Took my 2 year old in to have her have a routine spading and she died. We gave her the testing needed before hand and Molly was in excellent health. We dropped her off to have the spading done and they wanted to keep her overnight. They called at 6:00pm and said everything was fine. Then at 1:00 am they left a voice mail and said she died! She was a Bermise/Goldendoodle. I didn't understand where a routine surgery could have gone so wrong? From she is fine to she died! I had paid for the surgery and they didn't offer anything back for their incompetence! I will never take an animal to this vet again! read more

We tik our three dogs there for vacinstions. We were told ask three dogs had a heart mumur. They called repeatedly to have exhausted dig evaluated by a specialist. Nearly $500 per dog. Two of the dogs have since been seen by other vets, who said they did not have a heart mumur. I feel they were trying to scam us into expensive diagnostics. read more

THIS PLACE DOES NOT HAVE AN AVIAN VET. (And they will lie to you and say they treat birds. They have absolutely NO knowledge on birds and will take your money for tests and never get back to you). I would give 0 stars if I could. Last friday I took my parakeet Bowie to Pet Medical Center in Winona. I spoke to a receptionist who told me they had a bird specialist and made me feel very excited to bring my babies there. When I got to the appointment they "bird specialist" told me that she actually wasn't a specialist and told me what "could" be wrong with Bowie. She proceeded to Google search things in front of me. That was my first red flag... I could have googled what was wrong with him.. but she did have enough basic knowledge to figure out what could be wrong and told me how to change things at home. We ran a few tests and she said they would have the results by the following Tuesday and will get back to me then. I go home and Isolate Bowie and my other parakeet Shiloh, who also had the same enlarged abdomen so I knew they both had the same thing. Tuesday comes and I received no phone call. I call Wednesday and a receptionist said they got the results that morning and she'd have the vet call me back to talk about it. No phone call. I call the next day and was told the vet wasn't available and would call me the next day... again no phone call. I called Thursday to ask what was going on and expressed how frustrated I was that no one is getting back to me on the results. (If the results came back positive for a specific infection they would have needed antibiotics, but if given the antibiotics if it's not that specific infection it would have caused more harm. So they needed the results before giving the antibiotics) they apologized and said the vet would get back to me asap. No phone call. Friday I call again and they had the vet talk to me finally. (A week after I came in with Bowie). At this time Bowie and Shiloh had improved significantly and I thought they were getting better. I talked to the vet and one test came back negative and they were waiting on one more test. She said that test usually takes a week. (Which she didn't tell me to begin with). She said they will have that test back by monday for sure (yesterday) and would call me back then. Since then Bowie and Shiloh went from looking 100% better to declining significantly within 24hours. I still have no idea what was wrong with them or what else I could have done to help them. Now it's Tuesday and my babies are dead and the vet didn't call me...again. I can't help but wonder if those antibiotics would have saved my babies. I'm so mad at Pet Medical Center and will never be returning. read more

I'm posting this review in hopes that other families might not have to be traumatized the way we have been! Last year, our dog went in for a routine surgery and died after she was negligently given too much morphine. Even the doctor couldn't remember how much she had given post op and had to ask a tech. They messaged my fiancee a little after noon that day to say surgury went well and she was waking up. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to us at the time, the vet then gave her another full dose of morphine. This should have never happened. She was unresponsive when my fiancee went to go pick her up, her tongue was hanging out, and she was cold. When expressing concern, we were promised that the emergency vet would be on call and would come in if there were any issues. They knew she was critical. The doctor said to call at 9 pm if she was still not awake. They rolled her out to our vehicle on a cart, unresponsive, and she had to be lifted by 3 staff members. Then, when we called not even 2 hours later to notify them that her breathing had changed, the vet said that she was not in the area but could possibly call a tech. Our dog was dying and there was no after hour care as we were promised mere hours earlier! There are numerous witnesses to all of this. Even the cremation agency refused to cremate her until further investigation. He said that, "They f'ed up." Our dog died shortly thereafter on the way to another vet since Pet Medical was not available as promised. They have refused to apologize or take any responsibility, and still had the audacity to charge us the full $900. I would never recommend them to anyone. In fact, I would suggest never allowing your pet anywhere near this place. Our pets are our children. She was my fiancee's baby. She was only 3 years old, healthy, was up to date on shots, had all of the routine blood work done, etc. A routine surgery turned into our worst nightmare. All because of the negligence of the staff at Pet Medical Center. read more

