On September 9th, my family adopted two kittens, Aren and Delle, from this rescue. We were told they had recently recovered from an upper respiratory infection and were now healthy. Unfortunately, less than a month later, our sweet Delle passed away on October 10th from FIP -- a fatal illness that likely developed from an infection that hadn't fully resolved. We followed all the recommended vet care and sought immediate treatment the moment she showed signs of illness, but despite every effort, she declined quickly. It was a deeply traumatic and heartbreaking experience for our family -- and for Aren, her sister, who is now grieving as well. I want to make it clear that I deeply understand and appreciate the mission behind animal rescues and the challenges they face in caring for so many animals in need. My intention in sharing this isn't to criticize, but to hopefully encourage more thorough medical reviews and communication before adoption. Even small improvements in diligence could help prevent another family from being blindsided by such a devastating situation. I emailed the rescue on October 11th, not in anger but simply to inform them of what happened. Unfortunately, I never received a response. Delle was deeply loved and is deeply missed. I truly hope that sharing her story leads to positive changes for future adoptions -- and to more happy, healthy forever homes.

We got our sweet girl Winnie from them 4 years ago and I have been waiting to share our…read moreheartbreaking story. Winnie had issues since the day we got her. She was advertised as a "yellow lab and golden retriever mix", but a DNA test told us later that she was more pitbull than anything else. She was sweet and wanted love, but immediately we noticed she was anxious, rough, and neurotic. Despite keeping her on a strict schedule with regular exercise, training, and routines, she was always "wound up" and could not relax. She would pace back and forth, whine and pant, tremble, refuse food, vomit randomly, and soil her bed constantly (despite being well house trained). She was aggressive to our cats and never let them come out of the bedroom. We got a second dog (from a different rescue) who she loved at first, but some time after getting him she began to attack him randomly with no warning. My husband and I were both injured trying to break her off of him. We paid for in-home behavioral trainers to work with her. We got her on psychiatric medications (including trazodone, Prozac, and others). We eventually had to crate-and-rotate the dogs and muzzle train Winnie. It was a miserable existence for everyone. Our vet did multiple evaluations and always determined she was physically healthy. We reached out to Anna with Save a Life multiple times throughout this experience and she was always dismissive and brushed us off. They posted Winnie as a re-home, but of course we never heard anything. We did everything we could to try to find her a pet-free and kid-free home, which we thought could help her. We contacted countless rescues, organizations, and rehoming websites. No rescue would take her. She had 2 potential adopters that we found on websites, but both backed out. Eventually she tried to attack my brother (who she knew and loved since the day we got her) and given that this was her first attempt at attacking a human, we made the devastating decision to choose behavioral euthanasia. We had a wonderful vet who advised us she likely had severe mental and/or neurological disorders and would likely never be able to be a happy dog regardless of her environment. She told us euthanasia was the compassionate choice to make. The process was heartbreaking. After she was gone, my husband who had always felt a special connection with her, cried for months and still cries if we talk about her. We loved her SO much and tried everything we could to try to help her. It was a torturous 4 years with a devastating end that has scarred us deeply. We spent thousands of dollars on training, meds, vets, and equipment, and SO much of our time, love, and care on her. I know we did the right thing, but it was a terrible experience to live through. Please do not adoption from this "rescue". There are so many red flags. My guess is that they likely go around to local shelters and take all the cute puppies they think they can sell easily. Then they have these mass "adoption events" where they pressure people to choose dogs quickly without being able to spend time with them or meet them ahead of time. This way, any illnesses or behavioral issues are not noticed and they walk away with quick, easy cash. Anyone who knows anything about dogs should have seen Winnie's severe behavioral issues before we adopted her. This organization is negligent at best, and at worst shows a complete disregard for the safety of the families they adopt out to and for the dogs themselves. Rest in peace to our sweet Winnie. We will never forget you.

It is very…read moreobvious to me that they really do place the animals & rehoming the animals above everything. They were prompt to tell me that Big Red's status was clear immediately after his neutering & that our application process/vetting was done. I filled the paperwork Sunday, that same week Big Red was neutered Wednesday/Thursday, and when they reopened on Friday we picked him up promptly at 10am he was ready & raring to go & be a part of his new little family. Big Red, (now Frohike) - is a fighter. Audrey showed me photos of when they picked him up & I was shocked - his eye was completely swollen shut, he was thin, & sickly. He's got a wonky eye that is completely cosmetic, but even in that imperfection he's perfect. He's a loving, sweet, healthy little guy & he completely acclimated to our Orlando Cat Cafe alumni, Bart (now Reznor). They take the most severe cases & are a no-kill Shelter. That's a lot of responsibility for a shelter to ensure the animals go to the right homes. Yes their pricing is more expensive but who can place a price on good care for the animals & the responsible vetting to make sure they go to a forever home? Our cost was the same as Bart from the Orlando Cat Cafe - it was $150, but I am confident of the care they put into Big Red. It was worth every penny & I know it will go towards that awesome campus & medical care & shelter for the animals. I will always recommend them if you want to see the true nature of your future pet & ensure they are a perfect fit for your family.

