I have a decent amount of plants in my yard but I wouldn't say it's out of hand. I recently noticed big red ants (heavy big headed ants) outdoors going into my house and more prominently at night to grab whatever crumbs they could find. It got so bad they were going onto my dining table, counters and trash. I reached out to Able Pest Mngmt after a recommendation from a family member and was very pleased with their service. My schedule is so busy so I couldn't meet them in person but they were so helpful. I had someone to assist them into my home. They explained what they were doing and provided great tips and recommendations. They also weren't very pushy about future services which I appreciated. From the time that they treated my house there have been no signs of ants indoors. And rarely outdoors. Cost wise, the initial treatment seems like a lot but it's worth the hassle. I've periodically had a problem with very tiny, little black bugs (maybe from the ant family). An area will be covered with these bugs, they're always dead. Able treated in 2024 then returned because the first product didn't work; the second one did. They came back last week, treated but the bugs returned, so today Ramon treated with several different products. I highly recommend Able Pest Management and their staff. We scheduled a pest treatment for July 3, 2025. The "tech" showed up at 11:26a and left at 11:34a. I realize we have small 2 bedroom apartment approximate size 650 sq ft, I realize it's small but to spend 8 min doing our "treatment" isn't right. Able is one of the costlier pest control companies that tent homes so one would expect professionalism. They sub-contracted the tenting to J and E Pest control. Their employees were rude to my 85 yr old father, bossing him around to move items and citing laws that don't exist. On the day of removal there was no communication of when the tent was removed and when the house would be clear. All communication was initiated by us with numerous phone calls. I've spent the last two weeks of my life moving from one place to another. So many pieces that had to fit together just perfectly in order to keep everything going and to maintain sanity. There's always a piece or two out of place, though, and one of them was fixed by Able Pest Control. I realized that I was required (by my lease) to have a professional flea and tick treatment done. With only two days to go before I turned in the keys I was certain I'd have to scramble to find an agency with an opening. Instead it took exactly one phone call! I was stopped at a light and saw one of their well marked vans in the next lane. Pulled them up on Yelp and saw so many positive reviews, so gave them a call. My luck was good and they would have someone in the area the next day! After I booked the appointment I called two other places to check on pricing. Both had higher prices and no availability. It was an "if Hawaii had a lottery..." sort of day! My technician was set to arrive from 11-1 but called at 10:30 to ask if I could see him early. Yes, please! I contacted Able Pest Management after another company reneged on their contract to fumigate my house claiming, on the day of tenting, that the roof was too steep. I requested a second inspection of the roof by Able Pest Management to make sure that could and would to the job. Both Travis and Catherine were very helpful and the next day James came out and we discussed the roof incline. James assured me that they would do the job. Less than a week later we evacuated the house, again, and the tenting crew set up the tubing for fumigation and covered the house even in a fickle breeze and drizzle. The next day the crew was careful not to damage some native plants at risk near the house when removing the tarps and we were cleared to reenter the house by mid afternoon. All the people at Able Past Management were "Able", professional, and respectful of our property. I had Able Pest come out to our property for the first time. We recently used them for an in-law's home for ant and roach problem and were impressed. I am still impressed with their service. They treated our exterior for ants and will continue to treat every 3 months. Although we didn't see any live ants, the pest control rep Nelson was very thorough and explained how he was going to treat our plants with granules near the exterior walls and spray process. He asked if we needed to treat inside the home, said they normally do the inside for initial treatment. Since we haven't seen any ants in the house, we declined inside treatment. I meant to add to my other review that Able went back to my in-law's home to retreat a spot problem with recurring ants over the front door. No extra charge. They are very responsive. I have been with Able Pest for about a year and a half. They have always provided me with excellent service from day one. There recently had been an increase in ants around our home as well as a rat issue. We've had a couple technicians assist with traps, but the overall issue hasn't decreased. In my last service appointment a different technician was