What a horrible experience. They had my dog for 5 and a half hours . Claimed that they could not get her undercoat to dry. So when I picked her up they showed me her tail and said something about a gland. Nothing about the fact that they had cut her tail . Het tail has been oozing all night and day. I was lied to. Nothing like this has ever happened before and my dog has been getting groomed for the last 5 years every month. I do not recommend this place at all! read more

I visited this store over the weekend, really looking forward to adopting a bird. Before driving an hour, I called ahead to confirm if they had birds for adoption or if it was just a supply store, as I was specifically interested in that. The guy I spoke with said yes, they do have birds for adoption, but didn't clarify much beyond that. I assumed it would be like a Petco-style place where you can meet and adopt birds. When I arrived, I was shocked by how dusty the store was and how poorly maintained the cages looked. The birds' habitats seemed depressing and unsuitable -- definitely not the kind of environment where birds should live. When I asked about adopting a bird, I was told flat out, "THEY ARE NOT FOR ADOPTION." I was confused because didn't I call to ask that? And they said yes? Then I asked, "Neither of them?" He said only two types of birds were actually available for adoption, and those were the same birds you can find at Petco. If I had known this, I wouldn't have driven an hour I was specifically interested in African Grey parrots, which they had but not for adoption and since they are not available at Petco, I thought they would have one there for adoption. We were looking at the birds and we were never told "if you are interested in adopting these are available" which I would've appreciated. I decided to go to Petco after which is 5 min away from my house! and got a jenday conure bird there. Anyway, I ended up buying some sunflower seeds for a bird I already have at home, but he wouldn't eat them, which was weird because those are his favorite. It turned out the bag was expired, which explains why. Overall, this place felt really poorly managed, especially regarding the birds' living conditions. They desperately need better habitats that allow the birds space to stretch their wings and have a more natural, healthy environment. I do not recommend this place. read more

This place was cramped and filthy. I felt so bad for all the birds. I'm sure they love their birds, but they are not very good at taking care of them. I'm very surprised the health department hasn't shut them down. The person saying the one stars are disingenuous is obviously a friend, so let's be real Chad. Come on now! read more

This place was absolutely disgusting. I guess they share half the space with a collectibles/pawn shop? That threw me off. The man behind the counter didn't even acknowledge me, and I looked at the birds right next to him. Water and food bowls were filthy, cage liners (newspaper)were covered in feces to the point that there were mounds of turds under where the birds frequently perched. I felt so sorry for these babies, and those were the birds I could see in the front room. There were more in a back room behind a glass window. This place is a health hazard- to humans and the animals it's supposed to care for. read more

These one star reviews are disingenuous at best and flat out lies at worst. He very obviously cares about birds, and is also extremely knowledgeable. I take care of my parents' 20+ year old African Grey when they are out of town (which is a lot, since they own a RV). My parents live in Port Orchard and have used Todd various times at POPP before, but I had no direct experience with him or his shop until recently. I left the bird with Todd to be boarded for just over a week. I brought food, but didn't need to. I did bring some toys out of her cage per Todd's recommendation. He took care of the rest. As far as the shop goes, he has a great selection of the Volkmann bird seed which is not only a very good seed, but the only one that our Grey happens to eat (she eats a variety of human food too). When I picked up the bird and took her home, she seemed happy and healthy, and immediately settled into her routine at my house as soon as we got home. Based on the high level of care I witnessed from boarding, I wouldn't hesitate to use Todd for any of the other services offered--and I will certainly be boarding with him again in the future. read more

This guy Todd, has absolutely NO idea how to run a business. He posts his hours, then shows up when he wants, NO regard to customer satisfaction. He says he runs a bird rescue, I can agree with that. HE certainly does not run a business. NO longer will I pay for his overpriced bird food, no longer will I wait at his shop for him to show up (because his life happens but no one else's does,THREE TIMES IN LESS THAN A WEEK!) And he's only open 5 days per week. Call him out and he says you are bullying him. I have been nothing but nice, including buying him and his father lunch on several occasions, not wanting anything in return. When I called him out and asked him to call me a LIAR (he could not, but tried to twist my words making me into being the bad guy). I recently bought the same food I would have bought from him on Amazon for almost half the price, EXACTLY THE SAME FOOD. I told him over an exchange of emails that I would gladly pay more to shop locally, but his lack of commitment to his business was epic, EPIC! Todd, your bird business might not be your livelihood, but to your customers, your a disgrace. You say you have several hundred people who feel differently than myself, but I see this and another YELP review that proves you wrong. (Should I post our email correspondence? Or would you call that bullying?) UNFORTUNATELY your business is going to fail, the birds you try and save and re-home will be the ones who ultimately pay the price of your inadequacies, the customers you may have grown over the past 3-4 years will soon find themselves doing as I have done and buying what they need from Petco, Amazon or the like but NOT from you! Good luck in life, you sure don't have it in business. Now write your response and tell me how I am BULLYING YOU. The only reason you got 1 star is because YELP does not give the opportunity to give zero OR LESS stars. ANYONE questioning the review I've given, stop by the shop. read more

I have been going to Todd and his family for everything for my congo african grey Dillie since we moved to Washington state 1 year ago. This business always has the best prices and has taken amazing care of my Dillie when we went on vacation for a week. I was so nervous to board my feather baby but Todd took amazing care of him and spoiled him even!
