I cannot, in good faith, recommend Camp Bow Wow in Fort Mill. We dropped off our very social 1-year-old rescue, Moose, for boarding on Friday, July 17 while we were on vacation. On Tuesday, July 21, I received a call around 1:30 p.m. informing me that Moose was favoring his leg and would be taken to the vet. I asked for pictures and provided the contact information for our veterinarian, but received a text stating that our vet was experiencing technical issues, so they took him to their veterinarian instead. We then received a call from their veterinarian, who suspected Moose had been bitten by a snake. Pictures and X-rays were sent to us, and the veterinarian recommended transferring him to an animal hospital for 24-hour observation because he was running a fever. Later that evening, after Moose had been transferred, the veterinarian called again to inform us that it was not a snake bite but an infected dog bite. The veterinarian indicated that the bite most likely occurred on Monday, July 20. Adding to our concern, while Moose was at the animal hospital on the evening of July 21, I received a text from Camp Bow Wow containing photos of him and the message: "Hi Mom, just wanted to let you know I am doing good and I love you and cannot wait to see you." Although I assume this was an automated message, given that they knew Moose was no longer at the facility and was receiving treatment at an animal hospital it was inappropriate and insensitive. I drove five hours home that night and picked Moose up from the animal hospital on Wednesday, July 22. Due to his condition, I informed Camp Bow Wow that he would not be returning for the remainder of his boarding stay and paid for his boarding from Friday through Monday. That same Wednesday, the owner told me they would review the video footage to determine what had happened. The owner called on Friday, July 24 and stated that, after reviewing the videos, nothing was observed other than normal play. When we returned from vacation, I returned her call on Sunday, July 25. I then left additional messages on July 27, July 29, and August 3, but have yet to receive a response. I also contacted Camp Bow Wow corporate on August 1 and again on August 3, with no response. In all of my messages, I have politely requested a return call to discuss the situation and have not asked for anything. I am disappointed by both the lack of response and the lack of care provided while Moose was under their supervision. I understand that dog bites can happen, but in this case the injury occurred while he was in their care, became infected, and resulted in $1,500 in veterinary expenses. I believed I had found a place where Moose would be safe and well cared for, but I now find myself looking elsewhere for daycare and boarding services. read more

My dog absolutely loves going to doggy daycare at Camp Bow Wow in Fort Mill. The staff is friendly and she loves playing with other dogs. I like the fact that dogs are separated into groups based on their size. My 7 lb. Shih Tzu gets to play with other tiny dogs in the Tea Cup Indoor Play yard. This was my first experience with Camp Bow Wow in Fort Mill and I was very disappointed. First of all they have video access so you can see your pet I tried several times while we were away and wasn't able to see him on camera I'm not sure where he actually was. When I did see the dogs in the yards on camera they were just wondering around aimless there was no interaction between the dogs and the sitter at all. I never saw the dogs outside at all. I also left instructions for him to get some training completed while he was there I figured I'd take it vantage of him being there for 10 days and needing some training but that did not take place for some reason there was a mess up with communication and the trainer was never arranged. I also requested a bath and some grooming be completed while he was done and that was not taken care of! I got a nice letter back from the customer service regional manager explaining all of the misses and how it was absolutely unacceptable that these errors happened but they didn't offer any accommodations. I don't think I'll be going back to them for any services it was expensive and disappointing. Oh and when I checked out they were going to charge me for the training and the grooming services that never took place! Sigh read more

I am beyond devastated. We've been patron of Camp Bow Wow since they opened. Our girl is Pixel is a 12 year old Dalmatian recently diagnosed with a painful tumor in her spine. Because she's a senior , we're very aware to keep Camp Bow Wow aware of her changing needs. When we dropped her off, we had a hard copy of her physical needs. The intake counselor was given the info and we watcher her read it. Pixel spent the last 13 days at Camp Bow Wow. We prepared food for her breakfast, lunch and dinner. In each food packet was her pain meds. When we picked her up, we saw that only half of her food packets were used. That meant not only did she get half her food, but only got half her pain meds. She lost 10% of her body weight; but more importantly was without pain meds. They've refunded our boarding fee but how does that make up for her pain. Shame on them! read more

