brought my dog for her nail trim + buff and the girls didn't even TRY to put any effort to actually trimming the nails. plus i watched them do it and no buffing happened. i tipped $5 on top of it ahead of time because I was appreciative that they would do a good job when it was just a waste of money. we were the only customers there so they EASILY could've taken their time. please hire people that actually wanna work with dogs. read more

Waited a month for our appointment as everywhere is extremely booked due to COVID. We took our two dogs in as we have numerous times before. They have a new policy where they have to mess with your dog before taking them in to see if they're "aggressive". Our 12 yr old yorkie gets feisty when his eye crustys are scratched (he has no teeth) so she wouldn't see him. Our 8 yr old dachshund was fine until the girl pulled the hair INSIDE his ears?! So he didn't want anything to do with her after that- Who does that?! Anyways they won't muzzle dogs anymore I guess so we'll never be going back there. read more

Its funny, I really have no issue with Petco. I have one close to my office and to my home, yet I tend to pick PetsMart over them time and time again (and drive further to go there!). Can't put my finger on it, but I think it is just the appearance of the stores. They are always so dark. There is never more than one checkout lane open. And it just doesn't seem fun to shop there. Dumb, I know, but true! Prices are fine, its a chain, so it is what it is. Parking at this one is aplenty, but being it is across from Park Meadows the in/out can get pretty messy. So watch out! Still, it is an a-ok place. I go here whenever I can't find what I need at PetsMart and they do have all the Caesar Milan (aka The Dog Whisperer) merchandise - which if you are a dog lover you will like! read more

My fiancé and I have been taking my husky puppy, Rogue, for lessons for her puppy 2 classes. We have been working with Kenzie and she has been absolutely amazing, alert, attentive, and friendly. She is great at explaining all of the commands so not only Rogue understands, but we do as well. Also wonderful at explaining how to continue training once we get back home. She just graduated from her puppy 2 class today and we are very much looking forward to working with Kenzie in the adult class for both Rogue and our other dog Bruin! read more

The store nutritionist helped me so much! I switched my dogs to his recommendations and a month later they are clearly benefitting from it. They both have so much more energy, smaller poos and shiny hair. I was about to buy canned food when I mentioned that my oldest dog was overweight and I needed to change her food. He showed me the benefits of feeding my dogs real food over that canned stuff and I'm SO thankful. I've got their rewards program already so I just keep using my points and rewards to bring the food down to a very reasonable price. I really feel my dogs are set for a healthier future after this and I'm really appreciative that the employee spent so much time educating me. read more

DO NOT come to this location for grooming services. I booked the service weeks ago, no where says puppies cannot get a haircut until the appt day, they refuse to cut my dog's hair because she's too young and that's Petco's policy. Fine, I changed my appointment to bath only and they accepted her, after 30mins drive home, got a phone call from the groomer Evy, saying she's not comfortable to do anything with my dog, not even a bath because the dog has some matts and I need to pick up my dog asap. I was upset for spending 1.5hr in traffic that day (mid day work day) for this appt but not getting any services done. They checked her hair when I dropped her off, if the matts were so bad, they could've told/warned me before I leave the store so i can just take my dog home. Talked to one of the managers Rowen, instead of solving the issue, she told me I just need to pick up the dog then hung up on me. After that, I called the store 17 times, got hung up 3 times more, rest of the calls no one picked up, I know they did that on purpose to avoid more conversations. The way they treated their customers were horrible, the way that manager Rowen handled the situation was not right, I've been a customer of Petco for 9yrs now, never had an experience like this. DO NOT come to this location. Follow up: called another Petco location (in Denver on Mexico Ave), talked to the salon manager, she's not aware of any puppy policy that not allow them to get a haircut unless the dogs are aggressive. Also asked her about the matting situation, she said normally it doesn't happen to puppies that matts are so bad and have to take to a vet to get calming medicine in order to bathe/cut the hair. I got a completely different answer from another petco location, my guess is it was a Friday, the salon was busy and the groomer Evy did not want to deal with a puppy. That just shows what kind of poor services they provide to their customers. read more

