Had a horrible experience at petco on 8mile bought my dog in to be groomed at 1:30pm my dog was not released until 7:50pm they said my dog was matted. I spoke to the store Gm and he told me my dog was matted and their will be No discounts applied my cost for this visit was 100.35 which is ridiculous. There is no way anyone dog should be at a groomer for 7 hours I have a small dog he weight 7 pounds. This is not the first time this happened to me at the place, I'm done with this store. read more

I just cam back from Petco. They have curb side pickup right now, during this COVID-19 crisis. Being a senior citizen with diabetes and asthma, this was so helpful to me! I planned to purchase my cat food online and have it delivered. But the companies that ship in 1-2 days are now saying 10-14 days and I would be out of cat food in 5. They have pet food. You knew that. They have pet toys. You knew that. They have tropical fish, self serve kitty litter, and a large room for grooming. You probably knew all that too. What you might not know is that the employees here are so NICE. I always end up chatting it up with the cashiers here and we swap pet stories. Our cats have recently decided that only the most expensive dry cat food will appeal to their discerning palates. Petco carries just what they like, and it's practically across the street from our home, which couldn't be more convenient. And it never fails that when I buy the large bag, one of the friendly employees offers to carry it out to my car for me. It's nearly 50 lbs, and while I don't need the help, it's very nice to be asked! Great store! read more

The people that do the grooming are dishonest and rude. I brought my 10 month old puppy in to get his nails trimmed and they told me that his rabies vaccination had expired so they wouldn't help me. A rabies vaccination is good for one year, so telling me that it expired in June is absurd. Hint: he has not been alive long enough to have had his vaccination expire. It's more likely that the employees purposefully turn business away when the manager is not around and when they don't feel like working. It's a shame that I took time out of my workday for that. As for the store - well this is one of those stores that allows salespeople for the brands that they sell to post up in the store and bug you as you shop. No, I don't want to be scolded for feeding my dog Iams instead of Blue Diamond when I stop in to pick up a leash. read more

Petco you just lost a customer. First let me say we used to purchase all of our pet supplies at this store. Cat litter, cat food cat treats, cat toys dog food. Dog toys, leashes, treats, bird seed and anything else you can think of. My point we spent a lot of money here. We also did dog training the trainer was awesome but no longer there. Anyway, why you lost my business? Well, I have a one year old puppy an aussiemo. We booked him for a bath, face and fanny and teeth cleaning. We booked at five pm with DeMarco. We took our boy in and were told three to four hours. I told DeMarco it's only his second time getting groomed so if you have any trouble or get behind just call. We are going across the street to grab dinner and we will be back to hang out because of the storm. We didn't want to be driving back and forth in icy rain. Side note we were told our rabies vaccine was expired. Um. No. DeMarco finally called our vet and no we were not expired. So take in a copy always. Plus we booked our appointment on line and they acted like we didn't have an appointment. Anyway. 1 hour and 45 min later we come back and our fur baby is still in the cage not being worked on yet. I did not like that but they did say three hours. So my hubby and I decide to kill the rest of the time in the store picking up new toys and treats Our fur babies are spoiled rotten. So we begin to browse and shop and load our cart. I go to the viewing window and look in too see another Lil pup getting groomed so cute. We proceed to our shopping. About thirty min later I go back by the window and no doggies are there so I just stand there looking at the equipment. At this point I remember oh I should ask if they could put that nice extra conditioner on his coat and add the paw balm. So I open the door to where the register is and sat down to wait for someone. At this point I here thru the glass door. "ya she better stop looking in thru the window and hanging out here. She is working my last nerve" DeMarco our groomer was saying this too his Co worker. I was like whoa hell no he is talking about me and the idiot does not know I am sitting right here. Just then the door opens and the girl walks out and sees me and her expression says it all. She just realized that I heard the comment about me. So I look up and say "so why exactly does it work his last nerve that I am here and looking into a room that is empty? And yes I heard him talking about me and the next person I want to hear speaking is a manager. " at this point I was like oh hell no really no where does it say I can't hang out, no where is it posted I can't look on the window and that's by baby in there plus I am. Waiting too add on more stuff so that means more money for your company. The manager comes out, I guess the girl told her everything. She was sorry. I am so tired of this kind of behavior. People are so rude and disrespectful and obviously not very smart. Hello it's Glass not a sound proof room of course I heard you talking trash about me. So petco you lost my business I know two or three hundred dollars a month is not a huge loss for you. But I am also a business owner and I pride myself in customer service. I used to recommend your training program and store to hundreds of people. Now those same hundreds will hear and read this story. To DeMarco. Uncalled for unprofessional and hope you learned too look around before you talk crap about a paying customer. You lost a huge tip and a great family who cares about their pet. And you lost your company money and a loyal customer. Petco I hope you use this as a training example for employees. All I gotta say is chewy here we come and we are on the hunt for a new groomer. Every time I shop here I'm treated with the utmost respect and friendliness. In the past two? years, I have interacted with many different employees and always been treated well. I've been a customer at the 8 mile Petco store for the last 4 - 5 years and have been very happy with the store most of the time. Why not all of the time? Well, because they don't seem to be able to hold on to their best groomers and I get upset that my dog (and I) get attached to a good groomer, and then, whoosh! they are gone, outta there, and we've got to go through finding another one. And then, after a couple of months, whoosh! that one is gone also! I don't know why they leave, although the first one that left DID tell me she was going back to school to study Art, the next two just left, and I didn't find out until after we showed up for our appointment. Petco, you have GOT to do something to keep your grooming staff! I'm pretty fed up with this now and am seriously thinking of looking for a groomer elsewhere - my husband was in favor of going elsewhere a long time ago - but I really liked taking my doggie there and don't want to have to leave you . read more

