I was bored waiting for an online grocery order, so i popped in to look at the small animals. They were adorable, of course, and most had some kind of fresh produce in their habitat. Some of the water bowls could have been wiped out and refilled, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were filled that morning and the animals just dirtied it up. Overall, decent care for the animals. The store itself is cluttered and must be going through some kind of major stock turnover or staff change, because there was a significant amount of items on the ground and one corner of the building was jam packed with random shopping carts. No, it was not where shopping carts are supposed to be stored. Since i wasn't buying anything and was just looking at the animals, i noticed a couple of staff pass by me to see if i was shoplifting. Understandable, but it did feel a bit creepy to be watched. read more

Kim you are an angel! I took my 13-year-old Westie in for an emergency hairdo. I was unable to take him to be groomed before flying out West. I was able to call Petco Bozeman on Monday and schedule an appointment for Wednesday with Kim. When I arrived, Kim came out to meet me and to meet Jax. We discussed what our goals would be for this groom and a plan of action. Less than three hours later I received a message that Jax was ready for pick up. I came in and again Kim was out and ready to talk to me. She told me all the things she did during Jax's groom and then brought him out to me. I cannot tell you how happy I was, he looked absolutely perfect and absolutely wonderful. Kim did a fantastic job and I am so grateful. I absolutely will bring him back to her whenever we are in town. I simply cannot say thank you enough and I highly recommend Kim. THANK YOU! read more

Petco has always provided the utmost care with our two older Bichon Frises. We went to another pet store with a grooming facility and I asked to see the back room where my girls were kept for long periods of time. They denied me the right to see whether it was humane, clean or proper In necessary measures. I left with my girls and never returned. What are/were they hiding? My girls mean everything to us and there was no way we would permit them the unknown. read more

This place is a joke. I went in to buy two fish for my four gallon biorb tank (that has a filter). We had planned on purchasing a beta fish and an algae eater. When I asked the associate if he could get the algae eater, he was too busy so we needed to wait. Then, after waiting for a bit, he then proceeded to ask me about my tank... When I told him what I had planned, he REFUSED to get me the algae eater stating my tank was too small for two fish.... Which I know is a lie since I had done my research. I told him I would go buy the fish from somewhere else, which I did. The other store laughed when I told them about the fish guy on the power trip... Definitely has all your pet needs just seems small and crammed compared to Pet Smart but the staff is really nice and knowledgeable.they seem to have competitive prices. They do say Petco is where the pets go. read more

Can't remember the name of the groomer who worked on Lily but she was great today!! Reasonable price and they did a wonderful job!

Awful grooming dept. My dad took his great pyrenees in for a bath and brush. Since he has such long hair, he had some matting on his legs and underbelly. The employees asked to clean up some of the matts and that seemed fine. SIX HOURS later, they shaved this poor pup completely. Didn`t leave enough hair so that the dog won`t get sunburned. There is no way there was enough matting to call for completely shaving this dog; seems as though they just didn`t want to brush his hair. This poor dog now has no way to keep warm or cool when the temp warms up. read more

This place has a horrible grooming department. First of all I called to make sure everything was in order for our appointment that I made in advance and they didn't have my dogs down in the computer for the right thing. So they fixed it and I thought everything was all ok and was happy I had called to make sure. But than I get a call an hour later saying that when I had made this appointment a week and half in advance ago and even after the call I made earlier that day to double check on, was now no longer good because the groomer that does trim and bath would be sick on those days. They rescheduled me for two days later, which is not the end of the world. We moved from San Diego, California where we always went to Petco for grooming and had great experience but not this time. I dropped our two dogs off and the whole time I told my husband I had a bad feeling about the place. We came back to pick them up and my husky girl who is normally pretty talkative was dead quite in the kennels. Was a little off putting but tried to overlook it and give them the benefit of the doubt. Their was no one their to greet us at the counter and we had to pick up the bill left on the counter ourselves. As we are in the store the groomer stops us and tells us that our Irish terrier basset hound mixs trim didn't go as planned. Apparently they had the razor but not the comb part that allows all the hair to be trimmed evenly. So the groomer said she did not charge us for the trim and that we can come back anytime from tomorrow on and they can even him out because they will have the part. A phone call saying this would have been appreciated, but no. At first he looked ok and I was fine with it but when I got him home and looked closer, he looked like he got a hack job. But the worst part was that as we are cuddling in bed together I go to pet him and he yelps. I inspect him further and they cut him. Needless to say we are NEVER taking them back to this groomers again!! read more

The bathers gave my dog a haircut when they one are not legally allowed without a license and two had no permission to trim any part of my animal except the toenails. They gave her razor burn while shaving her "bikini line." when bringing up my concern the manager paid no,mind because "we always do a face, feet and trail trim free with bath." um, no you don't. Also i went back (stupid me) for fish for my tank. Explained the type I have in my freshwater. A goldfish and two Molly's in a 10 gallon and they suggested I could get some snails..... They ate my snails, they failed to tell me my fish are aggressive and silly me again I had no clue. The carnage was awful. Petsmart is where I will go for all my pets needs now. read more

My little Yorkie came from an abusive situation and as a result has cage issues. They people in the groomming department have all been told this as my reason for preferring early morning appointments so he can get in and out with minimal cage time. I would drop him off just before his scheduled appointment and would pick him up immediately after (I just live less than five minutes away). The first time there was a problem was when it seemed to be taking longer than usual for just a bath and trim. I called to see if everything was okay and was told by the groomer that there had been an accident with my dog, he was hurt, they tried to revive him but were unsuccessful (there was more to her story but I am condensing). I freeked out and broke all speed records to get to the shop to find out what happened only to be met by the groomer who was laughing and confessing that it had all been a joke!!! I complained to manager Jeremy and he fully understood how upset I was and agreed the groomer was out of line. The second time was when my little dog was in the shop for FOUR AND A HALF HOURS. Normally it only takes an hour and a half to two hours for my dog since he is so tiny. I went down to check on him and found out that he had spent most of that time in a cage due to the groomers getting behind on walk-ins. Apparently, according to what they told me, if someone comes in wanting a quick service like a nail trim, brush out or teeth brushing your dog will get put back in the cage while the walk-in is serviced first. What is the purpose of an appointment if walk-ins get priority??? They should be asked to come back after the dog being groomed is finished. I did get an apology and a free grooming. The third time was, again, when an appointment was taking longer than usual so I called. Found out my dog had been finished two hours before but they had forgotten to call me to let me know he was done. The same thing happened again two months later. I had to call to check on my dog and the was told that the groomer who had groomed him had left for the day and left my dog in the cage. All I got was "Oh, did we forget to call you again?" I went down to pick my dog up expecting to see the shop busy or something, but the girl minding the counter was sitting there reading a book!!! I let her know how unhappy I was with their service and pointed out that the grooming my pet received was not up to par with their usual. She offered me a 25% off coupon for my next grooming visit - no apology. All I could say was "Like I am coming back here?" I let my feelings about their service be known on that on-line survery about their service that they like you to do after each appointment and was told I would be contacted by someone from the store with-in the next two days. No one ever called or contacted me. I have since started taking my dog to Pet Smart and have been 100% satisfied with the respect they give me and my dog. It is a much longer drive across town for me, but the peace of mind has been worth it. read more

My Grandmother came into the store and wanted to add another fish to her tropical tank and they recommended an Oscar "because it's pretty". They didn't bother telling her it would kill all of her fish. I would never, ever, shop here. The people don't know what they're doing. read more
