I recently walked into a State Farm location, and was blown away by the incredible customer service and attention to detail that I received from Shelby the Rockstar. I am now a loyal State Farm Customer for Life!!! Wow! As a disabled veteran, and with many challenging life scenarios that require very special and specific insurance coverage, including driving for a ride share company, I am now aware of how important it is, more than ever to do my due diligence, and understand what I need to stay protected, when I am on the road. I have spent 13 years with USAA, and it has been a great run.... But, I recently had a conversation with my auto insurance specialist, who informed me that they do not cover their insured drivers when the app is on, and we are on the road. This was news to me, and after much recon on the subject, I learned that there are now insurance companies that have figured out a way to weasel out of covering their drivers, because of this new "rideshare/commercial" technical detail when it comes to driving for Uber or Lyft. Some insurance companies have embraced this new industry and have created a new type of insurance called "Rideshare Coverage" as a part of the existing policy you can create. Others do not. Please do your homework, and make sure you are covered in every aspect of your life!!!! When I arrived at State Farm, and shared my concerns with Shelby, she patiently and respectfully listened and validated each of my concerns, and the challenges I was facing. She politely made notes, and immediately directed me to a variety of resources in order to make sure that I was covered on every aspect of my life. She even guided me to understand even more important variables that I had not considered. Through her patient mentorship, and full visibility with complete reality talk infused into her customer service style, she helped me to see the value in the different products State Farm offers. Not only do I now receive full coverage on my Dream Truck, and my daily driver sedan, but I also have 100K in renters coverage, and life insurance as well, AND! I have rideshare coverage for when I do rides for my customers, and I have peace of mind. Plus, with this new product and insurance, I was able to lower my monthly bill by $140!!! while lowering my deductible from $1000 to $100, and only seeing a small increase in my monthly bill! I think I found Insurance Paradise! I originally wrote this review in the summer of 2016 and it's just been sitting in my drafts ever since. Here: laugh, learn and love. Happy Valentine's Day. Review starts here: I have been with State Farm for going on 20 years now. This is the worst experience I've ever had. When I bought my car in February, I called to set up my insurance right then, while I was at the dealership. I was told by the agent (She will remain nameless... for now) that if I bundled the car insurance and renters insurance with a life insurance policy, my premium would actually be less than if I did just the car and renters. I'm working on this thing called trust lately. A typically cynical guy, my new M.O. is to trust until given a reason otherwise. So I trust her. I shouldn't have. A couple months later, the life insurance company calls to ask me some personal questions about my life. I was given no advance notice from State Farm that someone would be calling. The person from the life insurance sector was pretty bad at identifying them self, so bad in fact, that when they finally explained what they were doing, I was too skeptical that someone may have stolen my identity and was trying to get further information. So I tell them I don't want the life insurance (I already have some thru my job anyway) and tell them to cancel it. They say they'll do it and that I don't need to do anything further. (going valley girl for a moment) So, like, then... suddenly, my premium is around $52 less a month. And, like, I totally get a check from the life insurance company for like 3 times that (3 months of payments for a product I didn't want and they couldn't approve because I wouldn't finish the phone call with them). And, I'm like, Omigod you guys! YOU'RE A LIAR! So I'm all cool and shit, until I get a phone call from the agent and she wants me to call her, but I'm thinking to myself, "hell no! I don't want to talk to you and just get lied to; I think we're all good here." And that was all good and true, until about 2 months later, when I'm hit with a much larger premium than my normal monthly premium. So I call and since it's after hours, I get the after hours crew and they tell me that someone went ahead and got my life insurance interview approved. hmmmm... Can someone tell me if that's legal? I'm serious. I actually don't know if it's legal for someone to get the life insurance company to approve your life insurance policy without you yourself doing the interview. Let me know (PMs are cool... just no dick pics; I'm happily married.) OH oh oh oh oh oh! THEN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guess what happened next. Oh, you don't know?! I know, because it's so stupid that I wouldn't even have been able to DREAM, nay NIGHTMARE this up. I get a call from the agent who wants to talk to me... and I'm thinking (again), "nah, gir... we good." But then something inside me says "maybe you aren't good... maybe if you don't call her, you ain't gonna get no refund." And so I pick up the phone and call her back. Me; HEY GIRL! What's UP!? You rang?! (Keep it positive Luke. keep. it. positive.) And she tells me if I don't want the insurance, I have to COME IN and sign a cancellation form. Me: Can you email or fax it to me? I will have to come in on my lunch and I'd prefer to eat lunch during that time. (instead of dealing with this ever exploding shotgun burst of diarrhea) Her: No. You have to come in to sign it. Don't worry. Just let me know when you're on your way, and I'll have it ready for you to sign. Suffice it to say, when I got there at 12:35pm (and I told her 12:30pm or shortly thereafter), she was about to walk out the door for lunch and she didn't have the form printed out. I'm kind of afraid to post this, because I'm afraid of some other form of retaliation from that office. n.b. this morning, I called the after hours office to ask them if I really had to come in to sign the paper work or if she was just making this up to make my life inconvenient. They didn't know, but they said they would get in touch with Perry directly and have him address it. He never got back to me about it. He saw me when I walked in, turned around and walked away (quite literally into a corner). Very strange. I'll be moving my policy to a different branch soon, because this kind of incompetent behavior is not the State Farm I knew in TX, CA or NYC. This kind of behavior does not deserve the money I work hard for. Angela was such a big help the other day! I had multiple issues that needed to be resolved: canceling an auto policy, reinstating a renter policy that was canceled on accident, and looking for the right renters policy to cancel (it misspelled and under one of our landlords other properties). She got all of this done in about an hour after making calls and doing some digging. She sorted out my mess and i couldn't be more thankful! This review is on their customer service not the rates or other services. This is not my agents office, theirs is in NW and I moved to SW but had to sign loss docs for the corporate insurance to proceed with my theft loss. This was one of the few State Farm offices that will handle another agents file. I was surprised that out of many SF offices very few will assist in another's customers docs, when all it is is printing an email and acknowledging my signature and me providing my cars title it took less than 10 minutes but saved me a 45 minute ride across town, thank you. read more

