I don't know where these negative reviews are coming from, but I give Pet Paradise Ballantyne, FIVE Stars! I just BOARDED my two SENIOR Fur-babies for FIVE days, and they received EXCELLENT care. My Yogi is 14 and on prescription meds. He received his meds as directed! I've NEVER left my babies for this length of time and was quite apprehensive. The Manager, Rosemary, went out of her way to reassure me and promised to give them EXTRA attention! My babies even received a "go home" bath! They were happy, calm, and "tuckerd" out when my husband and I picked them up to go home! I HIGHLY recommend this facility and look forward to using them again and again. Checked my dog in last Thursday-Sunday and confirmed day camp. After not seeing her on Webcam after checking several times Thur & Friday morning we called at 11am. While in hold she amazingly appeared. I was told by Regional manager it was her fault for Friday since she had a meeting and didn't do roll call. Lame excuse to me. We could also never find her in any kennels. I asked about Thursday's Day camp and she said she would send me over time stamped video. It has been a week, several requests and no video. She was let out late on Saturday after we called again and when he got her home Sunday & gave her a bath, found what looks like a bloody bite wound behind her ear. I tried calling Monday and after several attempts, was told they weren't picking up because they were understaffed and told to send photos, which I did. I also requested day camp videos for everyday in writing & verbally and no response. Try finding contact information about the corporate office, they don't easily share it. Also check out BBB and see they are not members and have a "F" rating. After, a complaint filed on BBB a marketing person has sent me 2 emails, one asking for the location & one yesterday saying she would escalate it. I did find the HR manager's number Monday and she said she would have someone call me & no call. I think they may have been understaffed and thought they could get away with not providing day camp and still wonder how my dog got hurt. read more

received a call that my dog was acting nervous and growling and snapping at the staff. They wanted me to fly home from Florida and pick her up. I asked if she had been given her anti-anxiety medicine that I gave them and specified the instructions when I dropped her off. After putting me on hold for 10 minutes the manager returned and said that she was not given the meds AT ALL since I left her there. He then went on to say that they didn't give her medication because she wasn't showing any symptoms of anxiety. I pointed out the obvious that the growing and snapping were the signs of anxiety and that I told them to give her the meds, not to wait for signs of anxiety. After she was medicated she did better and was able to participate in group socializing, etc. when I picked her up I was shocked to see how much medication was gone. So they OVER medicated her at that point. I have boarded her with other Pet Paradises before and never had a problem. This was awful and I will never return. I spent alot of money sending my dog here. I got a call about my dog having a bad interaction with a puppy. I was shown the video and it was very chaotic with alot of dogs (a few staff was in a corner) Apparently my dog was constantly going after this puppy. From the video it was obvious that the large group of dogs was not properly supervised and I stated this. The response was to encourage me to contact and enroll in their training program and he can now only have one on one daycare, which is more expensive and he would spend alot of time alone a room. I asked why he was placed with a puppy and was told placement was by size ( not temperment). My dog had no issues almost a year he was there except for this puppy. A few days before I left him there for 4 hrs and staff brought me his food. I told her I didn't leave food that day so it was from another full day where he didn't get fed. Several times I picked him up he smelled like urine so I had to bathe him. My opinion is I wouldnt send any dog there. They have way too many to properly supervise or even guarantee your dog will be fed. Find another place. read more

My dog has been going here for boarding since I moved to CLT almost two years ago with no issues. I brought him for the weekend about two months ago, when I picked him up (after 2 nights) he was shaking and had really bad diarrhea all night at home. I thought this was a fluke since he seemed fine at pick-up, he's a Covid dog so he does have separation anxiety... I thought I would give it another try so I brought him there again last night. Again, he is hiding under the bed shaking and just had diarrhea all over my house again. I had a bad feeling when I dropped him off, the guy checking him in seemed afraid of him but I thought maybe I was just overreacting. We have used the airport and Matthews locations for boarding our two lab mix rescues. They both go crazy as soon as we pull up and can't get in fast enough! That's enough to show me they love it there. They come home exhausted from all the play and new sounds and smells. Since our older dog has been diagnosed with cancer, he can't play and run around with the younger one, so we send him here a one or two days a week for day camp. He absolutely loves going. Runs to the truck as soon as I ask if he wants to go to 'school'. They give him a daily 'report card' as I call it. We love the webcam that shows us all of friends and him playing. He comes home exhausted too, which makes it easier on his older brother who can't keep up with him any longer. Friendly staff, beautiful new facility. read more