I did an advanced training class with Amber. She was wonderful and tailored the class to the needs of my dog. She was patient and very knowledgeable about dog training and helped me figure out how to best train and support my dog. I would recommend her to anyone! Unfortunately, I would give this a lower rating if I could. I called 5 days in advance for a grooming appointment. It was tough to get it scheduled so I moved my job around to be able to take my dog to this location midday. When I arrived there was no groomer present (none for the entire day) and there was no record of my appointment. Obviously, I was frustrated. I was told a manager would call me but they never did. I called back 72 hours I was supposed to receive my call and finally spoke with a manager, Ryan. Ryan was apologetic and assured me he would make it right. We re-scheduled my appointment, again 5 days in advance, and the grooming would be free. Tough to beat! When I showed up for my re-do appointment, again there was no persons in the grooming department. Another manager checked and saw no record of my appointment and said the groomer had just left for lunch. After about 10 minutes of watching them scramble to figure out what to do, I finally just left. Strike 1 - No groomer present for my appointment and no record of me scheduling one 5 days in advance Strike 2 - Promise of a manager phone call that never came (I called them back 3 days later) Strike 3 - Me returning for my make-up appointment only for there to be no groomer or appointment. Apparently you shouldn't give this location a second chance. I hope others have better luck. Although, based on some of the reviews, you should just find another pet store for your pet needs. It's easy for them to say "sorry" but it's tougher for them to actually BE better. read more

the manager was asking questions to my little girl, which is something that obviously shouldn't happen. He kept expecting my daughter to answer questions about our pet, she's literally 10 and other petcos usually have an adult answer these types of questions. Anyways, the manager didn't want to sell the turtle to us and instead went with my little daughters replies. I promise you that i have never had these types of problems with stores, but the manager is extremely dumb for asking a little girl. I love any other petco, except this one to be honest. read more

I am extremely upset about how my dog I were treated at my recent grooming appointment. I've been using Petco grooming for many years but I don't think I'll ever go back (not to mention the fact that they seemed to have blocked me from booking on the app). Let me start by saying that my dog did not get groomed despite us waiting over a month to schedule a weekend appointment. My dog is desperately in need of a groom, but I'll be waiting a few more months due to no availability at local groomers. I went to drop my dog off and was in a hurry because I had plans. I have had good experiences with other groomers at this store but I had never met the girl that was there this time. I don't know her name but she had short hair and huge plugs (earrings) in her ears. She was rude to me from the moment I walked in. She asked me if my dog had any heath concerns. I said he has a chronic cough that comes and goes (he is a 10 year old Pomeranian) but that it's not dangerous and he has has it for many years. It is a common Pomeranian issue. She said she wasn't sure if it was safe to groom him. She asked if he has any heart issues and I told her that the vet recently said he has very mild heart disease (common for dogs his age) but the doctor said he doesn't need medicine for it and it was not something to worry about. The girl said she had to ask her manager if she could groom him. She came back and said her manager said no. I was very upset and explained that he has been groomed every few months for his entire life and literally nobody ever mentioned any concern. It's not like he has never been groomed before. I had her get her manger to discuss with me. The manager was a little bit nicer but explained she didn't think it was safe. I protested and eventually, the ladies told me (begrudgingly) that they would give it a try this one time but that I needed to pay extra because they had to groom him very fast and I had to pick him up in an hour. They also said if he ever came back he would need to be there at opening time and he would need to be groomed all at once (for extra money). I said I couldn't be back that fast and she said she could reschedule for Monday morning (when I work). I said no. The girl said she was just looking out for my dog and I needed to know that if something horrible happened, there was no vet nearby. They explained how stressful and dangerous grooming is for dogs. She said she has seen the worst case scenario - I guess maybe a dog died in her care? Talk about stress inducing!! I did not want this lady near my dog at this point. I was so upset and late for my appointment, I just told them never mind. I spent the morning calking other groomers who are not available for months. As a longtime customer, I think this behavior was completely unacceptable. I can't find anything online that explains that a dog can't have any health issue at all to be groomed. Beware if you have an older dog and go to this location. read more

Lisa was amazing. She was very kind and patient. Wonderful at keeping the best interest of the customer and their pets in mind. You can tell she loves working with animals and people. We had a pretty large purchase today and she recommended a monthly subscription for our pets that saved us $80 on a $400 purchase. We have a lot of fur babies we love to spoil. I am beyond disappointed with they way they handle an appointment for grooming, I had scheduled it probably a month in advance and confirmed it the days prior come to find out the morning of they just up and canceled it because the groomer she was scheduled with could not accommodate her. We are long time customers of Petco. We have been shopping monthly for years in their locations. Today will be our last. We made a purchase of dog food online for our dog. We made a mistake when placing the order and purchased the wrong item. Once we received the food, we brought it into the store to exchange it for the correct item. Both items were $47.99 in-store & online. We had signed up for monthly "repeat delivery" online and received a discount on our purchase. We were told by "Ryan" that they do not match their online prices in-store. I said that that both items are the same price in-store & online; it should be an even exchange he said "no". I told him that there prices should be the same, they are the same company. Ryan refused to assist us with the even exchange. I will no longer shop at Petco. read more