Regarding Corona Virus; Talking to Perry Olson's State Farm office right now- they said they aren't doing anything to help their customers during civil-19 crisis. Usaa AND Progressive are giving their customers 20% of their premium back and Geico is doing 15%! I've been with Perry olsen State Farm for about 15 years and the chick who I just spoke to told me they don't have to do anything and that there isn't a manger to speak to and hung up on me! Wtf- how dare you hang up on a customer who wasn't even being rude, who just asked to speak to somebody higher up. Before hanging up she said that maybe in a week or so they might decide to do something- I said it's not like this crisis started one day ago- the world has been shut down since March 17th! I asked to speak to Perry or a manager and that's when she said no one is available and hung up- I am NOT impressed!!! Horrible customer service, especially as I have been with State Farm since I was 15 and with this office for last 15 years! She was so rude and I am appalled at State Farm- it's how you handle yourself when the going gets tough that shows your true character... I guess we just saw yours!!!! read more

So I changed my insurance through this office about 6 months ago. I was searching for quotes for auto and motorcycle insurance and popped in here because I was in the area. The office is small with a really nice staff. The initial quote and sign up process was good. Recently, I forgot to make the payment for my renters insurance. (I got a discount because I had a good driving record and purchased 3 policies.) The gave me a courtesy call and informed me of the lee-way period. I thought this was really nice because my old insurance company never would have done that. So, I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new insurance broker. read more

While I was still in the scene of the accident, he was texting me all the instructions that I needed that calmed me down during my ordeal. Since Joe convinced me to get life insurance with State Farm, I guess it was only a matter of time before Joe convinced me to switch my auto insurance to State Farm. I had been with my previous company for over 10 years and was very happy with it. Joe looked over my policy and said that if I switched to State Farm he could get me the exact same coverage for $100 cheaper! I finally switched and am very happy that I did so and that I have been able to go to Joe for any insurance needs or questions. He seems to be knowledgeable about most, if not all insurance types and is very accommodating in going over each line of every policy to make sure that it makes sense for me. read more

Very disorganized agency. We signed up with an Asian girl named Kathy. Specifically told her we had an accident and gave her all the details to make sure it was worth it for us to switch but apparently the quote she gave did not include the accident (which we later found out she hadn't included in the initial quote). She quoted us $109/mo which is cheaper than our previous insurance so we took the deal. Two weeks later got a letter in the mail saying that we would now be paying $220/mo. Unfortunately we were out of the country for a couple months and they needed us to physically come sign paperwork saying we want to cancel and no other way around it. During this time no one could tell us why our premium went up so much. Got back and immediately went to their offices to cancel. They told us that we would be getting $144 for the month of March (or so we thought). Waited for the check back for a couple weeks then called three times before we got a call back. Spoke to a manager who was confused about the start date of the insurance etc, he apologized and said we wouldn't be getting a refund after all. So basically Asian chick named Kathy from this office TRICKED us on signing up then increased our rate and caused us a huge headache for nothing. Thanks Tiffany, great work. read more

I have had perry Olson as my agent for close to 9 years now. As far as auto insurance goes they are a great office to work with. I have only had to put in for one claim but they were very quick and diligent. However, I purchased a home through this office using State Farm bank. Perry Olson was directly involved with the purchase and the paperwork. When covid 19 hit I was unemployed like the rest of the world. Several friends told me that their banks like Wells Fargo and chase were allowing people to defer payments for two moths. I called State Farm and after holding two hours they told me they were only offering forbearance. Which the government made them do. They had no interest at all in helping people. My thoughts... wtf happened to "like a good neighbor State Farm is there"... yea they are there to kick you when your down. Go somewhere else for your mortgage needs. I cannot give Perry and all of his is staff enough stars. I've been a customer of his since I moved here in 2006. He and his whole staff have bent over backwards and gone above and beyond numerous times to help me. When I bought a new car on a weekend Perry himself called me via his cell phone from his weekend and hooked me up with a temp policy number so I could drive the car home that day. I have 3 car policies, an articles policy and my homeowners through them. My rates always go down and the longer over been with them it seems my deals get better and better. I'm always astonished when I add a new car or change something at how low everything is. The staff here is so laid back and friendly, I love them all. Every single one of them is polite, nice, friendly and caring. He must find great people and get rid of those who aren't great because they are always great. Plus whenever you go into the office, there's balloons and candy and the atmosphere is just warm and friendly. I do really love them. They also have financial services and they refinanced my car loan at 1% lower than my negotiated loan 24 hours after I bought my car. Also they are working diligently right now on a mortgage pre approval for me. Clayton Thomson in mortgages rocks! They are the third lender I've contacted and the other two haven't returned my calls. And I'm working on a mortgage loan and I have a top tier fico score. You'd think I could get someone interested. But these guys are very responsive and easy to deal with. They deal with me in the evenings, text me, and continually and unobtrusively check on me. I recommend them to everyone. They are truly awesome. Customer service like just about none other. Not only was the policy not added, but the agent's office replied via EMAIL - this was URGENT!
