This store is super hit or miss. I have zero issues when I come in, besides issues every single time the same cashier is there. Every time I come in, the cashier asks if I can use my rewards plus a discount. I never have a problem and cashier's honor it. This particular cashier consistently asks about it and everytime she gives me some kind of issue. This particular time, she refused to honor the advertisement on the wall. She asked about combining deals and military discount. I overhears them say it's fine on the radio, but she asked someone else and told me I had to choose the advertised price or the military discount. Awesome customer service from Ryan - he went above and beyond when we took our puppy in to purchase a harness. We had bought two others from two other companies and couldn't get the right fit. I was frustrated. Ryan came right over and offered us help. Not only did he have a lot of patience with our Puppy who was sooo full of energy, jumping and crawling on him, licking and just couldn't sit still but he managed to keep me from giving up! Aaaand we walked out of the store with just the right harness. On the way out we purchased a name tag and that was a struggle getting it out of the little plastic case, and once again Ryan popped around the corner and made sure it hung on our puppy's collar like it should. Bad: not much BUT THEY NEED to adjust the hours on the website to state that they close the do-it-yourself dog bath 1 hour before the store closes. Meaning you need to be done and out an hour before. I recently went there for pictures with Santa with my two dogs, not knowing one of my dogs hated the tile there, one of the staff members laid down as much mats as she could so my dog was able to see Santa. LOVE PSP stores! This is my favorite place to shop for my cats. The staff is so nice and helpful. I always get a nice greeting when I walk in. On the evening of Wed August 18th we adopted a kitten from Kitty City. She was a rescued feral kitten who was under weight but was given a clean health clearance and sent home with us. Thursday morning August 19th we noticed she was weak and sleeping a lot. She was eating and drinking fair but had diarrhea. I was concerned and called pet supplies plus, the 2 ladies I spoke with told me her behavior was normal because she was stressed being in her new surroundings. They suggested Tummy toppers and drops to help with the diarrhea which I purchased. Friday August 20th the kitten was exhausted a little lethargic, still eating fair but sleeping more than usual and still had diarrhea. Saturday morning August 21st, extremely concerned about the kitten, who was now extremely lethargic and didn't want to eat, I took her to my vet. (This is after calling the vet pet supplies plus took her to and was told this was common and to just feed her chicken and white rice). My vet said the cat should have never been adopted out, she was extremely malnourished, dehydrated and was not given proper parasite treatment. She was immediately given fluids, put on antibiotics, medication for diarrhea, treated for parasite and labs were run. She improved and was sent home with us. Sunday August 22nd, she wouldn't eat, drink or use the bathroom. She was lethargic again and started showing signs of respiratory distress. We rushed her to an emergency clinic open on Sunday's and got the horrible news that our cat was in horrible shape and even if given emergency treatment was likely not to make it. We had to make the extremely devastating decision to euthanize our baby. We are crushed, I would never adopt a cat from here again, my entire family is traumatized! read more

I love how convenient this place is to home. They carry Wellness brand cat and dog food which is great for both our pets, and they have a nice variety of all the items you need for you animals in a relatively small store. There is also doggy bath attached to the store for self serve and a grooming facility if you'd rather have someone else do it. The staff is very friendly too, we needed help choosing a new dog food since they didn't carry Organix and we didn't want to make two stops for our pets. It's nice to walk into a place and be greeted in a friendly genuine way rather the Wal-Mart type greeter that's forced to do it. Keep up the great work! read more

I would give this a Zero rating if it was an option. My wife went to the Pet Supplies Plus in White Lake in October for dog food and looked at a couple of cats in their Kitty City area. She saw one there, a black kitten, that she was interested in but she was told no black cats are sold in October and that kitten was spoken for anyway. So a clerk showed her another kitten in another area that was very young and somewhat feral so she couldn't be adopted until she had her shots and was spayed. We offered to pay for that kitten and let them hold on to her and do whatever they needed to do, but we were told they can't do that. Their policy is "come in and call on a regular basis. Talk to the clerks get to know them. They'll see your interested, but it's first come, first served." Immediately I knew that policy was not a good one but I did as they asked, only to find out yesterday that the kitten is promised to another home. I went there twice a week for the past 6 weeks and felt like a stalker but I wanted to show them we were interested and serious about that kitten. We were just in there 4 days ago and held the kitten, she had her surgery but we were told it would still be another couple of weeks before her shots could be given, and the kitten developed a hernia. She was still available 4 days ago. So I could've missed being there yesterday by 5 minutes after someone else called on her and was told she was now available. Something doesn't add up here. Their policy positively sucks. I will NEVER buy one more item from this store. Period. read more

I am so sad. The bearded dragons in this place are near death, they look terrible. I've been in there twice in the last week purchasing crickets for my own beardie and both times I expressed my concern to the staff (and I'm pretty sure one of the dragons I was concerned about the other day has died). Unfortunately the staff doesn't seem upset about the state of their dragons... is this common to them? Is there nothing they can do for the poor things? I'm heartbroken for those babies. read more

