This location used to have a good pet cremation service, but it is not the same place. The staff are the same and are okay, but the entire business is predatory and heartless. We had to make a decision for our cat suddenly, and chose to take her remains here, in spite of the fact it has been bought out by a conglomeration, which was a terrible mistake. We were hoping to get a matching urn for our other cat who'd passed, which they said they could do, but were unable to do so when we got there. It's now owned by a huge Canadian company, and they've raised their prices to almost $400 for a cat cremation, which only came with a velvet bag, 'though they do have urns. There used to be a private mourning room, where you could say goodbye to your pet, but the new owners decided that wasn't very important, and put in a new break room for the employees there instead, without replacing it. The business was sold twice, and the employees were originally told by the people who bought the crematorium from the original owners, that they would leave it a family run business, which they knew was important to them. They lied, and sold it out to 'Gateway,' which is who owns it now. We learned none of this before going, and were done with the paperwork and running the payment, before we found out. It was really my mother's cat, and she had to say goodbye to her in the BATHROOM! The employees are not happy, and the service is not the cost or caring you may be expecting, if you went here before. Careless, cold owners and almost a $300 increase in cost! I strongly recommend against going here. When you have lost a loved one, this is not the kind of experience you will want, on top of all the grief and decisions you must make in such a fragile moment. I am beyond-words-angry at what this place has become and what it has done to us. We've been through so much with her death, to end it like this was the worst. When we finally had to go, my mother kissed her one last time and had to say 'I'm sorry,' before leaving her there with them. I would never wish the experience on anyone this place gave us, even if I hated them very badly. What they are doing here, to the employees and to the humans who bring their pets here to say goodbye, is not right. There are still family mortuaries who won't overcharge you and deprive you of the right to say goodbye to your pet. It is not okay what they have done to this place, and what they have let it become. Do not go to Lasting Paws 'Memorial Services' if you need to say goodbye to your pet. There are better, more caring services available. read more

I had an exceptionally good experience with the folks at pet cremation services and I am so grateful. They were empathic and kind without being sappy or trite, which is not easy to do. They answered all my questions, and then more questions, and even made last minute arrangements for me to be able to witness my dog's cremation process, which is not something I knew was an option nor something I knew I needed to do until it was happening. I lost my little dog after 15.5 amazing, best thing that will ever happen to me years together. I hadn't personally been out to this part of Wheat Ridge before but it was a lovely drive. You may park on the street or in the lot where they have five or six available spots. When I came in to pick up our Bella the front desk woman was extremely kind. Small couch to sit on, bathroom, some literature on grieving and support groups, and a small wall with various urns displayed. Before picking her up my local vet suggested this company. They deal with them for various pickups and gave me the number for Pet Cremation Services. Although it was past business hours PCS walked me through the process and came and picked up our late pup. A small amount of paperwork and in just a few days we were able to pick up the ashes. No one wants to deal with a business or event like this. I have had several family deaths and Pet Cremation Services treated the entire process as if I myself were in need of Cremation. Extremely professional and sympathetic. Prices quite reasonable I thought and while they offer pickup we chose to make the drive up from castle rock. I very highly recommend for helping get through a most difficult time. Today we had to say goodbye to our other fur baby; an Aussie/border collie mix. We again trusted our loved one to the gentle care of PCS. So...we had such a positive experience with this company 3.5 years ago that I didn't hesitate to go back to them again. From the very start this time, it was clear that the whole "family business" and "personal care" aspect that led me to do business with them in the first place just no longer exists. Last time they responded personally to my inquiry. This time I got a very clinical response...and I didn't hear back from them for almost a week telling me that I couldn't tell them when I wanted to come in...I had to call them and book a specific time that worked for them. Luckily, the folks at the Wheatridge office, when I got to talk to them in person, were very compassionate and easy to work with. They are doing curbside drop off and pick up now, so there is no room where you can say goodbye to your pet anymore. I explained at drop-off that I work 45 miles from their office, and that I leave for work an hour before they open and don't get off of work until a full hour after they close. They called today around 1 to say that we could come pick up. However, the young man I talked with was totally unwilling to be flexible in times. I had asked if I could come at 2 and he said no, 2:30 was the earliest possible time. I had to