My favorite new restaurant that I have visited in El Paso. Food was delicious, they have a variety of tequila and mezcal drinks. Best part is that you can order the meat to go by pound!

I loved "Perol Artisanal Carnitas" and visited it because it was highly recommended. When I arrived, I immediately noticed the modern and beautifully decorated restaurant. I experienced outstanding customer service; we only waited five minutes to be seated during lunchtime on a Sunday. The couple of cocktails we had were amazing. Their menu is affordable, but I loved how delicious all the food was. Their servings are large, specifically the Chamorro Adobado. Perol Artisanal Carnitas offers authentic Mexican Food. I highly recommend it. My only complaint is that the food was a bit cold. Apparently, their heat lamp was off, and our food waited for about 5 minutes to be served, but they will fix it.

Their chicharrones are the bomb. The red salsa goes very well with this. David our waiter was very good and very attentive. The background music is not Spanish but still good. The mole and enchiladas are good as well

Went to celebrate my sisters Birthday recently. Overall, we were super impressed with the food and their salsas. I would go back for the food for sure. Service was alright. It felt like we were annoying the server whenever we would ask for napkins, a to-go box, or extra plates for the cake we cut. I hope service gets better cause no one wants to feel like we are bothering the server. The place was not full by the way, this was at lunch time.

Craving Carnitas or crispy Chicharron? Check out Perol, the new go-to spot for delicious and traditional pork dishes. Owned by the family behind Don Carbon, they really know how to cook meats. I'm a fan of their other restaurant, Amar, and Perol was...just ok. Now, let's talk about the pricing. It's on the higher side considering the quality you get, especially with so many other amazing, affordable options nearby. Don't get me wrong, though. The presentation and quality of the food at Perol are top-notch. However, $22 for four strips of fried Chicharron, a bit of guacamole, and 6 handmade tortillas on the side is a bit much. And that's just the appetizer! ‍ On the positive side, they serve pork rinds as chips and salsa, and their salsas are delicious. They're well-seasoned and not too spicy. I tried their Carnitas plate, which included three meaty pieces, bone-in rice, and beans for $15. While the meat looked good and had a nice flavor, it wasn't as tender as I expected. For the price, especially for pork, the Carnitas should be melt-in-your-mouth tender. The Rajas con Queso appetizer ($10) was extremely good, and my friend loved their Al Pastor tacos plate ($12). The tacos were generously stuffed and flavorful. The different handmade tortillas were visually appealing, but I didn't notice much difference in taste between the regular and spinach/beet-infused ones, especially when paired with bold-flavored items like the Rajas or Al Pastor meat. It felt a bit gimmicky. The drinks are a bit pricey, especially the Aqua Frescas. I had the lemonade, which was refreshing, but considering the portion size and no refills, $4.50 is a bit steep. Now, let's talk desserts! The Pastel De Nuez Con Bieve De Chongos ($9) was ridiculously amazing, with a homemade caramel-flavored ice cream and a soft, flavorful pecan bundt cake. It was the perfect ending to the meal. I also enjoyed their pumpkin atole ($6) a lot. It had a delicate pumpkin flavor and a creamy texture. One thing that made me question the experience was the overall feeling of the restaurant. I couldn't tell if it was a quick-service place or a higher-end establishment. The service inside was hit or miss. While the staff was friendly, they sometimes forgot about us for extended periods and asked the same questions multiple times. We were even asked about our drinks four times, which we had already ordered. The kitchen staff seemed preoccupied with the drive-thru orders, and at one point, I heard someone in the back shouting "cállate" in Spanish, which was a bit off-putting. The service staff spent a lot of time hanging out at the bar, and despite there not being many customers. I'm not sure if the booth seating hid us from their view, but it took a long time to get their attention. However, when they did come, they were super nice and attentive and they spoke perfect English and Spanish, which made me comfortable asking questions about the menu. I hope the service improves and matches the pricing and overall atmosphere. Because if I can go to Victoria's in Canutillo and get their amazing Carnitas on Tuesdays for $1.50 and wait just as long for the food and service, I'd prefer going there. I'm still interested in trying more of Perol's menu, and I think it could be a great place for special occasions, given the pricing. However, the atmosphere doesn't quite match up. So hopefully, there will be some changes because I really like Amar, and they've shown they can deliver a higher-price experience with the right ambiance and service. Check out Perol for yourself and make your own decision. -TODOELPASO 6398 Doniphan Dr, El Paso, TX 79932

Stopped by for carnitas and was very happy. Such a wonderful restaurant. Very nice inside decor and great service. The food was delicious! I eat a lot of carnitas and this was very good. The salsas served on the side with the tacos were amazing. A red salsa and an orange salsa; both packed with unique flavor and the perfect spice. I also had one of their homemade juices (green juice) and it was very tasty and fresh. Highly recommend this spot if in El Paso and looking for quality food and nice ambiance. The rest of the menu sounded amazing too.