This is the most a** backwards vet. clinic I have ever had the misfortune of going to. These past few months have been the first and last association I will ever have with this miserable place. I first adopt my dog from the area humane society, and take him in for them to do a check-up. I do a blood draw on him to get an analysis and all his necessary updates for frontline and heart gard. The tech/doctor suggests that because he is positive for lime (they tell me 95% of dogs are) that he should be treated...doxycycline...or something...and I am assured that there are very few instances of an allergic reaction. Mind you, this dog has never shown a symptom of having limes disease at all...So they give him the first lime shot and explain that I need to come back in a month for the second. I ask if this will need to be paid for or if I need to pay for it when I come in. This vet tech...for lack of a better name...we will call her F.O.S. (Full Of...), tells me "No, you will just have to come in and get the shot...no payment." I get the medicine, and give hime one tablet. Almost immediately breaks out in hives...turns red...etc. I call the vet to tell them what has happened. All in the same day; the person I was talking to continues to say, "We are sorry for this, there is no way we would have known." At this point I am furious. They HIGHLY suggest that this dog be treated for something he has never shown a symptom of having...and then apologize and do nothing to correct the problem. Finally, I am fed up with talking to a wall, (whoever was on the other end of the phone) and state, "This is ridiculous...this is the last you will be getting my business. This dog was completely healthy before Pet Med. touched him. Now he is miserable. I hope you all are happy." and I hang up. 5 minutes later the doctor calls and apologizes and suggests I come in for a shot of benedryl. Only thing I don't pay for... I return today to get my dog the second shot he needed to complete this unbelievable pain of an experience. My dog receives the final shot...and as I am about to leave..."Sir, you owe $30.19..." Wait...I was told by this person...Miss F.O.S. that I don't have to pay...as Miss F.O.S. is standing there and says.. "No no no, that must be a mistake..." So I pay, and this will be the last time I ever go to pet medical. I am deeply irritated by how unprofessional and how misleading they are. I called today to refill my dogs prescription. He was just there last month for a checkup, vaccines etc. I was told I would need to come in again to get lab work done to make sure the medication was still safe. I had asked about all of this at his last appointment, yet here I am going to be charged for yet another clinic visit! Not impressed, not professional read more