My dog loves going to camp! When we pull into the parking lot she immediately gets excited and super happy! The staff at CBW is very sweet and always does a great job getting my dog checked in and out. My dog usually stays for boarding and it's so nice to have a piece of mind while I'm away (since she's my baby). My pup is always so sleepy when she gets home, so I know she is having a great time playing and getting energy out while at camp! I also love the fact that I can check on her via the camera on the app. I would recommend CBW to anyone who needs camp or boarding for their furbaby! read more

I would never recommend this location. Short story: My dog was accepted for a full day. On his second day there, I observed a counselor shoving and elbowing dogs on camera. When I called to complain I was told that the issue would be taken care of. Coincidentally, when my husband went to pick up my dog that evening we were told he wasn't a good fit due to "humping." All dogs and this location continuously hump one another. Long story: My dog loves humans and this was only his second day away from home so was scared and confused. He made sure to stay around the counselor due to this and instead was shoved off of a red balance beam by her. Hard enough might I add that he landed on his side and it took him a few seconds to try and get up. I observed this counselor do the same thing to other dogs as well. After the counselor switched shifts, you could visibly see her upset on camera and pointing to my dog to the next shift counselor. That next counselor then proceeded to ignore my dog. Again - my dog loves humans and was trying to get some attention. Other dogs would jump at this woman and get pet, mine was left alone. So no wonder due to shoving and being ignored he acted out by humping. I told my husband when he went to go pick up our dog that I was nervous my actions against a irresponsible dog handler somehow punished him. My husband went to go pick up our dog and was told that he wasn't a good fit at this location due to "humping." My husband explained that his first day there, he kept getting humped but nothing was done about it. To make matters worse, we had booked boarding with this location in 3 days for a vacation and had to scramble to find somewhere else to go. It wasn't until my husband demanded they speak to another location that the manager talked to another branch to reschedule our boarding. She tried to tell my husband that if our dog stopped humping he may do better - again, an excuse to his dismissal. My husband then explained that this was a way to introduce our dog to other dogs, which was difficult during COVID. And if the cause truly was humping (again, a lie) then how are we supposed to get him to stop if he was banned. When I called the manager on the phone after my husband returned and said it was coincidental that our dog was kicked out after calling about the counselor, she said she didn't know what I thought I saw on camera, but that counselors will remove dogs from one another. When I told her that was not the case and my dog was SHOVED off of the red beam and had trouble getting up she quickly changed the subject. We watched our dog the entire time on the online camera - how could I have made that up?? She also lied about telling my husband that our dog wasn't a dog fit there and stumbled to say he wasn't a good fit "for that day." I am horrified that the manager would let this counselor work at their establishment and dismiss a dog because their owner called them out on it. If you don't like dogs around you and want to shove them, don't work at a dog daycare!!! I am also extremely angry about the fact that my dog was shoved and elbowed then ignored and punished by being put in time out - the later just because I called. This is an innocent animal and not something that should endure that abuse!! Maybe if you split the 20 dogs between the other 2 empty pens you have this wouldn't be a problem. Go somewhere else. Another branch even. But do not go here - they do not care about your dog. read more

I took our two year old 65 lb rescue mix for her "get to know you" interview. I was able to watch using their cameras which was helpful. They took her into a play area and did a couple of tours around the perimeter with her on a leash and then off. Once off the leash she went to the entrance indicating she was uncomfortable and perhaps wanted to leave. They then bought in one dog, bigger than her and friendly. This went well but you could see my dog was tentative about new surroundings and a new dog. They then took that dog away and brought in a bigger dog and my dog clearly showed signs she was uncomfortable, hiding behind the trainer. At this point they let in about 5-6 dogs who immediately wanted to play and sniff and get to know my dog. This was too much for her and she snapped indicating she preferred to be left alone. She has successfully boarded at Camp Bark and Pet Paradise and both said she was shy and preferred the company of older quiet dogs. This didn't seem to resonate with the people at CBW. Rather than find a suitable way to accommodate a shy tentative even scared rescue CBW just wanted a dog that could get along with any size playmate. She failed the test but I'm thankful she has more caring places I can keep her. read more

