My experiences here have been positive. My cat had surgery and was in need of a cone of shame. I was in a rush to grab one; an employee quickly jumped to assist me and check me out. Two days later, since my cat became a Houdini, I had to return the cone of shame. It was very easy to do. I like the large fish and reptile department. Even though I can't invest in fish again right now, I really enjoy walking around and looking at them. And who doesn't want to check out a snake! It seemed like they had more dog items than cat, but I could be wrong. That may be because in the center aisle I saw a lot of things focused on dogs, like dog Halloween costumes. That said, there was nothing that I saw was lacking for felines. I was able to pick up some food for my little inspiring Houdini and will be back for future cat needs. read more

I'm really disappointed. I've gone to different Petco locations in Texas but it was my first time at this location. I won't be going back. My dogs face was still dirty when I picked her up. It's also the first time I've ever had to sit outside and brush my dog AFTER a grooming. There was soooo much hair and I paid extra for deshedding. read more

Grooming staff is so rude! We called to schedule our dogs first grooming appointment who is 11 months old and fully vaccinated. The man we spoke to told us we had to bring him in for a wash only before we could make a grooming appointment and kept giving us vague answers, seemed completely disinterested with his job to be honest. Ultimately we went with somewhere else who was so enthusiastic and treated us/our dog completely opposite of this Petco! Apparently this man had booked the appointment for us when we called over the phone and called when we didn't show up. He hung up the phone in the middle of me talking once I said I wasn't aware the appointment was booked and apologetically let him know we had gotten him groomed elsewhere. I love Petco, I pay for vital care monthly for all three of my pets and took my last dog to Petco for all his grooming needs for 10 years! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER FROM PATRICA in the grooming department!! I walked in around 12 PM with my 10 pound dog to get her nails cut -Patrica-the "lead groomer" was the only groomer available, but that didn't seem to be a problem in my eyes, considering she was sitting down and not one dog in sight being groomed. I showed her proof of rabies with my tags and also had her called the vet to confirm the rabies is updated. She refused to cut my dogs nails simply because my vet referred to her as a Australian Shepherd mix and not a poodle mix. My dog is half Australian shepherd and half poodle , she said, since the dog looked more poodle, she couldn't verify that this was the correct dog!!!? Completely and utterly stupid. I talk to the manager at the front desk and was followed by Patricia and her awful attitude joining the conversation I was trying to have with the MOD on duty. She obviously wasn't going to cut my dogs nails, because of some silly excuse of hers, but what I could of gone with out was her complete lack of kindness and her awful attitude. She is one of the rudest people I've ever met in my life and will definitely be contacting corporate. DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED BY PATRICA. Petco was pretty much the only store that had the specific pet food we needed in stock. I had ordered from a different vendor and told an eta but 4 days after it still had not come. By that time we were about out! Any dog owners will understand it's not the best idea to just switch over to a different brand without the dog (and subsequently you) having gastric issues. We had not used Petco as they were later coming into the Leander area and we have had dogs for the last 20+ years. I placed an online order for pick up-curbside (if possible) for the following day. They notified me it was ready after the store opened as promised. I had to travel a little bit to get there but that wasn't a problem. When I arrived I noted quite a bit of foot traffic so was concerned that they might be too busy to bring it out. I called as instructed and a friendly gentleman advised they would be right out. They delivered it right into my trunk and closed it for me I was extremely grateful, and I thought the customer service was excellent. We will buy our dog food here from now on. I'm a Petco fan. Note: I can only attest to the quality of the available pet goods and plants, as that's what I purchase regularly. This particular Petco can be a bit crowded, but it's a well-organized outlet with friendly staff. If like me you shop for a live catnip plants, be sure to call before you show up. Sometimes they get a shipment in from a greenhouse, other times they won't have it available. Overall if you're in need of pet supplies, I'd recommend stopping by and checking it out. read more