Pet Paradise could be an awesome pet care and boarding center. It's a great concept and the staff is very nice. The building is very clean and has a ton to offer pet owners. Their struggle is staffing and capacity. If they are able to solve that piece, and it's a big piece, this would easily be a 5 star review. First, you can visit before you board and check out the set up. There is so much you can add on if you like, multiple boarding options, VIP suite with cameras, playrooms with cameras, grooming, pool for larger dogs and so much more. It's not your typical crate boarding as the dogs will have a stable style room which can be shared if you have 2 dogs. They do temperment checks to make sure dogs are compatible and will let them play together a couple of times a day (issue here can be staffing). This was the first time we had to board our 2 dogs due to an emergency. 1 is a very picky eater and the other can be very anxious. Needless to say, we were a little nervous but Pet Paradise will let you call in to check on them or you can get a package to where they will send you updates and pictures. We did call a couple of times to make sure they were eating and to check on their playtime / exercise time. Due to staffing, they were not able to be testing for 2 days so they didn't get out. Thankfully, when they did, they integrated very well. It's great to see them playing on the camera in the playrooms and having a good time. It's puts you at ease, especially the first time. There is a premium you pay over the "crate" typical boarding - with that said. If the staffing can handle the capacity, it's worth it. If there is a staffing issue, playtime may be cut or not happen for that day. And, if this is your first time, you get a day free. So you can use it to try them out for a day or get a free day for an extended stay. All of this to say, we were nervous initially. But allowing us to call, the playtime, the clean set up, and now knowing that our 2 will be good with other dogs etc - we will definitely be back. I hope the staffing issue can get cared for as this is a really good center to use. read more

My dog has been going there for over 2 years. Now all of sudden they are saying he can't play with other dogs and nipped at a staff member. I find that very hard to believe. The staff in the back are young kids who could care less about the dogs, kicking and kneeing them. Everyone has always loved our dog and now he is a problem, I think it is the other way around since they can't keep staff. My son even tried working there and the manager was doing drugs in the bathroom. read more

I gave them another try after 2 years and they are even worse than before. I see why they have a 3-star rating. First I had a reservation for our puppy and the reservation agent assured me that he was good since he had his rabies shot and Bordatella. The worst part of this place is that I gave them our vet records and the red-headed guy at the desk accused us of possibly printing our receipt from an internet template and he had to call a Manager???? He then explained that he couldn't get ahold of the doctor. I then called the doctor and left a message, and low and behold, the Doctor texted me and told me that he tried to call Pet Paradise to confirm the record but they didn't answer the phone. I called several times also and they did not pick up the phone, awful if your pet is there and you cannot get anyone to answer. I suppose he just didn't want to take on any more pets as they seemed understaffed. I saw the one girl take in a grey dog and knee him when taking him back, then she yelled at him to cut it out. I thought if this is how they treat the dogs, I don't want mine to stay there. The guy was rude when he first came up, he wasn't in the least bit cordial and never seemed happy to have the pets. Instead, they all seemed aggravated. Finally, the rude Manager got on the line, she was rude and so was the supervisor on duty. The whole place needs a staff do-over. Why doesn't corporate see this? Do they read the reviews on both Google and Yelp? They are not good. DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE. Trust me, your pets are not well cared for as the people are not caring and they are extremely rude. We took our pet to Wags and Whiskers and he LOVED it! No doubt where they will be going from now on but steer clear of this place !!!!!!! read more

DO NOT leave your dog at this facility. My dog came home from boarding for 3 days and has injuries on every single paw. Burns and lacerations. I was told by a manager that she was 'limping, but it seemed to go away'. No one checked her out prior to sending her home. This doesn't even scratch the surface of the issues we had for this visit. They did not feed my dogs the food I provided, only gave them a fraction of what they typically eat (not due to being sick or anything), did not listen to instructions to keep my other dogs out of group play, Sent them home FILTHY. Im disgusted with how my dog came home. The saving grace of this facility is the veterinary office. They have been the most understanding people and we're the most helpful in getting our girl squared away with these injuries and moving this situation up the chain. This grooming facility is horrible! Do not trust them or take your pets there for grooming. They will cancel on you with no regard to how it affects your pet , or how hard it is to make a grooming appointment. I have 3 golden doodles and I get them groomed regularly (every 10-14 days). Just moved to the area and the Ballantyne location was very convenient. The good: convenient location, beautiful building with very helpful and friendly front staff. Pickup and drop off was seamless. The bad: our dog is 10 years old and has never been sick for more than a day. She came home and had loose stool for more than a week. We called to report and sent them the vet papers. They said someone from management would call. One email, two calls and many days after still no call. Not sure if she picked something up there or was given the wrong food (we supplied her food). This was a quick weekend getaway for us and we feel terrible she was so sick. A call would have been nice. read more

