After a friend's recommendation, I decided to try this vet about a month ago. First, when I called in the morning they were able to fit me in same day which was amazing already because my cat had some extremely concerning symptoms. The staff was very friendly and caring. Dr.Syed was extremely thorough, compassionate and took A LOT of time answering all of my questions, and explained everything that was going on to me. Despite having a bad diagnosis for my cat, I felt very educated and heard 100% by the doctor. I never felt rushed, and appreciated his honesty and advice. Side note-They are also extremely reasonable on pricing- for the exam, basic bloodwork(blood sugar test/kidney test), an x-ray and meds was only around $250. Anywhere else around would have easily cost WAY more then that. I HIGHLY recommend this office and they definitely have made a loyal customer out of me. read more

Just came here to say that the Pet Doctor did a wonderful job with my dogs teeth cleaning. He also had one small tooth extracted. I was a nervous wreck and they took such great care of him. He had a large back tooth that was infected (had to take antibiotics prior) and was completely brown. I thought it was dead and would have to be pulled. But they saved it! And now it's completely white. His teeth look incredible, I had no idea they could look this good. read more

I am so glad I found this place for my parents 80lb Flat Coated Retriever. Thanks to the great reviews on here we decided to give it a try. OMG. The staff on the other end were so pleasant to talk to and were able to get my dog in weeks earlier then any vet around the area! I have a senior Border Collie that has been having some serious mobility issues. He has been very lethargic and having trouble going up and down the stairs. We knew we had to get him in to see the vet and boy are we glad we did. This was our first time taking our boy to see Dr. Syed. I took my 3 year old, 40 pound dog to see the Pet Doctor for the first time tonight and we absolutely will not be back. My first impressions of the practice should have been enough for me to know how the appointment would go, but I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt after reading many positive reviews. To begin, my dog and I were brought to a back storage room to sit and wait because the lobby was already full of other animals waiting for their appointment. After quickly filling out her paperwork, we proceeded to wait 90+ minutes after our schedule appointment time to be called back and seen by the doctor. My dog was noticeably anxious after waiting in the storage room for so long, but she is ordinarily a quiet, patient and very well behaved girl. As soon as the tech put her on the table, she tightly held my dog in a headlock position before even observing her to see how she would behave. The doctor then entered the room and greeted us by saying "thank you my girls for waiting so patiently for me." In my opinion; that's a very unprofessional way to greet new patients. He never introduced himself or asked a single question about my pet. He then proceeded to to "hug" my dog, before giving her a chance to smell or greet him, again making her extremely uncomfortable. After very aggressively giving her 2 shots, he called in a second assistant to help hold my 40 pound dog still so he could cut her nails. I am aware she does not enjoy getting her nails cut, however no effort was made to make her feel comfortable with the situation. They then proceeded to muzzle her to "help her calm down". They try to control animals with physical force rather than helping them to understand what is going on. After cutting (2) of her nails, I could not watch them manhandle her and listen to her yelp and cry any longer and I begged him to stop. I was in tears in the examine room witnessing the way my pet was being treated, and when I voiced my concern I was asked to sit down and told "all dogs behave this way." My dog has never been this anxious and overwhelmed in all the time I've had her. I worked so hard for a year to gain her trust and they did not take one minute to get to know either of us before violently and aggressively performing a routine exam on her. I absolutely cannot imagine how they would handle larger or misbehaved animals. I would be terrified to leave my pet here for a surgery and I absolutely would never recommend anyone who cares for their pets well-being to take them to this practice. Both my dog and myself had a terrible, terrible experience. read more

Our dog was very sick and hadn't eaten in a few days, so I called first thing in the morning on a Monday and they got her right in. She had cancer and it was in multiple spots, we had caught it too late. Dr. Syed was extremely compassionate and I will never go anywhere else. We have another pet that has a thyroid issue and we will definitely be taking her to Dr. Syed. I can't even express how grateful we were to him and his wonderful staff. I was in the market for a new vet for my 15 year old cat. I researched a couple places that were close to me and decided to choose Pet Doctor based on the Google reviews. I brought my two young children (22 months and 3.5 years) with me to the appointment since they have never had the experience of going to the vet. We did wait about one hour in the waiting room but my kids were preoccupied by all of the other dogs and cats coming in. Once we got into the exam room, Dr. Syed came in and apologized for the wait (which wasn't even a big deal to me). He proceeded with examining my cat and also explaining to my children what he is doing. He cleaned out my cats ears, clipped her nails and put some eye drops in her eyes. Dr. Syed was very gentle and kind. He did not try to sell me anything but did make a recommendation on getting her teeth cleaned. I thought everything went well and the price was reasonable. This is hands-down the best vet I've visited after searching for a while in the Sterling Heights area. They are very reasonably priced and the Doctor is always so sweet to my dog even though she is not particularly nice back to him. They take their time with each appointment so you never leave with questions or feel ignored, although this sometimes causes appointments to start late toward the end of the day. In all my years I have never met such a money grubbing doctor like this guy before his secretaries upfront are nothing but rude belittling and downright disgusting to customers be aware you will wait an hour to an hour and a half after your appointment time to be seen my dogs knee came out of place one day I called him because he told me any emergencies to always call him instead of taking my dog to an emergency room I had always known that he up charge me for most of the medication $40-$50 more than what everyone else is selling it I did not call him that day for an emergency every place I called was at capacity or closed so I called him 20 minutes before closing nobody answered I called again and nobody answered my dog was screaming in pain from his knee at the time I didn't know it was his knee I thought maybe something worse I panicked because no one was available so I took my dog and took him to the doctors office I walk in and the doctor is sitting on the waiting room chair with one of his secretary I told him my situation and everything that is going on and how no one is available at that moment he looked at me and said I'm relaxing right now I don't wanna do anything I asked him what should I do then no one's available everyone's at capacity he said look at the way I'm dressed im relaxed about to leave I said OK you're his doctor what should I do you told me Any emergencies bring him to you no matter what time his secretary looked at me and started laughing very loudly looked up at the clock and said you don't understand what time it is I looked back at the doctor and said my dogs in the car screaming what should I do again he said I don't know I'm relaxing give him a Vicodin WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been to this doctor so many times he has price gouge me over $50-$60 more for every medication every shot and the first time I have an emergency he does this oh when I took my file to go to another doctor his secretary had wrote down on a piece of paper I leave and don't like to wait for my appointment that's because the one time I left my appointment was at 1:30 and I was still sitting in the parking lot at 3:45 all the good reviews for the doctor it's because no one has truly put him to the test I seen him toss his office cats off the desk in a very violent way one time at closing this guy does not care about your pets people are just blinded by how cheap he is in reality LOL he's actually Price gouging read more

But, the young red headed office worker has a very short fuse, was angry and forceful with my little pet on more than one visit. Dr. Syed is the most supportive and compassionate vet. He is very knowledgeable and treats animals exactly how we feel for our furry pets, as a part of our family. My cat was very sick, had taken her to an emergency room but needed to follow up with my vet. Hours were cut at many vet offices but Dr Syed was so understanding in fitting her in to his busy schedule. He is just what she needed. He gave fluids, more antibiotics, expressed her bladder and found a serious infection. We ended up coming in several times for more fluids and antibiotics until the infection finally cleared. It took 2 weeks of hand feeding and coming in for help but he knew exactly what to do, he also prayed for her which I know helped a lot. He is truly a wonderful person as well as vet. His staff is great too. And his prices are surprisingly low for everything he does. Thank you very much Dr Syed for healing my cat Jinger. She is doing so well now.
