It's a shame it's the only pet store in the area. They are always understaffed even prior to Covid. I do know they have a large employee turnover which says a lot about the company and how they treat their employees. I've called to reach their groomers in the past and never heard back from them. Petco Will Take Your Money -- But They Certainly Don't Support Animals or the Community What I witnessed at the Petco at 3511 N Salida Ct near Tower was beyond unacceptable. A volunteer who had driven six hours to safely deliver a foster dog was harassed, stalked, and treated like a criminal in Petco's parking lot -- not by police, not by staff, but by an aggressive Front Range Patrol guard Petco thinks represents their brand. Instead of showing even minimal respect for rescue work or basic human decency, Petco allowed this guard to escalate, monitor, and threaten someone who was literally helping save an animal. When I arrived to pick up the foster, he immediately went hostile, raised his voice at me, and acted like a routine dog exchange was some kind of crime. The message from Petco was loud and clear: You can give them your money -- but don't expect them to support animals, rescues, or the community in any meaningful way. For a company that markets itself as a champion of animal welfare, their actions say the opposite. Allowing aggressive, unnecessary confrontation toward rescue volunteers shows a complete lack of compassion, oversight, and responsibility. Petco should be embarrassed. Instead of owning up to it, the staff made up excuses and flat-out lied. The ugly groomer -- the one with the green/blue hair -- she's is completely untrustworthy. Do not trust her with your pet. She was dishonest about what was done, refused to admit mistakes, and had zero accountability. I expected professionalism and care for my pet, but all I got was deceit and disrespect. Horrible experience because how do you mean to tell me that my dog's vaccines aren't valid just because they are on a valid book with stickers signed by a Vet but that's still not valid to prove that my dog has been vaccinated already , even though my dog has been there multiple times with the same handbook and same style vaccination proof and then proceed to tell me that your policies just changed so now that's not valid anymore. I come here to refill my cat litter, the employees are nice, it's obvious they are understaffed so i don't like to make much of a fuss about things in the store. Petco already sucks with the "care" they give to their small animals but it's scary seeing 2 hamsters being housed together knowing they are strictly solitary animals. We have shopped at this Petco for years and had no problems until now. We brought a non-working cat fountain in to ask for an exchange with proof of purchase. It had been purchased on December 15 but was a Christmas gift so had not been used until December 25th. Kerri told us that today (February 24) is outside the 60 day window and there was nothing they could do. We tried explaining that it hadn't been used until Christmas and that was within the 60 days. Kerri cut us off abruptly and with enough volume to cause other customers to look at us. She was unprofessional and not willing to have a polite exchange. I'm not upset at the inability to get an exchange, but I am upset at our treatment as long paying customers. read more

took my miniature poodle in to the groomer at this petco location. took 8 HOURS. for just a brush out. he was shaved poorly, resulting in clipper burns. photos attached explain the very poor grooming service they provided. leaving my dog uncomfortable, injured & as his owner very upset. I would recommend to look elsewhere when looking to get your pets groomed, wouldn't recommend going to this location whatsoever. read more

To do not go here if you care about your animals and good customer service they are very understaffed there is usually only one cashier at the Register and they constantly have to always call for backup, plus grooming is a disaster because they'll close earlier than they say they will say on the door, The store smells of urine and there are always low on supplies which is probably because they don't have any staff on hand to help, Plus one of the new managers apparently who was hired with the red hair didn't help me at all when I needed her help, I asked for some manager related questions and she said she didn't know how to do it because she's still in training and I even saw her once struggling to help other coworkers there too, and then the one person who did help me last time he was a male manager wasn't there. so, I find it very unprofessional for hiring somebody who can't even do their job, and like I said they're always out of stock of so many supplies and stuff, I even found expired dog food in the freezer when I came to get my Siberian Husky some Refrigerated food. Beware: This is the location where managers potentially tell customers that if they don't have a receipt, PetCo locations will issue a cash redeemable "gift card," (actually a none-refundable Merchandise Return Store Credit) and if you want your actual money back to your personal credit card, all you have to do is 1.) buy items with your store credit and then immediately return it to get it back on your Credit Card. 2.) Go to a CoinStar Exchange and redeem cash from it. Both are horrible misleading. How could any company lie and hassle a customer this way? Especially ones with loyal customers? I've never experienced this problem with any other franchise. I've always had a quick and easy returning transaction, literally anywhere I go. But the saddest part is getting lied to by the staff here. I don't much care for the inevitable store credit, but mislead me into running up and down, giving me the false hope of getting my money back when there is no other way. Living twenty minutes east of DIA this is the closest Petco location to me. Needless to say I've been here my fair share of times over the years. ++ Store is clean. ++ Layout is like most other Petco locations. Once you've been to one you can find your way around any of them. ++ Staff for the most part is helpful. ++ Decent selection of products available. -- I find they are often out of the items I need for my ferret. I usually go to this Petco if I'm in dire need of hamster food, the customer service is actual crud. Be ready to stand in line for 15-20 minuets because they only ever have one cashier. Dog trainer has the attitude as if she is Jesus herself. You'll have better customer service at Walmart to be honest. Store is usually clean. They're out of stock most of the times and the selection of stuff isn't that great anyways. I only come back due to convince. Really wish they would hire a complete new staff and managers. I came here to buy a little fence for my new puppy, I saw one labeled 49.99 so I grabbed it, seemed like a great deal. went to ring it up, 76 dollars. So I asked if that was a mistake, the cashier called the manager over (very friendly, very nice brunette, I forgot her name already) and went ahead and gave it to me for the price it was labeled since it was misplaced! I went with my brother to find a fish tank. We know nothing about how to properly care for fish or what type of supplies we needed. He asks the associate, young lady in glasses with pink hair, that he wants fish. Doesn't even greet him or anything and she says "do you have a tank?" My brother says no and she says "I can't sell you any and it needs to be set up for 24 hours." She was quick to cut him off and didn't bother asking questions such as as this your first time having fish, have you had any fish before. NOTHING!!!! We were so discouraged to come back with her lack of customer skills. She could have provided us with some knowledge. If she doesn't like working there, that is not the place she needs to be at. read more