0 stars if possible! Dropped my pet off for overnight boarding. Arrived at my destination on yesterday and checked the camera app for Camp Bow Wow. I noticed my dog in playroom 2 alone. He was scratching at the door and howling. I thought it was strange that no other dogs were in the playroom like the other rooms. I watched for 20 min and called the front desk. I explained what I saw on camera and no one seem to know that my dog was in this room. I spoke with Skylar, the Asst Mgr, who told me the dog handler who was supposed to be present, took all the dogs back to their room and didn't do the proper accountability checks to notice that my dog was left behind. They stated he must've been hiding. They also said it was likely that he was in there 25-30 min. (I'm not sure I believe this). Thank God for cameras!!! What if I never called???? I paid $45 p/n for him to be watched and didn't receive the proper service. I'm now weary of leaving my pet with this establishment for our next vacation. Needless to say, Camp Bow Wow in Ft. Mill will NEVER receive our business again! read more

This place has really gone down hill the past few years. This is not the first issue I've had with them but it will be our last. 6:58pm tonight I get a call from them asking if I planned on picking up my dog today (they close at 7pm) I told them I had a reservation until tomorrow the woman then laughed at me and said "No ma'am" and told me they would just extend it. I said I have a reservation until tomorrow and I have an email confirmation from your company. Again the woman laughed and said no. I tell them we will be there first thing tomorrow morning. After hanging up I check my email and it shows reservation until tomorrow! I then call them right back and surprise no answer. I then email them my screenshot showing my correct reservation. First of all why would you call someone 2 minutes before you close? And second what kind of customer service laughs at you when you explain you had a longer reservation and that if today was pickup day you would have obviously rushed back from a trip to pickup your dog! I will be finding another place to board my dog in the future this put me over the edge with them. read more

Take your dogs elsewhere if you love your dogs. We have been faithful and regular customers for nearly 3 years and today we were told that two of our sweetest dogs were not allowed to come back because they were fighting with other dogs... then I was told that this had been a "repeated " problem earlier in the week ; however nobody said anything to us prior to today , in fact when I called to check on dogs (yesterday) , I was told that they were fine and that they never had a problem with out boys ("sweethearts")... I suspect that there's a staffing problem at this facility... I KNOW that there's a communication problem there... plenty of other great options for boarding dogs around the area. I would stay away from this one... Addendum: Recommend that you research this one on a national level... corporate cultural problems and we are certainly not alone in our concerns... staffing problems and margin contraction efforts driving down quality of care...now I understand why the staff told me that my dogs just needed "training " and , lucky me, there just happened to be a trainer on staff there who (for a fee) could fix my apparently broken dogs... dogs who are over a year old and NEVER have had a problem anywhere else (we spend a great deal of time in public with these boys and around others dogs)... another review suggested that the "behavioral problem" was fictitious... Poor experience - search elsewhere. We started our puppy here a couple of months ago to help with socialization with dogs and people. She's now 8 months old and 11 pounds - sweet as can be. They have a half wall separating a teacup room from the medium size dogs - and along that a half door even shorter than the half wall. Our agile puppy was apparently jumping back and forth over the walls (why in the world do you even have this wall where that can be an issue?). We received a call that it was "grounds for immediate dismissal!" and I had to go pick her up and she was not allowed to come back. Huh? Are you serious? Not even a conversation that they were having a problem with her with it and if she didn;t stop we would have to look elsewhere? She's an 8 month old puppy...the phone call was so incredibly rude - it felt like I was being told our dog is the worst dog ever - in terms of the tone and attitude by which we were informed our puppy could no longer go there. My wife and I are still just shocked over this experience. For other reasons on their operations - which I won't get into (how many reasons do you need) we were already planning to move her to a different provider but we needed to use the days we had already prepaid. Is it a coincidence that her picture was posted on the competitors Facebook page yesterday when she did her first visit that today we get a call that she can't go here anymore? Hmmmm... There is no owner - this is a corporate / franchise owned nationwide business with a location run by a manager - and it shows, as there is no personal interest or care in how something like this is handled. I could extrapolate that into how the whole place is run - but I'm biased right now, so I won't - however my one experience should be enough for you to draw your own conclusion on where you want to bring your dog. read more

