April understood that, helped me to refine my vision, and she made it happen within my budget! April took the time to speak with me on the phone multiple times, have two site visits and really worked to execute my vision. Hiring Petal Works was one of the best decisions I made! The flowers were gorgeous, and the owner April captured exactly what I wanted for the centerpieces and bridesmaid bouquets. I let her do her thing on the altar pieces, (just gave her the colors I had in mind) and they were so pretty! She even scored some peonies for my bouquet and for my hair, which I did not expect and I was so happy to see them the day of the wedding. April did a last minute change on the centerpieces adding in some different candleabras and they ended up being perfect for the room. I wanted a flower ball for my flower girl but April bought a mini bouquet which was even better than what I requested! April answers emails promptly and her personality is so bubbly and open! She also took the time to meet with me during a family emergency, which I really appreciated. April rocks! read more

April Neubold is one of the most unprofessional and people I've ever had the displeasure of working with. She's an awful listener and does NOT take suggestions from clients that differ from hers well at ALL. She will make promises and then not remember she said them. Her turn around time to find vendors is poor at best. I found 80% of the vendors for the event and that was supposed to be what she said she'd do. A wedding planner is supposed to help make a special day stress free and smooth sailing. From directly after I gave her the deposit she was a huge problem. In the ENTIRE "preparing to get married" process of finding the venue to ordering food and everything in between...April was literally the only problem in that whole equation. Kind of opposite of what her role is...don't you think? She has a unique ability to talk down to people and she wears her aggressiveness on her sleeve in the form of her physical body language. Her communication skills are a 0 out of 10 and almost appears to act like a 3 year old and stomp off when doesn't hear something she likes. I'm not joking about that at all. It's truly amazing how unprofessional this woman is. During my wedding she was pushy and unbelievably rude to not only me and wife but also the guests. Almost everyone of our 130 guests made a comments about how terrible she was. More than anything she completely screwed up the table assignments that were discussed and shared with her long before the wedding day. Her timing was constantly off and she was supposed to tend some items (that were pre-agreed upon) that she simply ignored and did not do. She also lied to the staff (making my wife and I look bad) saying that we had not planned on food for them. She was physically IN the meeting with the caterer when ALL staff members (bartenders, photobooth, DJ's and her helpers) were discussed and included. 0 stars. read more

