I don't often leave reviews like this, but I feel it's important to share what happened in hopes that it prevents another family from going through what mine just did. On September 9th, my family adopted two kittens, Aren and Delle, from this rescue. We were told they had recently recovered from an upper respiratory infection and were now healthy. Unfortunately, less than a month later, our sweet Delle passed away on October 10th from FIP -- a fatal illness that likely developed from an infection that hadn't fully resolved. We followed all the recommended vet care and sought immediate treatment the moment she showed signs of illness, but despite every effort, she declined quickly. It was a deeply traumatic and heartbreaking experience for our family -- and for Aren, her sister, who is now grieving as well. I want to make it clear that I deeply understand and appreciate the mission behind animal rescues and the challenges they face in caring for so many animals in need. My intention in sharing this isn't to criticize, but to hopefully encourage more thorough medical reviews and communication before adoption. Even small improvements in diligence could help prevent another family from being blindsided by such a devastating situation. I emailed the rescue on October 11th, not in anger but simply to inform them of what happened. Unfortunately, I never received a response. Delle was deeply loved and is deeply missed. I live in Sanford and thought I would adopt a dog locally and support the community! After a laborious time filling out paperwork, retrieving forms, taking photos and calling my vet, I finally applied for a small female cutie. Unfortunately, I was not able to adopt the dog due to my age. Although they didn't state that it became quite obvious that was the reason. They pushed me on to another dog that was much older. a cutie, but not what I was looking for. The most disheartening fact is that this little cutie is still on numerous adoption sites so she wasn't adopted. The didn't tell the truth and discriminated against myself and my husband. They said there was so much interest on the dog and it was adopted. I fit the profile for this dog quite well. To say the least I am disappointed and would have appreciated the truth. read more

Nice presentation, but totally lied about the dog I adopted being house trained. I tried all the online advise on treats, grass pad, 10-20 trips outside daily, setting spots to use for potty and poopy, Thermon to entice to use grass pad, left enclosed porch open to pee or poop, bell on door. Nothing worked and she still peed anywhere she wanted. I contacted them for help, got threatened with lawyer. No refund and they listed dog as house trained again, so new owners will be misled. They are asking for same $200 fee from new owners. I feel like I was scammed. I have all emails and pictures of her not using grass pee pad. I would not use a rescue again. I would not recommend this one at all. I will file complaints to state and city shortly. read more

If I could give negative stars for this unprofessional establishment, I would. Hurricane Dorian is our (my young daughter and me) first Hurricane by ourselves and after Governor De Santis told Floridians to evacuate yesterday, the plane tickets began flying off of the shelves. So I made plans for our fur baby to stay here with someone safe and then I booked our flights out of town before everything sold out again. However, those plans fell through after our friend decided to also evacuate, leaving me to google, "Hurricane Pet Shelters" for our fur baby and Pet Rescue by Judy popped up at the top of the search. Judy picked up the phone and began to interrogate me in the rudest, most hostile manner imaginable! While asking me a bunch of questions in the first 90 seconds, her worst one was, "Ummmm... and you didn't stop to think about finding shelter for your pet before you decided to go on vacation?" I couldn't believe it. All she had to say was that she was not interested in helping us and/or that it was a mistake that her shelter came up in the Hurricane pet shelter search. I don't don't know what type of establish this is, but I was prepared to pay for boarding. Not anymore and NEVER AGAIN! How can anyone claim to care about animals, yet be so soul-less and cold-blooded? I regretted having her on speaker and my daughter listening to that woman being so nasty. Is there any rating lower than 1 star? PetRescueByJudy certainly deserves it. They are super racist, unpolite, rude, aggressive, and discriminatory and abusive with elderly and disabled people. They used the disabled parking spots to load and unload their dogs like those spots were created for their personal use. The attached photo is Judy Sarullo, the owner, who is very proud of breaking the law: The PetRescueByJudy vehicles were parked in the disabled spots to unload the dogs when we got there. We were forced to park across the road and walk to the show because they were using both spots in front of the O'Leary's Irish Pub. And we had three disabled humans with us, and permanent disabled car tag, and a Medical Four Wheel Walker Rollator among us. Here's the story: We took our elderly neighbor to see the dogs at this October 2nd Adoption Event and to buy an emotional support animal, but their refuse us their services because our friend is too old. According to PetRescueByJudy, our elderly friend didn't fit the PetRescueByJudy requirement BECAUSE OF HER AGE. And they were worried, and I quote, of she dying before the dog. Isn't that a bit rude? They stated that her apartment building didn't allow dogs over 50 pounds. This was a lie. On top of that, they didn't know where she lived. We had brought our Lease Agreement, but no one was trying to have a conversation. We wondered about their assumption, and the PetRescueByJudy employees decided to turn her back on us and walked away. I sat down outside the pub, and the lady from the photo approached me and started insulting me, and then pushed me. Then a male PetRescueByJudy employee got on my face, insulted me too, and almost hit me. I was afraid that he would jump on me and punch me. They even went the extra mile and told the O'Leary's Irish Pub manager to kick us out of the area. And the O'Leary's Irish Pub went after us. I had asked for the menu and a glass of water, but never received anything. We also informed the manager about our previous conversation with PetRescueByJudy using the disabled parking spaces in front of his business, but he said it was not his responsibility. PetRescueByJudy is a bad place to get dogs. Nevertheless, their dogs are the best humans. read more