This location is brand new and a great addition to the area! There is an indoor pool and the staff is great. Prices are reasonable compared to others in the area and they do daycare, boarding, and they have an on-site vet staff! It's a great idea to get at least your first day free and it's perfect for a day you are running errands or just need the pups out of the house for in laws or contractors! Sadly I recommended this location to several friends only to find they had terrible experiences as well. I started my puppy at Pet Paradise for day care as soon as he was old enough to attend (12 weeks old) He is a high energy breed, and especially with being a puppy, I was thrilled to find somewhere to send him while I was at work so he could socialize and get his energy out. I loved the idea of the cameras and being able to check in and watch him running around and having a great time.   As he got older and bigger, I started noticing him getting less and less play time every day, and being put in the time out area more often. When I would question how he was when I would pick him up, I would get no negative feedback but "he did great!" Thinking maybe I was overreacting or having bad timing with seeing him play on the cameras, I let it go. I figured if there was an issue, I would be made aware by someone. Soon, he was spending more time in time out than he was playing and eventually he was being put in time out from the moment play time started until play time was over. I pushed for answers on what was going on, and was told he's showing "aggressive tendencies". This caught me off guard because he's a puppy and had been going there for months & never has had an issue before. Also, my dog has a trainer who has been working with him since he was 10 weeks old. I wanted to know specifics of what aggressive tendencies he was showing so I could address them with his trainer but was never given a straight answer.   At this point, I began watching the cameras a lot more to try to see what these "aggressive tendencies" he was showing so we can fix them while he is young. While watching the cameras more often, I realized my dog was not getting nearly any play time. He was in time out so often that when he would finally get the chance to come out, he would be super energetic from watching all of the other dogs play and within 5 minutes he was put back in time out. He just loves to run, and apparently that's not ok at dog daycare.   I began recording the cameras through my phone to attempt to see what "aggressive tendencies" he was showing, since I was still not being told exactly what he was doing. This is when I recorded an interaction that is never ok. On the camera, it appears that the manager walked over to the hose, picked it up, and sprayed it at my dog while he was in the time out crate, and put the hose away right after. I never knew why my dog was so terrified of hoses, and this concerns me to know if this is why he is afraid of them and if so, how often this could have been done to him- it's hard to trust a place when you catch something like that happening to your dog.   If you have a "high energy" dog, they will be labeled as "aggressive" and stuck in a time out cage. If I wanted my dog in a cage, I wouldn't pay to send him somewhere to play. It seems very much that my dog was labeled as "aggressive" because he didn't want to be dealt with. I've left Pet Paradise and I now send my dog to a competitor in Pineville where I'm told there is not an aggressive bone in his body. read more

We scheduled a day camp visit for our dog on a Saturday 10:30-4) and in the total amount of time that our dog was there, he was "allowed to play" for a total of 30 minutes and sat in a kennel for 5+ hours. The staff hurried us along as we tried to ask questions and rushed us out of the lobby, telling us how busy they were. When we asked how much play time he received, no one could give us an answer. They "assured" us he went out for a 30 minute play period, but we never saw our dog on any of the playroom cameras. There are many other options in the area that are FAR more attentive to our pet with better pricing. We will not be bringing our dog to this business again. read more

I would like to start by saying that I love Pet Paradise as a business. I have had wonderful experiences at several other locations: Tallahassee (we love this one!!!), ATL, and CLT airport. Since I am at my parents during COVID, I decided to try a new location since it's recently new and absolutely beautiful on the outside! Unfortunately, we were highly disappointed. After dropping my dog off, about 30 minutes after, I did not see him in large group play so we called. We were told he was put up in "time out" for mounting. Okay we thought - we understand why a dog needs to be put up for mounting and we still respect this decision. A few minutes later, we saw him come out to play. We were in the car at this point, so we had the camera up the whole time. He played for a few minutes and then he was put up again, there was nothing that happened. My dog was not the only dog that was put up, there were several dogs that were being put up over and over. Thankfully, the time he was up was about 5 minutes which is what we were told time out was for. He came back out to play, and again was put up for what looked like the whole group of dogs running after a ball. Again, I'd like to point out he was not the only dog. There were two other dogs that were constantly being put up. I turned the camera off for a bit as I was working from home. When turning it back on, there was another employee with the dogs. This employee was pushing/slinging the dogs off of him when they'd jump up on him. My dog is quite large - 58 pounds - he jumps on me to give hugs and to see other dogs being aggressively pushed off, it didn't sit well with me. There were maybe, I'm guessing, 10 dogs and one ball being thrown. The dogs would run after the ball and my dog was playing with the other dog in getting the ball from him. This incident is what the employees of the Ballantyne location is calling aggressive. After this, he was put up for 43 minutes. I called and know the exact time as I said I was coming to pick him up. One of us went to get him and the other stayed at home and watched the camera, the entire time he was put up. When picking him up, the assistant manager, Bri, was very respectful and explained to me that they consider it aggressive behavior. She did say to me that "if he attacked another dog, I'd have to pay for the vet bill". My dog has been going to our home location of Pet Paradise since he was a puppy. He played in whole group until he was 6 months old and afterward, he couldn't play in whole group until he was neutered. While playing in whole group prior to being neutered, he never had any issue. This was their defense that he hadn't been playing in whole group. I was told several times that they were short staffed, and it made it seem like they had to put dogs up because they didn't have enough people working. I was also told that they're a smaller location but our home location, at Tallahassee, is not much larger. My dog is a Goldendoodle with the majority being Poodle. He is a gentle giant. I have 2 other dogs at home and they often go to dog parks and has been in 2 obedience classes. There is no way I believe for a second that my dog was being aggressive but instead this was their defense when being asked. With all of this being said, we had a very disappointing experience. We did not have time to drive back and forth while we worked from home. Dogs to us are like our children and when we take them to daycare, we expect for them to be played with and treated with love. I do recommend Pet Paradise at other locations but would recommend you not to bring your fur legged babies to the Ballantyne location. read more

