Traveling through the area we stopped in to Persimmons Waterfront. We sat on the outside back deck and had a great view of the water with a nice breeze. The inside is spacious and not overly themed in anyway, and the back deck is also large with tarps providing shade. We had a very nice server who as attentive but not overly so. She was there when we needed her. The food was very good. Two of us had hamburgers and one had blackened fish tacos and the other fish and chips. It all came out as ordered and hot. We enjoyed our meal there every much.

I've been dining here for numerous years. My sister and I arrived from Warsaw first seeing a 3 legged ginger cat who was just sublime as we parked. The weather was extremely generous for Feb no jacket sun in 70s with a view you can never buy. Persimmons being on waterfront is huge pull but so much more its the history of a small town which played such a huge history in NC history and all the historical architectural structures and ability to park walk enjoy. The entrance lounge area is so comfortable and filled with local artist portraits for sale. We were quickly seated. My sister thought she reckonized an old family friend they were just ladies who liked our outfits who came over to chat. Toby was our server very gracious and splendid service. We decided to switch previous entree orders plus I added appetizer which was so divine the feta pita was amazing. I am unfortunately plagued by allergies and sensitive to certain spices got a peppercorn during appetizer so had to excuse myself and refresh but the flavor profile of appetizer was worth my fault of chatting too much got pepper rush. Nothing could spoil our time my sister had just had bday day before so it was festive conversation and dining. Her entree of pork chop was a tad rare for her our server was very accommodating and Mananger quickly came over to reassure her that Chef was making her the chicken which I was having fresh to perfection. The plate size here match charger size plus heated and food always arrives extremely freshly cooked even broccoli isn't overcooked so rare. Portions are beyond most dining experiences. I could never eat full entree here always having leftovers is great to bring back to Raleigh. Look at pics there are 3 butterfly chicken breasts buttery mashed potatoes and succulent broccoli the mushroom peppercorn en glaze tie all flavors to a higher taste profile. After dining chatting enjoying as we were leaving I asked staff about ginger cat whom is named Sampson he's quite the legend in marina. Thanks for wonderful time as always will be back soon!

I have to say that the highlight of the service was the "service". Adrian did a fantastic job of making us feel welcome. When I commented on this, he mentioned that the manager insists on being "hospitable" to the clientele. Huh. Hospitable in the hospitality industry, why don't others get this new technique? I ordered two dishes: the brussel sprouts and the unicorn fish. Both the dishes were superb explorations of flavor. I treated my father, my stepmother, and her sister to dinner. They all raved about the food. We sat out back on the water. The views were memory stimulants. My stepmother was fascinated with the ducks in the water nearby. It felt like the definition of relaxation.

The fried white fish was delicious. The fried shrimp were ok but were not fresh shrimp. The fried lobster tail were tough and did not have a fresh taste. My wife had the fried crab cake which was delicious. All the condiments were delicious. The service was outstanding. I highly recommend.

We made reservations for 4:45 pm and were seated upstairs with a view of the water. Our server Julia was so friendly, energetic and awesome! She recommended food for us and answered several of our questions. My husband ordered the grilled pork chop with Brussel sprouts and mac n cheese. I ordered the mussels and i requested the chorizo on the side. I'm not a big chorizo fan. I absolutely loved the steamed mussels with pita points. They were so delicious!!! My husband loved his pork chop and sides as well. I look forward to going back. We did not have room to eat dessert, maybe next time.

Persimmons was recommended to us while we were visiting New Bern and the location really got us excited because it's on the water. We love seeing the boats and the flying fish in the water! There is not a bad seat in the restaurant. Outside and inside you can see everything! The staff was friendly and kind from the time we walked in the door. We didn't have a reservation for a Sunday evening but they were quick to accommodate our party of 5. The waitress was efficient and knowledgeable about menu items and kept our glasses full and kept us updated on our meal. The food came out quickly and was beautifully presented. We enjoyed Shrimp and Grits, the Seafood Platter, and the Unicorn Fish. All were top notch and full of flavor! The hush puppies were the size of a baseball and so yummy! Perfectly golden. The manager, Kelsey come to check on us and was the most genuine GM we have talked to. She is running a great restaurant and we all said we hope the owners know how amazing she was. We will come back! Thank you Kelsey and staff for taking such good care of us Mountain Folks!

Persimmons has the most wonderful outdoor seating and beautiful views. I have been lucky enough to come here in the winter and sit outside multiple times. I really appreciate that. They will open up the back area in the off months on the warmer days. The staff here are friendly and the service is quick. This is the great spot for lunch and delicious southern food. The grilled cheese is a favorite of mine. It's nice to have such a delicious and substantial non-meat option on the menu. I tried the ho cakes on my last visit and would definitely recommend as well!!

Good place, great tasting food with a lot of flavoring. The only problem (at times) is the wait from being there to getting a seat.

Great crust and tender meat. Today's was not that. Tender meat but the crust was a smidge over done, not enough to ruin the meal, but nothing to fantasize about like the early days of this place. They have the Lagavulin 16. Winner winner chicken dinner right there. Tullamore Dew was well would have made 5 stars. Service was good though. Professional. And they have two pretty big TVs to watch sports on. Ladies Flag Football baby. No one to revisit though like other establishments in the area. Very light rock music in the background. They worked well together and made sure we were well taken care of. If you went to a restaurant just for the staff then this would get them five stars. But I don't come just for the staff or ambiance. I come to restaurants for the food and with a limited budget I want value and quality for our money. When we go to a place we haven't tried before I like to try sampler plates or try smaller portions of more items to learn what they are good at. Most BBQ joints have a sampler platter but there wasn't one on the menu. I asked about it and they said it was common to get smaller portions of the proteins as a combo (again not on the menu) but if you do it, doesn't come with the bread or the side even though the price is a bit more. You get to choose three meats. Ok I ordered the sausage, burnt ends, pork belly and a side of fries. The sausage was very good, thank you. The pork belly was a very small portion and fattier than I've had before, sweetened and too salty. The burnt ends were bad, I couldn't even finish them. Perhaps the worst burnt ends I've ever had. Very salty, I mean way too much salt. greasy, truly burnt not just the bark and meat like most burnt ends, and the sauce wasn't very good either. I was really disappointed. The fries were great, I would come here just for those. My wife ordered the turkey pot pie which was small and dry. She asked for some gravy on the side which they promptly got out. She indicated it was very good gravy.

