I have been grooming my poodles for the past 10 years. Little did I know him much easier my life could be. My mom took her Australian Laberdoodle here, and they did an amazing job. I immediately made an appointment for these two. It took a couple of months to get in and that is expected. They had these two groomed in about two hours. It used to take me the whole weekend. This is one of the few places that carry the Prey brand of food for dogs and cats which is why my wife and I chose to come here. The first time we came here, the owner introduced herself, and my wife and her chatted for a while. In the conversation, my wife mentioned that the K9 with her was her service dog due to her PTSD related to her service in the Navy. The owner mentioned that they had a veteran's discount, and so my wife was stoked on that as an option. We have been coming here for a few months, and during that time, we have received the 5% discount up to today [04 March 2025]. We came to get our 2 bags of K9 food and our bag of cat food and was told by the man behind the counter that only active service members are going to receive the 5% discount. My wife nor I have heard of only active service members receiving a discount at any store. The man was kind in regards to not giving us the discount and stated that it was something which had been in effect for quite some time so he seemed as confused about our situation as we were. If it weren't for the fact that this place is one of the few places that sell the brand Prey for dog food we'd stop coming here because we get a veteran's discount everywhere else we have shopped for dog food. I am sad that a local place, which is part of a close community of Port Townsend, doesn't offer a discount to those who have served for our country in the military along with active members. So if you are expecting to receive a veteran's discount (or have in the past), then this is a headsup that the discount doesn't apply. They are pleasant enough here and have a great variety of food options for dogs and cats. If we hadn't received mixed messages regarding getting a veteran's discount, then I wouldn't have taken the time to write this review with a 2 star rating. If they decide to accommodate veteran's along with active members then I will be happy to give this place a 5 star rating. Ross at Pet Town has been tremendously helpful. My dog is allergic to several ingredients found in most dog foods. After much searching, I couldn't find a food that he could tolerate. When I told Ross about his dietary restrictions, Ross went straight to a limited ingredient dog food that was perfect and met all his requirements. I would like this store, but they do not provide carts for me to put in merchandize that I am wanting to buy. I can't carry bags of cat or dog food, while I stop and read labels on canned foods , or search for the dog treats I want . . . . . . and it's not practical to ask the person at the checkout to come and wander around with me, to carry my purchases! When I suggested that it would be nice to provide just two carts for customers--especially elderly shoppers--the owner scoffed that there was no room (I have been in much smaller stores that provide two carts, which is why I suggested it. He then rudely suggested that I bring my own cart next time!! So as a result I gave up and went to Sequim to the big pet store--with plenty of carts-- and spent the $230 I would have spent in Pet Town. Their attitude seems pretty short-sighted to me, to let that money get out the door because they can't be bothered to provide what customers need--and to be courteous. And at the Sequim pet store, I saw another Port Townsend customer who also drives there because of this attitude at the much more convenient Pet Town. I wonder how many other customers--with their dollars--don't go to Pet Town for the same reasons. read more

A bit expensive, but the price is worth the service. I saw another review that you can get the same stuff in Sequim for a couple bucks cheaper. True, but they can't help you fix your issues or answer all your pet questions like a pro. I've been going there for 4 months now and bought all the things they suggested to fix my fish tank that I rescued and I'm happy to say its finally thriving enough to buy some fish! Got some pretty guppies and they gave me a bunch of snail's for free to get rid of the rest of the algea issue. Love this place. I'm posting photos of how the back looks compared to the front that I cleaned with the magnetic thing they suggested. As you can see the front is spotless now! Amazing service experience... I called 15 minutes before closing to verify the store was still open, and that they carried 'Nature's Miracle' or a similar type of enzyme based cleaner for cat urine. It was not a great cell phone connection, but the person on the other end confirmed that yes they would be open 15 more minutes and the did have that type of cleaner.... What FAR exceeded my expectations was that when I walked in the store 5 minutes before close, the employee had pulled all 8 or 9 types of related cleaner up to the front checkout so I didn't have to navigate the store. Made the experience SUPER easy for me... One of the best examples of customer service I have ever had at any store, pet-related or not. read more