rearrange our family plans...luckily, one of my adult children was off work today and was able to help by taking care of the 3 pm appointment that was made 8 weeks ago so I could go up to Wheatridge. Once I got to the office, again, the employee there was very kind. I didn't even have to call, they came out as soon as they saw me pull in. So...yes, I would still use them. With hesitation. For most people, their services will mean having to take 2 days off work. I understand that they have expanded...that they now own crematoriums in Centennial and Fort Collins, too. It seems they have a central answering service dealing with their phone and email contact. Maybe the owners want those people to be hard nosed and very business-like. Maybe they feel like they need someone to be the bad guy for them. I will say, though, that, back in 2018, I contacted three different companies. Two were located closer to my home than Pet Cremation Services. I chose them because of the personal and compassionate response I got there from my very first email to them. Linda and Jim were opening their location in Centennial in early May. They were not even finished with construction on their front lobby. Yet, there I was with a sad situation needing a cremation. In spite of everything, they opened their doors for me and helped me in my difficult situation. They were so understanding and kind. We are so happy we found Linda and Jim with Pet Cremation Service. Linda and Jim were both so helpful. They have pets also and fully appreciate what a terrible tragedy we feel. We left our girl with them on Friday with cremation planned for Tuesday. Of course, she had to be frozen. So, on Tuesday well before we arrived, they got her out of the freezer to warm up for us. Her sweet little ears were warm and flexible. Her body was warm on the outside. They gave us all the time we needed to hold her and tell her how much we love her. Then, we watched her put in the oven. Everyone needs different things and they made sure we got what we wanted and needed. Linda and Jim were both totally supportive and so very kind. It really doesn't get any better than this. They are both very good at being gentle and making this as easy as possible. We will never forget them. I recently lost my dog Nugget unexpectedly and had been using Pet Cremation Services for years. They are the most compassionate, caring and understanding staff ever. The staff gently picked up Nugget out of my car and took him inside. I had requested a private witness cremation and from the time of making the arraignments to picking him up, there never was any pressure to purchase a urn etc. The day of the cremation that morning Nugget was placed in a room where I could say my good byes and be with him one last time. Granted a witness cremation is not easy and not for everyone but for me it peace. About any hour and half later I was called to say that he could be picked up. This place is amazing. The staff are so gentle with your furry loved one. They are caring, kind, and treat your special friend just as you would want them to be treated, with dignity, respect, and a showing of kindness. I took my dog, Skruffy, to them, if you make an appointment, they allow you to see that your best friend is the only one in the crematorium. This will be a bit morbid, but they have a great amount of urns to look at and choose from. Picture box urns, metallic urns, stone urns. This should be the only place you take your pet for that final moment. One thing I purchased was a clay paw print. They put the paw of your pet into a clay mold, then you take it home, bake it in the over for a bit, and you have another type of permanent memento of you loved one. Her quality of life had severely declined. The DDFL contracts cremation services to Pet Cremation Services. I received my cat's ashes back in seven days with a certificate of cremation. Her urn came in a beautiful velvet burgundy bag which said "Until We Meet At The Rainbow Bridge." This means so much to me and made a sad moment a little easier. I highly recommend Pet Cremation Services. When our dog Vegas passed away peacefully in his sleep, we called to discuss our options. We were able to schedule a private witness cremation. This was so important to me to be there with my best friend until the very end. We were able to see him being placed into the crematory and were able to have his ashes returned to us the same day at no extra cost. This service meant so much to me because I was always curious after working for veterinarians and wondering what was done for the body... We can't say enough good things about the service we received from Pet Cremation Services when we lost our dog and best friend in December. We were just devastated and the folks there were extremely kind, compassionate and professional. They contacted us prior to arrival to gather our information so that everything would be ready when we arrived. When we pulled up, a nice lady came out to help us. She was extremely compassionate, kind and gentle in the transfer and assured us they would take good care of our boy...and they did. A few days later, we received a call advising us he was ready to come home. Again, when we arrived, they were ready and came out with him and the mementos we'd requested. It was clear they understood the pain of losing a pet family member and did everything they could to ease the pain and burden of having to say goodbye. I paid less for a private creamation of Stu than I did for my precious boxer, December, over a decade ago. Her creamation was also a communal one. I think it is so generous of them to make it