assigned, Nate-- who I must say has proven to be a true representation of what customer service really is! When he came on Thursday, he assessed the whole situation, took the time to discuss what options there were and immediately took the initiative to problem solve in the most effective way. Nate returned to our home again today, as an additional service to again, get to the root of the problems we're experiencing. While I appreciate all of the other technicians that have serviced our home, Nate is highly recommended by my 'ohana and I. He was very thorough, with such an Aloha spirit and very genuine. You don't find a lot of employees who find passion in what they do. Which brings out the natural aspects of complete and true customer service. My condo bldg has a monthly treatment plan with this company and offers individual Units to be treated on the same day that they're on site servicing the bldg. So I contacted them two days prior to coming to our bldg and scheduled my Unit to receive their services. They gave me a timeframe of 11am and 1pm. I asked the Rep who scheduled my appt if she could put in a request that they come to my unit towards the ending of that timeframe. She said she needed to contact me back after speaking with the technician. About half an hour later I receive a call back, stating that she put in it the servicing notes to the technician and documented it on the sign up sheet for my Unit. Fast forward to today, I had to take off of work early to make it home in time. I was able to get home by 12pm and patiently waited. At about 12:35pm I contacted Able Pest and spoke to Courtney (I think that was her name?) to follow up on my Unit being serviced and wanted to ensure I didn't perhaps miss the technician for the day if there wasn't a lot of Units being serviced today. She assured me the the technician was still on site and stated that she sent him a msg. As a new customer I inquired about the process- she stated that they'll come knock on your door and that they also have my phone# on file just in case I didn't answer the door. So I was like oh okay, I just want to make sure I wasn't missing anything as this was my first time signing up. She was like, "oh okay, I gotcha". I thanked her and ended the phone call hoping to get a knock at my door soon. I waited and waited and waited. By 1:45 pm I had to leave and received NO PHONE CALL, no "Sorry we're running behind schedule", NOTHING!!! I'm so glad I didn't waste even more money on this company, when they wasted my time. I will be informing my bldg management and bring this to the monthly board meeting, to suggest that we find a new contract with another more reliable company. read more

They scheduled to see my apartment last Saturday from 12 to 2 and didn't call me until 215 to let me know they're running late. I finally had to leave at 2:45 and they called to reschedule for today between one and three. I called at 3:05 and received an answering machine twice and then finally received a phone call from the owner at 3:20. He promptly demanded to know what happened today not knowing that the appointment was missed and proceeded to raise his voice and insist to be given another chance. Two Saturdays ruined because they seemingly can't keep an appointment. Steer clear, there are a lot of other alternatives out there. This locally owned and operated business is great as they know the needs of kamaaina and our pesky pest problems. Because when you need to get rid of roaches and critters, you need them gone YESTERDAY. Having rentals, time is money and this factor alone is why my family chose and still uses Able. We first called on them in Dec 2009 and not only were they the most affordable (called 2 other local companies and 1 national and Able was $100 cheaper than all of them), but they were also the most available. They came the day after we called for pricing, versus having to wait 3 days or even a week for the others to get the initial treatment. Whats nice is that they stand behind their work with a generous 30 warranty. If after 10 days of initial treatment you see critters, give them a call and they'll retreat with no charge. But mainly too, the staff is super professional. They are quick to return calls and take the time to explain and cater to your specific needs. And the technicians go above and beyond just regular service. One came to treat only 1 unit, but a tenant asked the tech to come and spot treat hers as critters were reappearing (Able also treated that unit) and the guy did it with no charge, even though it was 4 months out of the warranty date. Nice! So to recap: Pros: -Very affordable and competitve pricing -Local company that knows how to address local needs -Professional, attentive and excellent customer service with office and field staff Cons: -Although they make every effort to address your needs as quickly as possible, they are busy. So I'd have to say scheduling. In "emergency" situations or initial treatments they take you right away. If it's a respray or upkeep spraying/treatment, you're scheduled after the more urgent ones. read more