We adopted 2 cats from Pet Rescue by Judy. Our second cat got out the front door one hectic morning (It's tough as a single Mom with young kids getting out the door in the morning!) and we didn't realize it until we got home that evening. It was traumatic and we immediately started asking neighbors, posting fliers, and calling locals vets and shelters. It turns out that our cat made it back to Pet Rescue by Judy. Judy called me the day that we were unaware that Joey (our cat) was missing. She said it was National Cat Day (it was not) and she was checking how Joey was doing. I told her he was doing great completely unaware that he had gotten out of the house. The next day I called Judy again to let her know that Joey was missing and asked if she had him because by this point her phone call the day before seemed very odd. She lied to me about having Joey even after I told her that my two children were crying about him being lost. She then accused me of having Joey treated for a dog bite at a local vet that I never used. Joey was a strictly indoor cat with nothing but routine visits to the vet. I hung up the phone, left work and drove straight to their facility. Our Joey was there and terrified! The ladies had the NERVE to charge me a $60 rehoming fee and not once apologize for the lie. I went to her website that night to write a review and they had posted Joey up for adoption. They were planning to adopt our kitty out when we were begging to have him back. If I could give zero stars I would. Please do not adopt from this rescue facility unless you would like your family members pets stolen (and lied to about it). read more

I went to see if I could adopt a chihuahua. There were two women at the front. After standing in front of them for about 5 minutes, one finally looked up and with a disgusted face asked if she could help. They were not friendly at all. When I said I was interested in adopting a Chi, the young lady said I had to go to their website to see what's available and discouraged me from even looking at the number of dogs just sitting in the lobby. I felt like I was buying from Amazon. I had a similar experience when I went to adopt from the animal shelter in Sanford. I drove to the Miami shelter to see if I could find a small dog there. Thank you Judy for my Rosie. 6 months into having her, I don't think I could have found a more perfect dog for me. This organization does so much for animals and I am so grateful you all exist! When we came by, the pet rescue had brought a couple of dogs to a car dealership where she was trying to get more viewership for the animals they were adopting out. When I met my Rosie, she was very quiet and I remember telling Judy that it was great cause she didn't bark at all. Judy looked me straight in the eye and told me this dog definitely barks, sometimes she barks a lot. We adopted Rosie anyways, and she does bark a lot, and we love her so much we don't care. But I will always remember Judy's honesty about that situation. When I went to Paw park today like I do several times a week, my dog was approached by a guy who came to the dog park without a dog and he tossed a toy to try to get my dogs attention. When I asked him where his dog was , he told me he didn't have a dog and was a volunteer for the park. I told him that was almost the equivalent of going to a kids park and trying to coax a child with a lollipop. I told him to stay away from me and my dogs and he threatened me and said he'd do whatever he wanted and I couldn't do anything about it. When he finally did leave, he went across the street and returned with Judy herself and she attempted to read me the riot act but I shut that down immediately. She then started yelling at me and calling me named and actually made the statement that I was Old and Mean. If that isn't the pot calling the kettle black, I don't know what is. Then she called the police like I had done something wrong. I've heard about people who have found their missing dogs at her place of business which doesn't make it a rescue, it makes it a fencing ring for pets. There is no doubt in my mind this guy was trying to steal my dog for profit. This woman makes a lot of money off the backs of many animals misfortune. Update: Several months ago we had to say goodbye to our angel Sport. She lived 16 long years and had an amazing life but it was her time to go home. It was so tough on our family but we are so grateful for the long life she had for a dog and the precious time we had with her. And that's all thanks to Judy. Soon after, my boyfriend and I decided we were ready for a puppy of our own and of course we wanted to rescue. Judy was the first organization I thought of. One weekend when my boyfriend was at drill I went to one of their adoption events to see if they had any puppies available. I met 3 adorable little puppies that weren't available for adoption yet because they still needed to be fixed and have their shots. The following weekend we went to another Pet Rescue By Judy adoption event when my boyfriend was back so we could both meet the puppies. We found out the 3 puppies I met the weekend prior were actually a litter of 6. And that's when we met her. The sweet little girl who stole our heart, Gisella. Again, we couldn't take her home because she hadn't been fixed yet. But I checked Judy's website at least once an hour every day that following week until I saw her go up as available and we immediately applied. Given a lot of the reviews I had read here I was a little bit nervous but someone from Judy's quickly responded with a few additional pretty standard questions and we were quickly approved. They scheduled us for an appointment the following Saturday to meet with Judy and bring our baby home. Everything went very smoothly and we gave this sweet little angel a forever home for Christmas. We renamed her Bella because she's so beautiful Several months later we don't know how we ever lived without her. She is such a part of our home. So THANK YOU THANK YOU again to Pet Rescue By Judy!!! A friend for life A truly wonderful place but then Judy is a truly wonderful person. This review is as much about Judy as her Pet Rescue place. This isn't just some dumping ground for unfortunate creatures, but a place where the animals are giving medical care, socialization and most of all love. Of course the goal is to find good homes for the critters but Judy doesn't just let anyone take them. A rather intensive adoption application is needed for any potential person who wants one of the animals and a bit higher fee is also charged. But the money goes into medical care for sick and injuries animals and you will be assured of getting a healthy and happy kitty or dog. The cats here have a nice life with lots of things to play on and a constantly flow of people that come in and visit. And of course Judy and her staff spend a whole lot of time spoiling the creatures. A wonderful place to check out a future family member. Most of the staff here is great and genuinely try's to help and comfort the animals that come through their door. Unfortunately, Judy is far from being a nice or merely a decent human. I had a stray kitten that I spent all day trying to rescue that was in dire need for help. I called Judy for guidance as to how to care for this kitten and was met with a level of unwarranted rudeness that completely caught me off guard. All I was trying to do was help an animal, something that Judy has branded herself around, and I just felt like I was being scolded and yelled at by an older lady when I had hardly even gotten the first sentence out of my mouth explaining my situation. I can only speak from my own experience, but have heard horror stories from personal friends and people within my network. She's simply just not a nice or kind human. If this is how she treats humans, I can only imagine how she treats the animals that are in her care. read more

