Arrived early for my kitten's nail trim appt only to find out it was rescheduled - I apparently missed their voicemail. Came back at the new scheduled time, and the groomer wasn't even there. After waiting 15 minutes, they were scrambling to find someone who doesn't even specialize in cat nail trims because the employee I was scheduled with never actually showed up. The manager (Alexis) apologized, but an apology doesn't fix a business that can't manage its own schedule. The disorganization, poor communication, and lack of professionalism were so pitiful. I recently brought my poodle in for a grooming appointment and was disappointed by my experience. While I understand that groomers must make decisions based on a pet's comfort and safety, I felt there was very little effort made to discuss options with me as the owner. I was told that because of some matting around my dog's neck, the solution was to shave her coat. From my perspective, the rest of her coat was in good condition and manageable. Rather than working together to explore alternatives, such as addressing the matted areas while preserving the rest of her groom, I felt the conversation was immediately shut down. What was most disappointing was not the recommendation itself, but the lack of collaboration and customer service. As a pet parent, I came in looking for professional guidance and a solution that considered both my dog's well-being and my concerns. Instead, I left feeling dismissed. Because of this experience, I chose not to move forward with the appointment and will be seeking grooming services elsewhere. I went in to buy dog food for my diabetic dog. I didn't have the prescription card on me but had been told in the past that I just need to get it from Banfield again. Apparently, they could see the prescription but since it wasn't filled out properly by the other banfield, they couldn't help. The assistant manager Paul, very kind, said they would make an exception, and rightly so, why would I buy a $102 bag of dog food on my own, obviously my dog is in need. However, Alexis the manager vetos it, and tells me I can't buy the dog food. Unbelievable. I explained to her this is why people shop on line. This past week has been super warm in San Diego. My 14 year old shih tzu Molly was groomed last Saturday but because of the heat, it really made her dry skin flare up and the medicated foam that she has been using for a while just made her fur become firm. Around noon today, I went online to see if PetSmart could do a bath and brush only with my own medicated shampoo. I was able to make an appointment for 2 PM. I got there a little early and dropped Molly off with Michael. I received a call and email a little after 3 PM saying that she was ready. When I got there, I paid the bill and walked to the grooming center to pick her up. She was as happy as could be and not only looked but smelled great. I really loved the work that Michael did and the fact that my senior shih tzu left PetSmart happy means the world to me as I know that she was treated well. I booked appointment online for my toy poodle for the first time, arrived on time to this person Jackie H. did NOT greet me whatsoever, had nothing but negative things to say and basically told me she couldn't trim my dog the way I ordered online and preceded to tell me how she was going to cut my baby BALD!!! Saying she was all matted - my dog is a diva and gets combed every day. This location needs to be shut down period because both the grooming section and the store are nasty!! It was my first time scheduling my 2 kittens for nail trim. It was supposed to be at 1pm but rescheduled it to 4pm. I arrived 10 mins before 4..only to inform me that the person doing the job will be few minutes late. After 30 minutes that person still not in yet. I had to speak to the manager who kept apologizing. Finally the manager herself had to do it. It was very inconvenient..it would have been a little better it there was even a chair to sit while waiting . I regret coming to this place. Please never bring your pets to this place. read more

On July 14 ,2026, I took my cat to the groomers, it was her first time. She's a rescue and I've only had her for a couple months and I've finally got her ease up around people. Everything went perfect (so I thought) the groomer (Stacy) told me she was perfect and sweet. I dropped her off at home and went back to work immediately (I should've inspected her but was running late for work) I noticed when I got home she was acting weird and limping. I took a closer look at her paws and found out that her nail was cut WAY too short and realized it was bleeding quite a bit. Cat's nails are super sensitive and basically the groomer (Stacy) cut her nerve. My cat was probably in pain the whole time she was there, and she was definitely in pain when she got home. I am beyond upset, her nail was bleeding and she wouldn't let me go anywhere near her paws, it's been a couple days and she still isn't letting me touch her paws, and is spending most of her time under my bed. Which is totally understandable, I can't imagine the pain she was in. All that work it took for her to ease up and trust me is gone because a groomer injured my cat. I called and reported it immediately that same day, and the girl on the phone said she can offer styptic powder or a vet visit there at petsmart. I laughed because there's no way I'm bringing my cat back there ever again. I called my vet and explained what happened, and sent her a photo of her paw and a video of my cat walking weird. Our vet had us go in the next day, and was in shock by how short they had cut her nail. My vet recommended I call the corporate office, so I did and now I'm waiting for a response. Stacy was nice but shouldn't be grooming any cats ever again!! I just would stay far far away from this place if you own a cat maybe even a dog, this is terrible! read more