Ceilings were covered with draping American flags that had a cool visual effect. They have an extensive whiskey menu and a nice selection of local brews on tap. I tried one of the local brews: Beerista, a white stout from Shortway Brewing Company. It had a good nose of coffee and vanilla but it wasn't carried through on the sip. It was a lot lighter in texture than a traditional stout. For food I had the short rib. It was seasoned well and was super tender. The side of potatoes were tasty but on the border of being too salty. Green beans were average. They were good to counter the saltiness from the potatoes. I'd probably would give this place another shot if nearby.

We enjoyed the watermelon carpaccio, fried green tomatoes, garden risotto with added shrimp. Everything was very good. The tomato portion was enormous and the beer batter was crispy and light. The risotto? It wasn't really risotto, it was more like a creamy rice but it was delicious. And those shrimp were big, juicy and tasted like they just came out of the sea. The watermelon, though, was a shocker. It was grilled! It had a really great smoky flavor that was totally unexpected and the dressing was light and fresh. I tried to make reservation but the restaurant would not take a reservation for one so I went early. My options were the bar or in the dark tunnel. I chose the tunnel as I thought I was going to get a table not a high top there. Then where the menu was placed that would have me facing the back wall as the other seat was near the kitchen entrance. So I moved there but I still didn't have a view of the performers. So things didn't start well but I ordered the boba boat mocktail and the mac n cheese with short ribs. My waitress then informed me that they were out of the short rib and would brisket be ok. I hate brisket so I said no and she went and got me the menu to order something else. While I was looking at the menu with my phone flashlight (other tables had actual flashlights, they came prepared) as the tunnel was too dark to see without it, I was given mac n cheese with short rib according to the food runner. I questioned him as I had been told they were out but he went and checked and told me it was the last of the short rib. It was not short rib and someone lied. When the waitress returned, she thought it was burnt ends and checked with the kitchen and they told her brisket. Whatever the mystery meat was, it was not what I ordered. Did they think I wouldn't notice or know the meats are prepared differently. It is dark there so it is hard to know what you are eating. The mystery meat dish was taken back to the kitchen and I asked if they could prepare it with vegetables instead as mac n cheese seemed like the safest option on the menu with the mystery meats. I wish they just had what I originally ordered. The specialty made veggie dish was good but I expected more flavors with the cheese. It was kind of bland. I did try the dessert too. I got the strawberry lemonade cake. The strawberries were the best part as the cake was on the dry side. While eating this, the check was brought to the table. This is my biggest pet peeve to not wait until the guest is finished eating. The most frustrating part was that while they refused to increase the lighting when I arrived and asked as I couldn't read the menu. They immediately turned the lights up when another guest asked as I was finishing my dessert. The chef came to the table from the front dining area. It was my understanding that things were going to be made right. I didn't expect to be charged the full price for the dish without the premium meat. Then there was the service failure of bringing out a dish I hadn't ordered to begin with. The decor here is outstanding, with the copper ceilings and the speakeasy feel. The clock out front caught my attention too. They went all out with the details and elegance. So it is disappointing that the food and service is not up to the same standards.

All the tables were full of friend and family groups playing board games and enjoying various flatbreads and libations. Seems like the kind of place the local neighborhoods enjoy and spend quite a bit of time at. At the moment, can't remember the names of the cocktails we got, its been a few months. But I do remember the toasts. This place doesnt have a kitchen in a traditional sense, more like a prep area where they bring ingredients together (that I imagine are made off site) and toast it up to present you with some pretty unique combos and flavors. Honestly, a great way around some of the health code restrictions that start to apply to more in-depth operations while still having a robust menu. We ordered a variety for the 4 of us, as this was dinner that evening. Gettin Figgy with it was a favorite, as were the Pig and the Goat, and the Reuben. Their version of a Cubano was alright, but as could be the case you'd imagine, the pork was a little dry. The caprese was the only one we got that seemed to be a universal thumbs down, the avocado spread wasn't working with the other ingredients. Definitely would come back for some of these toasts, and drinks!

I went because that sounded really good. Pro Tip: They only sell lobster rolls on Sunday. It appears food cost are rising and the orders don't fully justify the expense in the customers eyes. The menu still looked good so I stayed. Olivia was my server and she was great. Super knowledgeable about the menu with great suggestions. I wanted the brussel sprouts but was a little reluctant because of the beets. She said it was good and give it a try. I glad I did what a treat. The brussels were lightly fried. The real treat was the flavor profile. The bitterness of the brussels, pickled sweetness of the beets, creaminess of the goat cheese with the crunch of the pecans....wow. So good and it was lightly dressed with the pickling liquid. I went with the jerk salmon for the entree. The salmon was cooked perfect and had a nice crust on it. It was served with a citrus (mango forward) salsa on top of jasmine coconut rice. It is all a great idea and the combo was good. Only feedback was the red bell peppers seemed out of place and took away from the dish and the jasmine rice was a little too bland. I could taste the hint of coconut which was good but some seasoning or a touch of salt on the rice would have paired great with the salmon and orange glaze. Over a gem in New Bern with great service.
