I first reached out to Pest Tech after looking around for a company to tent for termites. We have been in our home nine years and were overdue. I had seen the owner, Ian, on a real estate You Tube informational vlog and was impressed with the expertise and information he shared. I was also very impressed with the office staff and especially with Zara, whom I cannot speak highly enough of. I was very close to signing with Terminex before calling Pest Tech. However, after seeing the You Tube segment by Derek Okahashi, in which he interviewed Ian, I decided to give them a call. I was impressed. AND, after we set up an initial date for tenting AND for initial quarterly service, I put Pest Tech through the paces...We needed to be careful with the solar panels, I didn't want the Puakenikeni tree affected, please don't disrupt the plants near the house. AND we had to change dates at least twice due to complications with our construction schedule and the availability of the house we were going to stay in with our pets. They were willing to set up my initial quarterly service the same day as my tenting so that the animals and I did not need to vacate on two separate dates. Zara and the office staff dealt with my nervous first time tenting woes very professionally and with empathy and worked very hard to accommodate all of my concerns. Zara stopped by several times at a moment's notice to inspect and look at areas we were finding termites as we were pulling up hardwood floors infested with them. I cannot speak highly enough of their team, and specifically of my rep, Zara, who listened patiently and worked diligently to protect all that we were concerned about with a smile and an empathetic attitude. DO NOT use this company!! I live in a townhouse where the association hired this company. All homeowners were instructed to sit through an hour long informative meeting prior to fumigation, where we were told what to do and what not to do before tenting. A representative named Dennis Mijo ran the meeting, and told homeowners a few key things that would later be completely untrue. 1. We were told that someone had to be home the morning of fumigation for a final walk through. 2. We were told that the back patio along the fence line would not be tented, so we could move our items along there because they would not be touched and affected in any way. 1. The day of the fumigation, I took a day off from work as I was instructed to be home for the final walk through (scheduled for 9am). I waited until 9:30am and eventually walked out and asked a worker if they were still going to do the walkthrough. The worker responded by asking "did you bag up everything?" to which I responded yes, and then he said "you're all good". Why did I take off a day from work then? Why was I told I needed to be there for the walk through then? This was a small inconvenience as I wasted a day off but I still had good faith. 2. For the second major issue which was much worse, I attached a photo for your guys' reference. Prior to fumigation I moved my plants along the back patio along the fence as instructed by Dennis. The day of installation the workers were putting up the tarp and not holding the back side of the tarp, letting it fly all over the place, knocking everything over. (I was staying at a neighbor's unit nearby so I was able to witness the whole thing). There was no effort to rush and secure the tarp, move items, or even have a sense of urgency. The workers watched as the tarp flew around, and one even yelled out "who is holding the back?" and they began to laugh as it flew all over the place. When I came back to my patio post fumigation, I was brought to tears as my plants and priceless orchids were completely destroyed. I have had these orchids 6+ years, some that are very valuable to me as they were passed on from a deceased family member. If I had known they would be damaged I would not have left them in the instructed area. There was ZERO attempt to protect my items and ZERO ATTEMPT to even clean things up or fix them. The absolute lack of care from this company is astounding. The misinformation is one issue, but the lack of accountability puts them over the edge. I contacted a representative about the incident, who merely apologized via text and said she would pass on the word, but I received no follow up. I've fully accepted the loss of my plants, but the lack of care and effort is something I will never understand. I also posted a photo to social media and tagged the company, with no response. Excellent honest company!! Dennis Mijo Senior Pest Management Consultant, 808-230-4251 gave me my estimate. Two other companies came in with higher quotes plus more cubic based on the measurement. I gave Dennis the "cubic number" from the other companies but he stated it was too high and not necessary. Dennis crawled under the house to confirm if active live termites existed based on the wood damage in the home (see pictures). From what I learned about Pest Tech, they are all senior experienced guys that started this company. Majority of them are veteran termite