Let's just say that I cried when I saw my wedding bouquet. That's just how amazing April at Petalworks is. The first time we met with April, she immediately "got it." She knew what our vision for the big day was and helped us to pick out the most perfect flowers for the ceremony and reception. My bouquet was a mix of tulips and orchids in purple, orange and yellow. At the reception, we had orchids placed in square glass vases with river rocks. Everything was gorgeous! I hired April for my wedding and couldn't imagine a better experience with a vendor. I didn't have a "vision" for my wedding and wasn't even sure where to start. She was full of great ideas (and wasn't offended if I wasn't crazy about an idea she had), stayed within my budget (rare for a wedding vendor!!), and really worked to add in personal touches. April's meticulous work makes it clear that she loves weddings, and that she truly wants YOUR wedding day to be everything you've imagined - or, in my case, even better than what I was hoping for! I've continuously gotten compliments on the decor at my wedding (both from guests and from people who couldn't make it!), and I wish I could post some pictures on here to show you all how amazing everything turned out! I got married over 2 years ago, and I STILL think about how awesome my flowers were. April was one of my favorite vendors to work with through the planning process. She has fantastic ideas, and is really willing to work with you and came up with all sorts of ideas and options for us. All the bouquets were amazingly beautiful, and the 2 pieces that she did for the ceremony were gorgeous. The flowers she selected were all very vibrant and looked fresh throughout the entire day & night. I cannot say enough great things about April and her work. As the mother of the groom and having had first hand involvement with multiple weddings I feel compelled to share my experience with April from Petal Works. My first contact with April was at the rehearsal the day before the wedding which was not only disorganized but her inability and obvious irritation to questions and or suggestions was very apparent. The day of the wedding didn't improve. Our family dinner table which was slated to be next to our son, new daughter-in-law and her family. During the process of being seated we discovered we were at an 8 person table instead of 10. We were abruptly uprooted and moved by April to a remote outer area due to her error in not following the defined table size chart of 10 not 8 people that was given to her. It felt like we were herded on a forced march to our new location. Watching her transition people from one venue to another was painfully uncomfortable and disruptive. A wedding coordinators function is to be invisible and work seamlessly at making this life time event perfect.............unfortunately April doesn't possess these skills instead of putting out fires she starts them. I know flowers in general are expensive, and if you put "wedding" into the mix, that just about triples the cost of everything. That said, Petalworks charges unreasonably high rates. Like Alice M. said, even though April of Petalworks says she will work with your budget, she absolutely does not. She also does not do "partial" wedding jobs, ie just ceremony decor and bridal party flowers. I was initially undecided on centerpieces and emailed her to ask if she could do just the ceremony and bridal party flowers. She wrote back and told me to fill out this detailed questionnaire that required a good deal of personal information. After I sent it back, I didn't hear from her for over a month. When I finally emailed her, she said she doesn't do "partial" jobs. When I told her I did want simple centerpieces after all, she emailed back within 30 minutes, I kid you not, with a $4000 proposal, even though I previously said my budget was under $2000 and asked if we could substitute cheaper flowers wherever possible. Just so you have an idea, the breakdown of the $4000 quote was for 1 bridal bouquet ($225), 4 bridesmaids bouquets ($90/each), 8 boutonnires, 2 corsages, 2 altar pieces ($350/each), 10 ceremony pew flowers, 12 centerpieces ($100/each), cake table decor, guestbook table decor. Plus 10% delivery/setup fee. Maybe this is reasonable? Except I told her I didn't need cake table decor (was just planning on sprinkling rose petals myself) or altar decor. Obviously she didn't listen. read more

April was awful at my friend's wedding. She made he and his wife more stressed than they were already, fought them every step of the way when they needed something or needed to veer from the original plan in order to accommodate family. It was their day, they paid an enormous amount of money, she should have been there to help make their day the best of their lives, not fight to establish dominance and butt heads. She never smiled once and was very unpleasant. Don't take a chance on this one. read more

I know April both professionally and as a former bride. She helped me pull of my own wedding in 2 1/2 weeks, last year, and didn't bat an eyelash. She was able to step in to coordinate and design with almost no time at all, and it was PERFECT! I know that April has so much passion for flowers and she goes out of her way to ensure perfection in her work. April always made sure to use only the best of the best in both flowers and decor. April's vision and design is simply amazing. She loves to incorporate "different" elements and she definitely creates beautiful pieces and exactly what her brides imagine, if not more. She does this job because she loves it. She loves the excitement that a bride has the first time she sees her dream wedding in real life. She loves meeting with the brides and really getting to know them on a personal level so that she can better create something just for them. As the father of the groom and the minister for the ceremony my first interaction with April from Petal Works was at the rehearsal the day before the wedding and was unsettling to put it mildly. She immediately told me how the service should be conducted with no regard or respect to my input or questions. She was abrupt and abrasive when asked if the pianist could do a trial run at the rehearsal to determine where the piano should be placed, since this was an outdoor venue the acoustics were a little tricky and of concern to the pianist. Obviously irritated she agreed but only because the bride insisted. She is not a people person and not easy to work with. Perhaps she has skills that would be better served behind the scene but not as an event planner whose job is to create a calm non stress environment. read more

I hired Petalworks as my florist for my wedding. I know zilch about flowers, and April had so many great ideas and worked with me even though I was on a budget. She really brainstormed to come up with what things we could get rid of, what other kinds of flowers we could get that would have the same look that I wanted, etc. Whenever she had another idea that she thought I'd like, she'd call or email me and we'd talk about it. She has a LOT of really creative ideas to choose from too. She definitely exceeded my expectations. The flowers were unbelievable -- everyone commented on how beautiful they were. I wanted striking, simple flowers with an elegant yet natural look, and she actually did it! She also decorated the ceremony area (on the bluff overlooking the ocean) and the reception area (indoor/outdoor) and both were perfect. She was always on time, and always reachable, if needed. The flowers held up all day and night -- she arrived around 1 p.m. and the flowers lasted at least until the next morning. She even put together flowers for my hair and delivered them to the hair salon on her way to decorating both the ceremony site and the reception site. Honestly, I have no complaints about April. She was professional to work with, and easy-going at the same time, which is right up my alley. I wouldn't have changed a thing. read more

