First visit, we went to try the self-service dog wash. We liked the set-up very much, with 4 individual rooms for privacy and dog-control. Shampoo (4 choices), conditioner, towels, aprons, and basic grooming tools are included. There is a blow dryer, also, but it's fairly low-powered. Note: No trimming or nail clipping is permitted. The price is reasonable ($17 per pet). Only true problem is that they don't allow customers to use their restroom. I had to leave to go to another business. read more

EP is both a store and dog grooming including a do it yourself wash. So this is 2 in 1 review... 1. The store part is great for dog treats and snacks. They carry items that aren't in big box stores like Petsmart or Petco. They also carry specialty dog and cat food, both wet and dry. When I want to try a new dog treat, I come here. 2. I've only tried the do it yourself dog wash once but unfortunately I won't return. My dogs hate baths so I need to be as quick and efficient as possible. While I appreciate having a gated room to use, it was an awkward set up, soap was a separate bottle and my dogs were freaking out from the noise of other dogs being groomed. Plus I paid almost $50 for both dogs, no thank you. read more

I brought my puppy into the store today, and unfortunately my experience wasn't great. The employee, Lexie, wasn't rude, but her energy made it very clear that our presence was more of an inconvenience than anything else. She never greeted me, never asked if I needed help, and didn't acknowledge us at all. Surprisingly, the woman handing out samples helped me far more than the actual staff member did. I appreciate her kindness, but I left feeling disappointed in the customer service overall. A simple "hi" or offer to help would have gone a long way. I gave 2 stars one for store being so nice and organized and the sample lady who assisted me today. I chose to go to your store and it was our first time. I thought I was supporting a small business. I'm not sure if I will be back I really wanted to support this local business because I am also a local business owner myself. read more

First review of the year! We had driven by this location because we were dropping off a car. And I happened to noticed a sign. Since my dogs food is an hour drive from here. I thought I'd do some research and came upon this location. The few things that I like about this store is it is small is size compare to Petco or petsmart. It's not as overwhelming of a store.They have selection name brand foods. And they happened to carry my baby food. The veterinarian suggested not to change up the food just yet and gradually. So I bought the same brand but wheat free this time. They also carry refrigerated food, a small section for cats, leashes, harnesses. And they also have a separate section for treats. As I noticed they carry cookies, which looked like they were baked. I didn't see the ingredients listed on them. But will ask next time. Also they do have a self cleaning area for pets. And/ or specialized grooming again not sure bout the prices on those either. We will be back to explore the treats/ cookie section. read more

I highly recommend Robin for grooming services. Robin grooms my senior Springer Spaniel (14yo), with dementia issues, who is not easy to keep still while being groomed. Robin is patient and so gracious with her willingness to continue to groom my sweet but daffy senior pup. Robin also grooms my younger dog and he comes home looking very handsome, too. read more

I drove 40 minutes to come to this shop and got there at 6:35 and the lady behind the counter said I could not wash my dog because then she would have to clear up after the wash. EP closes at 7:00. I'm so glad I found this place. Robin has cut my dogs' hair the last couple times and she's amazing. She not only does a great job cutting their hair, she's so gentle and loving with them. One of my dogs can be very difficult and high energy and it can be overwhelming but she is so good with him. I always get anxious coming in because he barks so much and i get kind of embarrassed by it but they always handle it with such grace and kindness and it always makes me feel better. The Veterinarian and Trainer have since both advised that Essential Pet's advice was wrong. We will never bring our GoldenDoodle back to this place again! My wife scheduled a grooming appointment for this past Sunday. When she showed up they told her that they had a issue with scheduling and that they could take her but, she would be in a crate for an extended period of time and that it could take 3-4 hours. She is not a crate dog and it causes her a lot of stress. My wife re-scheduled her appointment while there for today (that was even a difficult process). We knew going in that our puppy had a lot of knots and mats in her fur and expected her to get trimmed short but, what we got back was unbelievable. First nobody called to say that they were basically taking all of her fur down. When my wife picked her up she almost cried at what they did. She didn't even recognize our own dog. Robyn called my wife to talk to her because she found out we were not happy with the cut and the price. We were charged an extra $25 for an "express" cut that nobody told her about. That is where they get them out in under 4 hours. Ok..... maybe tell your customers about that before you take the dog back! My wife was also upset that they cut our doodles eyelashes basically off and mentioned that to Robyn. The answer she got back was "did you ask them not to cut them"? Really?! Her eyelashes were long and now they are gone. Very disappointed in the price which seems a lot to just shave my dogs fur off. The only thing that I can say was positive was Sam who was very sweet to our dog. Everything else when it comes to Essential Pets was not worth it. read more

