I think I find my new pet store. The layout very weird, when you first walk in you think is small but there a door next to counter that leads to the whole other side. Very big selection. If he does not have it, he will order it for you. His prices are the best. Way better than department pet stores. Staff is nice and very helpful and knowledgeable. I had some major pet issues recently and Pet Delight was able to help me out. Problem number one was my gf's finicky cat who only eats Hill's Science Diet cat food. Problem number two was the family of Raccoon's that had moved into the attic of the house that I am renting. Problem number three was the cat who moved into the hood of my car while I was solving problem's number one and number two. Pet Delight sell's a variety of everything for cat's and dog's, and traps for people who need to remove critter's from their attic's. The owner of the store was very patient and showed me how to bait the trap, and who to call once I trapped the bandit's. I asked for advice on how to remove the stray cat that was under my hood. I used to live nearby but even though it's a bit further from me, I still drop by this store for random pet needs. The layout is a bit claustrophobic with two narrow aisles chockfull of pet goods. It looks like there isn't much but right by the cashier, there's a door that leads to a huge warehouse with anything and everything you could imagine. Prices on dog food are competitive, though they push their a particular brand that's even cheaper and pet-healthy. The guys that run this place will help guide you if you don't know what you want/need. They really know their stuff. My dog loves coming here, though be warned, there's lots of treats at doggie eye level by the cash register. They may decide that the treats are theirs and go nuts. So keep an eye on your pet, as last time, my dog decided to break from protocol of behaving and grab a treat as a snack. read more

Absolutely amazing place. Their selections rival the chain stores. They have great food for all animals and not just your typical pet food. They have brands that you have never heard of and is 100 times better than the food you may alreadt be feeding your pets. The staff is pleasant and very knowledgeable. Prices are the best anywhere. I have yet to find a location with similar low prices. I dont mind taking the 30 to 40 minute drive there. They also redid the additional section which makes it very consumer friendly. I find this place to be very helpful and friendly when I go here for my cat food,litter and liners. Monthly I walk into this location, grab a crap load of cat supplies like some lonely old lady and bring it to the counter. The owner and cashier lady is typical Brooklyn Italian, which I love. She yells to the back, "SOMEONE ANSWER THE PHONE IM BUSY UP HERE, JESUS" The prices are comparable to places like Petco, Target and other places you would buy animal supplies, but they are a small family business and I love supporting those, especially in these parts of Brooklyn that are still old school in many parts. and unlike what the pervious post said, it is NOT called Pet DOG Delight. Best pet store in NYC. I've been coming here for years and this is as good as it gets. The owner knows all there is to know about pets. He's given us so many great recommendations on products and food that we've saved money in vet bills. One of my dogs had such bad skin allergies that she needed bi-monthly cortisone shots for relief. I happened to mention it to the owner, and he recommended a shampoo that I'd never heard of called "No Itchy, No Scratchy" and my dog hasn't needed a shot since! The staff here are super very friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to find what you need and always offer to carry items to your car. One reason is because Pet Delight was for a long time the only local source for Health Extension dog food, which brings up another point: while the store is very cramped, the warehouse behind it is huge. Chances are, if you don't see it in front, Jeff (the owner) has got a palette of it in back. I've got several excellent pet stores much closer to me than Pet Delight, like VInnie's, but I do my big purchases at Pet Delight for the prices, selection, ease of parking and the friendliness. Great store great staff. Travel from Riverdale to buy my teddy bear dog healthy extension dog food and to pick Jeff's brain :) My baby had hot spot paw on her back paw. Took her to vet. $150 for them to clean the wound, antibacterial spray and the cone. I was horrified when she came down with hot spot paw on her front paw 3 weeks later. I went whining :) to Jeff and he sold me a $6.47 bottle of "sulfodene". The infection cleared up in 2 days. No cone, no mess all you need is a q-tip. Thank you Jeff and my baby thanks you. read more

While I was there, the owner's assistant was busy selling a muzzle to the owner of an 8-month pitbull, directly in front of the cash register. "Does your dog bite?" I asked. "No - he's spiteful." Another customer and I explained that puppies... aren't spiteful. Meanwhile, the puppy hyperventilated because wearing a muzzle is terrifying, and the dog, store assistant and owner each crashed into me in their efforts to restrain the panicked animal.