financially possible for people who love their animals to make final arrangements that provide closure for them. So glad I found them. A couple of things for you to consider going forward. The last cremation service I used, shaving of the fur was automatically done as part of the process. As I asked for this TWICE and was told it could be done, how am I to know that it isn't a standard process for your company? John knew he forgot to write it down when I asked for the fur when I picked up the ashes. His excuse was that with the "rush service" I paid for they must have missed it. What I have now received from your company is 2 separate excuses. What I wanted, and what I think most people want. Is simply for you to take responsibility for your mistake. You can't fix it, I get that, but what you can do is apologize without the excuses. Take that responsibility. As for your response, after reading it I changed the 2 star rating to a 1 star. read more

Giving half the stars available because the cremation for my first cat in Sept. was amazing (I sent them Harry & David treats afterwards) but the cremation for my second cat in Dec. was completely messed up. I did a witnessed cremation with paw prints for both. First time I arrived at 830a per their written instructions and the tech did paw prints with me and I had a good long time to spend with my furbaby and the cremation techs were fabulous, letting me be present for every single part. Second time I arrived at 830a and the guy at the front desk said I was early and after a few minutes I told him the paper said to be there at 830a to do paw prints. He said the tech had already done the prints which weren't the feet I wanted and then he proceeded to charge me for a second ink set. That is wrong! And the tech didn't seem to know the paper they give out said that. I also only had 10 mins with him because of their mistake. Also wrong! The cremation technician let me watch him put my furbaby in the cremation oven but then didn't come get me to watch him sweep it out like the technician did on my first one. I feel they need much more consistent training because people going there for the first time will have no idea what to ask or expect, and I wouldn't want them to have the second experience I had. read more

This company is amazing!!!! I lost my sweet kitty back in December and she was my entire world. I was a mess when I brought her into their facility. They had a private viewing room that they sat me in with Peaches and I was able to say my final goodbyes and not hurry. They talked me through the entire process and I was relieved at how well they took care of us. Even in death they took very good care of Peaches. They made me a clay paw that looked so good and an ink paw that I made into a tattoo of her little foot. I highly recommend this company. They are friendly and compassionate. I was looking for a nice dignified close to home cremation service for my beloved dog, I found PCS to be exactly what I needed, and they were very willing to let me witness the whole process that I just had a personal need to be a witness to companion my pet to the final end, for my own grief and closure. The cost was great, they were so kind, unrushed, empathic, and understanding. I was so happy and satisfied I told them I wanted all my friends with pets to know they exist, as well as my vet who wanted to send me several hours away to a place that was more expensive and I where I couldn't participate. I loved the velvet pouch they provided for her, and they have a nice selection of urns, but I wish there were more,... however the waiting room is a bit small for the busy business they have (No surprise) and the urn display is one wall so they are a bit limited due to that. They provided a lovely little certificate of cremation, a nice round tin and what I know was very ethical, dignified, professional and compassionate care to both her and me the entire time. They put an ID tag with a number in the chamber with her and it stays with the remains throughout the process to keep her separate and identified. I was highly impressed, I know that funeral service facilities do that for humans now as a standard of care, but unaware pet crematories did this too for pets. I really can't recommend them enough, they made a worrisome process go very smoothly and provided closure by allowing me to have a bit of time to say good by as well before her cremation. I am glad to know they are there, I have another older beloved dog and I will return when that time comes. They are also a family run business who have pets of their own. read more

I have used pet crematories before but none were as good as "Pet Cremation Service". When I arrived with my "Best Little Buddy" I first filled out some quick paper work then was shown a number tag that stays with the pet throughout the process. When I was done with the paper work I brought my Little Buddy in and took him to a private area and put him on a table that had blankets and a pillow on it. Very nice! It was all fast and very low keyed and my Little Buddy was ready to be picked up in less than 24 hours after I dropped him off. I don't know the name of the lady that was behind the counter when I came in but she was very nice as was the gentleman there when I picked up my L/B. I definitely highly recommend Pet Cremations Services. For the situation that you are dealing with they are as good of a service as you can get. I don't plan on ever using this service again but if I ever needed to I wouldn't hesitate to use PCS again and will continue to recommend them. Thank you all at PCS, I appreciate you! read more
