Love this store! I go here all the time to pick up food and snacks for my pup. The employees are always nice and the store is always clean. However, I will say that the new Self-Serve Dog Wash isn't practical at all. I was excited to use the new wash area and was left disappointed. A few things to note: - There's no grip for the dog in the bath. My dog was slipping around the whole time and digging his claws into the tile/plaster tub. I wish they put some sort of rubber mat down. - The baths don't have that half wall like a traditional tub. It's more like a counter to put your dog on. It looks really nice and it's easy to get the dogs in but I was left soaking wet since the water was just splashing back at me. Even with the apron on. - The hooks with the slip leads are just too close to the corners of the walls. It left my dog standing and sitting in awkward positions. Maybe they should add a hook towards the middle so there's more options. I used to come all the time to bathe my dog but now I just can't see myself using the new washing area again :/ I will definitely continue to shop their selection of food, treats, and toys though! read more

I've been taking my dogs here for years and love the clean, reasonably priced self-service dog wash. However, getting an $18 nail trim/file, now requires a $5 minimum tip (about 30%). While Kayla did a great job on my dog's nails, I disagree with this new policy and will probably get nail trims elsewhere. read more

I was looking at the pets when I saw a Guinea pig lying in a weird position. It did not look alive so my dad said, I normally don't do this, as he tapped on the glass. The guinea pig didn't move so we got the manager. As we were leaving we stopped by the fish tank and we saw 3 dead fish. We will not go there again. Went here a few months for the first time. Not a very large selection of fish. This place is tiny. They do offer a periodic clinic for your pets to get updated care ie rabies shots.. Very clean with friendly staff and a nice layout. Asked a simple question about the type of dog food I was seeking and the associate was unsure and didn't seek further assistance. Their prices are a bit high for some things but they have good prices on small fish tanks and they own brand of Timothy hay! They also do grooming and have a self serve dog wash! read more

The recent upgrade in selection and care in the fish section is pretty remarkable. I'm running six different aquariums at the moment and things have frankly been somewhat sad in Madison since Living Art Aquarium shut down. It is completely unfair to expect any non-fully dedicated store to match up to Living Art Aquarium but the upgrades have fully brought their level up to fill the gap between typical chain store and dedicated aquariast store while actually having as good as or better prices than the average chain store. And the staff, huge shoutout to Johnny and Lauren, are fantastic and a joy to talk to. read more

I gave been going to PSP since they opened. They used to have $5 toenail trims on Tuesday and that was fantastic. They have discontinued that and now trims are at least $14.00 per dog and it takes the groomers a total of 5 minutes to do both of my dogs $28 for 5 minutes. The cashier then asks if I want to tip . This practice makes me uncomfortable and I expressed this to the cashier to which she replied management requires them to ask for tips. This was confirmed by a manager named Barb who informed me customers "forget" to tip. I told her if I was making lawyer wages I would not ask for a tip. $28 for 5 minutes = $336 per hour. Barb informed me that all groomers were commissioned based. I feel bad that PSP does not pay their groomers enough that they need to beg for tips. I have previously waited tables and bartended for many years - never did I "ask" for a tip or expect it. I am disappointed in Pet Supplies Plus business model. Will be looking for a different groomer for sure. read more

Amy is the literal best at Pet Supplies Plus. We bring our dog here so often that she knows him, his name, and our name. He's comfortable with her only and I cannot recommend her enough! The store employee, Alex Otter, provided me with the worse customer service experience I have ever had at a pet store. I bought three self service dog baths after the dogs played in mud today. I explained to the cashier, Katie, that one of my dogs is reactive to other dogs so I was trying to go in the bath area when it was quiet. I was planning on washing the dogs at separate times but Katie said I could have the room to myself to wash all three dogs after the current dogs in there were done with their bathes. Katie even offered to watch my two dogs while I brought the third dog in from the car (50 degrees outside). I brought in all three dogs at the same time only because I thought it would be safe to do so, having the room to myself. Katie said I could lock the door when I asked. I locked the door and started washing down my largest dog. At that time, Alex Otter brought keys to the door lock, unlocked the door, and said I could not have the room to myself and the door could not be locked. She was not kind about the interaction; her tone of voice was rude. I tried explaining to Alex the things I had talked with Katie about. Alex's respond was, I have to leave the second bath open for other customers. I didn't know what to do because my other two dogs were running free in the room, one is a fearful foster dog that could bolt. There was not a place to tether the dogs. I mentioned this to Alex as a concern if someone opened the door and I was met with the same rude tone and the same blanket statement about how the second bath had to stay open. My large dog was already full of soap by the time Alex told me I couldn't have the room alone so my plan was to wash the dogs as quickly as possible because the store wasn't busy and I thought I would be uninterrupted. One of my little foster dogs is terrified of people. I've had her for two weeks and she has finally started trusting me in the last couple days. I got through washing two dogs as quickly as I could. I saved my fearful foster dog for last. At that time, a woman came to the door with a giant breed dog and my reactive dog went crazy barking, which put my little foster in a state of panic as I was washing her. I asked the woman to give me 5 minutes and she could have the room without my dogs but she insisted on coming in. I was worried about a dog fight. My little foster dog curled into a ball in the corner of the sink, trembling and whimpering. I was so mad at myself for letting the situation get out of control. I should have rinsed my first dog off and asked for a refund. I took my foster dog out without finishing the bath and removed the dogs from the building as quickly as possible. In closing, I have some customer service tips for Alex Otter. Possible alternate responses could have been: "I'm sorry. We shouldn't lock this door but my employee didn't realize it when she said you could have the room to yourself so just this one time." Or "I'm sorry. The second bath has to stay open for other customers. Can I offer you a refund on two of the baths you didn't do yet because you were told differently?" I work in customer service; counterproductive rudeness is not tolerated at my place of business, especially from leadership who should be setting a good example for other employees. I really hope Katie is not affected negatively by my comments because she was just trying to be helpful and kind. Perhaps Alex could learn a thing or two about customer service from Katie. read more

