I first went to see Dr. Ienna about a year ago when my dentist recommended him for a gum graft procedure due to a severely receding gum line on a couple of teeth. Dr. Ienna agreed with my dentist and recommended the gum graft procedure be done sooner than later. I had to delay the procedure for a few months due to other reasons but finally scheduled to get it done in December. Although a gum graft isn't the greatest procedure in the world, I don't think I could have had a better periodontist for the job. Dr. Ienna not only has an incredible surgical hand but also fantastic bedside manner. I was awake for the entire surgery (2 hours including the numbing process), but Dr. Ienna was constantly checking in to ask for a thumbs up if everything was ok. The nurse who worked with him on the procedure was also really warm, professional, and reassuring (she had the procedure done twice herself and was able to answer every question I had for her). The real kicker? Not only did he give out his cell number for emergencies, but he also called me from that cell number later that evening and left a very kind voicemail to make sure everything was ok and to remind me of a few important post-op instructions. With it now being a little over a month after the procedure, I've had 3 additional checkups with Dr. Ienna and I can honestly say that the results have been worth the surgery and the post-op discomfort (about 4 days of soreness and 2-3 weeks of adjusted lifestyle). The gum line looks brand new!! Dr. Ienna did a remarkable job and the results have completely exceeded my expectations. Aside from Dr. Ienna himself, his entire staff (especially the nurses) is incredibly warm (except for one receptionist who really doesn't seem to like her job much). The waiting area is small but comfortable, and the procedure rooms are the same. They also have a TV in each room, which is a nice distraction during surgery (although I was ironically watching Food Network... looking at all the things I knew I wouldn't be able to eat for a few weeks). Bottom line? Periodontal surgery isn't fun, but if I ever need it again, I'm absolutely returning to Dr. Ienna. Thank you so much for your amazing work and, just as importantly, how much you care about your patients!

There is a comfortable waiting area that seats 8 people. The exam rooms are well lit, clean, smell lovely and all have TV's in them, which is a nice amenity to have while some one is digging around in your mouth for an hour or two. Dr Ienna himself, is very intelligent and has a vast working knowledge of dentistry and periodontics. He is gentle, precise and keeps the lines of communication wide open. During my gum graft surgery, he would talk to me through the procedure, constantly asking me if I was okay. He has a great surgical hand and I would recommend him to anyone whom needs periodontic work.

They also were not able to help me with an issue I was having and told me there was nothing that could be done about it. The new place I go now, has since helped me with fixing that same issue. Love how convenient they are off of the LIE, the new space is fantastic and love how completely kid centric the entire space is. There's video games to distract the kids while they wait, my kids hate that they never wait too long to play them. In the exams there are TV's and sunglasses they offer to each child and every flavor in the world for the toothpaste and flouride treatments. I never feel like I'm pressured to do any unnecessary treatments for my kids and every dental tech there is very knowledgeable, kind and sooooo patient with their charges in the chair no matter how difficult they are being. Unfortunately, my recent experience with the billing department was extremely disappointing. I contacted the office regarding a billing issue and was instructed by the billing manager, Odwin, to contact my insurance company to dispute the charge myself. After spending considerable time on the phone with my insurance provider, I was informed that the problem did not originate with the insurance company, but rather with the office's billing process. What frustrated me most was not only being given incorrect information, but also the way I was treated during the interaction. The billing manager was rude and disrespectful, and after the error was identified, there was no acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused and no apology. Patients should not have to spend their own time resolving internal billing errors, especially while being treated unprofessionally. While I continue to appreciate the dentists and staff who provide excellent clinical care, my experience with the billing department left me very discouraged. I hope the office addresses these concerns so that other families do not have a similar experience.

I'm not sure whether it's kosher to review a dentist on Yelp, but here goes…read more Dr. Cuttler has been my dentist since birth (i.e. almost 30 years ago [waaah]), so I guess you could say he knows my mouth more intimately than anyone else. While I would submit that it's not fun to go to the dentist, seeing Henry is the best dental experience I could hope for. He's smart, funny, kind, and a talented professional, always injecting humor and personality into my visit. (Speaking of injecting, he's perfected this cheek-shaking method of giving you novocaine, so it's pretty painless) You have the impression that he totally knows what he's doing, and has seen-this-done-that with every other patient before. I'll also get e-mailed reminders for appointments. (Once, as a joke, he e-mailed my mom one of my x-rays and joked with her that he was holding me for ransom in his office.) The service is exceptional, my mom has been in his chair quickly and at ungodly hours when she's had a problem. The same goes for the hygenist, Cheryl, who has been cleaning me up for years, with competance and professionalism. She used to let me pick the flavor of the cleaning toothpaste (I always liked cherry, thank you very much), but unfortunately she's curtailed that since I've gotten older now. She also puts together a mean care package of floss and a toothbrush that I can take home with me in a baggie. Mmm. If you need a dentist, I can't recommend them highly enough. I don't even live on the island, but come in from NYC just to see them.

She took an x-ray and saw that there was an abscess under a crown that needed to be taken care of right away. She contacted Henry, sent him the x-ray and he recommended several endodontists to do a root canal. Cheryl then proceeded to call to see who was available and to help make arrangements for me to see the specialist. That's going above and beyond. They are truly caring professionals!
