I called John for help with my dog reactive/aggressive Great Dane. We had used other private…read moretrainers and group classes and were hitting a wall. John's philosophy got us headed in the right direction. The training wasn't easy, but our dog had amazing obedience skills when we were finished with John. John was gentle, and explained why he does what he does. Unlike some dog people, John has people skills. The private trainer we used before him communication skills weren't top notch so John was like a breath of fresh air. He did use choke collar and corrections, but told us that our dog was so sensitive we would maybe use a 3 on a scale of 10. Ultimately we turned to positive reinforcement, but our lives were better for having worked with John.

I like to look around at other dog trainers on Yelp and came across the guy who trained me! I must…read moresay...I am VERY surprised he doesn't have 5 stars! I was trained by him in 2002 and have one of the most successful dog training companies in Los Angeles. The great thing that I can do that most can't (or are not willing to) is offering all techniques/methods. One method is never going to work with all dogs...period. I learned them ALL from John. In my early days of training, he flew down to help me with a German Shephard. People could not go near him without being straight up mauled. The only person the dog trusted was the my client's boyfriend (the actual owner) who had just passed away. She "inherited" the pup. After just a few days (after the dog attacked a runner and also wouldn't allow anyone in the house) she realized she either had the option of putting him down, or taking a stab at getting the dog to atleast be controlled. I had to teach the woman through a screen door because the dog went after me several times (I tried to take the leash several times, but he wouldn't allow it). 3 weeks went by and I still couldn't touch him so I called John. He came down and within 30 minutes, i was petting him. The owner was so overjoyed that she cried like a baby. When he touches a leash, it's like magic...I know it sounds cheesy, but its like he was born with one attached to him. Anyway...because of my education from John, I was able to open up my dream dog training company and have now been on the Today Show, Good Morning America, The Early Show, MSN, Yahoo, Cesar Millan's magazine, his new dog training book...and better yet...the people who write for his show takes my class every morning. With that said...He is an awesome trainer, the best...I owe all of my success to him. Jill Bowers Thank Dog! Bootcamp Thank Dog! Training

It appears to be under new management, and I did not recognize any of the groomers.I booked a full haircut for my dog, which was explicitly confirmed when I checked him in at 8:00 AM. An hour and a half later (9:30 AM), I received a call claiming they could only do a bath and a trim. When I spoke to the manager, they insisted no one was available for a full cut and falsely claimed I had only booked a trim--which they could not even prove or confirm in their system.I picked my dog up 30 minutes later, and he looked exactly the same as when I dropped him off. He received a bath, but he was absolutely NOT trimmed or cut. Charging me $63 for a completely unfulfilled service is unacceptable. The manager completely failed to remedy the situation or take accountability for their scheduling error. This location is now highly unorganized and unprofessional. I will definitely NOT recommend them.

**Exceptional Training Experience with Valor Canine Services**…read more We can't thank Scott and the team at Valor Canine Services enough for the incredible work they've done with our dog, Hank. Before working with Scott, we honestly didn't know if we could handle Hank on our own. The difference after training is night and day--he's now the dog we always knew he could be. Scott's dedication went above and beyond. He kept us updated almost daily with videos and progress reports, making us feel included every step of the way. We know Hank wasn't easy, but Scott worked patiently with him and showed tremendous commitment to Hank's success. Thank you to the entire Valor Canine team, especially Scott, for your hard work, and for continuing to check in and answer all of our questions. We're so grateful to have a well-behaved, happy dog thanks to you!