Wonderful caring veterinarians and staff! The best veterinary practice in the area. Dr. Finnegan and Dr. Macon are so fantastic! I saw some bad reviews from the past and felt that I needed to say something. These poor reviews are from years ago and I don't think those vets are even there anymore. I also had a bad experience in the distant past with different vets who are no longer practicing there. If you had a bad experience in the past, I encourage you to give them another try. I am a physician and have some knowledge about what good medical care is and these two are really great. They have treated my pets when they were critically ill and for simple things as well. They are efficient, extremely knowledgeable, personable and caring but also have common sense and won't fat shame your pet or make you feel guilty if you aren't willing to subject your pet to extreme, futile and expensive treatments. We are breeders and Dr. Dinnegan does house calls for our litters so we don't have to take all of the puppies in to the clinic. She has helped us save failing puppies and with other issues in our adult dogs. I want it to be known that Pet Medical Center's newer veterinarian addition was on call for all of the Veterinarian Clinics in Winona on Sunday, September 4th, 2016. My daughter called in with an emergency at 3:45am to the on call service because one of our little dogs suddenly started bleeding a lot of bright red blood from his rectum. This veterinarian from Pet Medical Center of Winona called her back and told her that it was not an emergency and that if he had truly lost that much blood, he would be dead already. She told her (without even seeing him) that he had the flu and she should give him boiled chicken and rice and call her back at 5pm that day if he was not any better. My daughter practically begged her for help but she just told her to call back. My daughter didn't wait that long and called back before 10am to try to get someone else, but ended up with her again as she was the only veterinarian on call that weekend. She finally agreed to meet with my daughter at her office and then showed up late. My daughter kept asking if he needed fluids and she took her time looking in his mouth and pointing out his bad teeth, even took x-rays of him..........by the time she got around to putting in an IV, he didn't make it and passed away. We had a necropsy done at the University of Minnesota and their findings were that he passed away from HGE. If you google that, you will find that time is of the essence with this condition and that if treated right away with fluids and antibiotics, it can be 100% treatable. Also, the blood work she ran before looking at his teeth and taking the x-rays, along with his symptoms, should have pointed out to her what he had. We had not changed any of his foods recently, it is just a condition that yorkies and other dogs are prone too. Being a pet owner for many, many years, I have lost a few pets, however, never to a condition that could have been treated if taken seriously by a veterinarian. This was a senseless loss of our poor Brodee Boy. If a business is asking for reviews, they should leave the reviews on their site, whether good or bad.......they removed my review from Facebook, so I am posting one on here. If this review bothers them, then they should comment back or have common courtesy to prove me wrong. I have actually never reviewed a business before this one on Facebook or Google, however, I have strong feelings about this issue and want others to be made aware of this situation. I don't want any other animals to die because a veterinarian doesn't take an emergency call seriously enough. It is hard enough to lose a pet to a condition that can't be treated!! UPDATE January 13th, 2018: I originally spoke up highly of the Pet Medical Center, especially for saving my Chloe's life as she has Addison's Disease. But in recent months I started mouthing off to them because my dogs records had gotten messed up, I had to fix that. At the same time a friend's $100 they had donated for the percorten shot Chloe had needed for her Addison's as my friends help me to pay for those, had been lost and it was like she hadn't paid in the $100. She had to wait until getting her credit card statement and then show that to Sue, the accountant and manager there who is a greedy b.... I've had to deal with that Sue a few times. They had gotten alot of new vet techs in recently and seemed to have changed some of their policy. To which I got after them about that too recently. I then received an email a few days ago stating that they will no longer provide me veterinary services that I need. I had reasons to complain. And they should have told me about that policy when it came into effect, because I never heard of that policy before. It would cost me more money that I felt they were doing as a ploy to get more money for themselves. As I've said, that Susie is greedy. Anyway, they kicked me out only days before my Chloe NEEDED a percorten shot for her Addison's. I had to hurry up and round up a vet because the percorten shot is due on tuesday January 16th, 2018 and it is now Saturday, January 13th. I read the email on January 11th, 2018. I gave them so much over several years. I was nice up until they started messing up on things and so many new vet techs came in and seemed like they didn't know what they were doing. And then they quoted policy which I never heard that one before in all the years I was there. I swear it is a new one. So much changed there in recent months. They said I am too rude to the staff. Yeah, well I am if they don't know what the hell they are doing. So many great years there and then this happens and I am thrown to the curb for my attitude. I stuck up for myself. I do reviews alot and talked up alot about them. I'm going through some of those reviews I did on other sites and changing them. They can't hate me anymore than they do now. read more

I went here with my cat when I first moved to the area, because it was the only vet I knew where it was at the time. She had been recently declawed, and had torn her sutures out. When I took her in, I was rudely told that my best option would be to put her under, have them do xrays and take off more of the bone. I asked what the cost of that would be, and was told over $400. I had just moved, and had no money or job, not even a credit card. I asked if there was any other way to fix the issue and was told that they could put her under and clean it up then bandage it, but it was then implied that if I didn't do the first option I was a bad parent and making my cat suffer. I asked if it was an option to try the bandage first to see if that would help. Well, they charged me $80 bucks to do that ($30 of which was an ace bandage) and my cat was fine within a week, no problems at all. I now have a pet bird, and while this vet will see birds, I am actually driving an hour away to the next available place simply to avoid ever going here again. read more