Our Australian Cattle Dog came home from ACL surgery and with the cone needed a much larger kennel. In a frantic we found one- the perfect huge size- and my husband left to buy it at the PETCO Cedar Park store. I called and talked to Kiah, she had the kennel and put it aside for my husband. They knew he was the 'husband' that was on his way for that kennel in a panic. It was ready to go and Joey ( apologize if i misheard his name) was super to load it in the car. This was a 5 Star experience by this Team on Tuesday July 23, 2024 about 6:30pm. We thank you BOTH, so much for all the help and information etc for super experience. We took our Bichon to get groomed here for the first time this weekend. Our groomer, Savannah, was friendly and patient with our puppy as he gets nervous around people he doesn't know. She seemed very knowledgeable about the specifics of how to groom Bichons which seems to be rare. I think this is the best hair cut he's gotten so far and we will be back! read more

I need to try a different pet food for a pet bird. Petco was relatively close. I have been there before. Service had never been bad before. I showed up this morning five minutes before they were supposed to open. Waiting around 15 minutes, knocking on the door and ringing their bell. no one came to the door. Open time said 9 AM it was 9:15 AM. Still no one came. Called the phone number repeatedly. No one answered. And it just snowed a little bit. It was 19° outside. I could not stand there and wait until someone decided to show up for work. if you're going to falsely advertise hours that you are not going to keep. You need to rethink your business plan. Stopped in to find out if they sell cat grass or catnip. I wanted to try to grow my own. This seems smaller than the one near Lakeline. As usual, there are more dog items than cat items. I'm used to it by now. Walking all the aisles, I couldn't find any live plants. So I asked a worker near the front. She wasn't entirely sure so she pulled in another employee. Yes, they carried Cat grass and catnip but were out at the moment. They even revealed their next delivery was on Wednesday. Since I didn't have a planter yet, I was happy to wait. During our visit the District manager was also there and helped us with all the questions we had for picking out food specifically for our dogs needs. They gave us all the info we needed for our new puppy. I prefer this location over the Leander location because of customer service. Went to this petco yesterday, and we got two aquatic frogs and a pleco fish. we should've known just by looking at the fish tanks that these fish were not going to last long. not to mention we tried to also get some gold fish, and the lady knew so much about fish, yet, the tanks in store were extremely disgusting. to make the story better, when we got up this morning to check on the aquarium, both frogs and the pleco were dead. the frog we had before we purchased the others is now sick and we are having to quarantine him from the goldfish we purchased today from ANOTHER store. extremely upset and disappointed with petco, definitely not going back to this location. read more

I am so done with not only Petco, but also Vetco, the mobile vet services provided at Petco stores/in this location. Don't do this to yourself and your precious pet(s). Don't bring them here. I brought one of my pugs, Claire, here to get her annual bordetella shot and left in disbelief at what I witnessed. The mobile clinic staff here was just awful. One staff member had on a backwards baseball cap and was so inappropriate and rude to not just me, but also other customers (can you say unprofessional?). She was instructing people to walk in certain directions to avoid other dogs. If they did not move right away or did not do as she poorly described, she verbalized her frustrations and made disgusting faces, rolling her eyes. For example, I wanted to look around the store and walked in a different direction. She made a whole dramatic performace about that. She also was argumentative and had the nerve to take a picture of my dog without my permission. She questioned me as to why I did not authorize her to do so. I replied that Claire is my dog and I get to decide whether or not someone can invade our privacy without our permission. Mike B., the vet assistant, also is a poor communicator and had no idea how to talk to me. Claire was so troubled by the unprofessional environment here that she spit up her bordetella shot. I felt bad for her. I asked the doctor to give her another one since it hadn't successfully gone done. Dr. Beth Goldberg attempted to administer Claire's bordetella shot outside of the examination room while Claire was IN MY ARMS (what the actual...?)!!! What a complete mess. I was the one who had to stop her and say that WAS NOT OKAY or proper. I was just appalled at how unprofessional the staff here was and will never return. Please don't ever take your dog here. Our pets deserve so much better in life than this unprofessional store and staff. Even if shots are more expensive at a private vet's office, take them there instead and avoid this horrible store! read more

I made a appointment over 3 weeks ago to have my dog groomed I called today to confirm my appointment and was told that my appointment was cancelled because my dog gets nervous my dog has never bitten anyone or hurt anyone she has not been around other dogs much they never even called to tell me they cancelled the appointment I feel as though they are discriminating For no reason. Made my first dog grooming appointment at Petco to try a new place. Got there and they did not want to see my senior dog who has arthritis and has always been a very nervous dog because she could not stand up through grooming session and because they were scare she might have a seizure. Never have I had an issue anywhere else. And since when is a disabled dog an issue to get groomed?! She seemed more like trying to find excuses not see my dog because she mentioned to reschedule it foe another time; like that is going to change my dog. read more