I just had a fantastic experience at Petsmart. The staff here is incredibly friendly. Every time I walk in, I'm greeted with smiles, and they're always ready to help me find exactly what I need for my cat. From litter to toys to food, they have a great selection, and I love that I can always count on them to have my favorite brands in stock. The layout of the store makes it easy to navigate, and I appreciate how well-organized everything is. What really stands out is how attentive the staff is. They not only helped me find what I was looking for, but they also suggested other products that are comparable in quality. I stick with Applaws for wet food, since my cat likes chunky meats, and they suggested other brands that are similar to applaws. It's great location makes it easy to swing by either on my way home, or when I'm in the area for other businesses. read more

I have always given honest reviews. I give reviews because I want other potential customers and or clients to be able to get some insight ahead of time concerning what could be either a great or disappointing experience. I don't believe anybody has time nor money to waste and so I give reviews. Having a Yelp Elite status means I have given a whole lot of reviews tgat are fair and honest and that come with a following of people who appreciate knowing ahead if time what to expect at a business. With that being said, it appears that Pet Smart has various rules at various locations and depending on who you talk to you may get a different story. Today, I was totally disappointed with what I heard concerning our dogs Grooming procedure and price. I have tried to be loyal to Pet Smart, but sadly I may have to try Petco. I usually try to deal with the same groomer because when you have someone tgat knows how to cut and trim our fur babies hair right, why switch?! I really wish Management would have the same policies across the board, because I should not be hearing something different every time I call for an appointment. If anyone reading this post has any other recommendations for a great place to get my Yorkies groomed please let me know in the comments. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION. The employees do not know what they are talking about. I asked about potential cat food and liter options and the person recommended the worst possible brands and when I took my cat to the vet later because she got sick from them, they said that people shouldn't be recommending those brands. On top of that, the last time I attempted to go to this location to quickly grab the actual food my cat needed, they closed 20 minutes before the time says on google. This location doesn't satisfy the customer and shouldn't be in business. The other petsmart and petco locations I have never had a problem with and have always received good information and input on, but now this is the third or fourth time I've come to this location and gotten bad advice. Paid almost $100 for my cat to get the worst haircut of his life. Not to exaggerate but it feels like he stopped being social because he is so embarrassed of his hair cut. It's been almost 2 months and the hair hasn't even grown out to a length where he looks decent or like himself. Went to Petsmart to purchase food and treats for a feral cat I'm feeding. I looked for brands I knew and also specials (buy 3 get one free). The total came out to $73.46. It seemed high but the people in front of me had taken so long trying to use points or something I didn't question it. Looking at the receipt I noticed that none of the 'specials' were discounted. I went back and the manager explained that the membership has to be used to get the discounts. She refunded the entire sale. I then bought items and the discounts were reflected. I gave my husband instructions for the dog groomer Lexi. Requested a number 4 all over which is what we usually do. My husband picked her up otherwise I would have said something to the groomer but she didn't do a number 4. The hair was over an inch long and parts of her hair are choppy and long. She left long stands on the tail and completely shaved her behind. I told my husband the hair wasn't cut to a number 4 and he said the groomer said she didn't go that short because the weather is still cold. It also seemed like she didn't give her a rinse after her hair cut because there's hair shedding all over. Usually they take 3 to 4 hours for this service but this one only took about 2 and just seemed very rushed. My poor dog is finding the bare butt extremely uncomfortable and keeps tucking her tail between her legs. I usually have good experiences here but this groomer doesn't have an artistic eye and truly think I should get a full refund. read more

Today I had a grooming for my 20lb Yorkshire terrier and he came out looking so good! Ernesto was my pets groomer and he was incredible. He had so much attention to detail and was so patient explaining the different cuts, lengths and styles for my dog. He was super sweet both to myself and my pup. I will definitely be booking a second appointment with him in a few weeks! Jackie knocked it out of the park with my poodle. I gave them a reference photo and his cut was so much better than what I was expecting. She did such an incredible job with my bubs. I'm so appreciative that she listened to exactly what I wanted down to the fluffy paws. I can't explain how excited this makes me because it is very hard to find a groomer that is this good with Poodles. Thank you Jackie! I will be seeing you again in a few weeks! read more

