I write this with reservations because Blue Mountain is clearly filled with very caring, hardworking people who truly love animals. However, now that my dog has died of old age, I feel I should mention that Blue Mountain diagnosed her more than once with conditions she did not have. They said her esophagus was collapsing which they said would get progressively worse. I was worried sick! But her esophagus was not collapsing and she continued to breathe well for the rest of her life. Further, Blue Mountain swore she had an enlarged heart which required a specialist in Seattle. Plus they were pretty sure the heart "problem" was caused by dental issues. Well, we had her teeth thoroughly cleaned and checked at another clinic and she has zero dental issues. As for the specialist in Seattle, he said, "I don't understand why they sent you here." Me: "She has an enlarged heart." Specialist: "It's only slightly enlarged. This is a healthy dog." All of these misdiagnoses cost us money and caused stress for us. read more

She was in so much pain for the first time ever. Dr. Thiel and her team cared so much! They are super knowledgeable, care a lot, and have great bedside manner. I wanted to learn more about this service for my injured dog and they had the gall to assume it would be too expensive for me. I am so happy that I have switched to this vet office. Dr. Andi Thomson was my dogs vet at another clinic, and I have finally made the switch back to her and am now at Blue Mountain. What a difference! The space is clean, calm, inviting, friendly, and comfortable. I was impressed with the homey feel of the exam room including sparkling water and a calming sound machine. The vet tech even remembered us from where we used to go and she was just delightful. They did my senior dog's bloodwork on site and I only waited about 30 minutes to get the results. While we were waiting, the vet tech brought in a bowl of water for my pup, a soft blanket for us to sit on together and even opened the outside door to a fenced area so she could be outside when she wanted. Of course, as always, Dr. Thomson was professional, knowledgable, and caring. I'm so thrilled to have made this change. We left our appointment feeling valued and cared for and that is something I have not felt at a vets office in a long time. read more

I was referred to this clinic for the care of my geriatric animals. Upon calling this clinic to schedule an appointment, I was informed that the next opening they has was the 2nd of July, be put on a cancellation list, or i could try calling around. If that wasn't suitable I could take them to their regular Vets (which would involve all day travel, several hundred miles, and a good deal of stress for them both). When I mentioned my pet's ongoing pancreatitis issue and his need for prescription food, the options were repeated. When I expressed my dislike for stressing my animals, the call was disconnected. Due to health issues schedules and diet must be adhered to, and stress must be kept to a minimum. It is apparent this is not taken into consideration when taking on clients or speaking to pet parents. read more

The vets at this practice have provided stellar care for my pets, but the follow-up has been abysmal. I have two dogs and a cat, and have spent thousands of $$ at this place in the past year. My cat recently needed a procedure. I received a follow-up call a week after bringing him home. The person on the phone seemed annoyed that I had questions, and told me that she would ask the vet and get back to me. It's been 10 days and I've not received a call back. I've had to Google the info to figure out what to do. Then today, I missed a tech appt. for one of my dogs, so I called to apologize. I was asked if I could go on hold so they could handle an emergency. After 10 minutes on hold, I called back. The same person picked up the phone, never mentioned an emergency and took my call immediately. I apologized for missing the appt and asked for another. The "earliest available tech appt" was 7 days from now, and when I asked if there was anything sooner, the person on the phone responded, "Well you had an appointment today at 11, but you didn't make that." Really? I've never missed an appointment before today. The phone answerer need to go the passive aggressive route with a client? Finding another vet. We're done here. read more

I switched to Blue Mountain because I was desperate to find help for my dog and I thought a second opinion wouldn't hurt. When they not only gave me a second opinion, but suggested a treatment plan and it worked, I switched all my dogs over. That first little dog crossed the rainbow bridge the other day and Blue Mountain was there for her to help her and ease her way. I'll always be grateful to them for not sticking to some preset protocol, but instead seeing my dog as an individual and treating her and I as our own case. Some decisions are easy to make in the car, but in the moment things change and Dr. Thompson took that in stride and did what was best for my dog in each moment. Not only is Blue Mountain filled with caring staff and knowledgeable veterinarians, but they have the ability to do a lot of things in house that I would have had to go to Gig Harbor or Seattle with my old Veterinarian. Yes, they are expensive and they don't have the "Paw Plan", but I will stay with them for the knowledge they have, the caring they show, and the improvement in my dogs' health. They think inside the box, outside the box, around the box, and all over the box to help my animals and I appreciate them for that. They diagnosed and resolved two unusual conditions in my dogs, so my dogs appreciate them too! read more

Before our puppy's first visit, I was lucky to have a little chat with Dr. Wagnon. She helped me with some questions in very short time although she was on personal leave. What a nice person! Dr. Becker was our vet today. He was very knowledgeable and patient. He answered all our questions and concerns. The nurse ( I didn't ask her name) who picked up and brought back our puppy was extremely sweet. I have been very satisfied with the Doctor's surgical skills, "bedside manner", and follow up.... the support staff leaves a TREMENDOUS amount to be desired. I have worked in the veterinary industry for over 40 years, so I know when things are not handled properly. My cat, who has suffered a multi-fracture. to her right tarsal area, was just x-rayed for a VD pelvis view...... and, since I have always requested the rads be sent to me, an inept employee SENT them to me!!! I called, and was assured that appropriate views were indeed taken of my cat (I hope so for $184), but I now know that my cat was positioned and exposed to x-ray radiation for at least 2 times for no reason.... This facility needs to train it's staff. read more