I like this petco, people are usually really friendly and it's walking distance from where I live, so I have shopped here pretty often and will continue to do so. What made my experience significant enough to review after living here almost a year is pretty cringeworthy... So I'm hyper energetic. It impacts my everyday life interacting with people. Not only do I put out a lot of energy but I am constantly picking up energy not everyone else can let's say "feel" I was in the middle of a busy fun happy day and I had a lot to get done. This petco is quiet... I had some questions about dog food, the girl who was working registered called Assistance. The women who came out to was friendly... but I felt a very bad feeling that I translated to being profiled. It was different. This caused an abruption to my energy, I can compare this feeling with sounds. If we had sounds for feelings and moods and your listening to a happy song with very high notes, then you come in contact with someone else's energy and Simultaneously, a really low note is introduced and comprised the quality of the song you are listening to ) this can be from a lot of different Things, like they are having a bad day or have low vibrations or bad Intentions. I could be wrong . I want to state ththe lady was completely professional. Im going to say that again, this lady was totally professional. I had to run back to get wet kitty food Now as I do what I do I'm picking up all sorts of vibrations. Not good ones. When I went to pay the lady who seemed like a manger who came from the back, to help me walked outside and that's when Started to feel it. Negative energy. She thought I was going to steal or something.... As I walked to register to pay she walked right back inside like she was waiting for me. Now this is what happened on the inside / outside I had this over whelming feeling of judgement that translated to I was going to shoplift .... that feeling deeply bothered me. her actions and words were kind, "your dog is so beautiful etc (pets my dog) her energy was.... . I could feel heat first of all, very negative indication. I felt like I was doing something wrong, all these are signs and symbols to me. We engaged in small talk. didn't even want to count out my ones like, I felt so uncomfortable.... While I could have counted out nicely probably 25 dollars like "yeah I'm paying...." I just had a urge to get out. This was so sublet but yeah my feelings got hurt. I know what I feel I'm not always right but Im finely tuned, despite the way I present myself. I felt really bad after.... was it my tattoos? How I dressed, the way that I was talking ?? (I talk very fast and I'm extremely upbeat, she may have been taking this as the "overfriendly" red flag) wow as I writing this I am fully picking apart the situation, therapeutic benifits of Yelp for me) but worst of all, for me, what made me the most upset was, what was it about my energy that I was putting off. Every time I go into this store, there is never a cashier or a person with any knowledge of their products or animals in general. If you are a PetCo fan, I wouldn't recommend this location at all. Try the one in Leander in between the goodwill and the Kohls. I've never had a negative experience at that one. However, the cedar park location is always a toss up. At the Leander store, everyone is super helpful and receptive to customers. I came in expecting to be there for a long time because of all the items I needed, but a helpful associate took me straight to all of the products I needed. I also needed some crickets and she bagged them up for me with a smile on her face! Go to the Leander location instead. read more

I have been bringing my dog Snowball to get groomed by Sarah, ever since i got him a year ago. I trust her to be patient, gentle, and understanding with all her clients. That helps, since Snowball can be very stubborn. But he respects Sarah and goes along with what she says. Am just lucky that the first time i brought my gabie , i had amara , she was such a great person , my girl was not stressed out post grooming. But , unfortunately i didn't see amara anymore in this location. Now, i have Sharesa, and just like the first encounter of my little gabie with Amara, my gabie was not stressed after Sharesa took care of her. I hope Sharesa will stay in this location. read more

