Cool wine shop in west midtown right in between burger shack and lulu lemon. Wine prices vary from affordable to up there (not affordable for me - cheers to you if you're getting that top shelf) there's a great variety of selection, it has your whites to reds and all price ranges. There was a wine tasting happening while my partner and I were browsing and breads were being brought out. The staff was knowledgeable and pretty helpful. If you're a wine connoisseur or just enjoy a good wine, and in the area it's worth dropping by to pick up something.

I had a great time at the wine tasting. The wine shop is very appealing to the eye! It's also in a great location called the Interlock. They also carry great cheeses, crackers, & meats if you need to do a quick charcuterie board to go with the wine you purchase. I really wished they carried a selection of "cava" I loved the wine knowledge I received from the young man I can't remember his name....he was great!

Situated directly below a condo I purchased in July '11 within Atlanta's Westside Provision District (est. 2008/2009), it wasn't a surprise why I've had such a wonderful experience being a patron here. Especially, after going to Google to find more about the shop before publishing this review: Perrine's Wine Shop was just featured in the May-2011 issue of 'Garden & Gun' and previously honored by 'Atlanta Magazine' in 2010 (http://www.atlantamagazine.com/diningarticles/Story.aspx?id=1304004). However, what is surprising after learning about the shop and owner's previous accolades is that quite often Perrine's prices are lower than the local competing generic wine & spirits franchises. Perrine can often be found behind the register, or at her laptop drafting the latest monthly wine club newsletter or wine tasting event. She's not alone, however, and the staff she's assembled are just as humble and knowledgeable as she is. Obviously, so humble that I had to use the internet to find anything out about her (historically speaking) previous to opening the wine shop's doors. Here are three things I learned vis-a-vis the internet: 1. She was the youngest to earn a challenge medal for the best young sommelier in Bordeaux in 2004. 2. She arrived in America in 2006 where she could only spoke French, which didn't stop her from earning her sommelier certification from the Master of Sommelier Institute. 3. She then worked as the sommelier at JOËL Brasserie for four years before opening Perrine's Wine Shop in 2010. Now, here are three things I know from my own experience: 1. She bends over backwards for her customers. 2. She is absolutely gorgeous. 3. And yes, she's actually French. Atlanta is lucky to have her, while my bank account is slightly less so thanks to the ridiculously convenient location not 10 yards from my front door. Cheers! My bestie mentioned that she wanted to go wine tasting while I was visiting for her birthday…read moreweekend, so I did some research and came across Château Élan Winery & Resort. From the moment I saw it, I knew we had to add it to our itinerary. Located about an hour outside of Atlanta, Château Élan is a stunning property that takes your breath away as soon as you drive onto the grounds. The scenery, architecture, and overall atmosphere make it feel like a true getaway. Upon checking in for our tasting, we were greeted by three young ladies whose bubbly personalities and welcoming energy immediately set the tone for a fun experience. For the wine tasting, guests can choose six wines (1.5 oz pours each) from an extensive selection that includes sparkling wines, whites, rosés, reds, off-dry varieties, and sweet wines. Let's just say we had a great time making our way through our selections! One feature I really appreciated was that if you don't finish all six tastings, you can keep your tasting sheet and return at a later date to complete them. We didn't need to take advantage of that option because we were having such a great time, but it's a thoughtful perk for those who might not be able to finish. The tasting room itself is spacious and comfortable, with plenty of tables and booths to relax and enjoy the experience. They also offer a variety of small plates and tapas that pair perfectly with the wines. Overall, Château Élan exceeded our expectations. Between the beautiful setting, friendly staff, and enjoyable tasting experience, it was easily one of the highlights of our weekend. We enjoyed it so much that we're already planning a return trip to stay overnight and experience everything the resort has to offer.

Being a weekend and open to the public whether wining, dining, or not, there were almost no parking when we went. Got lucky catching someone leaving. The actual tasting set up is pretty confusing. No direction when you walk in. No hosts. You have to check in. They give you a sheet with the options of wines. Then you go to another counter and choose one wine at a time reusing the same glass throughout. Unless you change from white to red and vise verse. (I personally didn't like that) All with no direction or signage and staff just looking at you being confused. It is also self seating. The ladies at the check in desk weren't very friendly, as well as at the pouring station. I get they probably get rude clientele but we weren't them =(( We ordered some charcuterie and hummus to have with our wine and we actually did not get the hummus till over an hour later. We had to tell our coordinator. I'm sure they made it and forgot because the pita was rock hard and vegetables dehydrated. Why they didn't make a new tray I don't understand. Also considering the type of establishment, why does the charcuterie come on a baking tray with baked on grease? Wine selection though, great!

Overall, it was a good experience. I felt our instruction was detailed between explaining the why behind steps and demonstrating. We got a lesson in knife skills that was cool. Our instructor was so entertaining, southern, and sassy (his words lol). He was really patient with some of the people in our group who weren't as experienced in the kitchen and gave tons of tips along the way. I'm not sure it was relaxing haha, but a group of 20 making pasta and sauce from scratch is almost guaranteed to be a chaotic good time. I recommend this for work teams, families who want a group activity, couples, friend groups, or even solo. I'd love to go back and try another cuisine class - there are so many to choose from! Plus there's a drag brunch option that our instructor teaches, which is probably really fun too.
