Went in for a pick up delivery today for my dog food thinking everything goes smooth, usually friendly encounters with the cashier or whoever is working there but today was a little different. I pick up my dog food once a month usually so I have been going there for the past 7months. But today I went in tried picking up my dog food which my sister ordered, but the girl in the front was just completely rude. No, greetings or hi how can I help you and as soon as I walked in she completely looked at me different. Regardless I came in walked up and said I needed to pick up my dog food, she asked can I get a last name. Usually I order my food online myself so knowing my sister bought it this time I used my last name and completely forgot she has gotten married recently and changed her last name. So when I gave her my last name the girl in the front looked at me like I'm crazy but I showed her screenshots with the order number and receipt that shows everything. She completely ignored that and asked for the last name so I just called my sister resolved it and gave her the right last name. After I said the last name she just stares at me for a second gives me a weird look and turned to look at her co worker then she kind of slowly turned around as she's hesitant to give me the dog food. When she did give me the dog food nothing was said no thank you or anything. Kind of sad I've been getting my dog food here for about half a year now and this one incident will have me look for another place to get my dog food from. Maybe try hiring people that will have them come back and not feel uncomfortable JUST TO PICK UP DOG FOOD can't imagine walking around asking for help about food with the kind of enthusiasm that the employee gives off. RedRidge Pet Market, located in the West End in a shopping center at the intersection of John Rolfe Parkway and Ridgefield Parkway, is locally owned by some wonderful pet lovers, and they have created a very cute and quaint shop specializing in brands of dog food and cat food that you won't find in the large chains of pet supply stores. They also have a wide selection of supplements, chew treats, toys, and pet accessories. As much stuff they carry, it amazes me how neat and organized the store is. It never feels crowded or messy, it's fun to just walk around and look at everything, the staff are very friendly and genuinely helpful. The owners are very knowledgeable about their products and have chosen top-quality brands to carry in their store. They pay close attention to pet food recalls and they will even alert you if they learn about any issues with the products that they carry. I have a dog with a liver problem and my vet recommended a supplement, only place in Richmond I could find it was at RedRidge. When I went to purchase it, they did not have it in stock, but they ordered it right away and it only took a couple of days and I was receiving a call to let me know it was available for pickup. They also have a rewards program, so each time you go, you are closer to earning a discount on a future purchase. If you sign up for their email alerts you get to find out about sales and events that they hold in their store, including nail trimmings, seasonal sales events, and they also hold a monthly "pack walk" at Deep Run Park, which is great for socialization of your dogs and meeting other people who also love dogs. (Unless things have changed you must sign up for the pack walk at the store and there is a small fee per dog.) I love the Mom & Pop stores, as sometimes you can find a better deal, and find something which you cannot find in the BIG box stores... And this is the case here. We have a NEW Pet store which just opened, and they carry a lot of the Natural Food for both Dogs & Cats. In addition, they have great extras like Natural Shampoos and other items which you may need to have for your dog or cat. I noticed lots of Natural treats as you are seeing better food for your animal. I was glad to see some of the Blue Buffalo food in there for both Dog & Cat, as this is what I use for my dog. Their prices were within the same prices as Petsmart. The Manager/Owner could not be more helpful as he answered all of my questions. Also, he did let me know, you can bring your pet into the store. I like that, as I know my dog loves to shop. lol So, if you are in the area or live nearby... stop in. They have lots to offer, and I look forward in returning myself. This has become our go-to place for everything for our two dogs. I trust these people. They carry only the best and have a wide selection of treats, dog food, toys, hygiene products. We've even done a training for our psychotic girl dog (long story but she's a rescue and was horribly abused). The staff is extremely knowledgeable and they worked with us as we tried to find the right food for our pets. They happily took back a couple of bags of food that my animals just wouldn't eat. I stopped in before getting pizza and this is a nice smaller store...they don't have much at all for small animals though but some essentials and products by Oxbow which is the best company for small animal food and health supplements. They have lots of things for dogs and cats and items on special. They also have a rewards program. Again not much for rabbits/Hamsters/birds/etc. but staff are very helpful and friendly though and this looks brand new so perhaps if they have more requests from other small animals owners, they might increase their offerings... read more

The holistic vet I am taking my cat to recommended Redridge Pet Market among other places for me to get quality natural food for my cat. Even though it's not close to me, I still stopped by a couple of days ago because of the great reviews I read, here on Yelp. When I entered the store, someone immediately greeted me and asked if I needed help, which I definitely did...with a paper in hand to give it away. lol The young man helped me find the brands I was looking for and educated me on the different forms of food, from the raw to freeze dried and kibble of course. I selected what I needed and he took it to the register while I just glanced around at the other items in the store. It has toys, litter boxes, etc., just as any other pet store. I did really like the actual premium natural food they offer, which consists of mostly protein instead of a bunch of processed food you find, even in prescription-based food regular vets tend to recommend. Also, the price of the food was consistent with other stores, which was a surprise, since I assumed it would be pricier. Definitely will be coming back here. read more