DO NOT TAKE your dog to get groomed. I took my dog to get groomed. At 1pm I received a voicemail "you can pick up your dog" I had couple of errands as they said they would be done by 5pm. I received other call at 4pm to pick him up but nothing was said he something was wrong. When I pick him up it was stated that "he was aggressive". I understand how dogs can be but when leaving a voicemail it should be stated that something is wrong with your dog. The manager said you don't have to pay. The problem isn't to pay but the fact they don't inform you something went wrong. I have never experienced something so wrong especially when you think your dog is in good hands! read more

We have three dogs and a kitty in our family, so Im here ALOT. I use their grooming services for my Pomeranian, and I purchase all my dog food, cat food, litter and toys from them. Carissa in grooming is top notch! The selection of dog food is wide and always well stocked, And my little ones love their toy section, and the bakery treats. The staff here is well trained, professional and willing to help. Bryan has probably answered 100 questions over my visits here, and is always willing to answer more. I'm leaving this place so upset that I'm nearly shaking. I dropped my dog off here at 10:30 this morning and it is now 345 in the afternoon. They kept my seven month old puppy that we have only had for less than a week in a crate for over five hours. You would assume that if you were to drop your dog off when the place opens they would be groomed first. Not to mention that I scheduled a 1030 in the morning appointment yesterday. Apparently that is not the case. They did not even start on my dog until I called at 3 o'clock wondering why I still hadn't heard anything from somebody. I informed them that I was on my way there to get my dog whether she was groomed or not it was only then that they chose to take my dog out of the kennel and begin grooming her. I bought fish from this place before, The guy in the fish department is spectacular, if you need pet supplies it's the place to go. If you need to get your dog groomed go any where else. read more

This location is ran by high school drop outs that know nothing about running a store. I went to this store to buy cat litter, which is not a light item. I walked in to see not a single cart was in the store, walked back to the parking lot to grab one since every single one was in the lot. After getting a rude remark from the cashier, I walked out to the parking lot where some idiot customer left their dog in a hot car! There was a petco employee that was rounding up carts and I asked what they can do about that? I get a response, "I'm never out in the parking so I don't know if dogs are in cars" really? I would like to think there is some sort of training and petco hires people that love and have knowledge of animals but not at this location. read more

This is for the grooming as I have shopped at the store a few times with no issues. Our dog is a newbie to grooming and so we made it clear up front that he is nervous and may jump at loud noises. They were to do a bath, haircut, and his nails ears teeth. $54 What I got was a dog scared sh#itless with a horrible cut. They didn't do his nails or his teeth just his ears. Charged me for full service though. I didn't expect a miracle where my dog sat perfectly still and they said he was nervous and was afraid and kept "nipping non agressively" to get them to stop. So his face didn't get shaved the cut he has is uneven and you can see drag marks from the clippers on his body. They could have simply called me to come get him and refused service. Will not be back. So disappointed! read more