April did my wedding in Austin, TX in September 2013. She did the flowers and was also my full service wedding coordinator. I could not be more happy with her work. She was absolutely AMAZING!! She helped me create a vision that I did not even know could be possible, and then she made it a reality and SO MUCH MORE! She had my back the entire way though the planning process. Ok well, my husband and I went and interviewed April, owner of Petalworks, she seemed really nice and seemed to be VERY helpful when we interviewed her. She said she could do a wedding of our caliber (normal 200 person country club style wedding). She also said she could get some flowers that other places said that they could not get at the end of July-like Peonies! I was so excited! She also had all these other ideas and pictures of her work-but who knows-pictures of flowers doesn't really mean it is her work. Anyway, I really liked her from her interview and I wanted to give her business because she seemed very helpful and said she could get the flowers that I wanted and had more of a personal touch instead of a "flower shop". Anyway, after I agreed to go with April. She continued to call me to sign the contract and hand her the check for the deposit.-($500) So 4 weeks before my wedding I did a walk through the church with her to show her where I want the flowers placed and she had the contract with her. She seemed to be onboard with me and said no problem! So I went ahead and wrote a personal check of $500 and signed the contract. After I signed the contract I recieved an email from April saying that she probably wouldn't be able to get all the flowers that I wanted. I was soooo upset because I didn't know now what kind of flowers she would provide! I didn't want to take a chance. We had already agreed on the colors, style, and all the arrangements--on top of it all she was charging me close to $4000!!! I decided to call a few other reputable flower shops and decided to go with them for the guarantee that they would provide me the flowers i wanted!!! Also they were about $1000 cheaper--2 weeks before my wedding day--a nightmare!!! Anyway, I decided to contact April and tell her that since she couldn't guarantee her work I couldn't go with her. I also demanded my $500 back and I even put a stop payment on the deposit and she had already cashed it and never responded to any of my emails. She shows you a great portfolio telling you what you want to hear, but after you sign your contract and give her your money she tells you ---ummm I can't guarantee what you will get??? For $4000 I don't think so!!! DON'T USE HER!!! I spent a couple nights so mad and taken advantage of 2weeks before my wedding day!!! Not what I wanted to be doing right before the best day of my life! I went with Ralston Florist who did an INCREDIBLE job for only 2 weeks before my weddng day! April was so much fun to work with! I am someone that knows nothing about flowers, other than when I see a picture I like. That was what was so wonderful when working with April...I took my iPad along with me on my first meeting with April and pulled up my Pinterest page, she did the rest! I cannot explain how much she loves what she does and her passion for creating beautiful flowers and centerpieces. She went above and beyond to create my flowers, and that was not an easy task since I decided to change everything and was not sure exactly of what I wanted. She would send me text messages of inspiration to determine the different elements I liked, this made working with her so easy. There is no doubt she uses the best quality flowers and supplies out there, along with being environmentally friendly which I loved and think is wonderful. She was very helpful when working within my budget, which I appreciated! My brother built these wonderful wooden pillars for our ceremony that he could have never done without the pictures and dimensions that April provided to us. I am so glad she is going to be able to use them in the future. I LOVED LOVED LOVED my flowers and received so many compliments on them! They were different yet elegant, rustic and romantic....exactly what I was going for She also created a beautiful display on the fireplace for us, it had flowers, olive branches and amazing pillar candles covering the whole thing. I cannot wait to get my pictures back to send some to April so she can see what a wonderful room she created. I am so happy we were able to work together, she was so much fun and I hope she starts teaching classes closer to me because I know I have a couple of people that would love to take them!!!!! read more
