salt. We started with the TOMATOES WITH FIOR DI LATTE AND RICOTTA STUFFED ZUCCHINI BLOSSOMS which was devine. My main was the ROASTED RAINBOW TROUT WITH BOILED POTATOES, PASTIS HOLLANDAISE AND SEA ASPARAGUS and hers was SWEET CORN AGNOLOTTI WITH BUTTER, PECORINO AND JALAPEÑO. Both dishes were faultless. We finished with Eton Mess with meringue, whipped cream and stewed rhubarb for dessert. It looks like a LOT, but the meringue is mostly air, so we tackled it with ease. And, it wasn't as sweet as expected. Americano to cleanse the palate. Fortunately, we found a parking spot right around the corner, so our full bellies didn't have to go too far.