I called & talked to a young lady Mary Kate {very helpful on the phone} ordered on line, and went to pick up from 1-1/2 hours away. She called to say order was ready, sent a email also to me. Got there, everything was ready, and treated me like I mattered, which was a pleasant welcome. Went in & looked around for the first time. I have been to Pet Smart, the store is nice. But Pet Supplies Plus is just as nice. I checked prices , and there both good. But Pet Supplies Plus had more of what I was looking for. I wanted a fish tank & all the supplies that I would pick out myself, not a complete set up kit . The store was clean, & I talked to a few employees,{ they were all down to earth & very helpful} So ,, They have a lot of nice things, I saw a lizard I want to get, a couple of doves, a snake, and a couple of nice turtles, and of course fish. If you like animals & critters, I don't know what more you would want, {also tons of cat & dog items} It was a nice Adventure, an Adventure I look forward to taking again. I had a terrible time trying to book our dog for grooming here. Marci was recommended to us and we talked to her on the phone and set up an appointment for a groom only to have her call us a few days later asking us to "text" in pics of our dog. She then said that we had to schedule an appointment in two weeks first, before the scheduled groom appointment, so she could "evaluate" our dogs coat and just do a shampoo. This was an added expense that we've never dealt with at any grooming place before and when we said we couldn't afford this extra shampoo appt she then told us she wouldn't keep our grooming appointment. To make matters WORSE.. suddenly her Lead, Deb started texting us arguing with us and getting all involved in the matter! We have no idea who this Deb is and certainly didn't text her - or desire texts FROM her. It was all really unprofessional to say the least! read more

We started coming to this location to wash our dog after a fun day at the dog park. We are rewards members and always buy the self dog wash package. One day by chance we forgot our punch card. When i asked if they could look it up I was stared at like I was speaking a foreign language by the new cashier. He said "him the manager is in the back you will have to talk to them." When I got to the back office the manager, Ginny was in the office just talking with another employee. When I was finally noticed and explained the situation she said sorry but we can't do anything. I said so what would happen if I lose that card and I still have 4 washes on it, am I just out of luck? To which she responded, "yes" I said really in 2019 you don't have a system in place to keep track of that like a swipe card. She didn't respond. I love this pet store. Everyone is always so friendly and I love the amazing selection of dog treats. I believe they recently upped their game on the cat treats as well. I remember being disappointed around my cat's birthday because they didn't have many options for treats for her. My husband and I were here doing some Xmas shopping this week and there was much more to choose from. So we appreciated that. The more I type, the more I sound like a crazy cat lady I sound... but that's fine. Otherwise, I would like to see more medium/large dog sizes for coats and sweaters. So many cute things for toy breeds, but not much for dog sized dogs (if you know what I mean). Lastly, I absolutely love the dog wash. It's so convenient and reasonably priced (especially if you sign up for the dirty dog discount where you prepay for so many washes). I'm glad that such a great pet store opened up in this area. I like this place because it is really close to my house and I almost always have a coupon. They have a large assortment of food, treats and equipment. On 8/31/2017 we purchased a $52.73 2 door wire crate for our son's cat. He decided he didn't need it so we drove across town and tried to return the crate (unopened). We discovered we left the receipt at home but we asked if we could return it without the receipt. The cashier said they could look up the transaction if we are a Rewards Member. We aren't so I totally accept the cashier couldn't do the refund without the receipt. We found the receipt a few days later and returned to the store to get the refund. The same cashier assisted me remembered me from the last visit. She began the refund but indicated the amount was above her approval level so a manager needed to be called. This person said I could not get a refund because it was now past a 30 day return policy. She told me there is no way they can do a refund and told me I could try to put the crate on Craigs List to recover some of the cost. I find it difficult to believe a company does not have the capability to override the 30 day refund policy given the fact my original return date was within the 30 day period and the cashier remembered my first attempt. I'd guess the second attempt exceeded the policy by less than a week. Most likely I spent more time and gas on my 2 trips across town than the value of the crate. This is the worst customer service and lack of flexibility I've ever received from any business! I will never set foot in this store again. read more