UPDATE: my dog got kicked out right after I left this review. When confronted about it, they even admitted that because of the "nasty" review they didn't think we were "satisfied" with their service so the dog had to be dismissed. They kicked him out of every single camp bow wow. If you have an energetic pup or a pit bull of some sort, this is not the place for you. read more

My super loving, friendly German shepherd dog went for quite some time and loved it. My husband and I were happy, until I went to pick him up and they asked if I had received a phone call. I did not. Apparently he jumped up on someone and scratched them. He was not jumping being aggressive. He jumped because he was happy to see them. The people with the dogs don't ask for commands used so they did not use his command "off". He was put on probation for jumping up on someone. He had to go to training for that. Training covered everything but that. We thought he was good to go back because we worked with at home also. Apparently not. He did however go back one more time after he was told he couldn't, but then when the second time for an overnight came, I was told he could not go because his reservation was made in error and he was on probation for 3 months and had to have consistent training with the trainer. After that he would have to be approved by the trainer and the manager. Please tell me if all the small dogs that jump up and scratch your legs have to be put on probation and sent to training. I feel that this is large dog discrimination. We have since found a place that is smaller, cleaner, nicer, has attentive people playing and interacting with the dogs. Not just standing around with squirt bottles spraying them. This place has constant playing with breaks, feeds them at 5, not 4 and lets them back out to the bathroom at 9. I suggest that you do your research on other facilities in the area before you settle. I know the cameras give a peace of mind, but when you don't see them at all while watching, you wonder why are they not playing. Probably because they are over booked and the boarders have to stay in their kennels. read more

I take my dog (puppy) here about once or twice a week. They are great and he seems to love it! It's so easy to drop him off with no waiting. They always know him and he can't wait to go in. I left my dog at Camp Bow Wow in Fort Mill over the July 4th Holiday and I can't say enough great things about this location. My dog has been to two other Camp Bow Wow locations in the area (Concord and Charlotte) but the Charlotte location was full and I was referred to Fort Mill. I picked up my dog after a week of camp and she was the happiest and calmest she's ever been after boarding. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and the Fort Mill location is brand new and really spacious. They even offered me a free nights stay after a booking mixup. I would definitely take my dog back! My friend recommended Camp Bow Wow to me, and this is the closest location to me. She told me about the app you can use to watch your dog play, so I decided to check out the general set-up of the place. Not only was the staff paying no attention to the dogs, but some were on their phones and even sitting on the ground. I called to ask about this behavior, and the receptionist seemed generally unbothered by it. She gave me the name of one girl who was with the smaller dogs, Sara, who was sitting against a wall on her phone. I do not trust this location with my pets. The dogs may have well been unattended. I do not understand how the staff is allowed to completely ignore the animals, and why the woman I talked to seemed so unbothered by it. Do NOT bring your dogs here! read more

Very nice staff! Made me feel welcome the minute I walked in the door. I was wary about my dog going because she hadn't seemed very comfortable around dogs since I had adopted her, and they made me feel so much better about being apprehensive rather than feeling crazy. They introduced my dog slowly to the other dogs and were so patient and kind and I was so happy when they told me my dog did great and passed her interview! I am so glad she's a camper. read more

I was thrilled with my dog's experience. I had never boarded her before and was extremely nervous leaving her for the weekend. The warm and knowledgable staff made me feel very comfortable from the moment I dropped her off. I was a bit over-bearing because I was nervous, and they patiently listened to my instructions for her care and really gave her great attention. I loved being able to watch her play on the cameras and was impressed with how the staff handled all the dogs in the play area and made sure it remained a safe and fun environment for them. I had requested a luxury suite for her, but noticed on the camera that she seemed a bit upset about being moved from the general pack. The staff was intuitive enough to pick up on this and moved her to the general boarding area so she could feel like she was still with all her new friends and not being isolated. I can't thank the Camp Bow Wow staff enough for the wonderful care my dog received. read more