Maggie is great. She has s helpful and knowledgeable about the products. She went out of her way to show me lots of things my new dog might like and need. She told me about their food buying membership deal and was super friendly to my dog. Here's why I'm giving them only 3 stars. Yesterday, 6/11/18 I went in to get my dog some treats and a toy. Maggie was there and being awesome as always. There was another woman working there that I hadn't seen before. This other employee didn't acknowledge me, say hi or offer to help. She didn't acknowledge my dog. My dog and I have been together only about 2 1/2 weeks. She is only 1 year old. My dog saw another customer holding an adorable puppy and jomped up to say hi to it. My dog is very friendly and has a habit of jumping and saying hi to every dog she sees. The other employee walked by, looked at my dog smelling stuff and saying hi. The employee looked at me and said, "hi doggie. You don't get enough love. I can tell." Um...eff you assbag. She's only one and has been in a new place for less than 3 weeks. Give her a break! And while you're at it, give me one too. I'm trying my best. I have also been having a rough week so hearing that really stung. You don't know crap about customer service, dogs or being kind. Try being kind. You never know what someone is going through. If you go to Pet Town, and I hope you will, go when Maggie is working. She is awesome. Support local stores like Pet Town. read more

To busy to make money!!! Now I see why so many business's go tis up. There are no "Minus" stars that I could honestly put here. My Pup pup and I go to get her nails done about every 6 weeks or so. Every time we go my Pup pup and I are very happy. Quick, efficient, friendly and best of all NO BLOODY NAILS!!!! Even with someone who just started work could do her nails. My Pup pup was socialized and is a very happy pup, she does just fine with no nips or barks. Now in our last venture I brought my friends dog along. Another "NEW FACE" says she doesn't have time and we'll have to make an appointment. PROBLEM we live 30 miles one way and we have NEVER had to "Make" an appointment ever. My Pup pup is 3 years old and we had been going ever sense the day after I brought her home. Worse part she had one yapping dog in the shop at the time. Bla Bla Bla....... read more

This place has a great selection of dog food, toys, and other holistic products for your fur babies. Not being from the area, I wanted to get my dog on a good food that didn't cause him gastric issues and they had what I was looking for. They are decently priced unlike like a lot of the corporate retailers in the other town. If you need pet items this is the place to go. The employees are very helpful and nice, too. read more

I thought I would give this place a try. The worst thing I could do, is to come here with my dog for a grooming. First when I came through the door I noticed the groomer yelling at a dog, the groomer didn't notice I was standing there. I watched the groomer get physically abusive with the pet in her care, she started slapping it on the muzzle and head, repeatedly over and over. The dog then started to wimper, the groomer looked up and noticed me now. She looked stressed out and wild. I asked her for her name and she told me it was Lora. I then asked her how much to groom my dog and she said $60 in cash for a bath, nail trim and a groom, and she would only accept cash. After seeing her abusive with that other dog I decided not to take my dog there and go back to my normal groomer down the road. Stay away from this place and that crazy groomer. read more

I signed up just to review this place. I've gone here several times for a nail trim for my small dog. I was reprimanded immediately for my dog not wearing a collar. She's 9lbs and I was carrying her. It's never been a problem before. I was told to figure the situation out. Reprimanding me for her not wearing a collar?!! I'm the customer! Then help me so we can do it! I've been bringing my two dogs to the self bathe about once a month since the Dogspaw opened. I usually ask to have their toe nails trimmed and anal glands expressed. They usually have everything I need and, if they don't, they order it for me at no extra charge. I don't mind if a big bag of dog food is a bit more than, say, Sequim or Silverdale because 1). I'm shopping local, & 2). It would cost me that (or more) in gas, not to mention the 2 hours drive time to get it. They're always nice (sometimes funny, too) and very helpful and knowledgeable about the products they sell. I would also recommend them for the variety of products they carry -- especially for being a smaller store. read more

