My dog looks beautiful, the groomer did a great job. 2 stars are due to my experience. First there was no cashier. The line was 6 deep. And a cashier had to be called up, what the heck. Then a lady, I'm guessing the salon manager comes to speak with me. This is after I watch her speak rudely to someone who wanted to make an appointment. Then she comes over to tell me about issues my dog has. Yes, I know she's very old. It was one thing after another. I never had issues when she was groomed in San Diego. I didn't need her to tell me not to come back, because we won't be back. This lady if she is the manager needs to take a class on how she speaks to people because her customer service is horrendous. I am a retired veterinarian. I am licensed in MN and IL. My husband took our dog for a nail trim today to Petco in Apple Valley. They refused service because he did not have a PRINTED rabies certificate with a CLINIC NAME. They would not accept a perfectly legal, signed rabies certificate (see attached) I filled in by hand and signed. Assistant manager stated that any pet owner could illegally fill out a rabies certificate and that is their policy. They also require a clinic name on the form, even after I explained I was retired. This is disrespectful and unreasonable way to treat a licensed professional! Of course I can trim my dog's nails, but I prefer to have them done because it's easier on him. Their loss. read more

This is specifically geared to the grooming. Paid for additional services along with a haircut and bath for my standard poodle but only got half the service. Check your dog before you leave. Lazy is what they are. My dogs ears weren't even cleaned. Full of hair still. Breath bad, she looked nice on the exterior but they did half azz job. Won't ever go back there. They just did the minimum and charged me max price. Wish I didn't tip so well. Even called and was told the groomer would call be back. She didn't. read more

We followed Tionna to this location because she does an awesome job grooming our Great Pyrenees. Since moving to this location, the phone goes unanswered, it took me 3 weeks of leaving messages to even get someone to call me back. She was apparently booked out a month - great, good for her. I made my appointment for a month out. Of course as life happens I realize about a week prior that there is going to be a small conflict. So I start calling to try to discuss it with her, but as per their usual, no one answers the phone. I left several messages that didn't get returned. Finally day of, I call and call and call grooming....nothing. Then I and ask for customer service - even thought I'd been calling all morning, they were able to get Tionna to answer immediately. They were very rude - I was trying to explain what was happening but this person kept talking over the top of me so I couldn't even speak. Tionna answered in a very rude tone as well. Because it had gotten down to the very last minute, there was nothing we could do to adjust so I could keep the appointment. Maybe that would have been the outcome anyway, but had we connected when I started calling 7 days earlier maybe we could have worked something out. My dog takes 3-4 hrs to groom - that's a huge loss for her day as well. Extremely poor management all around - at the very least answer your phone or return a call. We won't be back. read more

Stole my money and gave me diseased pets. I bought two guinea pigs from here over a month ago and not even three weeks later I had to bring them into the vet since I saw wounds on their backs and ears. They said they have Ringworm and the vet mentioned it's been common lately wherever the stores are getting the guinea pigs from are bringing ringworm. So I ended up having to spend 160 dollars in vet bills for both topical and oral medication I have been using on them every day for a month. Not only that, but a week after they got diagnosed, my 7 year old daughter caught the ringworm and has 6 wounds all over her body. I have had to spend around 50 dollars to pay for her medication too. I am very upset and a single mother so didn't anticipate having to fork out this much dang money for already diseased animals they gave me. THANKS for nothing and I can't wait to tell everyone I know never to go to a Petco again. read more

I scheduled a vet visit with Vetco. It's like you're on an assembly line. They email your scripts do if you don't have a printer, good luck. The last thing they said was to go to any Walmart or Costco to fill the script. After going three times to different Walmarts, I was told they didn't have the medication. Finally I called Costco, they didn't have it either, but they ordered it for me. Now my dog is without medication for the time being. read more