This Petco is simply amazing. Whenever I go in, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Vic is the most rad aquatics specialist I've ever met. I want to put him in my purse and take him everywhere with me. He is hot and smart. That's a combo that is hard to find. One time, I went in to get my dog some food or whatever and I saw Vic. I'd never experienced true love until that moment. When his gorgeous ice blue eyes met mine, my heart melted. My only complaint is that he is forced to wear that aweful uniform. What's with the frumpy apron? He is not a line cook in a soup kitchen. Vic's sun kissed skin radiates with the warmth of 1,000 suns. Every time he smiles, an angel gets its wings. His passion and expertise about fish is unparalleled. Any one that has the honor of working with Vic is blessed beyond measure. I'm not sure why Vic is not running that Petco. Probablly because he is humble and modest. It is so charitable of him to allow the other people there to keep their jobs. read more

Worst experience ever, and trust me, I've had some bad ones at this particular store. *Took us 30 mins to get the attention of the kid in torn ragged jeans (nice uniform petco) to get the fish we wanted. *He placed the fish directly in the black cover bags then covered them with the clear plastic bags. (wtf?). *We asked him to LABEL the bags since there was now NO WAY we could tell what was inside each one when we got home and he mixed up 2 of them, resulting in me pouring an anemone out into a dip solution meant for coral. *Asked the cashier to double bag my purchase to be safe, got an incoherent 'grunt'... ended up bagging my own purchase. I mean COME ON PetCo, how many times can you mess up on ONE sale? If you have truly given up on this store, please shut it down, it's obvious whatever management you have in charge of it has no interest in improving it, since we have steadily watched it get worse and worse every-time we have been there. This review is for grooming; specifically Dana. **My dog received the medicated shampoo, deshedding bath treatment with nail grinding. I'm what some might call a "high maintenance dog mom." I love my dog, Nani, and overprotective more and more as my 6.5 year-old husky gets older. (Dana said 7 is considered a senior citizen dog!! ). I had a terrible experience with the Petsmart in Stapleton so I was really hesitant to entrust Nani with any groomer, but I was confident in Dana and Petco from the start. She was knowledgable, experienced, and loving towards Nani. She knew exactly what Nani needed with a thorough checkin inspection- which products she would benefit from, how long the process would take, and knew how to put me more at ease. Dana was patient with my dog. I know how difficult it can be to groom her because I have dealt with having to trim her nails (she hates her feet being touched), brushing out her fur (huskies have a ton), and giving her a bath (she's squirmy!). But Dana met the challenge and exceeded my expectations! Things I liked about THIS Petco grooming salon (I don't have prior Petco experiences at other locations): -Friendly when I called to book an appointment -Same day appointment availability (weekday) -Not overbooked with dogs -Spacious and CLEAN front area -Knowledgable staff (Dana knew which products and services to recommend for my dog.) -AMAZING FINISH. My dog's coat smells awesome and looks fresh. Her paws are all trimmed up and nails are filed down. She just forgot the dewclaws but I can easily do them on my own. This is Petco Mini! Each and every department is hacked in size by about half, compared to all other Petcos I've been to. Maybe they know this location is doomed? It lies on the tippity tip of a strip mall development that obviously ceased to continue being built. The parking lot continues for a long time past this pet store, as well as vast swaths of now weedy land that were once zoned for more shops... By the looks of the other places in the area, I'm guessing it's missing it's requisite Red Lobster, Pier One, Gordman's, etc. We didn't find what we were looking for--Ick medication for our fish. They didn't have any, and at all other pet stores, big-box and independent alike, they all carry a few different options of this medication. But not here. I can't comment on the customer service, because as long as we were there, I only saw one cashier at the register... Nobody to assist with anything else. Tick... tock... tick... tock... read more

This review is both for the store and their grooming salon... The employees at the store are always helpful and friendly. I love that you can take your leashed animals in there, since there aren't too many places that allow pets and I feel bad leaving my dog in the car while we run errands. I've taken my dog to the grooming salon several times and each time Franklin always does such a great job. Whenever I pull into the parking lot, my dog starts whining to go in. I love this Petco! I come here for all of my puppy's items! The staff is always helpful since I don't know much about animals (awful I know). I usually spend a lot, but I also save a lot since I am a member of their pet pals loyalty program. The only thing keeping me from giving this place 5 stars is the fact that when I need help or have questions from an associate I have to hunt them down. Do not take your dog to puppy training. My 10 week old cocker spaniel was taken to the class this last Saturday and escaped from the puppy area. There was a gap between the pen area and a wall and she was able to get out. No one noticed. Thankfully a friend was there and saw her. So much could have gone wrong from her getting out the front doors, to encountering a larger animal, to someone stealing her from the store. Thankfully none of that happened. I spoke to the manager today and it was more disconcerting that she was not at the store on Saturday but not one of the employees or trainer bothered to inform her of the incident. Couldn't find what I was looking for so,tried to find an employee to ask for help. After wandering around the store for almost 45 minutes, just gave up and left.