They had 25 cats in the cafe at the time and while some were shy and more reserved, many of them were active, playful, and friendly. They adored our yoga mats, and immediately claimed them for themselves (as you can see from the pictures). The cat area is always clean and tidy, the cafe offers comfortable seating and free WIFI, and the overall vibe is open and welcoming. We were so excited to finally visit this cat cafe, we booked 1 hours for 3 people for $45 and we were also planning on eating at the cafe as well. The attendant did tell us as we were checking in that recently some of the cats were adopted so there a lot of newer cats that were shy. We didn't see that as many cats as we were expecting and just could not get over the strong pungent smell. It was very very bad. Let me tell you BAD!!!! SMELL!!! . The attendant was very kind and understanding and immediately offered us a refund when we said we were sorry but can't do it , he said he understands some people are just sensitive to cat smells, this was not just cat smell. Never got to the food because the idea of eating was out of the question. 3 stars because I love the idea and I think there's lots of room for improvement and I love what they're doing for the cats. But for me, it's a no.

Susan was incredibly helpful with answering any emails I sent and was very responsive. This was my first time fostering and it was on a Saturday morning that I saw some puppies needed a foster, so I did not have any pet supplies at home on hand the same day. After two weeks they were much bigger and ready to be adopted! I returned them back to Susan at the shelter and I was so happy I did it and plan to foster again. They are a fantastic organization and I highly recommend going to the Orlando Pet Alliance if you are looking to adopt a dog or cat. I needed to get Willow spayed but needed to know the procedure and cost and from the website described it's an exam first before any work is done. No pricing or questions answered online only the bounce back and forth. I made a blind appointment (online only) and went to the Sanford location. They told me the exam was 35.00 BUT WAIT AN ADDITIONAL 150.FOR BLOOD WORK IS NEEDED. This only took 10 minutes in and out, great when I went to checkout, the girl asked for 235.00! I clearly heard 185.00. Then she said your dog is over 5 years old (I TOLD HER THAT SHE WAS BEFORE WE AGREED ON THE VISIT never mentioningthe +50.00) and the blood work would be an additional 50.00. You can see clearly see the road we are going down. I said "no I'm paying 185.00 like you originally told me!". She apologized and asked for the higher balance which I wouldn't have minded if she just gave me the proper quote in the beginning. I refused and asked for the manager. She went to the back and came forward and told me the manager was busy! I just knew we're going to have an issue here. I asked for someone to talk to. Meantime I was very calm and polite but adamantly courteous. Finely after her returning a second time she said she could remove the additional balance. I told her thank you and proceeded to pay. She noted the balance was now 265.00. Like Whaaa... She said I'd have to pay half the procedure before we can book the operation. She said maybe next week after the blood work is reviewed in 2 days. So I'm paying 185.00 and not knowing what the blood work is, and I need that info before we can even do the procedure? Yes! she might be to old she said. OMG!! I told her "I'll pay what I owe you, and call me in 3 days with the results. She agreed. TWO WEEKS LATER. After numerous calls for my results and no emails or call backs. Calling Anna the AI took all my information again and again I even tried to spoof the AI telling her I have a large monetary donation for Pet Alliance but three days later....NO CALLS! So I took a morning off and went up there to speak to the head of the clinic (not mentioning any names) and I got a circling of the wagon by the Indians. HER explanation was "The doctor was out for A WEEK, he couldn't do any operations". So no results, no paperwork, no money back and I'm out the door. Thank God I never paid for the operation and used a CC. MORAL OF THIS STORY....Get you quote in advance. Ask all the right questions and don't assume. If you have an issue after surgery or an ailment for your Furry friend could you get ahold of someone there for help maybe an emergency number? Any questions about add on pricing? NO while I was waiting to be seen, a man walked in with a HUGE bag of dog food . He came back out yelling "I can't even get a receipt for my donation" and walked out with the bag!. Upper management listen. If your to big for your pants remember one moldy grape keeps people from buying the vine. I'm just a small nobody and who cares. I could have taken my pup to LA. Underhill animal clinic where all 3 of my Dutch Shepards have gone, but (I thought) would have liked the funds go to a good cause in our community! Maybe not? That's my story and I wish you well!