the pet grooming department at this petco is amazing. of course my dog came out smelling like pumpkin spice with a perfect cut, teeth cleaning and shampoo, but the people that work here are super nice. they were very helpful and happy and really interested in my dog. overall, a great experience and i will return to have my dog groomed here. btw, a small dog grooming is only 42 dollars with shampoo, nails clipped and hair clipped. love, juston read more

I walk into the store looking for one specific item. I found that the store was completely unorganized and very confusing. I walked around the store twice looking for this item, and finally I found someone to help me. She pointed to an aisle and walked away. I went to the aisle and eventually noticed that he peg was empty. So I walked around and tried to find someone again and ended up waiting in the cashier line to ask for help. Eventually someone went to the back to retrieve the item for me, but it should not take 30 minutes to buy one specific item! No nice greeting or smiles, and no thank you for coming in. Sorry, never going back, Amazon.com is more convenient. read more

I'm always very happy with this location. For the most part I only go here for grooming, and I work with my dog in the store. Practicing walking in a heal through the aisles, sit staying with distractions etc. The staff is always very friendly. The groomers seem to really enjoy their jobs and love dogs. The staff was friendly and the store was clean, but my big complaint is regarding nail clipping. The groomer didn't seem to know what he was doing. I specifically told him before I sent my dog in that my dog was very afraid of getting his nails cut, whether by me or a stranger. Anyway, I saw clearly through the window that the groomer was attempting to cut my dog's nails by himself, and not succeeding. Shocker - I told him he needed two people. Unsurprisingly, my dog's nails were pretty botched when I got him back, only perpetuating the viscous cycle of him hating getting his nails cut. It's my own fault for bringing him to Petco for his nails, I should have known better. This one was on me. Terrible place! read more

I haven't used the grooming services, so I cannot speak to that. However, if you need something for your animal, they have everything! This store seems larger than the one by me, and they have every fancy dog food, tooth brushing treat, and organic snack on the planet. I also found more bedding, and toys for my size dog at this location. The staff who waited on me were very also very friendly. Very nice store! Clean, fairly well organized and employees are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. One salesgirl approached me to ask if I needed help and provided me with some very useful recommendations for a grain-free food for my cat. I was sad that I don't have a dog due to their excellent selection of Star Wars dog toys :) but they had some nice options for cats as well. Like most pet shops it's a bit expensive but they have some decent sales and do offer a rewards program. I would definitely recommend this location and would shop again. read more

Ummm... hello this one of the worst pet stores I have been to. But I will make exception because their products are good, except for the animals, the main part of the store! Ok don't get me wrong I go here like all the time, but the animals don't seem that healthy. I was so furious with them, I bought some goldfish and fed them to my snapping turtle, guess what happened a half month later..... he died. Not to get too personal but we had a little funeral for him, but petco was my enemy at that point. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, but in a way I guess I do because I shop there. read more

My go to petco. They have the same stuff like other petcos but different staff. The people working here are helpful and some knowledgeable about what you'll need when starting with a new pet. The store is clean and welcoming when you go through the store. I've been going to this store since it opened and had very positive experiences every time until now. The only reason that I'm not rating this a 5 star is because they just hired a person on the night staff that was extremely rude. I had to make a return (which is very rare for me), which the rep refused to take back. Considering their policy, I'm aware of what they can/not take. I asked nicely where in the policy states she can't accept my return. She responds "it's in there somewhere" and dismisses me. I ask if she can show me and she goes and looks on a paper and reads it without really showing me. Either way I was not upset about not getting my return over a small item but I do hope she either learns the good culture they represent there instead of making more terrible impressions. read more
