Was looking forward to visiting this place and ended up very disappointed. First - very friendly and polite staff but that is about the only positive. Food on the other hand is pretty disgusting. Whoever made it - doesn't know real ukrainian cuisine. What I got: Golubtzi with rice and meat: more rice and barely a "dusting" of meat or maybe it was meat flavored bread. I bought 4, barely was able to finish 2 and the other 2 were thtown out. Pirozhky: two with cabbage and teo with potatoes and meat. Dough for pirozhky was more of a desert dough, not the right kind but ok, it wasn't bad. The ones with cabbage were acceptable a little too watery, nothing spectacular though. Th ones with meat and potatoes, again you could hardly guess there was meat, only by the fact that the lottle brown pecs were in the potatoes one can assume that was meat, yikes! Potatoes though i had to question myself whether these were real potatoes, powdered potatoes or even potatoes at all :/ absolutely gross! Ended up throwing it out. Poppyseed roll: very dry with thin layer of poppy seeds. Not impressed Herring under the vegetables (Seledka pod shuboy): was the worst i have ever had and yet yhe best out of all the food i bought. Watery, herring was waaay too salty. Seems that peas and herring weren't properly drained. I wanted to love this place, dispite the negative reviews i gave it a chance, we drove about 30 min out of our way to check it out. The only positive experience were the staff. Very sweet, helpful and polite. They got the two stars. Food gets no star at all.

First off, let me just say that I really really wanted this place to be good. I went in at about 1 p.m. and was absolutely starving. Normally any time I spend $20 in a food joint I leave feeling full and satisfied. Today was not the case. From the microwaved food, to the tiny portion/huge price to charging me 2 dollars for an iced tea that clearly says 1.29$ right on the can. I can see how this place stays open with how much they charge, but I just didn't find the quality matched the price. I unfortunately won't return, because I already know what to expect if I do.

Yes, this was in the cabbage roll! Disgusting!

Good store! Perogies are really tasty, they make it themselves! Really tastes like home made. Not chip, I should mention though.

The Buffalo Mac & Cheese was the star of the meal, with its super generous portion, creamy sauce, pasta cooked to perfection, and crispy tofu on top. My grilled cheese was also delicious, although the tomato soup was scalding hot so I couldn't fully appreciate it after burning my taste buds with the first sip. My friend got the chipotle burger and fries, and was very pleased with her choice, in flavor, portion, and temperature. I was bummed that I didn't have room for dessert. The skillet cookie sounded worth it. Maybe next time!

That they had French onion soup was another plus. We arrived around 6:00 p.m. on a Tuesday and were shown to a table. We naturally ordered a bowl each of the soup, but I think we could have shared that and the Caesar salad (another dish I often order at vegan restaurants). I've had vegan onion soups I've liked better, but this was pretty good. For my entree, I ordered the risotto with king oyster mushroom "scallops," while my boyfriend got the gnocchi. The risotto was perfectly cooked, but I would have liked more mushroom scallops. The gnocchi was also pretty good, but not my favorite. If your French is rusty, fear not. The servers do speak English, and they do offer English menus (even if the website is primarily in French). If you're in Ottawa, it's worth a trip across the river.

I got to chose one protein and a base. I went with the smoked tofu, and quinoa. Both were awesome. The quinoa was cooked soooooooooooo well. The large threw be back about 17 bucks, but it was so very worth it. I love that everything on their menu is super clean, and veg/vegan. Word on the street is that their shiitake teriyaki is amazing, so I want to go back and try that, as well as their "chicken wings."

I got myself the Aristotle Bowl, the vinegrette alone made the bowl, but the ingredients were fresh, crispy and yummy. You have your choice of protein so you're not stuck with same old tofu, and option for base (quinoa, rice, noodles...). They do offer the "mini" versions of the bowls which I actually appreciate as I usually find these type of bowls are huge and I end up wasting. The portion was just perfect... Man, I normally don't even like coleslaw. I asked my husband if he wanted it but tried it first and I was like "NVM!" LOL. The slaw was garlicky. It was so bomb. The fish was haddock. At first I thought it was cat fish but haddock is even better. My husband said he enjoyed his chicken sandwich. The fries are fresh cut. Had some great flavor and loved how thin and crispy they are. Service was quick to order and the food came out hot and fast!!! It was a little bit cold in the restaurant so I can see the place being a little bit more popular in the summer. Overall, definitely coming back to visit next time we are here!!!