Before taking your beloved pet here, find another business who actually cares about your pet and you as its owner. This place literally left my sweet dog in the kennel for over a week sick without so much as a phone call or having their on-site vet staff look at him. He could barely walk, fluids were steadily coming out of his nose, continuously coughing up blood, couldn't stand or walk very well so he had been using the bathroom on himself for the entire duration of his stay. Was promised a bath before we picked him up and they even failed to do that. He looked and smelled terrible so we immediately rushed to the emergency vet when we picked him up and he sadly passed away shortly after. No one from this location cared enough to call me back after countless messages left. After a bit of advocating on his behalf, I learned that hundreds of other dogs were sick at this same location and many complaints were filed with no action taken from management. Worst place I've ever been to. You never think something like this could ever happen to you and your beloved pet until it does. I am here to say don't make the same mistake I did by trusting any of these people with your pet - it's not worth the risk. read more

I can send him to PPB for daycare where he can play with other dogs and have safe time away from us. Constantine was so kind to Beau and helped him get acclimated and comfortable. I don't have to worry about Beau getting out at Pet Paradise as everything is safely contained. Reservations and check in are easy, the staff is fabulous and the place is very clean. I have always gone to the Pet Paradise Airport location for 5 years & LOVED it but due to full capacity there, I boarded my dog @ Pet Paradise Ballantyne for a weekend & was very disappointed. The whole experience seemed very unorganized & for $53/night, I'd expect MUCH more. I have several issues that I voiced via email to the business after the stay but no response. I was charged $40 for a bath/grooming that my dog clearly didn't receive nor had I requested. 3 of her belongings were missing when my fiancé brought her home (anti slip mat, kong, Dasuquin soft chews) so then I had to drive 30 mins back to find out the kong was lost. Why wasn't it in her suite with all her other belongings? There was an extra bag of food left over which made it seem like she wasn't fed one morning/night & then no report card (the airport location is always great about this). I have also called multiple times, left 2 voicemails but have yet to hear back from anyone regarding this since June 27th. Noted was told it is NOT first come first served. So why wait list if you may never get in. We have been sending our 3 labs to Pet Paradise for a couple of months. Every time my dogs come home they are exhausted and they have the best time when they are there. The staff is great and when we boarded 2 of our dogs a few weeks ago they called us right away when they knew something was wrong with her so we were able to bring her to the vet. This is definitely the go-to place to bring your fur babies to play. I'm definitely a neurotic dog mom and only accept the highest level of care for my sweet puppy. Riley has the absolute most fun at daycare and really loves all the staff. The other day, she even had to jump up on each one to say "goodbye" before leaving for the day. She runs in the door in the morning and doesn't even know I'm gone for the day because the staff plays with her and she loves all her fur friends. Riley comes home tired and so happy she got to socialize. I never have to worry about Riley while I'm away or at work and to me, that is priceless. We recently boarded our 2 dogs over the weekend and one of our dogs is on seizure medicine. The staff did not read the directions on the medicine bottle or on the note I had included with the cheese he takes the pill with, they gave him only 1/3 of his correct dosage. I discovered this because I had supplied them with the exact number of pills and cheese slices he would need during his stay. When they handed the medicine bottle back to me and it still had pills in it I asked how much they had given him and told them they didn't give the correct amount. I asked to speak to a manager - they gave me her phone number since she wasn't there at the time. I reached out to the manager over text and she said she would look into it when she was back in the office but it's been a week and I still have not heard anything. The staff at Pet Paradise used to be great - cared about the animals and even called me with questions regarding his medicine. I am not sure what has happened recently, but the apparent lack of concern over this issue and not to mention the cleanliness of the facility when we picked up. I don't recommend this location at all and especially advise you to look elsewhere if your dog is on medication. read more