Customer service and grooming knowledge is poor. Had Ernesto groom my Bernedoodle and he did a horrible job. We spent almost 15mins before appointment discussing and showing him photos of how I like his cut. Upon arrival he had a funky Willy Wonka hairstyle and was shaved super short. This is for the grooming department. If I could give this place a zero star I would. I went in to drop my dogs off to get there nails trimmed. The person wrong the desk I believe her name is Stephanie asked if my dogs had an appointment. I told her no that the website states we can just do a drop off for nail trimming. She then got up went to the back. When she came back she looked annoyed. Then asked if my dog was up to date on her rabies vaccine. I told her yes and showed her proof of the vaccine which was given July 6tty of this year. She said that that info was not enough and she need to know if it was a 1 year or a 3 year. I informed her I could get her the expiration date while they were working on my dogs nails. She then argued with me as to why should couldn't take the dogs. Finally another person who worked there looked at the app and saw that the expiration date was in fact there. I decide not to let them touch my dogs for fear that they would take out their frustration and anger on my fur babies. We will never come to their groom department again. read more

Went for grooming. Stephanie is the rudest groomer I have ever met. Upon the first contact in the morning she was asking me to pick blade cuts without explaining the swatches and proceeding to just be overall condescending at me for not knowing what she meant when I have never been asked that from a groomer before. I had a bad gut feeling once I left my dog with her. I've taken my dog to multiple groomers in different cities and I always hear the same thing, that he's so good but sometimes he sit too much. I've NEVER had a groomer not be able to cut his nails or mention aggression. She wrote in her report my dog snapped at her and she did not to cut his nails. When I asked why it was still full price for a job not done, they told me that that part of the service was complimentary (even though when I booked, it was included in the description). By the way, she was successful with getting her hands in his mouth to brush his teeth. Additionally I've seen people take him to a back room real fast with a glass separator for a nail cut. He cries but hasn't shown aggression. After being rude as heck in the morning, Stephanie started to be nice JUST before it was tipping time. How convenient. I DO NOT recommend this groomer, look at other reviews about Stephanie - this isn't the first time she hasn't finished a job. 2 stars just because the store itself is still good but man this girl's personality...awful. read more

This part of the review is for the grooming department - dropped off my dog to get a deep cleaning done (bath, nail trim, teeth clean). 2 hours after dropping him off, I got a call saying he was ready to be picked up. His coat smelled good but he was still a bit damp. I noticed the groomer did not clean his tear stains at all. Instead, they left him with a red eye, assuming shampoo got in it. His nails were still a bit long and looked similar to how they did from when I dropped him off to his appointment. In my opinion, no major grooming was performed except for a bath, which I could have done myself to save my time and money. Here's the jaw dropping moment I knew I would NEVER TAKE HIM BACK HERE AGAIN. Before Lexi, our groomer, took him back, we informed her that his two hind legs had issues and were very fragile due to luxating patella in both legs. She acknowledged our comment and took him to the back room. As soon as I got home from the appointment with my dog, I put him down to walk. TELL ME WHY HE WAS LIMPING and could barely put any weight on his right hind leg. Prior to his appointment, he was walking perfectly fine! I couldn't let this pass. I called them right after I found out my dog was potentially injured or mistreated during his first ever (and certainly his last) grooming appointment I've booked here. All they could tell me was that my dog looked tired, they noticed he couldn't stand for long periods of time, and they let him lay down for most of the appointment. Where can I see the tapes of groomers bathing my dog, cutting his nails, and brushing his teeth?! Thanks to this place, I'm facing an $800 bill at the pet hospital for his injured leg and shampoo that left his eye twitching. PLEASE do yourself a favor, don't bring your baby here. This is the PetSmart I go to the most out of convenience. It used to be that you could go and find knowledgeable employees who could answer your questions and know what they carried in stock or could do price matches or adjustments. That hasn't been the case in a long while. The last two visits I had here I went searching specifically for the KBD sleepy cleanz treats (pictured). They had a sale of buy 1 get 1 25% off so I took 2 packets to the front to buy. The cashier ASSURED ME I was getting the deal the 3 different times I asked because I did not see the total reflecting it. I asked to use my $2.50 treat points on top of it. After I paid and got my receipt I saw she did not give me the 25% off on one so I asked her to fix this. She did not know how. She also could not give me back my $2.50 in treat points. All she was able to do was return the purchase and I was left with no merchandise. Fast forward to today and I go in and I see they have the same sale and a different cashier. I decided to take my chances. I bring up my merchandise - this time having taken a photo of the sale just in case - and again no discount was given. I was told this was because my treat phone number was put in last so she cancelled the transaction and restarted it putting in my number first and rang them up. Nothing. No honor of the sale. I showed her the picture that they have these sale signs everywhere the treats are for these and she manually changed the price. PetSmart, do better. Honor your sales. Train your associates. Give better customer service. Also the fact that I can only find these for my dogs with CBD in one PetSmart in all of San Diego is absurd. Stock uniformly please. read more