My heart broken, never imagined I'd have to give up my babies, they needed special care because I adopted them from the South Korean Meat Market where a horrible death was certain and so was further torture had they not been rescued. I was the only mommy these babies knew and Judy was the only one that I trusted to care for my babies and to re home them. This rescue is very thorough in their adoption process and that is why I reached out to this rescue. They welcome volunteers and if your child needs community hours for school, contact them. You will never be rich working in rescue, it takes a true passion and love for the animals to work in rescue. We are coming up on the one year mark for having our adopted pup, Ralphie, and we could not imagine life without him. Thanks to the great people at PRBJ that rescued his Mom, who was turned into a kill shelter while very pregnant. PRBJ oversaw the birth of the litter and fostered the puppies until they were all adopted. These pups knew nothing but love from the time that they were born, instead of the sad alternative seen by many dogs and cats. The adoption process started on the PRBJ website, where we filled out an application and fell in love with our pup's picture before meeting him. The foster moms oversaw the last stages of our adoption and helped to screen us, they were very informative and had a wonderful rapport with the pups. I attended several workshops at the PRBJ storefront at the Oviedo Mall, which were helpful for a new puppy owner and gave our 8 week old pup a chance to socialize with dogs of various ages. The storefront also had new toys and various items for sale, at a deep discount. If you are considering adopting an animal, please check out this great organization. If I could give them less than one star I would. Long story short, here is the email I sent them after 1 month of trying to adopt one of their many dogs: "Well, I'm sorry to hear that. We are all very disappointed that you couldn't help us. It seemed like you were all very short with us and didn't really give us a chance to give one of those puppies a nice home. Our neighborhood restrictions are not as strict as you're making them seem and we believe there are puppies there within our restrictions that we could adopt. But 'unfortunately' you are not giving us a fair chance in the adoption process. We can find a puppy to rescue and love elsewhere, and I wish luck to the ones you are denying that love to. read more

We heard about Petrescuebyjudy many years ago. We found our fur love from this place. It was our first time getting a dog from her. I recommend anyone looking for a pet to go to this place. The girl at the front desk showed us dogs that we were looking for on their computer. Once Frankie's photo came up, he was the one...he is amazing and we are so blessed to have him in our life. The people that run this place was friendly. Judy handed me Frankie in my arms when we came to pick him up to take home. She takes pets to shows to allow anyone looking for a pet a chance to have hands on connection time with them prior to application because that is the best way to really know if the pet one is seeking for will have a connection with them. My wonderful yellow lab sisters were rescued by Judy's organization nurtured to health and adopted by me 9 years ago. Adopted our new baby from Judy today! We were going to get a dog from the county shelter, but wanted a place that would be able to give us a little more information. Judy and her staff were very helpful from start to finish. The best part of the process was being able to take out our potential rescue for the day. We took her for a walk by the lake and to a outdoor restaurant. We were also able to get some basic supplies (harness, crate, leash etc.) to get us started with our new dog.