specialists in ground / tenting. No sub contracting of work, all worked performed by in-house technicians. Also, Pest Tech warranty the work / ground and tenting for five years after the initial treatment. Do not use this company. Pest Tech tented my Honolulu home for termites. The workers failed to seal the tent properly and some of the gas leaked out. The escaped poison ruined about 60 sq. ft. of mature garden plants that had survived tenting for over 30 tears. See pix. Also, we don't know how much gas leaked, so we don't know how effective the termite treatment was. After several calls and emails, Kale from Pest Tech finally arrived to review the damage. He took pix and said he would get back to me. That was over a month ago and there's been no response from PT. read more

Our house was fumigated by Peat Tech and the process was streamlined, starting with the sales rep., Sean Chavez. He was knowledgeable and checked in with us until the day of the fumigation, and during the process. He made sure we were informed of the arrival of the fumigation crew and the eventual removal of the tent, and the clearance to enter. The fumigation lead was Irvin. He was thorough and made sure the house was prepare for the fumigation. The entire crew was very polite. It has been awhile since we have had our house fumigated. We were pleasantly surprised at the continual contact to make sure we knew what was happening. Thank you Sean and crew for making the fumigation less stressful. We had our tenting done in August and our salesperson was Dennis Mijo. He went over and beyond. My dad is in his late 90's and expects companies to provide nothing but excellent service. And my dad's house is not a typical standard home. Lots of obstacles and nuances. Dennis sacrificed his Saturday to be at the house when the tenting took place and made sure that the instructions from my dad were followed to a tee. It was a very hot day and he even put my dad in his car with the a/c running so that my dad was able to watch in comfort. He was very patient with my dad and made sure everything was done as my dad requested. Even the worker's were so considerate and accommodating towards my dad. They listened to all of his concerns and followed my dad's instructions. At times it was a bit much but the worker's kept their cool and were respectful at all times. The supervisor, Cory, was also very patient and understanding. Knowing how particular my dad was, he made sure that everything was done as specified. The results of the tenting was even better. Lots of dead critters including 3 types of lizards. My dad was very happy with the entire job. Dennis who went the extra, extra, extra mile to make sure my dad was satisfied with the work. Cory, who displayed professionalism and patience. And the tenting crew who all maintained a pleasant attitude and respect towards my dad. Excellent all around. This was the first time in over 25 years that we had our Kaneohe house tented for dry wood termites. I was worried about my monier tile roof, my solar panels and PV panels. Joe Chong helped us to prepare for the tenting and explained the whole process to us and answered all our questions. Everyone was professional and courteous. Villami and his crew were very careful about my roof and panels and they did their best to minimize any damage. I was there the whole time and saw how they set up the tent, added the gas, and took down the tent and Pedro notified me once it was all clear for us to come back into the house. I don't believe there was any damage done on my roof. I hope we don't have to go thru this again but it was nice knowing that we had people that took care of my house and did a great job. My in-laws got their home fumigated by Pest Tech yesterday. I'm not the home owner, but I live here and had to experience the frustration my in-laws had to experience. We went with this company because one of the guys who work here worked at the company who fumigated this house years ago. Guy Matsumoto is good....he worked with a different company that fumigated the house years ago. However, this new company he works for, Pest Tech is unprofessional. We would give this place zero stars if possible. The problem with this company is their timing, lack of promptness, and lack of communication. They say they'll do one thing and not deliver their word. They don't take accountability for their mistakes and point the finger at each other when there's a problem. As customers of a home fumigation, we have to arrange accommodations elsewhere. It's a process for us to find a place to stay, pack our necessities, travel to our overnight accommodations. There's a lot of time and additional costs of a home fumigation customer on top of the service already being paid for. They said they would be here between 12pm-3pm to tent the house. They came on time to tent the house, but they have a separate sprayer (to spray the perimeter of the house) who came late. The sprayer came 2 hours later than they had scheduled. First they said the sprayer will be here in 20 minutes....than another 20 minutes.....and that