I LOVE this store, and the staff are like family to me and especially my dog, Pete. I have never felt compelled to leave a comment or review on a business before, and I can't bring myself to leave a 1-star, because I don't want it to reflect on the amazing staff, but the owners or management of this store are corporatizing this absolute GEM of a mom-and-pop small business with uniforms, and ignoring the community their business is in. We love shopping at this small business because the staff has personality! Now they have to wear these dumpy, ill-fitting, light green t-shirts... If you're going to make your employees wear uniforms, put some effort into it, or leave them alone! And why is the logo on the back where no one can see it? Lame. I've also heard some of the potential "improvements" that may come to the store. Here are my suggestions: 1. DRIVE DOWN BONITA RD. -- we don't need another dog grooming space - there's 5 between the Pet Supply and the 805, including a self-dog wash. 2. GIVE UP THE LAME UNIFORM. Invest in your employees instead. You have an INCREDIBLE staff. Every single one of them deserves a pay increase. They want to be there - you should value them. 3. EXTENDING HOURS. Open an hour earlier, don't stay open an hour later. No one is shopping in Bonita at 8pm... but they absolutely will at 8am. Also, there are far too many young women on staff for them to be closing late at night, in the dark. Not only is that unsafe, it's negligent as a business owner. I know this review is long-winded, but I have been shopping at this store for a decade, and I love my community. I don't want to see this incredible small business ruined by management that doesn't understand the needs of Bonita, and the staff of Pet Supply. I really just want the business to thrive, because I know the staff all really love their workplace. If management would like to reach out, your Bonita Store managers know me and my phone number. "Has all the feelings of an old-fashioned, cozy hardware store located in a small town's downtown district, except this is a pet supply business." Allow me to start off by stating that the customer service at this establishment is beyond supreme and eloquent. Each time I visit, I am always greeted with a generous welcoming by the employees. In addition, employees will go out of their way to offer assistance if you are at an aisle and browsing around.....how awesome is that? The size of the store is impeccable, as it's not too large or overwhelming, compared to other stores that cater to pets. The store is always hygienic! The staff definitely takes care of the cleanliness because I've never seen the store cluttered or unorganized. The selection of their products are ample and accommodating as well. My dog adores the Solid Gold products. And, if he store is out of Solid Gold, I was informed by an employee that the store will usually receive a re-up for solid gold shipments on Thursdays, FYI. Moreover, the store carries very excellent pet toys, treats, accessories, bathing products and so much more! The parking lot is shared with other local businesses, and it will be a bit crowded on Fridays and weekends but it's fine because the structure of the parking lot was created to have an easy walk to all stores in that vicinity. I am so glad I reside in Bonita with an easy commute to this store! So, with all of this being typed, I highly and gushingly recommend visitng "Pet Supply" located in San Diego's finest unincorporated community in the South Bay, Bonita. ok first off everyone is so kind and helpful here. l love shopping this establishmen. But l noticed the other day all of a sudden all the employees had the same clothes on. Very drab uniforms and l think it just looked bad! They now are wearing ugly frumpy Tshirts! it dosent suit the cheery disposition of the people in the shop, why not a cute checkered apron or just anything other than that. l think if l had to wear that uniform it would be depressing!! l hope that Pet Supply can stop with the ugly T-shirts so l can enjoy shopping there again. read more

Pet Supply has all of the food that our cats need and their prices are reasonable. It is definitely worth the drive for us. It's nice to support family-owned businesses that really seem to care about the welfare of pets. If you really want to go crazy, visit their Fountain Valley location. Their Cat Country alone is the size of this store. The FV location hosts cat and rabbit adoptions, too. This place was so memorable to me back when it first opened. I thought it added a special "local" flare to this area. I moved to North Park and was forced to get used to other pet supplies but none were quite as great as this one. So now that I'm back in this neighborhood due to the passing of my father, I had to readjust to all my "local" goods. I was at least happy to be back at this pet supply because I remember it being great. For the most part it is... depending on which girl wearing tribal leggings is working. You need to make sure that the front face of your store is pleasant and that girl isn't. A few young girls work there and they all seem akin to each other but only one of them is sour and apathetic. I felt like I had to console her misery for having to scan a few cans. Who shit in your pancakes sweetheart? It's not like she bagged the cans for me or lugged them around like I did. I just had a simple transaction and the girl sweeping the store was way more helpful and friendly to me even though she wasn't the one scanning my items. Next time I come in, I'll mentally prepare to feel like such a bug even though my purchase is keeping her employed. I'll shop for the great selection of food but I'll go mute and apathetic just like she does when I get to the register. read more

