Was very disappointed in the response given by the employees when we came in concerned with some chew bones purchased at Pet Supply Plus. We have show dogs and sometimes treat the dogs with a hard bone to chew on. There are a number of places that sell the whit bones sometimes slathered with gravy and the dogs love them. They are very hard and safe for dogs. But PSP has a similar bone that seems to disintegrate and splinter. These bone shards could become lodged in a dogs throat or puncture the stomach or intestines causing bleeding or worse. The pieces end up looking something like splintered chicken bones although these are beef. Seems to me they coul be very dangerous to dogs. I am sure no one wants anything bad to happen to their dog so I would highly recommend not buying this type of bone. The employees didn't seem to care and just stood and stared when we tried to persuade them to pull the bones from the shelves. They seemed rather disinterested in fact and offered no apology for the product. So this is a bad experience from a store I used to like. I hope no one loses a dog because of a splintered bone in the throat. read more

Before Pet Supplies Plus came to Cedar Falls a short time ago, I had never even heard of them. A quick glance and an even quicker Google search revealed what appeared to be just another big company with many locations strewn about the country. So, naturally, I didn't go in expecting anything special. Well, every great now and then something comes along and surprises you in a very big way. Suffice it to say, I haven't written a review for anything in a long time, but came back to Yelp just to give these guys the shout out they deserve. While I cannot speak for the company as a whole, the staff at the Cedar Falls store went well beyond impressive. We came to the store, considering bringing home a new conure (bird). The first thing that stood out about the staff was that, by the time we reached the back of the store, four people had greeted us and offered us help. They all seemed very genuine, and none of them were pushy. That, alone, says a great deal about a business. But, more importantly, it became apparent that these folks really care about the animals. The guy who introduced us to the bird had been training and socializing it, and it had obviously received a lot of TLC in its time at the store. We spoke to several other team members as well, all of whom seemed knowledgeable, and they were all very familiar with the bird's personality. They shared stories about the bird, having all spent time with it. In the end, when we decided to bring it home with us, they were all gathered and seemed sad that it was leaving them. These are the kinds of people all pet stores need to hire. It has only been a day since we brought home this little conure (we're still trying to come up with a name), and it already feels right at home and has been sitting happily on my shoulder as I have been writing this review. It is very relaxed, affectionate, and has taken it upon itself to start grooming us. I have had many birds over the years, from many places, but none that have come home this friendly and social. Just noticed that I never updated my review and wanted to do that. I now buy all my dog and cat food through this store. At the time of my first review, they didn't carry my dog food brand but about a month or two after my review (both on yelp and through their emailed surveys) my brand suddenly became available. So I feel like they're responsive to feedback. They didn't have nail trimming at the time of my first review and they offer that now (it's a weekday morning though so I've never been able to try it). read more

Out of all the different pet stores I have been to, this is by far the best one! First, the staff is great! They are very knowledgeable about the products. Not just knowledgeable but they actually care for what you are seeking and I mean by this they just don't say I recommend this....they first ask what type of pet you have and habits they have. This in turn leads you to find the best product they have. Second, the variety and cost of products is great! We have two cats and we have been looking for a cat tower. At most stores these have a very high price tag. At Pet Supplies they have a variety of towers and very well priced. The self service dog wash is not something I have ever seen at a pet store. This is a great way to get your dog washed with out all the hassle of trying to get your dog in a tub or clog up your sinks. Love how they have samples for your pets to try if you bring them in as well. Animals can be just as picky as humans when it comes to food. This way you don't have to buy a $20 bag of treats and the animals don't like it. read more

I will never give my dog a bath at home again! Love the dog wash, only $5.00 if you buy the punch card. Nice selection of shampoos and water is just the right temperature for a bath. My dog is not a fan of the dryer, but the towels provided were super absorbent. I usually apologize to the staff for the hair (big shedder) and mess but everyone is super nice. Totally worth the money, considering a plumber would be $100.00 plus unclogging the drain from my shed monster. I would suggest hooks to hang leashes and collars. Otherwise everything was great! read more

Pretty good prices with large selection. Clean store. Reason for 2 stars is every fish I've bought from them didn't last longer than a week. I've had fish for several years and know how to take care of them. In the tank I have setup now I've had fish in it for well over a year and thriving, but I put in one of these fish from this store and it dies. Had a couple die overnight. read more

This store was very dirty! I have been there 2 times in the last month and it was dirty both times. Plus I think they are very expensive compared to other places in town. I don't think I will go back. read more