Our fur baby, Clifford, is a rescue with a sad past. He is blind in one eye and missing part of his lower lip and front bottom teeth because someone played catch with a fire cracker. He's the sweetest dog ever. The team at Petco in Apple Valley, MN treat him with gentleness. He is very furry and we have the de-shedding treatment. I want to start off by saying that my family and I have been using Petco's services for at least 10 years and have always had a mediocre experience. I do not want to discuss the past in detail, but I do want to say that based on my previous experiences in addition to my last experience in Petco, I will never visit this Petco again. I came in on 2/11/18 and wanted to get my dogs nails trimmed. I had to wait at the front desk for at least 10 (to give them the benefit) to 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge my presence. Normally I would have been more patient, but my dog gets incredibly anxious, so I always hope for a quick trim & I understand that may not always be the case if it's busy. However, it was dead and no one was in front of me. To my knowledge, they had two groomers there. One was in the back, grooming a dog (using a blow dryer), while another one was in the back with the door closed. Neither of them could see me. I tried to say HELLOOOO as I politely as I could to get their attention, but to no avail I had no response. While waiting, I could also see their company landline, as well as what looked like those bricks that you call Nokia's (which is an old cell phone, for those who don't browse the internet/memes). The phones were completely unattended, which is very unprofessional on top paying no attention to the front desk for 10-15 minutes. Finally, the groomer from the back (who was behind the closed door) came up and greeted my dog. She was incredibly nice and trimmed my dogs nails great. No complaints what so ever on her end. Now, once I was paying for my dogs trim at the cash register, I was quickly greeted by the cashier with a quick hi (& of course I said hello back). As I stepped over towards the card reader, she proceeded to greet the next customer and have a casual conversation with them. What?! I thought that was very rude, as she barely acknowledged my presence as a paying customer. Honestly, I don't expect people to have a full on conversation with me, especially since they don't owe me anything, however I do expect some level of respect as a paying (& quite forgiving!) customer. I have worked in retail and understand that there are bad days, but I would never, ever greet another customer while serving another customer until they have paid. Once I finished my transaction, she said thank you quickly and proceeded to continue the conversation with the customer. I have no idea if she knew the person or not, but it doesn't excuse her from being so inconsiderate of me. After that, I was upset, but I do like to treat my dog to a little walk around the store as they love exploring and smelling things. To be clear, I was annoyed, but to me, little things are not worth it to get worked up over, so I was planning on quickly going around the store and leaving and going on with my day. However when we walked past the cats in the cat adoption area, I saw 2 cats in their separate (& tiny!) glass windows (don't know if the 3rd one was under a blanket, but there could have been 3 total). The smell was HORRENDOUS. I looked at the litter boxes, and truly, it did not look like their poo was taken out for a couple days. I felt so horrible witnessing this, but I did not want to seem overly dramatic, as I have never owned a cat before and don't smell litter boxes for fun. From what I smelled it was a mix of poo & chemicals. I walked away, and I will be making a call to the management team. This is something little, but definitely added to the uncleanliness/unorganized mess of Petco, I saw two grasshoppers bouncing around. This may seem petty, but it just made me realize that this place truly is unorganized and quite dirty. Now this is purely speculation, do not take what I say as a fact. But as my dog was smelling around, she came across a blue door in front/left side of the building. She was sniffing it and whining. I started listening, & I could hear a dog in there whining as well. I made sure to turn around and make sure there was no other dogs behind me. It was very weird and made my dog anxious. She did not want to leave that door. Of course, I gave the company the benefit b/c this could be just me and my dog overreacting. I'm not sure if they hold dogs back there for adoption days (This incident occurred on a Sunday). I am really writing this part of the complaint because I want to make sure that the dogs are treated well. I plan on making a call to the management shortly after this. I am truly questioning this specific Petco's management team based on their lack of customer service, as well as how unorganized and dirty the store is. If the store would like to contact me directly, I would be fine with that. If I get a half-hearted response on this review from Petco, that will truly show their colors. I went to the Apple Valley, Minnesota Petco today to pick my dog Winchester up from his grooming appointment. I went to pay for his grooming. The cashier Molly and I went to school together once upon a time. I haven't spoken to her in years nor do I ever plan to get in touch with her. Needless to say, she was completely down right rude to me when all I was trying to do was pay for my dogs grooming. It honestly seemed to me like she was trying to start something with me like she would do in school. She kept bringing up things that happened years ago. She was immature and just flat out rude. I kept my head down and proceeded to pay. Amongst her rudeness, she had bragged about being promoted a few days prior and did NOT act as a Petco employee should with their Code of Ethics. As I walked away to go get my dog, she yelled at me in front of other customers in line which was very unprofessional. I've been going to the same Petco for about four years and have never had a single complaint towards the store until she started working there. read more

Me and my family have been loyal customers to Petco for years. As of recent, I'm starting to question why I go into Petco in Apple Valley because of an employee a friend and I went to high school with. This employee, Molly, has been holding a grudge against my friend and I for rumors that SHE caused and she thinks she has every right to tell me how to train a dog that I'm just babysitting and I'm getting really tired of her treatment to me and my friend who has to have someone else help her when she goes in because Petcos employee, Molly, can't drop a grudge that she caused. It's getting really old and I'm getting tired of dealing with her drama every time I visit the store. Even as I was purchasing what I needed, Molly was either serious or joking or whatever, and said her and some of the other employees eat the peanut butter biscuits that they have in the treat buckets as you walk in the door. Very rude employees. Refused to sell me feeder fish as they thought it was animal cruelty. Also for the rockets I purchased I had to wait 10 minutes for help and another 10 in line. Unacceptable. Please avoid at all costs. Katherine is very rude and yells at customers often. She thinks she knows it all but doesn't. On top of all this the store is dirty and smells bad. read more