I am broken hearted for feeling the need to write this review. I have been taking my fur babies to the PetSmart Grooming Salon on East H Street for about 14 years. April Faulkner has been our pups' sole groomer; she was sole the reason we stayed with PetSmart Grooming despite their price hikes. April is AMAZING! She was overworked and overbooked though because she's THAT GOOD! We received a cancellation phone call from PetSmart in December 20221 because April was out for an extended period of time for health reasons;. I was informed that no other groomer except the senior groomer would be able to care for my senior cocker spaniel in April's absence; yet they could groom my Schnoodle. I was told that the senior groomer would call me the following week. She did not. I had to make a follow up phone call only to be told she was booked up and could not take my senior cocker and I'd have to wait for April to come back in January - STRIKE ONE! Micah filled in for April in December; she did a great job with our Schnoodle. We received a phone call from the salon in January when April came back to work; we booked our grooming appointments with April for our 2 dogs. These appointments were several weeks in advance. I took my Schnoodle in for his grooming appointment this morning only to be told that April was not there, would not be in until Thursday, AND that the appointment was CANCELLED! I received no phone call, no text, no email notifying me of the cancellation. STRIKE TWO! They couldn't take him today because they were all booked up. This is NOT the way to treat a client who has been taking their pets there for grooming for 14 years. To their credit, the lady at the counter was super nice, took down my contact info, told me she would call me in the event of a cancellation, and leave a message for April. It takes WEEKS to get your dog in for grooming at PetSmart anymore; my Schnoodle is way over due for grooming. Who knows how long I will need to wait to get him in with April? This morning's experience was the last straw and has totally soured me on PetSmart Grooming. I am looking for a new pet grooming salon as I seriously doubt I will be coming back! We absolutely LOVE April; however, I'm not willing to give this business a 3rd strike with my pets! read more

This review is long overdue because we have been getting our Cockerpoo, Ellie Mae groomed by Melissa for a number of months now. Melissa is a top notch groomer! Everytime Melissa grooms Ellie, she looks terrific and I am always so happy and excited to see how she looks when I go to pick her up. Ellie is making progress with the grooming experience since she is a COVID pup and we aren't there yet. But Melissa is patient and kind with her and gives her the breaks that she needs. Thank you for doing an outstanding job and being patient with Ellie Mae. I know that she is in good hands with you. This is my first time at this Pet Smart groomer and location but not my first time getting my pup get groomed at a PetSmart. Review is for groomer Brittany. I asked for a schnauzer cut for my 7 month old mini schnauzer and nail trim. Totally of $46 for cut and wash with nail trim. On picking up my pup and the Pawgress report.. she stated she managed to get only the back trimmed and she aggressive when it came to her front paw. My bf and I looked at each other like "what?" We never had this review the 4 previous visits. She stated my dog was aggressive and snappy which is out of character. I told my bf I can see why our dog acted the way she did because the groomer, Britney was completely loud and rude. I can only imagine how she placed that frustration out on my dog. I booked a standard grooming session which includes a bath, anal gland, nails, ears, teeth, etc. I informed them my pittie will vocalize when she gets her nails cut and may pull, and they reassured me they were comfortable doing it. Despite the open communication and reassurance, they did not cut her nails due to her vocalizing. I would have understood this, as I know not everyone is comfortable with bigger dogs. However, on top of the nails being uncut, her ears were dirty, teeth weren't cleaned, and they didn't expell her anal glands. I payed full price for a shampoo basically. I didn't wanna give the groomer a hard time, as I know being paid unfairly sucks enough without dealing with complaints. I just wouldn't recommend this place at all for grooming. read more