I used the self wash and was extremely happy with everything! The young lady that was working was grooming two small dogs and was treating them with so much love! She took the time to show me around and demonstrated how everything worked. They had all of the supplies I need, including clippers and brushes. Bad Service .....Not good with the pets she grooms. I went to Dogspa and from the moment I walked into the business I knew something was wrong. Lora the groomer was yelling at the pets in her care. I got a price quote for my dog and she said it would be $75 for a bath and brush out. I brought my dog in that day and when I returned she was yelling at the dogs in her shop again..... not good. I still let her groom my dog and when I returned to pick up my dog she was nervous and very scared. My dog was like this for several days after the groom. Don't go to this business. I took my Shih Tzu to this groomer named Lora. She cut off so much hair off my pet my dog was bald and had whats called razor burn. Lora the groomer looked stressed out and you can tell she really does not like her job. Oh, and when I first scheduled my appointment by phone she quoted me $40 for a bath, nail clip, and groom. When I picked up my Shih Tzu she raised the price to $70 and was very demanding on giving her the additional $30 dollars...in CASH, what is going on here, does she pocket the extra $30 in cash and not tell the owner? read more

If I could give a lower mark I would. Absolutely the worst experience my dog and I have had using groomers. We were quoted a forty dollar price for a dog under 20 lbs (dog weighs 18 lbs.) and told that if we got the dog to the shop 10 minutes before opening, she would be the first one thru and be done in 2 hours. We drive over an hour to get to this place and drop the dog off....a sticky note is attached saying "first dog" to her order form. We putz around town doing chores for 2 1/2 hours and then go back to see how the dog is doing. The groomer is very put out that we came back without her calling us.....we had an agreement that in 2 hours the dog would be done. The groomer absolutely blew her top.....I was sitting in the car and could hear her yelling at my wife all the way out there.....she said she wasnt done with the dog as it was being difficult....strange...the dog is 5 yrs old and goes to the groomer 4 times a year.....have never had one groomer say she was difficult.....the dog was traumatized when we got her in the car.....wonder if she was treated badly.....the bill somehow got to 54 dollars, and the ears werent shaved as we had asked and her feet werent done.....if it takes this long to do one small dog when it was requested to be the first in and first out...wonder how many dogs they do in a day....in my opinion, this woman is borderline psychotic.......will never ever take my dogs or refer anyone to this place.....you talk about poor customer service...... read more

I am visiting from out of town and my dog had stopped eating his food. I stopped in Pet Town to see about buying some small trial size food for him to hopefully get him eating again. The staff was so helpful and gave me many different trial sized food packets for him to try and indeed he found one he liked and is eating again. My dad and I dropped off his dog and was charged 70.00. Last time we were charged 65.00 not sure of the reason for the 5.00 hike, but didn't complain. Had another appt. for my dog who is a 14 year old rescue so when I picked up dads dog, I dropped off mine. This is where it gets cray cray. First of all, dog was missing expensive leather collar with two brass personalized tags on it and she handed me a cloth cheap grey one with some flimsy silver tag and no name on it and says, that that was ours. I think I know the dogs collar. Left anyway after leaving my dog and explaining to her that she was old and was sweet until you get to her claws then she bears her teeth, so she might want to use the muzzle. She didn't like that. And told me she was going to charge extra for muzzle fee. When I picked dog up, she wasn't dried and nails weren't done. I asked why and she said she was scared. OK. So I went to pay and she wants to charge full price. I told her I wasn't paying full price. So she yelled at me and told me my dog was aggressive. I told her, again, that she was an old rescue and that maybe she shouldn't be in this business. Now my dad and I have to buy a new collar, order tags for his dog, and I have to find someone to clip my dogs nails. Just a great big question mark as to why they are in business.