Not only did they not trim my one year olds nails and said he did great, but on my 15 year old they trimmed the wrong nails and charge me full price for two nails. I brought my baby Charlotte here for a bath and the Employee I talked with was incredibly kind and even taught me some tips for bathing her in the future. I have used essential pet in the house past for my dogs grooming needs but unfortunately their systems need to improve drastically. I've gone in for a scheduled appointment for my dog to only be turned away and told that I was never in their systems. After a response from the owner, I was told the same story- that I was never in their system. I decided that accidents happen and decided to try them out one more time & tried early on a Saturday morning and was placed on a hold twice for 7 minutes then hung up on. I then called again and was able to finally reach someone and gave them my information and was told that I would receive a call back that same day by a groomer. As the day went by I noticed that I didn't receive a call and decided to check in. I was then told that the groomers were gone for the day and to try back again. Needless to say I am tired of going back and forth with just trying to give my business to this establishment and the opportunity not being taken. I'm giving this place three stars because in the past it was wonderful and it didn't have so many hoops to go around in order to get an appointment, currently I would suggest that the owner review the front desk processes and train the staff as it is loosing her business. Maybe in the future I will give essential pet another try but for now taking my business elsewhere. read more

I have been taking my dog here now for about 4 months, and am very happy with the quality of service! For 29$ or so, they do an amazing job of washing, drying, brushing, and nail trimming my Charlie. Essential Pet's groomer did a poor job on my mini goldendoodle. She's full grown and 30 lbs and I was told when I picked her up that she was really easy to work with, so it's not like she can use the excuse of trying to groom a fidgety dog. Other reviews on their groomer looked ok for the most part so I decided to try them because my regular groomer (Colorado Dog) was super busy. My dog hasn't been this short before. We even showed a picture when we dropped her off of how I wanted her to look. She had some mats on her bum and hind legs so she called and said that she needed to cut her shorter than we wanted. At least she called. She did have some mats but not really bad. I was going to comb her out before I took her in but since Colorado Dog never seems to have a problem with her I assumed that another professional groomer could handle it too. Obviously not. The ONLY trimming she did on her face was buzz the hair around her eyes. It doesn't look like she trimmed or thinned out the thick hair on the sides of her nose or chin. Did she forget that part? Yes when I picked her up the groomer asked how she looked and I said good but I was side tracked because there was another dog in the store and they were playing around while I was paying so I didn't realize the bad grooming job. I included a 20% tip as I always do and it came to $83! If I noticed how bad she was groomed I wouldn't have tipped. I did ask the price beforehand so I knew what to expect but I also expected a professional groom on my dog. The groomers at Colorado Dog are TOTALLY worth waiting on. I will never take my dog to Essential Pet's groomer again! read more

My dogs Max (cockapoo) and Lacy (goldendoodle) been getting groomed here for years. Robin was grooming Max for few years even before I got Lacy who's now 7. I have never had a bad experience. My two dogs go together and each time come out looking perfect. Sometimes due to fault of our own, my dogs do end up getting shaved due to mats, which gives us a fresh start to do a better job with brushing them. Most other times they get their baths and either full grooming or just trim. The groomers Robin and Katie are insanely busy and popular and I see they do their best to provide great service. read more

I stumbled across this place by accident - I was at the DMV & they're next door (apparently on both sides of the DMV). The retail place has a huge selection of top shelf dog food & supplies, but they also have a new (they don't even have their sign up yet) dog wash & grooming shop. Since I was in for a long wait at the DMV, I took a look around. This place has five *private* self wash rooms!!! And it's squeaky clean!!! I *hate* going to dog wash places & wondering if the other dogs there are going to be a problem. I have Shepherds, so if a 'nippy' little dog starts something it may end up looking bad for my dogs even though they're well trained. It's happened before. But not at this place - I'll be able to bring *both* my dogs with me into one of the private rooms, close the gate & just get the job done w/o worrying about the other guy. No time limit either, I'm told. I'm going back over this weekend to give Velo & Adsul the baths they needed a month ago... :-( No reason to put it off anymore! This is a great find. read more

We have been customers of Essential Pet for years and are a part of their loyalty program. Today I went in to buy a bag of cat food cause I needed to feed my cat while on break from work... so I really didn't have 15/20 minutes to hang out in your store. Walked in and no one was around. There was a customer in the retail section and I could hear two employees laughing and talking behind the door behind the counter. Grabbed the cat food and waited a minute or two. Then I knocked on the door to let them know I was there. Someone just laughed and "Who is it? Hahahahaha Be right there" with more laughing. Waited a few more minutes and walked through the dog washing area to see if I could find an employee. No one was there. So I knocked again. "Be with you in a second." Then a red headed lady with a snarky attitude comes out "We said we would be with you a couple times." As if my wanting to pay for my cat food was interrupting her conversation Seriously? I'm sorry I don't need to wait 10/15 minutes while you're back there laughing and goofing off to pay for my cat food. I'm on a lunch break and need to get back to work. Um... "catering to reptiles"...?? What? I was just in this place today because my American Bulldog has food allergies and needs high-end limited ingredient food or I pay the price later. This place has row after row after row of super premium dog food - pretty much a who's who of topnotch doggy diets. Much more variety in food than you could ever hope to find at Petco or PetSmart, and many I thought were only available online from the manufacturer. I have a large dog who is a major chewer -- there isn't a toy he can't eventually destroy. But I was happy to see a very large selection in extreme toys for hardcore chewers like my Dr. Destructo....another thing missing from the chain stores. I knew what I was looking for and made a beeline to the brand, but I saw several people getting help from employees trying to help them narrow down their decision. Customer service seems to be good. My dog is like a son and the love of my life. Yeah, I'm one of those people. Unfortunately for my pup, the vet has determined he has a food allergy and needed limited diet dog food. We headed over to Essential Pet, and they are no short of supply of all kinds and types of dog food. Two employees (maybe owners, don't know) were extremely kind and walked us through what might work for our pup. They seemed to genuinely care as much as if it were their dog they were caring for which was greatly appreciated. Just FYI, depending on the brand, a 5-lb bag runs about $10-$15 and a 30-lb. bag runs about $60. There is a return policy in place in case your dog doesn't take to the food -- all you need to do is bring back your food and the receipt. I believe you can also swap for another type of food to try. Well, a few days later, the recommended dog food has made our pup better. Can't thank them enough for that. :) read more

