Our party of four walked in the brewery on a Friday evening and the big open space was buzzing with activity. Groups of friends and families were gathered and, from all appearances, very much enjoying themselves. We found a table and ordered beers. I chose the Blood Orange Wheat, ABV 4.7%, after asking what the Schwarzbier was, and the wheat beer was served in a Persimmons Brewery logoed glass. It was cold and good tasting and I appreciated the lighter beer in this warmer night as I enjoyed my tacos from down the block. The brewery from my observation is family-friendly, dog-friendly, and (bring your own) food-friendly. The staff also were friendly and helpful. I believe this is the last remaining physical location for Persimmon. The beer is so good - I wish they still had other locales. But the servers were friendly, and the restrooms were clean. Huge bonus? The pinball! Slightly awkward is they seem to stick to the "stand in a line and order from this one spot" way of serving even when it is not busy. Persimmon is located off the main drag towards the north end of Downtown Deland. It's one of those breweries where the location is a repurposed from something else, which always gives it a nice look and feel. The vibe here was very quite and chill, with the quality of brews being very good. Service was a bit slow, but they did have a lengthy and eclectic selection on hand which was nice. Though not a place that I would make an effort to return to, if the opportunity came up, I would not hesitate. read more

Stop by after having lunch in the area. Upon entering the smell hit me strong. Not sure what it was, but it was not pleasant. Big open area with seating throughout the bewery and also had bar seats. I opt for a flight to try certain beers they had offered. I didn't really like any of them and usually I'm a fan of good beers. None of them hit the spot for me. Came to visit with my class to celebrate our Senior Week. The atmosphere of the building was really fun, but also relaxing. You could see the brewing equipment, the bar was clean and accessible, and the seating was comfy. There was pool, music, and board games. Service was incredible! It was so quick to order, get our drinks, and have the empty glasses cleared. My group loved the pineapple cider! I also enjoyed a glass of Sauvignon blanc. Excellent craft brews. I've always enjoyed Oktoberfest beers, and the Persimmon Hollow offering is one of the best I've had, right up there with the one from Barrie House in Ybor City. Great brewery. My husband and I each ordered a flight of 4, all different beers, and were impressed when we found al of the beers to be delicious. The staff are friendly as well and informative. The brewery has a large open area with lots of bar and table space. They have arcade games, pool tables, board games and so much more. Oh, TVs and WIFI. They have a nice selection of branding merchandise (shirts, glasses, etc.). They are in the heart of Historic Downtown Deland and it makes a great place to stop and wet your whistle after visiting the many antique and other vintage shops in the area. NOTE: They do NOT serve food, but you can bring food in. On Friday, starting at 5:00 PM they shut down the street for a farmer's market. Make sure you park in a lot further down the street so you don't get stuck inside the zone if you don't plan on hanging out until after the market closes. Which brings me to parking. There are several small lots along the same street with 3-hour parking. There is street parking but limited on the main streets. Definitely returning!!! read more

Great beer and a great scene. This brewery reminds me of one along the west coast of Florida. It is located right in the alley with a bunch of other restaurants and cute shops. The public area of the brewery has video games, darts, and other fun things in an open air environment. Not sure how it would be during summer but during spring it was fine - they have plenty of large fans. The beer here is pretty good. I had a flight and enjoyed some more than others. A refreshing brewery in Downtown Deland! Walked in on a Saturday early afternoon and was taken away by the place. It's like walking into a garage. It's very rustic and the ventilation system was great for the place to keep their door open the whole time. It didn't feel hot at all considering Florida summer heat. We ordered the Laketime and Day Dirty Blonde and it was very delicious. Super cold and crisp, coming straight from the spout. They have some amazing crafts beers and some guest beers on tap also. They have Darts a pool table and board games. They also were ok with the little ones being there. The vibe is fun - open, industrial. I didn't see a food menu which is probably the only drawback. Great beer and location! I loved the NE IPA Beer Cuddlez and the NE IPA Gypsy Hiker best! This brewery has a few locations. I have been to the one in Orlando downtown and just visited the Deland location. The Orlando locations serves food too and had vegan options. The Deland location doesn't have food, but has a great artisan taco place next door called Neighbors and a wood fired pizza place too that you can bring over to Persimmon. We were exploring Deland, Florida and stumbled upon this brewery. It was in what looked like an old manufacturing building. There is a large seating area with darts and a few billiards tables. They serve 12 beers and a have a few rotating specialty brews. I had a flight of four, including a wheat, coffee porter, a red, and an IPA. The porter was excellent. The wheat was a good cleanser after the porter. They also had a selection of swag including pint glasses, hats, patches, and t-shirts. No food available but there was a specialty taco joint across the street and some other restaurants within easy walking distance. read more

Really cool brewery with great bartenders and upcycled vibe. Went on a Saturday afternoon at 2pm and it wasn't crowded at all. Friendly and welcoming. Mix of all ages. There's a small parking lot directly across the street (about 15 cars) and then another lot about 500' away. Both free. Tip: dog friendly (Yay!). The bartenders have snacks for the dogs and offered a bowl of water. A gesture well appreciated. Tip: Persimmon does not serve food but there is a taqueria that does. It seems like they would deliver if you asked them to. Shout out for the most creative bathroom experience I have seen. Recycled vintage doors with door knockers and vintage sink tap. I am a craft beer lover and love to rate all beers on Untappd app. I have found that wherever I travel in the world, the craft breweries, Nano-breweries, tasting rooms - whatever you may call them - have the same vibe - happy, beer lovers rejoicing and chatting. This space is so cool, it's upcycled interior matches this 'hood with the antique shop and businesses in this block. I was visiting with my sis who also loves craft beer. The IPA Gypsy Hiker was to die for (I love the pine and subtle juiciness). The food was takeaway across the street at Neighbour's Taqueria with fun taco names like Hipster Neighbour, Redneck Neighbour, etc. I didn't order tacos as I had just eaten. But next visit I will for sure! I recommend popping in if in the area, or go out of your way to go here! We had just been kayaking with the manatees at Blue Spring State Park and were on our way back to Ormond Beach. We looked up breweries in the area and was not disappointed by our visit. Was hanging out with friends in Deland recently (it was the halfway point for where we were each coming from) and we decided to take a stop in Persimmon Hollow for a drink while we were in town. It was a beautiful day, so the garage door was open, dogs were out and about with their owners and the brewery was reasonably full. We grabbed a table and some brews. I had the Blood Orange Wheat, which is an American pale wheat beer that is brewed with blood oranges. It was a very solid brew - easy to drink, while also unique. There are plenty of board games, which was good as we had some kids with us and they enjoyed playing games while we sipped our drinks and chatted. This is a family and dog-friendly place with helpful staff and a casual vibe. I personally like their slogan of "drink sensibly, but get weird." read more