I accompanied a friend here to get some supplies for her dog who was having tummy-related problems. Mostly accustomed to the big chain pet supply stores, it was great to check out this location and support it, especially since it's a family-owned business. After perusing the aisles, we found the section to help with stomach issues. There was a decent amount of inventory for this and were able to find what we needed. We also decided to take a closer look at the dog food selection and were impressed with the variety and gourmet offerings. Sure, you could find the big name brand stuff at the supermarket but Bonita Pet Supply offers so much more than that. What also impressed me was when we went to pay for the items and asked for advice on the best way to administer the medicine. The staff was so friendly and helpful! They took the time to look over the medicine and noted that since it doesn't have any flavoring (as opposed to having chicken fat or the equivalent) that there's a possibility her dog might not readily take it and that using a plastic syringe would be ideal. They would've offered one but happened to be out that day. Despite that, they gave very helpful advice and I'm happy to report that the medicine was successfully given (and doggy stomach problems relieved!). Definitely worth coming here for the great customer service and nice selection of products. Also fun fact- the other locations for this particular pet store are all in the OC so pretty cool that the only SD location is in Bonita! read more

We used to shop at numerous stores both online and brick & mortar shops to purchase different brands of dog food, snacks, apparel, etc. All we had to do was shop at Bonita Pet Supply. They carry products our dog uses such as: Nature's Logic, Stella & Chewy's, The Natural Dog Company, etc. The best thing we love is their service; we've always been treated well by all their staff! They've never been out of stock for the products we buy regularly, so they're on top of their inventory. They also accept AMEX method of payment, something many small businesses have opted not to accept these days. Something we found which we don't like: parking during busy times can be challenging. Our dog loves coming here whenever we come to stock up on her products. If you own a pet, and live in the National City, Bonita, or Chula Vista area, you should give them a try! I love this pet store and the staff! They have a lot of great quality and natural pet food in very competitive pricing with local Petco and Petsmart. You'll find tons of brands that have very great, grain free and preservative free can foods for less than a dollar. When I told the staff that my cat is having trouble eating her food, they gave me tons of big samples of both dry and wet food for free to see if my cat will like it. WOW! Being a mother of two dogs and living in Bonita, I've been waiting for this pet store to open since I saw the sign in their window this winter. Well, they are open and I am amazed and elated over the selection. I walk in and I'm immediately impressed by the amount of space. An employee greets me right away and apologizes for the mess, as they are still unpacking and getting things sorted, displayed and marked. They carry my EVO brand which I have normally had to drive over to Spring Valley to get. Wow, again. I pick up a package of natural chew treats I normally buy online for $24.99 and am overjoyed that it's only $18.99! Another employee also greets me and tells me she can help me find anything and to excuse the mess again. For serious, don't worry about that. You can tell they are going to have everything you need for your pet(s). At check out, I mention that I'm going to Yelp the business and I'm told that they will special order pretty much anything you need and match any price you can find. I'm in doggie heaven! i love this place! everyone is super helpful in finding things that you need for your animal friends. and their prices are cheaper than other places as well. i knew i needed something to help my bulldog's nose. it gets dry and doesn't self moisturize but i wasn't sure what to ask for. a gentleman helped me and knew exactly what to show and walked me to where the item would be. another plus is that he didn't try to push the more expensive option on me. they have lots of different options for foods, treats, and toys and have really cute harnesses, leashes, and collars as well. i spoil my little girl so it's great that they have lots of cute girly options that aren't necessarily pink. my boyfriend buys her canidae food here. it's a great deal and is cheaper than buying from other pet stores. read more

I love this pet supply store. We used to have to order our dog food from a online store until we found this store which carries every kind of healthy grain free food you can think of. My favorite thing about the store is Maryana who helped me sooo much today. I had purchased the wrong allergy test and she was able to let me exchange it. Then she showed me all these products and foods to try for my poor problem child who started developing food/flea allergies and gave me some tips to keep it from getting worse and hopefully to get better!