This place was extremely unwelcoming. The drivers license department next door often has long lines extending in front of essential pet. This was one of those days and to be fair the line was blocking their place of business. I did not understand this when they rudely demanded me to move. When I moved out of the way of the door. I felt I was out of the way and she yelled at me to get on the other side of the cones or she'll call the cops.Ultimately this is a misunderstanding.My son is autistic and dos not do well with conflict, so he began apologizing. This is when the lady interrupted him and said your sorry, I'm fill sorry for you and That he is your dad. We said nothing and walked away. 20 minutes later I came back to apologize for the misunderstanding. The ladies and he said you're the man with the sun I will not talk to you. read more

I'm new to the area, and was excited to see that this self-wash location was just around the corner. While the bath was great, they could offer a few more shampoo options to compete with the likes of Wag N'wash and such. Just sayin. I ended up bringing my own per the advice of a friend, and glad I did. I love that you have your own room though, much less stress on my high anxiety dog, which I really appreciated. I was happy that things were going so well, and that I could bring my pup here all the time! However, when I asked the cashier (who was very friendly, and the woman who checked me in) if I could get a groomer to help me with a nail trim on Krickett's two front dew claws, he ran back to grab the groomer. A nice young man walked out to help, but immediately grabbed my dog's collar and dragged her (choking) over to him. She was clearly terrified, and I tried to tell him that she's afraid of men. Instead of making a scene (which now I know I should have), I simply bent down to hold her for him, explaining that she was a rescue with trust issues. He continued to try to force her to his side, pulling so hard on her collar. I was furious! How dare you treat my terrified animal like that. I've taken 20 steps forward with her to work on her trust issues, and you've just undone more than half of that. I can only imagine how he treats these animals without their owners around. I'm sorry, but this is not a business I can support. I am a huge canine rescue advocate, and if this is how local businesses are treating dogs, then I just cannot support them. I hope this review finds the appropriate parties, and certain training techniques are put in place. Maybe someday I'll come back, but there needs to be a change first. Good luck. read more

I got a sample of some dog food at Barker Days from this place which he fell in love with so I went down to see if they had it in a large bag. The young girl who helped me seemed nice and helped me find the bag after I went and asked. The man who seemed to be the owner however was rather rude and unprofessional. I asked if they had samples of dry food for my finicky cats (I know they did have samples since I saw some) but he claimed they didn't and just showed me small bags of food.. He seemed much more interested in eating his lunch at the front desk that answering questions from a new customer. I had a few questions about a toy to keep my dog busy and again... he didn't seem to have time or desire to answer questions. I was disappointed since I had read the reviews before my visit. With so many other choices in Parker this place needs to step up their customer service if they are going to survive. read more

I've been to this location two times in an attempt to shop for fish and aquarium supplies. Not once have I been greeted by any employee in the store. This includes repeated circling around the store looking for the section with the fish looking for aquariums looking at filters which happened to be right next to the cash register... On my first visit I finally walked up to the employee who was on the computer apparently face booking or something and asked where the fish are and was told "over there". Today I decided to give them a second chance and went back again. the store employee standing at the counter, a different person this time ,even when a lady walked up to be checked out she wasn't greeted he just kind of rang things up and off she went.I I was unimpressed and will not be going back nor will I be making a recommendation for anyone else to go there for any of their needs. read more

What a wonderful store! We came here after some negative experiences at other small business pet stores. We like to support the community and finally found our store! The woman that helped us was very knowledgeable and helped us strategize to buy the best dog food for our pups needs. They have a buying program as well, where they keep track of what we buy overtime and we get discounts. Pretty cool! And when my new puppy wouldn't eat treats she found a few samples to give me and labeled each baggy with the name of the treat. Basically, she goes above and beyond to help me in this new adventure as a puppy mom. . I LOVE taking my dog to get groomed there. They are sweet and loving to him and they do a GREAT job! They are amazing... And I will happily return... After a problem/misunderstanding I once had in the store I was apologized to and it was made right. I have changed my review to reflect how I have always felt going into this store. I feel that this is a great local business.