Amazing Customer Service! Thank you Dustin! I called PetCo to see if Shipt Shoppers ever purchase live fish for clients. I was asked why and explained my son is in the "at risk category" with COVID and we are curbside only at this time. I was put on hold and Dustin said I can do one better; bring your kids and we can do a curbside Betta pick and purchase. We pulled up, called, and Dustin came out (masked up and hands sanitized) with a cart of Betta fish and he had sanitized everything on the cart prior to our arrival. He also pushed the cart up to our car and walked away to give ample space for my kids to get out and pick. He took my credit card and came back out with receipt and fish. It was just super awesome and way beyond even good customer service! I will add that Dustin had no idea we had just lost our dog of 15 years AND during the madness of when COVID first made its mark on our lives in March. Our kids are facing a tough year and this type of kindness gives them great memories! read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. Walking into the business, three workers were five feet from the main entrance and all smoking cigarettes. So that's awesome walking thru a cloud of cancer Once inside, I grab my bag of dog food and went to check out. No workers at the counters and no workers in sight besides the three on a smoke break. Waited five minutes and then walked around the store to find a worker. Two workers were in back area helping a customer find a treat for their pet. An old male employee(didn't bother getting his name) asked if I needed something. I said no one is running the counter and I would like to check out. He said "I'll be with you later", in a tone that implied I was bothering him by asking him to do his job. At that point I left and went to PetSmart down the street. Petco doesn't need or want my business so I will not ever buy from them again. PetSmart or a local pet supply will from now on be getting my business and I will tell everyone to shop else where. Petco you should probably train your employees on customer service or get a handle on store managers that aren't doing their jobs. Final: Never return. Forever lost a customer. We use the grooming services here and couldn't imagine going anywhere else as long as Amara is our groomer! We have been bringing our 2 St. BerNewfie dogs, Prim & Star, to Amara for their grooming for over a year now. Amara is amazing with them, they weigh about 125lbs each and can be a handful but from the 1st time Amara has gladly, enthusiastically, and most of all, kindly got these giant puptarts fresh and clean. Really this review is more about Amara, she is the best! We never have any worries about dropping the girls off because Amara has always updated me and has even called when one of them was being rowdy. When our dogs see her they get so excited!! As a pet parent that confirms she is the groomer I want taking care of my fuzzies while they are at Petco. read more

We've been using this location since they opened mainly because of how close it is to our home. The grooming department has really lagged in customer service but, I kept taking our dog there because it was close. Unfortunately, the horrible customer service hit an all time high on September 30, 2018. I scheduled a groom for my dog online. When we came in at the scheduled time, I was met my 'Mika' who let me know that they couldn't reach me (how does that happen when we are regular customers) and would have to cancel our appointment because they took in three drop-in dogs and now, didn't have time to take my dog at the scheduled time! I asked what they had time for and she didn't really have any time because they were closing an hour early (the hours of service are posted on the doors s you walk in) and because they took in three drop-ins now had no time for my dog. I called corporate and was told the rep for the area would contact me and to date, have heard nothing. I just can't see how this is acceptable customer service. Beware of using this location. read more

Made an appointment for 12pm on 03/17/19 to have my dog groomed, at the Leander location left him a little early @ 11:45am (knowing he would not get taken care of early since my appt was at 12pm) but I had an appointment to get to so I came back at 3:30pm to see if he was ready they hadn't even started on him and was told it would be around 6pm before he would be ready that they have express pay customers that bump regular appointments. 1st off I had never heard of express pay nor did I find anything on the website...2nd what is the reason for making an appointment if you have to leave them for 6 hours that is unacceptable no dog should have to sit in the cages for that long...I will not return to a petco and caution anyone about the Leander store if they expect your pet to sit in a cage for more than a hour...that is unacceptable at any grooming business.... read more

Would give zero stars if I could. We've come in here twice to buy fish. The first time the employee was so incredibly rude and sarcastic while my nine year old asked questions, that we left. We definitely went straight to Petsmart and had a very enjoyable experience. We just left there today and again had the same situation. We were buying fish for our 55 gallon tank. The salesperson acted extremely put out that we'd ask for help. When she did help us, she acted as though we were committing a crime by getting quite a few fish (she had no idea how big our tank is and didn't ask if we had other fish). We saw her go to her manager and go over how many fish we were purchasing. Her manager snidely came over and asked if we needed anything. The whole situation was weird. First, she didn't ask details about our tank but was so critical about the 10 fish purchased. Even the cashier (who was on her phone while we walked up) had a scowl, was short and curt. From now on, we'll stick with Petsmart and the local pet store, Partners, in Round Rock. read more
