Went in this place yesterday and I can honestly say I felt bad for the animals. The place is TINY and packed with people. A small glass aquarium housed 6-7 large rats. African Grey parrots (4 of them) were all in the same 2'x2' cage. The store was so hot because of all the people. The canaries and small finches looked to be in decent shape, and the bunnies looked clean. There was a very loud parrot-type bird placed on the floor in a cage who was clearly upset about being on the ground. I'm sure these birds are healthy enough, and I almost bought some to take them out of there... but if I were to buy them I'd be supporting the store. Parrots, conure, lovebirds etc were going for prices much cheaper than other pet stores. The sign on the door said "puppy and kittens avail." but I can't see where they'd fit them in the tiny aisles. I ordered bird treats online and confirmed that it was what I wanted based on the picture on the product page. I received a different treat. I contacted the store via email on two occasions and never got a response. I do not recommend for online purchases or good customer service. read more

Horrible place. animals are mistreated and badly cared for. rotting bettas in cups, sick animals and dirty tanks all over. I saw them selling land snails which i believe is illegal, not to mention it was on aspen which would dry out the snail. The owner is not kind whatsoever and has tried to scam a friend of mine. do not buy animals from here. this place needs to be shut down. read more

Horrible service ! Very arrogant!! Wouldn't recommend at all completely get what the other customer reviews are saying is so true. The women at the Mississauga location is condescending and rude when trying to ask questions about the birds. She was behaving so rudely. Was willing to buy the birds and all the clay and vitamins she was pushing for even though we already have all of it. I really feel sorry for all the lovely animals under her care. I posted this on google and got no reply so I'm posting it here too ORIGINAL POST: Got a hamster from here and did EVERYTHING I was told to do to keep it happy and healthy and it died in less than a week. I'm heartbroken. I will not be returning. Devastated. SECOND POST: you reply to every review except the reviews talking about how pets died within a week of purchasing them. I went really easy on you guys in my review but since I'm being ignored I'm going to share my WHOLE experience. This is an EXTREMELY unprofessional business. When we walked in the very frightening/rude male worker was getting very aggressive with another client. My mistake was still buying a pet from them after having seen this. NOTE TO POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS: TAKE THE REVIEWS ABOUT PETS DYING WITHIN A WEEK SERIOUSLY! After talking to professionals and doing research I've come to the conclusion that they knew they were selling me a sick hamster. Also take the reviews about them pressuring you to buy their garbage seriously. They told me that if I wanted to pay by Visa I had to spend more money. They pressured me into buying a ball that was WAY too small for my hammy (they of course knew it was too small but I was a naive new pet owner and trusted them). I went to buy a new pet from PetSmart after the hamster I bought from these cons died and they were WAY more professional. They quarantine their animals for 14 days and do not allow petting as rodents are capable of contracting COVID19. Petopets never mentioned having done this. Who knows who has touched the pets you're buying (I pet two hamsters)! Any reputable shop will have a health guarantee, the fact that petopets does not, speaks volumes about their confidence in the health of their animals. I have done A LOT of research since my hamster passed. The hamsters I saw at Petopets were kept in unfavorable conditions in dirty little tanks with very little bedding. I am grateful that snoopy (the hammy I bought here) got to live his last days comfortably in a clean properly equipped cage rather than in this wretched "pet store". read more

Had a terrible experience trying to return a birdcage for a larger, (more expensive!) birdcage. Returned in unopened package with plastic still intact. Buy your pet products somewhere else. read more

If you see other reviews of the staff being rude, it's all so true. Force you into buying other things if you want your ordered pet. Even called himself being "respectful"over the phone. Haha, using the excuse of caring about the pet so much. I'm a experienced pet owner. Only inexperienced pet owners go to the store and blame you for the animal dying. You know, maybe it can be just made up by you to force people to buy other things. Also the staff kicked us out while we are deciding if we want to accept your forced bundle shopping or not, saying we are wasting time. I can't wait for you to go out of business. While you spend time to reply to bad reviews with your lies and coverups, you can sure the this time to improve your monstrous attitude. read more

We have come in here a few times to pick up pet food since it is a convenient location for us. It is a small store but if we need more items we just go to a bigger pet store like PetSmart. The staff have been fine every time we have been here read more

i am so very disappointed ..i went to the burlington location today an was treated like a criminal an a uneducated idiot...i have been to this store before bought a 500 dollar cage an bought several birds an toys. the owner an his wife treated me fine the times before when i went there but today sept 26th i went to the store to get a bird i was looking to spend 400 on the bird i came into the store with 2 kids an a buddy both kids are 7 years old ..first thing i saw was the small cages the big birds where in the bird was miserable it was easy to see....now the lady from the counter follwed me back into the bird an fish area saying what do you want help with i said nothing i know what im looking for. so im standing there looking at two birds i know what they are i have 14 birds already an i am well read on birds, as i stood there looking at the two birds to decide what one i wanted she kept harasseing me an tells me what kind of birds they are ..i told her i can read an i can also see what kind of birds they are an i told you i dont need an education or help ill let you know what one i want to buy...she says to me well im not going to sell you one you will have to go online an order one if you want one so i said fine then you should have said you are not selling birds today for the start if you saw me looking at birds lol...so i said fine i want nothing then so i go in the fish area to get the kids an the kids said why are u not buying the bird i said because the lady said i cant buy one today..the lady came stomping over an says i told you you have to go online i said our conversation ended why are you still talking to me an interrupting my conversation with the kids its none of yer business what we are talking about...she goes of on me like a karen an tells me leave my store right now an marchs up into my face...i am 6 foot 4 400 pounds an she is yelling at me she decided when i came in that she was going to be a karen because she did not like the look of all the tattooes on my face so she assumed im some piece of crud..i am actually a very succesful gainfully employed person..she neeeds to be fired i left the building an my friend an the kids all agreed the lady was a neasty person..i will be following up on this lady that is for certain...i cant belive she got in my face maybe one foot away an yelled at me an tried to get a reaction from me trying to set me up.....so a store that is cruel to animals i dont say that to be mean its reality an a staff memebr that has to respect or customer relation skills ...if a customer wants to be left alone to shop an decide what they want to order then leave them alone an say if you need anything come to the front let me know...instead she kept following me like i was going to rob the place read more

Please DO NOT buy any pets from here. Upon entering the store I had an eerie feeling that something is just not right. Many birds are crammed into extremely confined cages, and the cages are not sanitary at all. There were feces and feathers all over the cages which the birds had to live in. The birds themselves looked sick. I have owned birds all my life and I have never seen so many lethargic, ill looking birds. I am really heart broken for the birds. Please do not support this store. If you want a healthy pet go elsewhere. read more