4.5 I love the grooming services from Kim the groomer. My Lola looked adorable when her grooming was complete. Clean, organized store with friendly services. However, I did purchase a dog treat bag from the store, a more expensive brand, and the treats were molded when I opened them. Eventhough, they had a number of months before they expired. I contacted the manager and they allowed me to return the treats and gave me an extra bag. So just check your treats and food. read more

PetCo is pretty much the standard spot for anything dogs, cats, fish or your reptilian lover. Although being in the Park Meadows shopping center this PetCo is somewhat older in appearance but still gets things done with rows and rows of pet supplies. One reason for the 3-star rating is the fish area. For some reason every time I go into this store the floor is soaking wet and "Wet Floor" cones are everywhere. I think it might have to do with their overloaded goldfish tank, but I'll keep the speculation to a minimum. We've just acquired our second dog (beagle/schipperke puppy) who is now six months old and we're going to try the obedience classes at this location. For the cost of $100.00 you get six week of training with a licensed instructor to help with everything from the basic "Sit" and "Stay" to more advanced off-leash activities. OK, so I sound like the brochure but will get back to you on the results. read more

UPDATE: I stopped in here last Wednesday to pick up dog food again. They were out (again) of the type that I normally get. However, they had two smaller bags of the stuff I needed. The only problem was that the price was more expensive. Cameron, an employee, gave me both smaller bags for the price of a bigger bag. He was very courteous and provided great customer service. THIS IS FOR VETCO - my dog has never had an issue with vaccines. I tried this for the first time today. Within 30 minutes of getting home, my dog had a massive allergic reaction where I had to go to an emergency vet. The customer service number on all the VETCO information gets you no where, never to an actual person, and simply says, "see a vet" and is completely pointless. I come here because it's close to home. The store is pretty clean, well stocked and not usually busy so it's easy to get in and out. My experiences with the staff have ranged from absolute indifference to "are you finding everything ok?". It's more often toward the indifferent side of the range, though they're usually at least pleasant in their indifference. Petco Rewards makes me feel like I'm getting something for free, which I like. All in all, this place is A-OK. read more

The groomers are extremely rude and unhelpful. The lead groomer was surly and had an attitude from the very first encounter. Unfortunately this was my favorite location where I had previously taken my dogs for many years, so I tried to make it work scheduling here with the new dogs. The app is broken and doesn't allow online scheduling for more than one pet at a time. You have to call to schedule, and when you try to call to schedule they never answer the phone. It takes many hours of redialing to get an answer. Don't even bother leaving a message- it won't be returned. I finally had an appointment scheduled and took one dog in. When I got there, they told me that my appointment had been cancelled because a groomer was sick. That would be understandable if they had bothered to call or text me so I didn't waste my time bringing the dog in. They were completely unhelpful in rescheduling with the limited time I had and offered no options for scheduling both dogs together. They did suggest taking them to another location where they did answer their phone and had a helpful attitude, but the only time available was after I had to leave town. My friend was supposed to take them in and he got busy and that didn't happen. Not my fault, and the employee with the horrid attitude complained to the manager about me! Truly a business where the customer is never right. They don't deserve anyone's business when they have zero respect for the customer or the animals. Now the little dog is going to have to be shaved because they wasted so much time for me getting a good groomer scheduled that he has grown out too much to get a normal cut. read more

I had looked for a specific product online and found it on the Petco website. It showed it was available in store as well, so decided to pick it up rather than wait for the item to be shipped. When in store I noticed the product was twice as much as on the website. I had brought a print out and asked the person working the store if they could match the price, which he did. Horrible customer service! No one was upfront so we had to wait a good 8 minutes before getting someone's attention, when he got to the register he didn't say one. We ended up needing a manager because the free dog food coupon still required tax so I was asking why would there be 8% tax on $0. I would have been happy to pay it just wanted and answer but the manager was incredibly rude saying well the government wants there money & didn't have time to answer my question. I have a bladder disease called Interstitial Cystitis and needed to use the restroom badly. Three employees, including the manager, were insensitive and did not want to let me use the restroom. They stated that due to Covid I needed to go next door to the liquor store and use their restroom. That's not fair to the liquor store or to Petco customers. I persisted making my case to the manager, even letting him know I was fully vaccinated, and he eventually did allow me to use the restroom, which was difficult to find and access due to a piece of paper covering the sign and a gate blocking it. I have never experienced anything like this before. Interesting how I can use the restroom at Costco, Target, King Soopers, Kohl's, churches, restaurants, even the next door liquor store, but not at Petco. Next time I will be shopping at Petsmart. read more