Keep giving them a try - especially after reading the raving reviews. Just moved here from out of state and have tried them 4-5 times. So far each time I've felt rushed (and mind you - maybe one other customer has been in there), talked over and felt I have inconvenienced them and now I've had to call 2x's for special ordered food that hasn't come in but yet I would never know that unless I called. I have supported this family owned business since it first opened. Mike the owner is fantastic and used to be there, available and when he was there the store was so much more customer service oriented. Now that he's not as available or visible the store has a terrible attitude. The store was built on personal service, taking your heavy bags of food to your car, being more approachable (often they can't be bothered) and they've always had a return policy that encourages you to return items without any issue. Last week I purchased two different strengths of CBD treats for my dog, at the advice of the employes. Throughout the years i have rarely returned an item and never new there was an exception to their return policy. It turns out the larger strength of CBD was wayyyy to strong and I am unable to use it. Today I went into the store to return it and was informed supplements are the exception no returned of any supplement that has been opend. I had I been aware of this exception I wouldn't have purchased two different strengths suggested by the employee. I've struggled with this store on and off for quite some time. Today was the last day of this struggle. supporting small businesses is important to me but if they wasn't support they should treat their customers appropriately. I've gone in to purchase dog food that thye've forgotten to order, I put up with the clicks of girls too bus chattng it up to help customers and to not offer to take heavy bags of food to the car. I have a horrible back and it's easier to have my food delivered than to go to the store. So, I've placed orders to avoid going into the store and not getting the assistance that they once were known for. I'm now why am I ordering through their delivery service when I can order online? Do they deserve the efforts I've gone through to support their small business? Today, not accepting the return for the supplement after recommending two different strengths is bad business. What I also found sad was the "manager" wouldn't tell me herself that they won't return the CBD treats. Instead she put that on the young girl behind the counter. I've got years and years of management/customer service experience and never would I allow another employee to so my dirty work, I'm done, Mike needs to spend more time in the store so that the level of service is back to the expectations he once set, nevermind the two older ladies and how cranky they are. I swear they act like you are doing them a favor by shopping there (one woman is his wife, God forbid she smile) but will happily take your money. I'm not the only one that feels this way. As fo rthe review talking about the food not being available due to lack of ordering I can say I have dealt with the same issue. It's just as easy to order online than to drive out of my way to support a business that just doesn't care. Very friendly staff who made us feel very welcome even on our first visit! They don't have a huge selection but what they have is quality. They're the only ones who carry Wild Calling canned cat food within a 100 mile of where we live and we're so thankful they have it!! Both times we've been, there have been people with large dogs in the store. They're very friendly but if you're terrified of dogs, you might want to check with the owners of the store beforehand. Unfortunately, pet nutrition is a lot like people nutrition, which means the usual authorities we trust (doctors, of people or pet variety) are way behind what we should be doing. Many veterinarians simply never learned nutritional science in school (or school was a long time ago), and are now too-often dependent on pet food suppliers for nutritional information. Like asking the wolf what the sheep need. After hours and hours of e-research, I found I had likely caused my cat's diabetes (with vet-prescribed, high cost specialty cat food), and that our trainer-prescribed dog food was likely to do the same for our yellow lab. Save yourself the time: just ask Mike. He will not only tell you what it took me hours to discover, but will give you great options to keep your pet healthy or address specific problems. Had been using this store for a few years. Was convenient and enjoyed supporting a local business owner. They stocked our food and every couple of weeks we would pick up a bag of dog food until one week they did not have it. I was told by the owner (Mrs.) that they had forgotten to reorder the food and would make sure it did not happen again. Left us in a pinch as we were out of food and had to go to three other vendors before finding what we needed. Two weeks later, went back to Redbridge and ran into the exact same problem. Same owner seemed unbothered by the fact we were left in a predicament and unwilling to accept responsibility for the problem. This place has excellent customer service. Every time I've walked in there I've been greeted and given assistance with choosing the right food for my cat. I've never felt like they were being pushy to try to get me to buy something, they were just giving me assistance with what would best help my cat. My cat has severe allergies and he had been pulling out his fur for a couple months because he was so itchy. I couldn't figure out what he was allergic to but finally tried the raw food diet that Redridge offers. I used the Primal Pronto raw food and he hasn't had any trouble since he's been on that food. They also have a great selection of Stella and Chewys, and a ton of other food. I recommend this place to any animal owner, but especially if you have an animal with a potential food allergy, try Redridge's raw/frozen food before wasting money taking your animal to the vet a bunch of times.