turned into 1 hour....almost 2 hours! Apparently, the sprayer was spraying another house in Kapolei. This was a problem because the house was already tented, but my in-laws had to wait outside in the heat and the sun it was hot. Mind you, my in-laws or older (70s and 80s in age) They had to wait in their car with the AC on......they thought they needed to be here to lock up, but they didn't need to be there. That was never communicated with them....They were tired & uncomfortable..........and they waited for nothing. They didn't communicate that with them at all. The sprayer is the one who said my in-laws didn't have to be there. That's time and energy wasted for my in-laws. They said they will text the next day between 4 - 6 pm to let us know it's safe to return. However, nobody called or texted. We can't call the office because they're closed. We had to call our sales rep, Guy Matsumoto, and he said it should be safe for us to enter our home between 5pm and 6pm. It's actually not even his role to tell us that because that's wasn't his responsibility. Our sales rep called the manager to find out who is responsible to text us the "all clear" to go home. They kept saying they don't know who the "clearer" is and had to find out who was responsible for texting us. We finally received a text at 7pm from Pedro, the "clearer" who was supposed to let us know when it's safe for re-entry of our home. At this time, we're already in our home because our sales rep said it was ok. Pedro finally called at night to apologize to my in-laws, but it was too late. Even though Pedro apologized, it wasn't enough to ease the frustration and anger of my in-laws. We just needed to know that it was SAFE to re-enter our home. That's all we needed to know. It's uncomfortable having to stay somewhere else overnight. We were all tired and ready to go home. Lots of frustration. We would not recommend this company due to their lack of communication, accountability, customer service, and professionalism...... they lack the basic foundations of a proper business. They aren't worth the money and definitely not worth the headache. read more

Also took the time to show me the nesting areas, and educate me on how over the counter traps and sprays were only moving the colony around, but not eliminating them. Their price is reasonable. They sub contract from Kilauea Pest. No communication from them. Or Kilauea. I forgot to remove my orchid plants (2) small ones from my walkway. I know it's my responsibility, but c'mon, they could have just placed them outside the tent. Plants died. Also, they removed the tent at 1100am. Fireman tells me between 2&6pm. I call and they tell me 4&6pm. C'mon! Let's get it straight. No communication after that. I boarded my dog so I needed a specific time or at least somewhere close. Nothing. Finally the guys comes at 530pm. Yeah it within the time limit, but have some communication. Call or text me that they'll be there at about what time. 6hrs 30min later in my house. They call me for reschedule for January 2022, waiting for another 4 hour window and cleaned up for the cabinet for nothing. No show. It's typical a contractor. No show. I want to preface this review by saying that I didn't get to use a service by this company; this review is solely based on their amazing customer service. I noticed some new termite droppings in my house and decided to get an exterminator to come check it out. I contacted Pest Tech only because of the stellar reviews they had here. I can now say from first hand experience that this company is the real deal. One of the exterminators came over, did a thorough inspection of the area with the droppings, and was able to find exactly where the termites were coming from. It was a tiny single hole that I would've never guessed was from termites. He then went on to explain about the different types of termites and various characteristics of them, specifically drywood termites, which is what we were dealing with. He ended his explanation by telling us that our termite problem was an easy fix that we could do ourselves and explained several ways that we could go about that. All of these reviews I read prior were spot on; only an honest company with integrity would put their clients first and think about what's best for them. Instead of jumping at a sale or booking an easy job, they did what they could to help me save money first. My husband and I are planning to try the DIY remedies that the exterminator told us but if it fails or if we have any other pest problem, Pest Tech is the only company I will be calling from now on. Our bathroom was used by the worker(s) who left shoe marks on the floor and left the toilet seat up with some pee on the toilet rim. The thought of strangers using our bathroom is very offending to say the least. On top of that some plants and pet food needed to be discarded because they put the tent where they said they would not which meant redoing our garden which was nurtured for years and buying the pet food and treats to replace the contaminated ones. I hope they can train their workers to