Honestly, I thought it was just a drinking spot, so I never bothered to step inside. Big mistake. I first tried their beer at the Greek Festival (the Greek brew was so good!) and knew I had to give them another shot. When I finally came in, I was pleasantly surprised. Even with The Shack Wings & Brews across the street, Aurellia stands out because they actually brew their own beers -- and they're fantastic. I don't drink much, but I tried a light one on the manager's recommendation and ended up sharing it with my friend. Smooth, refreshing, and plenty of variety on tap. For food, I went with the Bavarian Forest Burger -- wildberry bacon jam, arugula, Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms, beer mustard, all stacked on a toasted potato bun. I wish added hickory bacon and an egg, and loved the options. The burger came out cooked medium (they only do one level of doneness), but it was juicy, flavorful, and held together perfectly with the bun. My friend isn't a fan of pink, so she struggled a bit with her cheeseburger, but honestly, mine was one of the best burgers I've had in El Paso. Filling, rich, and worth every bite. The service really stood out. Everyone -- from the manager to the staff -- pitched in, helping each other out, cleaning tables, and jumping in when needed. It's a smaller space, and it can get busy and loud, but they kept everything running smoothly. I loved that team atmosphere. Bonus: They even had a lunch special with a discount if you pair a house beer with your meal -- a nice surprise. The outdoor patio has both shaded and sunny spots, which is perfect for El Paso weather. My only real complaint? Parking can be a bit tricky. All in all, Aurellia's is a true local gem. I regret not discovering it sooner, but now I can't wait to come back -- next time with my husband. Don't sleep on this place. If you're looking for great food, house-brewed beer, and a warm local vibe, this is it. 1620 N Resler Dr, El Paso, TX 79911

This place was great! My husband tried a few beers, mostly hazy IPAs while I had their ACE ciders (mango and guava). I hadn't tried having ciders with any chili rim but it was sooo yummy. I love everything mango, so naturally I tried that cider first. It was good, but the guava one was so much better! They had a few tvs, and none were showing the game. But the bartenders were really nice and put the game for us in one screen. If you watched this game, you know it was a nail biter, so naturally they started showing it on a few more screens. The outdoor seating area was full the entire time, with people coming in and out, but it never got too packed. We had originally sat towards the back in a table, but as people left the bar, and the game for more intense, we moved to the bar. The drinks kept coming, including a celebratory shot for the Warriors win! I know we will come back here next time we are in town. The music varied, but overall I enjoyed it. The bathrooms were clean and the manager also seemed to care about the clients. There was one guy that definitely had too much to drink, ended up peeing his pants and falling on his way to the women's restroom by mistake. Both a bartender and manager went over to make sure he was good right away. I did not catch the girls' names, but both bartenders that day were really nice. I've always wanted bold red hair, and decided to spark a conversation with one of the bartenders that had intense red hair. If you ever see this, just know I went for it! Not as bold as you, but maybe one day!

I had first heard about them through a menu tasting on the Eastside, but after visiting multiple locations, the Westside is where I've spent the most time--and where this experience really stood out. You can tell they've put a lot of effort into rebuilding after taking over the former Alamo locations. But what really surprised me was the food quality. This is not typical movie theater food. The pizza dough is made fresh daily, sauces are scratch-made, and the menu feels like an actual restaurant, not just concessions. Even their beers are award-winning, and it's clear they care about quality and consistency. I ended up hosting my son's birthday here for about 14 people, and honestly, it was one of the easiest group outings I've done. We ordered everything from our seats, the kids shared refillable popcorn, and everyone had great food the entire time while watching the movie. No lines, no waiting, no juggling trays, and no missing parts of the film. They also have a private room we used for cake, plus games like foosball, which made it really easy to manage a group. Pricing was another surprise. Tickets here were actually cheaper than comparable theaters, even though it may not look like it at first because fees are shown upfront. When I compared the full experience--tickets plus food--it ended up being a better overall value than going somewhere else and just buying snacks. They also honored old Alamo gift cards, which was a really nice touch. As for the 18% service charge, after seeing how hard the servers work, it makes sense. They are constantly moving up and down stairs in a dark theater delivering food so you don't have to leave your seat. That level of service is part of the experience. Overall, between the food quality, service, and convenience, this has easily become one of my go-to spots. Also want to recognize Melissa, the GM, and her team. They create a really welcoming environment, and it shows.

We started with hot and sour soup. Delicious! And given that 2 of the 4 of us have been fighting bronchitis, it opened up our sinuses! My "make it or break it" staple is pork fried rice, and their version is different but wonderful. So many places the rice is oily and saturated with soy sauce. Not here. Very simple, plentiful chunks of pork, egg and rice with scallions. Flavored perfectly and a generous portion. The star of the meal was the honey walnut prawns. They were giant prawns, served with rice and a bit of steamed broccoli. They will always be a dish on future visits! We got the special of salt and pepper fish, and it was delicious. I was expecting a whole fish but the dish was bite sized fillets, perfectly fried and depending if you ate the peppers, a nice zing of flavor. We also had beef with string beans and it was quite good. I love crispy green beans and these were perfectly done. Next time it's noodles and buns, to explore!