Right at the corner that I frequented when I was a couple decades younger. I haven't been back to the Wellington/Mechanicsville neighborhood, tailing the Hintonburg neighborhood for many years. "Little Mac's". Is. THE. BEST. TASTIEST, fuckin' god DAMN, "THAT A TASTY BURGER"...in the city of Ottawa. ..hidden off the street on a corne, to make sure it stays a gem, proper diamond in the rough. I'll say it again, because I legitimately said it twice out loud with a mouth full of the best burger in this city. "DAMN! That's a TASTY FUCKIN' BURGER!" Eating here was fine. It's a small joint. Very reminiscent of proper burger joints from times in this city, past. This is by far, the best damn burger in this city, hands down. I legit mentioned to Moe, it was the best burger I've had, in well over a year. Hand made patties, proper. in house, smoked bacon, with a proper smoke ring on the edge. ...ok, ok, but ITS A GEM OF A PLACE. I havent seen so much care in proper burger preparation...just for, too DAMN LONG. Thank you "Little Mac's". And I absolutely adore your dedication to amazing, five star, Michelin Star, burger. At home. Thank you greatl, Moe. You made mine and my sons day. We needed those incredible burgers, with smoked bacon, and real cheese. I have only made two yelp reviews in the past. One, was to complain, one was for a former Turkish bodega, that couldn't weather the Covid of business, and you, Moe. You being the face and conversation, that also grilled those INCREDIBLE BURGERS! Hands down. Your burgers are 11/10, for this sleepy city. And I imagine they can't be replicated by ways of franchise. There are few that take the pride that you do, Moe, in offering the mint burger that you do. I should be back within two weeks, brother. I absolutely appreciate your care and grill mastery. Absolutely, fuckin', LOVELY. ...I can go on, but, it'd be better to learn from experience, by the uninitiated. I lived the dream today. To the dreamers. The dream is alive, offered up dinner in the cabane style. THE BEST BURGER IN OTTAWA. Proper. I will legit fight someone that says differently. But, they may just have a dented pallet. if the beef isn't seasoned properly, the whole burger is bland. Moe, he ABSOLUTELY UNDERSTANDS

So imagine McDonald's and Burger King got together had a baby and that baby grew up and became a vegan. That baby is Odd Burger. They serve burgers, nuggets, breakfast sandwiches, fries, onion rings, tater tots, poutine and milkshakes, and everything is vegan. The taste is very much fast food. The service and ambiance is also fast food style. My husband and I each got a BacUn Famous Melt Combo. In-store the price is $15.48, but it was $17.03 BOGO (buy one get one free) on UberEats, so I ordered it on the app for pick-up. The combo comes with fries. You can upgrade to tater tots, onion rings, poutine or lots of other options. I love that for your drink you can get a juice, coffee or tea for no extra charge. Most places only offer soft drinks and anything else is extra. You can upgrade to a milkshake for more money. We just got fries and orange juice. For our burger we had the choice of their regular smash patty or chickpea patty. We chose the former. The smash burger is made of wheat and soy protein, flax seeds, onions and nutritional yeast. The BacUn is made of oats, chickpeas and wheat gluten. It comes with vegan cheese, lettuce, onions, pickles and their special sauce (which tastes a bit like McDonald's Big Mac sauce). The burger comes with a sesame seed bun, but the sesame seeds are only on the top bun, so I gave my husband my top bun and he gave me his bottom bun, so it worked out for me and I didn't have to eat it bunless, lol. The burger itself was ok. The taste was very fast food-like. It didn't taste like meat but I appreciated it for what it was. I want to try the chickpea patty next time. The fries were thick and battered. They came piping hot and were crispy on the outside. The portion was nice and big. I enjoyed the fries. The orange juice was just regular orange juice, but I liked that I wasn't limited to choosing a soft drink. I eat meat, but I'm an equal opportunity eater, lol, so I wanted to try Odd Burger. I think it's a great option for vegans and vegetarians who miss eating at fast food burgers chains. For meat eaters I don't really see much advantage over regular fast food burgers chains. I mean it's not any healthier in terms of fat and sodium content. I suppose it might be better for the environment (?) I didn't find the taste that "wow" or anything. Maybe I'll like the chickpea patty better. There's not too much seating at this location. Just 4 tables for 2 which can be combined to make 2 tables for 4. Service was courteous and efficient. I do like that it's a Canadian chain. It even started off in my home province, Ontario! Street parking only. Review #131 (2025)
