I was shopping at Kroger today when I noticed this pet store just down the row. I looked it up on Yelp and saw 5 star ratings so I decided to give it a try. I was delighted when I went inside. I was greeted immediately by the cashier. I walked around the store and found the cleanest and neatest pet store I have ever experienced!! Every employee I walked by greeted me and offered help. At first, I was just taking it all in. When I got to the dog supplements there was a sales girl, Katie, helping another lady but she greeted me as I walked by her. When she finished up, she came right over and offered me her assistance. She answered my questions and was honest!! She suggested an option that would save me a ton of money over what I usually buy, don't they usually just try to get you to spend a ton of cash? As I was checking out, I asked the cashier to see the store manager so I could tell them what a great experience I had in the store and she told me that the girl that had been helping me on the floor was actually the store manager! I figured that telling my fellow Midlothian shoppers about this place was the next best thing! Great store and a great staff, guess it starts at the top and works it's way down here! read more

I absolutely love this pet store! ! The employees are so friendly and so helpful with literally any question I've had. About a year ago I bought Marilyn my dusky conure knowing nothing about parrots. The manager Jessie and two other employees helped and walked around with us shopping for like an hour explaining everything diet,toys, cleaning. A few months later we got Aubrey a green cheeked conure from them .They offer treats and food in bulk for great prices. When we come in everyone remembers us . If we have the birds with us they hold them and if we don't they ask "where are the babies". We were just shopping there tonight getting food and stuff and asked about bird heaters for the cages an item they don't carry they said figure out what model I want and they will try to order it for me. I mean they go above and beyond helping their customers and truly care about animals. They are all pet owners everyone knows something about all different animals. I really love this store. They have the best selection of dog food from any other pet store in Richmond from what I can tell and the best part is I've noticed that they keep their prices just a smidge lower than the big box stores BUT they put it on clearance. Whenever I walk in and see my favorite brand of dog food has a "Clearance 25% or even 50% off" sticker I feel like it is Christmas. Everyone is always helpful. I can't remember a time when I've been in there and I wasn't a) greeted when I walked in b) stopped and chatted up by associates trying to help or offering assistance/suggestions and c) had my purchases carried to my car for me! Seriously, they carry your dog food to your car for you! Like another reviewer said, the location doesn't do this store justice, but I am more than happy to drive four extra minutes to get superior prices and service. read more

This place doesn't feel like the typical pet store. The people that work here actually want to help their customers. They are friendly and knowledgeable. There was an item I was looking for that they don't carry but the girl that was helping me called the store manager, who came and took a special order from me. When the product came in they called me. When I picked it up they offered to do a standing order so that I never run out again. This place is too good to be true and it's in my own backyard! The store is beautiful, the employees are helpful, the selection is fabulous and it's even got a grooming salon! It's a hidden gem tucked in the Shoppes at Bellgrade. If you are sick of the big chain stores that are dirty and have employees that aren't helpful, you have to check this place out! You won't be sorry!!! read more

I visited PSP for the first time a week after it opened. We went to meet a dog we were interested in adopting at an event there. After falling in love with Vegas I went to do a little shopping for my new friend. Pricing was FANTASTIC, the selection was great, staff was super friendly & way more helpful than the other two big chain pet supply stores. Needless to say I have been a regular customer since & tell everyone I know about the store. I do think corporate sort of missed the mark with the location. If I had not gone there specifically for an adoption event I would have never heard about the store. Iv'e not seen commercials or advertising for the store either. It is like a garden of Eden for animals lovers & hidden away for only a few special people to find. read more

I have been going to the 2 major pet store chains for years. But ever since they opened this Pet Supplies Plus near me, I actually enjoy this store better. We have a mix of pets. Two small dogs, and my kids have a lizard and a fish. I can get everything I need all in one stop, just like at the other stores. Even grooming. But what strikes me as different about this place is the people. I'm always greeted when I come in and there is always someone available to get crickets or anything else I need. The store is definitely smaller than the other places, but I think that's a good thing. I don't like to have to go on a manhunt to track down an employee or something I need. read more

Knowledgable, friendly staff. They confirmed by phone they had the dog food I wanted since I was coming from the Tappahannock area. When I got to the store, they didn't just say it was down a particular aisle. They said, "Oh, it's right down here" and walked to its location in the store. Then, they offered to pull it off the shelf (26 lbs.) and place it in my cart for me, even though I'm a capable 6' tall male. The checker was thorough and polite, too. great neighbor store carries most everything I need for my fur babies and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeabl.
