Kate Laviolette is one of the most greediest peopoe I've ever met. Also, she never paid me for what…read moremy small fox painting had sold for. She held onto it for me because I didn't have anywhere to put it since I was sleeping out of my car at the time. She said someone bought it, but she never paid me for it, so who knows what happened. A few years ago, I would regularly go to classes and it was enjoyable. There were a couple experiences where it gave me a uncomfortable feeling about her. We did a hiking session together. Nobody showed up but me, so she and I went. I thought it was nice, but noticed that when she wanted to take a picture with me, it was just for her socials so her image would look good. Then not too long after that, there was a art event at the studio which I paid and went to. I figured it was just an art show but there was more to it. At the time, I struggled a lot more when it came to crowds. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone, have fun, and to see what it was all about. I brought my sketch book to draw and I also joined in the audience to watch the aerial show (I think it was) even though I thought it was an art show. I got intense anxiety and overwhelm (probably from the energy from being in a crowd or certain people), so I left and cried in the car. I had texted Kate and told her what happened, but she didn't care. Kept my money too. Was only there for 15 or 20 minutes. So overall, these experiences showed me how greedy and fake she was. I start going back in November because I'm getting back into shape and I wanted to try the aerial classes again, but I can't afford very much, so I go with the 5 class plan for $59. My mom is the one that even helped me and I told her that. I completed the classes (except for one which I was not feeling that day, but I already showed up, so no sense in trying to get another class). I was not planning on going again (a couple of people including an instructor found that out by asking me questions) because I wanted to continue at a gym since my main focus ended up being working out/exercising. The gym is what is beneficial for me. I felt aerial yoga wasn't. Besides this reason, I didn't feel fully welcome and the instructors were not patient (my coordination is poor) except for one, but I forgot her name, I'm sorry. I came to find this past Tuesday night that my account was charged by the studio and my account was at 97 cents. I texted Kate personally. You can see the whole conversation plus more in the screenshot photos for yourselves. Which includes her trying to offer a partial refund through Venmo which is outside of her business. If she can offer that, then she could've just given me my refund. Acted fake by throwing in "we've enjoyed having you here" to again be careful as a business owner and her reputation. I emailed her because I kept checking my account on the studio website, since it kept saying my plan wasn't canceled yet and it had already been a whole day. So I told her to close my account and to refund me, or I'm going to report her and THEN she finally decided to cancel it. She also told me she would refund my original payment, but she only did a partial refund of $38 out of $59. She lied and is clearly greedy. Making it into a whole complex mess, when it couldve just been played out smoothly. She blocked me after I told her to not respond back to my text or she did after my email, I'm not sure, but I'll be spreading all this information around everywhere. I made a post about it on my Facebook and someone mentioned that they've heard of this situation happening a lot at this studio and what happened to one of their clients, so that didn't surprise me.

Not too sure of all the complaints below here…read more This seems to me like there is a large population of old-timers that have experienced an operational change in the business that they are personally not satisfied with. I'm a Calisthenics athlete, with much experience in a variety of gyms. This is one of the only locations with a Sauna, Steam Room, and two Olympic-sized pools with multiple lanes readily available. Their core equipment is fantastic - there are no bent barbells as mentioned in the reviews below (again, no idea where this is coming from) You are paying to stay healthy. So focus on staying healthy. As far as the staff - they are young, but attentive and kind. I myself am 30 and I have literally never had a problem with them. If I have locked myself out of a locker, need education on the available personal trainers, or if I (like one of the posts below) mention a ***particular*** (1/1000) towel hasn't been washed properly - they take it right off my hands. I personally love Genesis and the staff as an athlete who needs a local place to hit all muscle groups. Do not let the below comments from individuals below who probably couldn't pick up a toothpick sway you from a fantastic center. As far as cancellation goes, I have heard nothing but that is an easy process. "Predatory" does not describe the cancellation process at Genesis. Thank you everyone there for supporting our health adventure as we continue to enjoy your facility!

Rather than acknowledging legitimate concerns, you hide behind contracts, excuses, and talking…read morepoints. What I find remarkable is that Genesis Health Clubs Miramont South continues to ask members for more money while simultaneously expecting them to tolerate broken equipment, maintenance delays, and facility issues that seem to have become the norm rather than the exception. Your response actually highlights the problem. You mention having thousands of members, which means Genesis has access to substantial revenue. That makes the persistent state of disrepair even more difficult to understand, not easier. The fact that your defense is essentially "we are big and things take time" is astonishing. As for the spin room, claiming that members are providing "great feedback" is frankly insulting, and either profoundly out of touch or intentionally dishonest. Either management is completely disconnected from member experience, or it is choosing to ignore it. Anyone who regularly uses that room knows exactly how miserable those conditions can be. Members are not blind, and they are not stupid. We know the difference between a problem being fixed and management pretending it has been fixed. What is most frustrating is the complete lack of accountability. Every problem comes with an explanation. Every complaint comes with an excuse. Every concern is met with a canned response explaining why members should lower their expectations and continue paying anyway. At some point, Genesis needs to stop blaming parts shortages, policies, and circumstances, and start taking responsibility for the quality of the product it is selling. The reality is that Genesis charges premium prices while delivering an increasingly substandard experience. I no longer believe management is interested in hearing criticism, only in defending decisions that have already been made and in complete denial of the state of the facility. Never seen the pool in such rough shape. Most of the lounge chairs are gone and the remaining ones are broken.