Wow. Our introduction today to the clinic , Hayley the tech and Dr Wagnon was everything I would have hoped for in a vet visit. We were there to consider having Piper's teeth cleaned. To start, Dr Wagnon gave Piper a truly thorough exam, something that has been entirely missing from our last two vet experiences in other towns. In explaining the estimate for the surgery, Hayley explained every detail. We have very limited funds and have been saving for a couple years for this. I have been taking my animals to Blue Mountain since I was a young girl . Even when I moved away to Seattle for college I would drive back home just so my Yorkie would be handled by the best . I cannot express enough how much I love this clinic, so knowledgeable, patient and financially conscious (especially as a college student) Doctor Wagnon is my hero and have such a respect for her and her team. Iv never had a bad experience here over the 25 years Iv stuck with them and they are always able to work me in the schedule if I have a last minute emergency or concern. Expensive! I had been warned its a costly vet, but also had been given a few recommendations to come here so I went ahead with a couple visits to find out for myself. Ya, ouch! My dog has plugged glands with a "possible" minor infection. Paid out the nose for that visit, but then they called and said come get some medicated powder we have for you to try on it. I stop by and they just hand it to me with a smile. I "assumed" ( ya, my bad) it was a freebie since nothing was mentioned about paying when I was standing there, and the previous bill was quite high. A week later a get a bill in the mail! This tiny bottle of baby powder that was only used 2x since the issue was already fixed after the first visit cost me another $25, sigh. The final straw was today when I needed to have 1 dog/ 2 cats checked to see if I could use Revolution flea meds since Frontline is no longer working. Just to look at them, NO actual tests done for heartworm, etc would have cost over $130, then add in a minimum $160 for a 3 month supply of Revo (cheapest I found online). Thats $290 just to get rid of a minor flea issue for a few months. NO WAY!! read more

Just our first visit here today. Staff was friendly, Dr. Becker spent plenty of time with us and was very thorough. Our lab has been suffering with a combination of symptoms for the last month including a bad ear infection, swollen feet, probably from allergies, and a now a low grade fever. I am very pleased with how thorough Dr. Becker was and feel he is in good hands. We came here from a previous vet and my feelings were that they just gave up. My three pups have been comfortable going in with their staff and their vet techs are all very friendly. The two vets I've spoken with have been detailed about their findings and kind. They don't mind answering questions during their run through of the exam and don't rush you out the door even though they're busy. Our two Siberian huskies (Lobo and Hannah) are well-known at Blue Mountain. We've been with the clinic since 2011 when we adopted them. Blue Mountain was one of the three veterinary clinics we visited when we adopted our beautiful boy and girl. We have 'never' been disappointed by the quality of service, genuine care taken with our babies and the knowledge, professionalism and thoroughness displayed throughout the organization (and we've had some rough patches with our babies). Dr. Wagnon initially met with us when we were researching clinics. We were 'sold' within just a few minutes of speaking with her and after we saw the rapport she quickly developed with our pups. She genuinely cares about her patients and their parents. Something she must hire for, as everyone at Blue Mountain seem to be cut of the same cloth; knowledgeable, experienced, kind and caring. They offer a wide range of services. Dr. Wagnon is an 'exceptional' and highly experienced surgeon and practitioner, who makes careful, well-researched recommendations. She saved our girl's life and we're forever grateful. Her aim is to provide the best treatment options possible. She makes the time to communicate with the parents and answers your concerns with honest, direct, but caring consideration. She and her team have our full trust and confidence. We love Blue Mountain! We have taken our dog here for about 9 years. The Vets are knowledgeable and kind. Our 11 year old dog began having severe separation anxiety and DR Bevins worked with us to really understand the problems. Our dog is more settled and happy than she has been in a long time. This month I adopted a little puppy with a slightly deformed leg. We initially went to another vet that seemed to be priced slightly less than here. Their recommendation after briefly looking at the leg: you can amputate it if you want, if it gets infected or injured you'll definitely need to. Since it's not a tremendous deformity, and he's quite a young puppy, and he tries to use it, we wanted a second opinion. One that at least really examined the leg, gave more information, and didn't feel quite as dismissive or disinterested. So, today we took the pup here. They were very kind, thorough, and wonderfully knowledgeable. Really took the time to completely check my pup out and explain everything, including possibilities and options. And the good news - it's not a birth deformity. His ankle had been broken and went untreated. He doesn't need an amputation, he just needs a bit of physical therapy to stretch his tendons and muscles back to normal. (Most of which will be done as exercises at home). So, ultimately, going to this vet saved not only the costly expense of an unnecessary surgery, it saved my puppy's leg. read more

We moved to Port Angeles a year ago and found Blue Mountain Animal Clinic to care for our cats. Everyone here is so friendly and caring from Ashley, Bobbie and Sarah at the front desk to all the LVT's and vets. I can't say enough about Dr. Lindsy Bevins, who has cared for our one cat with stomatitis for the past year. Recently he quit eating because It was just too painful for him. Dr. Bevins inserted a feeding tube directly into his esophagus so his mouth would heal. Since the clinic is closed on the weekend Dr. Bevins took him home so she could care for him and monitor his progress. I've never had a vet go to that extent to care for for one of our cats. I brought him home the next week with complete instructions from Kendra on how to use the feeding tube. Dr. Bevins called every day to check on his progress. I'm happy to say that thanks to Dr. Bevins' treatment he is eating normally and well on the road to recovery.