I had never taken my dogs, ( a Lab and a Lab/Wirehair mix), to a groomer before; we live on Lake Huron and the dogs were always in the water enough to keep clean and we did our own periodic brushing and hosing off when necessary. However. they are old boys now and don't go in the lake enough to do any good, and we needed to freshen them up to go stay with my mother-in-law while we went to my son's graduation from boot camp. They were smelling pretty ripe and shedding much worse than usual. I thought there was no way they were going to be fit for my mother-in-law's condo, but Maria worked magic on those dogs! I didn't know it was possible for them to be so soft and silky with nary a loose hair. My only regret is that I never took them in earlier! read more

If you like paying more than you need to, and just need the teenage employees to ignore you until you get to the register, this store is okay. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the sort of person who needs (or wants) an employee to follow me like a puppy, but the feeling of indifference is palpable... and mutual. Going down the aisle, the prices were categorically higher than nearby stores like Highland Tropical and Meijer (and even not-so-nearby stores like Petsmart). Selection wasn't bad, though. On my visit, time was running short, so I picked up a couple of items. Oops. Wrong things. No problem. I didn't open them, and I've got the receipt that says... 14 days? Huh? I happened to have a receipt from the Milford store, and it said 30. Turns out, the stores are franchises, and every store can set whatever individual policy they want. So, I paid a premium to get no service to speak of, and can't return $15 worth of unopened merchandise. Yeah, you won't see me again. I don't really understand why anybody would come here, other than to kill time while the Thai place at the end of the strip mall takes an hour to make your food. This strip mall seems to have ripped open some kind of time / space vortex that assures some of the worst customer service possible. read more

A very nice pet supplies plus. On par with all the others....I think this chain has the best prices and the best selection, esp. on expensive, organic dog food and treats. A really cool stand out of this location is they have a doggy wash in the store....kind of like a quarter car wash for you fur baby! I said it before but sign up for the rewards card for free bags of food and the five dollar off coupons. You can register your card at all the stores. The Pet Supplies Plus store on Highland Rd (store # 171) has caused a real issue with me. I brought in one of our dogs a Cockapoo last Thursday for grooming. New store ownership and dog grooming person. We have been bringing our dogs to this store for seven years for grooming and never really requested a quote for grooming services. This was really problem last week. Our cost has been $35.00 plus a tip for the last couple years. We expected a similar charge this time. The groomer presented the bill to me for $60.00. I challenged the charge as excessive from the $35.00 we paid. The groomer said she would check if the charge was a mistake. Her response was it should have been $45.00 plus $5.00 for a matted coat. Does this figure add up to $60.00? Our DOG DID NOT have a matted coat. We bring in our dogs into the store approximately every two months. This $5.00 charge was part of a frustrated response from the groomer to cover-up the charge and over charge me by $25.00 without a reasonable explanation. Honesty and integrity is not high on the groomers code of ethics. read more

Most people have a hard time differing psp from Meijer with prices etc and something I've learned in my life is that you get what you pay for. I adopted a kitten from the white Lake store on 8/18/12. I was told he had been given a clean bill of health by a vet prior to being put up for adoption. While we already love this kitty, he came to us with diarrhea. Today,9/15/12 we took him to the vet and found out that he has a sever case of ear mites, an undisclosed,unknown abdominal surgery, worms and irritable bowels requiring probiotics. It concerns me that your company may be in the practice of adopting out sick kitties. While I appreciate the kindness and hard work that rescues put into their animals, I feel it is wrong to falsely say these animals have been vet approved for adoption. The white lake store is fortunate to have kitty city, but I now feel everyone of those cats is probably infected with ear mites, worms and unknown etiology bowel troubles. They will probably be adopted out, falsely healthy, into other homes where there is the potential to spread these conditions to other pets. I would hope that you take this e-mail seriously and change this practice. read more

They're close to home but worth the drive if you have to. They carry a large variety of dog and cat food from raw/dehydrated food to an affordable middle range food with a LARGE selection. Prices are fair and much better than supermarket food. The staff makes this store exceptional. They will order what they don't have and keep you updated on the order. I just visited a store I bought food from in Warren on Mound rd yesterday. They are very inexpensive and have a wide variety. I asked a question,there was a painful answer, they said they did' t carry the food and said they used to special order it. After I walked away. I could still hear them talking....they were talking poorly of customers that special order food and never come to pick it up so they don't do that anymore. It was obviously a person that had been there teaching the new guy. The prices for other items increase and I wasn't impressed with anything at the store. It's a mom and pop which I like to buy from but something happened in the last few years. To be fair, there was a female employee that did help me with harnesses for my dog. She was very nice.