respect others' property but I have read similar complaints so you'd need to watch the workers when they are installing and removing the tent yourself, but it should not be our job to monitor them! If I could leave less than a star I would. Property manager contracted Pest Tech Hawaii to tent/fumigate our townhomes for termites and at this point I think it would have been better to set the fumes off myself and chance the poisoning. The workers left my backyard, which I had just got done renovating, putting in long hours of work and hundreds of dollars to finish. When I got home there were concrete edging pieces that were just pulled out from the perimeter and thrown on to my succulent garden. If I had known that they were just going to pull out the concrete edging, I would have just waited for Pest Tech to come tent our building first before I began renovating. The slabs were then thrown on to my plants, which bent it towards the ground. There was another succulent that a slab was thrown on to completely. Little leaves were just barely poking out from under the slab. My entire section of my succulent planter was wrecked! There are so many other places to have put the slabs. My husband was also home initially to meet the representative so at any time someone could have mentioned "eh brah, you gotta move the slabs" We would have been so accommodating. So pilau. How would the workers feel if someone came into their home and did that to their yard. So very disrespectful to do that to a local family. I would rather have a million geckos released into my home to eat the termites one by one than to recommend Pest Tech Hawaii to other people. My garden would not be wrecked. read more

Neighbor used them to tent their house and we share a common area with a gate which Pest Tech left wide open. With how they tented the house, the gate could not be closed, which was a safety concern. I placed a small rock at the bottom of the gate to keep it closed for security and they nearly took the gate off the hinges trying to come back in. I met the owner of the company in WalMart today and can't say enough good about him. I explained that I just moved into a place and have had two treatments in 3 weeks with another company and am still seeing roaches!! I had a ton of questions and have been doing my homework reading about specific approaches to German cockroaches and just spent $200 on professional grade gels, powders, and baits to do it myself since the other company had been unsuccessful. He gave me all the tips on how to use my own stuff and never tried to sway me to use his company. I also had to get it out of him that he has a degree in this stuff and is the owner of the company Super humble, super helpful, and super competent and I am not even a customer. Recently noticing a growing insect issue at my home, we wanted an exterminator company to help us control our problem asap! We originally contacted numerous companies around Hawaii and Pest Tech was the first to return our inquiry with an estimate (in a matter of a few hours too). We ended up going with them based on how quickly they came with an estimate (another said company took a week just to call us back) and their price was cheaper than the quotes we had at the time. I had boxes I purchased from Kamaaina. All the companies I called wanted to replace my rodent boxes for a fee of course... and wanted more money for the service I was getting before. This company must have most of Kamaaina clients. They are very reasonable and used my rodent boxes I already purchased. I don't know why the other companies would want to replace the boxes. Decided to use this company for roaches and ants and whatever they're using doesn't work. I was told that in about a week or so the insects will eat what's in the hinges of my cabinets and should slowly disappear. Ok so we waited a week. I still had ants. And still had roaches. So we called them and scheduled a follow up. They came out here again and did their thing. Now another week later I still have ants. And I still have roaches. I'm going to give up and find another company. One of the companies we use at my work place did their baiting once and we stopped seeing roaches. They didn't need to spray and it was safe to eat in the area immediately. I'm not a slob. I clean and vacuum. I try not to have ANY crumbs on the floor or tables but let's face it in Hawaii it's hard not to see roaches. And I get that. But just having done pest control services I do expect to see less insects. There has been no change at all. Had a flare up of dry wood termites in our cabinets. The inspector came by and it was a great experience where he described the treatment methods and the theory of dry wood termite infestations. The treatment itself was nothing like the inspector explained and when I reached out to him, he did mention that the method was ultimately up to the tech. The explanation seemed reasonable, but it does place doubt in my mind when the sales and treatment process is so different. Both guys did offer for us to give them a call if the treatment was ineffective.