Valor Canine Service is not just a dog training business; they are a true maestro of canine behavior and obedience. From the moment my dog began his training sessions, I was kept informed of my dog's progress daily and it was evident that not only did Valor Canine Service possessed a deep understanding of dogs, but also has a profound love and passion for what they do. Their approach was not merely about teaching commands but about fostering a harmonious relationship between owner and dog. This holistic approach is what sets Valor Canine Service apart for me and, from others in the field. I still implement the follow-up behavior and obedience strategies I was given. I will definitely use this service again and would highly recommend them to anyone. Valor Canine Service thank you! HM

Like many pet owners, I desire a top-notch medical practice for my "furry family", one that mirrors…read morethe same quality of expertise and care that I desire and expect for my own human medical needs. I am thrilled to say that I've found that quality of care for my "furry family" at Brenford Animal Hospital, P.A. at their 4118 North DuPont Hwy in Dover location. I am a recent permanent resident of Dover and had adopted my furry felines just before the pandemic shut everything down. As both had all their vaccines etc., were in good overall health, and remained completely "indoor" pets, I had no need to seek any medical attention for either of them until now. I never had felines before and although I did have a wonderful four-legged furry friend for many years before them, she was of the canine breed. Needless to say, felines are totally different. When my "Oreo" exhibited the need for medical attention I looked for reviews for Veterinarians in the area. I write this review because generally people write complaints about experiences, but sadly when they are happy neglect to write compliments and give thanks to those companies and peoples that deserve gratitude to be spelled out. I want people to know about Brenford Animal Hospital, P.A. at 4118 Noth DuPont Hwy in Dover, DE. From my initial call just before the practice closed for the day, through the past few days of communication, everyone I've interacted with at this practice has been wonderful! I don't say that lightly either. By the time I assessed that Oreo needed medical attention and located a veterinarian practice it was near the closing of their work day. Megan was my first point of contact she listened to the concerns I had for Oreo, spoke with the doctor and discusses some options. I ultimately, called back just a few minutes before they closed, spoke with Megan again and booked Oreo for a morning appointment. Megan didn't rush me off the phone, she afforded me time beyond closing to begin the paperwork needed for the morning appointment - she could have had me go "online" to do it myself but graciously extended to me the courtesy of doing it for me and didn't make me feel for a moment that I was imposing on her. My husband and I took Oreo in for the morning appointment, and we both were impressed at the cleanliness of the office and of the examination room. Jacquelynn assisted Dr. Kern's and was the first to interact with Oreo. She was wonderful with him. He has never let a human handle him for the length of time that she needed to and it was as if he'd always known her. I was so impressed! Dr. Kern also had that same effect on Oreo. Oreo had a thorough exam and we were given guidance of what we needed to do to help him get well. I spoke with Dr. Kern's the following day via phone for follow-up and also went into the office to get some recommendations on "treats" for Oreo and Steven at the reception desk listened to my concerns and helped me. I truly felt every person I've identified in this review cared for Oreo's wellness and was compassionate to my concerns for caring for him. They are truly a "team" and clearly share the same attributes that create a practice environment that is exceptional! I thank them and am so thrilled that they are in my community! I know that my furry family will always have the best of care for their medical needs at this practice and which them all professional and personal success!

During the appointment, the veterinarian, a short older caucasian woman, repeatedly yelled at the veterinary technicians in front of us. The entire room became visibly tense, and MY GIRLS - MY FIVE YEAR OLD SPAYED CATS WHO ARE MY ONLY CHILDREN - who had already been stressed by being in an unfamiliar environment... became even more agitated. No animal should be examined in an environment where staff are being screamed at. The veterinarian whom I believe her name was Dr. Gallagher, then raised her voice toward me and instructed me to stay away from my own cat because she claimed she knew my cat would scratch me. This was particularly inappropriate considering she had never met me or my cat before that day. My cat's behavior was far more likely a response to the chaotic, high-stress atmosphere that had been created in the exam room. I remained respectful and civil throughout the visit because I did not want to escalate the situation or create additional stress for my pets. However, I left feeling shocked by how both the staff and I were treated. The veterinary technicians deserved far better than to be spoken to that way, and so did the clients. This experience fell well below the level of professionalism I expect from a veterinary practice. Unfortunately, instead of feeling confident in my pets' care, I left feeling uncomfortable, embarrassed, and disappointed. I sincerely hope the practice addresses this behavior because neither employees nor clients should have to experience it.
